Brought my puppy there that I just brought was diagnosed with parvo, sent him home with meds, they only care about money, not animals. If I could give minus zero stars trust me I would. Also never felt so discriminated against in my life.I wouldn’t recommend this vet and these crooks to anyone. After my puppy passed I called the vet spoke to someone there and she tried to tell me discharged papers said what to give him that’s a lie,if they comment back I will post the discharge papers on here and show them there not telling the truth. They charge you out your a— and your fur baby still dies.Vet still confirms dog will mostly likely live and refuse to admit in hospital even though I had $1,000 cash.SadThen to top it off the 5 star reviews is mostly the vet tech, there family and friends.PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR BABY HEREWish I could give 0 stars

We brought our dog in to the VCA pet hospital this morning. The staff could not have been more kind, respectful, caring, compassionate, and were ever so gentle and lovingly took care of our little dog. They brought us in immediately with no waiting to take care of our dog. Dr. Head and the staff at the clinic went above and beyond to help our baby and saved our beloved dogs life today. The prices were reasonable, and they provided top-notch standard of care for our pet.Tonight we brought our dog back in since he wasnt drinking any water, and they gave him subcutaneous fluids for no extra charge. After working a 12+ hour shift, Dr. Head still took the time to carefully explain to me and show me how to care for my dogs wound, and how/when to administer his medications. It is evident that this clinic truly cares about animals and their owners, and they understand how important pets are to their owners. We were so impressed by their professionalism, kindness, and the outstanding care they gave to our precious baby. I recommend this clinic 100%. If you have a pet emergency and live in the greater Houston area, this is the place to bring your pet.

They saved my cat Dallas on August 29th from a bad urinary blockage that I did not caught in time. They performed CPR on my baby when he wasn’t breathing and got him back up. Dr. Poche is a really good and compassionate Dr and kept me updated at all times. Vet techs were wonderful especially Andrea who was working on my baby when he arrived. Receptionist Lana Was such a wonderful and sweet lady from the moment I arrived. For all that, I am very grateful to them. It was the worst night of my life and will use them for emergency cases. Excellent service and attention provided to my pet and myself as the owner. The service was prompt, thorough and efficient. I had answers regarding my puppy quickly and the staff provided a very supportive environment to make decisions as to treatment and plans. Although my puppy did not survive because of the injuries he sustained I would strongly recommend this veterinary hospital for anyone requiring emergency care. Upon entry the clinic was clean and orderly, the young reception tech was very caring and concerned about my pet and myself. He quickly gathered the information I gave to him and correctly documented all I said. We were then taken to a very clean room and the doctor, Dr. Page, who is an excellent emergency doctor, proceeded to explain the process and got the ball rolling for evaluation of my injured puppy Canelo. He immediately was given supportive care with fluids and pain control, so at least I was grateful he was not suffering in the process. The reports unfortunately were all bad and after consideration, I agreed for his euthanasia which was the only merciful management. He went to heaven peacefully and no longer in pain I was allowed to spend time privately with him. The staff were all very supportive, caring and concerned. The sweetest lady I believe her name was Cindy was so kind and gave us a framed paw and nose print of my little baby as well as a puppy angel pin. This was very thoughtful considering all I had left was the inert body of my puppy since his spirit was already in heaven with Jesus.I have used this clinic for emergencies for multiple pets and I have always had a good experience, this last time even considering the outcome of it I would dare say it was a great experience. Professional, caring, efficient altogether a very good service experience. I will continue to use them because they are a great and caring team.

Staff was wonderful to work with! My dog (Scrappy) went in on Tuesday barely alive and they took such great care of him. Offered guidance on where to go for treatment and had to return for the following two nights. Every staff member that I met was so helpful and seemed as if they genuinely cared ! Especially Lana who took my calls at night to reassue me he was doing well and always very pleasant!

We took our fur baby here today and the room we where put in obviously was not cleaned and sanitized. Our dog was pushing these used needles and caps with her nose on the floor!! My fear was what if the previous animal had a contagious disease like mange or parvo. Not to mention the prices where outrageous! They suggested keeping her over night. After seeing the condition of the room we decided it was not a safe decision to make. Reading other reviews also helped in our decision to leave.

Our rescue dog had been hit by a car at its foster home. We took him to VCA. Very professional and very caring people working there. The vet, Dr. Page, explained the extent of his injuries. She took her time, listening and answering all of our questions. We had to make a very hard decision, and all of the staff were so attentive to our dog and to us. All of them were extremely kind to our dog and to us. These are good and knowledgeable people working there. I highly recommend VCA to anyone who needs emergency care care for their fur family. I wish they had a regular vet clinic in addition to their emergency clinic. I would take all of my pets there, if they did, for their regular vet visits. Definitely 5+ stars. Thank you VCA for being there for our Canelo.

We called them at midnight, and the staff were so polite and helpful, and compassionate. We brought our dog in this morning and were welcomed by the nicest young lady, who took the patient history over the phone. When we came in, there was no waiting. The tech lovingly and carefully took our beloved dog back for the exam right away. Dr. Head came in a few minutes later and gave us excellent feedback about the findings. He took quite a bit of time explaining to us exactly was wrong with our dog, exactly what steps to do in treating and caring for him, when to go back to the vet for follow-up, and he gave some excellent recommendations for a regular primary care vet to take our dog to. Dr. Head was very kind, respectful, reassuring, and is highly knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled. It is obvious that he cares about animals and how important they are to their owners. Dr. Head was very thorough and caught an abscess that a previous vet on Friday missed altogether. Dr. Head also caught the fact that some medications had been Rxed for our dog by the other vet which should not have been prescribed without checking his kidney function first due to our dogs age. Dr. Head also discovered that our dog has a heart murmur, which other vets have not caught. Because of Dr. Heads excellent care, he saved our dogs life today. We are so grateful for the help of all the staff and Dr. Head in caring for our baby. We recommend this clinic highly and would give a 10-star rating if possible. Best emergency vet clinic we have ever been to.

After being there an hour, and not hearing anything back from them we finally called just to find out that he wasnt being treated at the moment due to emergency situation with another animal. Which is fine but with us being worried about our pet, it wouldve been nice what was going on since we couldnt be in there due to Covid. Other than that situation, we are giving them a four star because once he started to be treated the receptionist was great to speak with and the doctor herself was amazing in treating him. Price was reasonable for an emergency visit. Overall great experience, and thanks so much for taking care of our beloved family member.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. My family took our dog to this wicked place and before anything could be done they said that they needed 1000.00 dollars. So with no other option we paid it. Later on that night we got a call that there is nothing that can be done and they recommended to put our dog down. So with major decisions to be made our family goes up to the hospital to say our last goodbye and our dog comes in the room looking sick but he was alert and wagging his tail and thats when we said no to putting him down. Then they had told us that they would let us know if anything ended up cost more than the 1000 we already paid. Not true. They then told us that they would need a additional 400 dollars in order to take the dog home so we paid it and for a total of 1400 dollars we got nothing as far as meds to take home for him.We took him to another vet and found out that he still has a chance of 70% on life due to a heat stroke. They gave him some meds and IV and sent him home with some meds to take. He is getting better now but slowly and has more movement and is starting to eat some food.So think twice before taking your pet to VCA they are crooks who just want money and are the grim reaper for wanting to take the life of a pet you still has a chance.

These people are crooks... They knew what the diagnosis was for my pet, but still pushed to have a test done that was unnecessary... Its like I told them... You already knew what it was... Youre just con artist for money... The doctors last words werent hope your dog feels better... Thanks for using us... Nothing about caring for my pet... And they didnt even give me anything to treat the problem... Only the symptoms... Her last words were... We will expect to collect the funds....VCA... I have no interest in reaching out to you... If you have something you want to fix with me, you can make the effort to fix the problem by calling me... I wrote what I wrote and it is 💯 factual... I would like to add... You confirmed my statement that you are all about money and not pets or relationships because you wrote 2 prescriptions, but demanded I fill them there at exorbitant prices, when I could get them filled much less at HEB... The pharmacy bill of right guarantees patients are allowed to fill their prescriptions at a pharmacy of their choosing and should not be coerced to fill them elsewhere... Whoever I initially spoke with could have said it sounds like red mange and we dont treat that here... Because I have a very detailed description over the phone... And when we first arrived, you could have saved me money by saying on the spot that its red mange and you dont treat that... At any point you could have said this isnt an emergency and it looks like red mange or a skin condition we dont treat... But instead you chose greed over patients... You have my number if you want to rectify this situation...

Honest review. Our furbaby was seen right away at around 9:00pm last week, and there were also two other families already being seen at that time. There was no slowness or lack of care. There was an extreme sense of urgency. Our dog was having a massive seizure and they were able to lower her temperature from over 109 and put her in a peaceful seizure-free state while continuing care, so we could have some time with her. We were given the opportunity to be with her as long as we wanted. Although we are devastated that she is no longer with us, we were thankful to be able to bring her here and thankful for honest caring people that tried everything they could to save her. Already, this weekend we received a beautiful hand signed card by all the people that were there that night, along her paw prints. Talk about feels. The paw prints were the best gift we could have asked for. Oh, and yes the money. They could have continued to charge us, but instead they were honest with us, and we feel that $550.00 for emergency care and the cost of her passing (which normally costs from $150 and up by itself) was reasonable.

If I could give 20 stars I would do so- I adopted my first cat 6 months ago so am fairly new to all of the ins and outs to pet ownership. My cat swallowed sewing needles attached to sting for my cross stitching (I feel awful about this!!) I rushed her to the VCA Animal Emergency Hospital at around 930 pm and was greeted with friendly and attentive service. They were quick to give me updates and gave a couple of options for treatment. The vet was honest, compassionate and talked me through the whole process. As this was the first time Ive needed to get to an emergency vet, they made it well known that my babe was well taken care of. I was able to bring her home without surgery and she was acting totally normal when I got home. I cant thank the techs, front desk and Vet enough for all they did for my cat and for my peace of mind. I hope that I will never need to use an emergency vet again, but if I do I will definitely be giving them a call first! Scarlett and I thank you SO much!

Does not have good customer service. The vet is good, but the vet techs are lacking in skill & etiquette. Over priced for zero customer service.Good luck getting a hold of their manager, who is not helpful or ever in the office. I will never bring another animal to them again. If you cant handle a 3 month old kitten, you should seriously look at a new line of work. Oh and if a tiny kitten does happen to scratch or bite the vet tech, you wont know until animal control shows up at your house. I would love to see this vicious bite from a 3 lb kitten that required animal control to be contacted. Maybe if they handled animals properly they wouldnt bite you.

My dog had hurt her leg and was limping. Called my regular vet but they were closed. We had heard from another pet owner that the VCA in League City was good so we called them. They said they were busy but the VCA on Gulf Frwy was ran by the same group and we should call them... so we did. They told us to come down and we could be seen right away so we drove from Seabrook. Got there and its in a rough part of town. You have to get buzzed it ( like a hi end jewelry store) and the have a tall wire fence for the employees to park behind. After we got buzzed it filled out pet and owner info they told us to go wait in the parking lot and they would call us after they had a chance to examine out dog....about an hour later got a call to come back in and were ask to go and sit in a room and wait for the Dr to come talk to us. 15-20 minutes later I got a call on my cell from the Dr who told me my dog had a problem with her leg. Wow.. No Shi+! Thats why were drove all the way over here and have been waiting around sitting in the parking lot and now it this little room I told her. (We drove all the way because we were told we would be seen right away) I asked so whats the problem, what have you done, what are you going to do? She the Dr said I cant tell whats wrong without doing an x-ray. I ask so what have you been doing all this time? to which she replied we been busy do you want to do the x-ray or not? I asked how much is that. She replied $300. I told her thats crazy! why so much??? She told me if you dont like the price take your pet somewhere else and then she HUNG UP ON ME. My wife started freaking out and told me just pay them so Im still in this little back room. I had to go out and find someone and tell them what happened. So, They decided I had to prepaid $400 bucks before they would do the x-ray. I paid and waited, and waited some more finally the Dr came back in and showed us the x-ray and said the dog has a broken leg. They ended up splinting it up with what looks like an ace bandage, gave us some pain meds for the dog and charged me another $350 on top of the $400 I had paid previous to the x-ray. Then they told me to take my dog to her normal vet as soon as possible for follow up.So to recap. I wasted over 4 hours and $750 buck for these pirates to wrap up my dogs leg and tell me to go see her regular vet asap for follow up.VCA Gulf Freeway is BAD NEWS. Totally our of line! I would recommend anyone with a sick or hurt animal to think hard before going to this clinic and only do so as a last resort. And dont expect much other that them trying to extract as much money from you as possible.

I had an amazing experience at a difficult time. The doctor and rest of the office staff were so thoughtful and empathetic to our situation. We went in around two in the morning and it turned out our girl had a twisted stomach, which was very painful. They worked quickly to stabilize her and make her comfortable and then they went over all of our options. The doctor was very knowledgeable and discussed all aspects with us at length. We were never rushed into any decisions or pushed into anything we weren’t sure of. They gave us all the time we needed and all the support we needed to make the best, most informed decision for our baby. We ended up choosing euthanasia for her and even that impossible decision was handled with care and dignity. The staff was very understanding and treaded lightly and lovingly through all of the final details. We were able to sit with her before and after for as long as we needed and the office couldn’t have been nicer about the whole ordeal. Afterward we received a condolences card in the mail and got updates on when our girl would be returned to us (we chose cremation for her). I would definitely recommend this clinic for anyone in need, it is very apparent that everyone in this office loves animals and their job helping them!

Taking your pet in for emergency care is stressful, but my fears were dissolved when I brought my cat in to be treated Saturday night! The staff is kind and compassionate as well as efficient. I have experienced a few emergency vet visits at various places, and this one was by far the best. Thank you!!!

Ive been there with 2 times with my fur babies and both times the staff was professional, caring and informative. After they took my baby to be examed, they did advise me of the vet cost up front but they just want to let you know what to expect, its not because they only care about the money. the vet was caring and informative as well. The only complaint I have is that they prescribed a pain medicine that my baby may not needed. It is meant for if nothing else relieved the pain. I thought they couldve held that back until I requested something stronger if my baby still was in pain. Who knows maybe my baby will need it.

They worked with my budget and gave her treatment! I’m really thankful for their help and how compassionate the vet was with us. If it wasnt for his care Princess wouldnt be alive today. Thank you! If your pet is injured or in critical condition AVOID THIS CLINIC.... my name is Shay (NOT MY EMAIL NAME WHICH IS A MUSIC GROUP 🙄)Last year in late October, my cat was bitten by a dog .I come in less than 10 minutes to the clinic and they waste more time than me getting to their location before they even tried to help my cat SIMBA. The Vet sat me down and had a conversation with me about the cost of the critical surgery and asked if I’d be able to pay. Once I said yes and to please help my cat she asked me to pay for it LITERALLY WHILST MY CAT IS DYING in the back of the clinic and waiting to be helped. Finally when I paid the $700 for critical surgery ,the vet finally goes back to help my cat but comes back 15 minutes later to tell me he’s passed.not to mention when I firstly asked if I may see him during surgery they declined and I wasn’t even able to be next to him once his soul left this Earth.OH, not to mention like I said before they wouldn’t let me see my cat during his final moments, but ASKED if I wanted to see what once was my Simba but was then now a corpse.. like really? This was my first time here ever and it was a NIGHTMARE I lost my son to these uncaring people .Worst service, No compassion at all. This Clinic only sees Dollar signs and does not truly care for your pet’s well being. This is a warning and tip to future people who might be thinking of visiting this pet cemetery that’s called a clinic, so VCA save your “it saddens me, We wish you the best” reply , because the only thing that’ll help is NOTHING and it HASNT helped since people are still P.O.’d about this place!! FIX YOUR BUSINESS OR DON’T OPEN YOUR DOORS.PERIOD

A while back my dog started having bloody stool and vomit at 4 am Saturday morning. Rushed off to the EC and they took care of my baby! They let me stay and sit with her for hours at a time, the techs were so sweet and treated my girl so well, and the vets explained everything and made sure we knew what our options were.Dr. Head and Dr. Dodson were fantastic! They are realistic and made sure that we were a priority even in the midst of their chaos! All of the techs that loved on my girl are amazing and sweet! The office staff is so patient and caring! I brought my baby here out of desperation on a weekend. He hurt is back leg. Due to COVID-19 I was unable to be in the exam room and didn’t see how he was handled or how much they actually examined him. They told me he had a torn ACL. He also had a fever but they didn’t investigate that any further. My baby died 5 days later after bringing him here. I had an appointment for him to see a specialist about his leg. But he didn’t quite make it. He may have contracted Parvo at this location. He had all the symptoms. Would not recommend bringing your dog here.

Their staff was amazing. Seriously, really good folks that care about the well being of your animals. I went in at a rather busy 9:00 p.m. but was put into a room rather quickly. Took a bit to see the vet but that’s to be expected since my cat wasn’t super life or death ill. Similar to a civilian ER, they prioritized a few other animals. No problem. The vet was great, loves what he does and really was genuinely concerned about my cat. The staff communicated further procedures and protocol really well. Sure, it was a bit pricier than your standard vet visit but you’re in an ER of sorts... it’s to be expected. Great overall experience.

They were very inconsiderate when it came to testing and took hours. The nurse was extremely rude and snapped at me when I started to question what was going on. I should have known better than to come anywhere near this side of town. Extremely disappointed doesn’t even describe how I feel.

We have used VCA Animal ER Southeast several times...for many types of emergency situations. Over the years, we have met many different staff members. However, what has not changed is the excellent care our different pets have received from each dedicated professional. I would not recommend this place for someone who is looking for affordable pet care. The sad truth is all emergency vet clinics are expensive, and you can’t do much about it, but VCA charged me way too much for my pet’s procedure. For the form of anestesia I needed, what should and does cost $75 at other emergency clinics in Houston cost me $550 here. This is not fare to customers who are vulnerable and wants what is best for their pet. I’m sure the employees at VCA are the best and really care for their patients, but they probably don’t decide the prices. The care was good, the price - terrible. Save yourself some money and go to Sunset Hospital at Greenway Plaza.

I couldnt be more pleased with our experience at this clinic. The staff and vet were very caring, understanding, and thorough. Our sweet dog was treated with the best care and they made sure we understood everything going on with her. Yes it was pricey, but that should be expected when you are taking your animal to an after hour emergency clinic. Unfortunately we were unable to take our dog home as she required IV fluids. Leaving her was the hardest part but I knew she was in good hands. When I went to get her in the morning the vet and staff provided me all her discharge information to take with me to her regular vet. I am very grateful for all the staff and vet that helped our sweet Georgia. It takes a very special person to work at a emergency animal clinic, and I can say this facility possess that.

I brought my newborn puppy there to get examined and the lady and the front desk got a towel to bring him to the back and dropped him on the floor!!! Now this is a puppy that is 24hrs old and she dropped him. The mom nipped his leg and it was bleeding some so I was trying to be precautious but this vet said I needed X-rays, meds, and a split on his leg that would be in upwards 1,500 plus. I declined and so far hes doing great!!

Our dog died there this morning. He was a puppy. He had to get his arm amputated and it was way overpriced. We paid $100 just for them to tell us that and then they told us the most amputation cost was $3000. After it was done, the doctor said everything was fine and my puppy was so happy. Later after the doctor put him in a cage for recovery, the nurse checked on him and he wasn’t breathing. They tried to revive him but it didn’t work. I don’t know if they did something wrong but that is what we suspect because a lot of people said their pets died there too. I would not come here again.

I would like to thank the staff for their kindness during our dark hour. We had to put our dog to sleep, Karma was 13 and our little girl. When we choose to euthanize Karma the staff was crying in the background. Today we picked up Karmas ashes and the lady at the window asked what our babys name was. These people know what our animals mean to us, and also remember that yes they are a business who are asking for money. But also remember these people choose this business because they love animals as much as you do. So if your using them in the middle of the night, hopefully it doesnt end the way our experience did but also cut them some slack its just as hard for them not to help or to deliver bad news to you as it is for you to hear it.Thank you for being a little light in the dark night.

NEVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE! THEY ARE CROOKS!So, I had an emergency and took my 6 month old Siamese mix kitten here on a weekend because she could not use her back legs for some reason. We were the only people there and were stuck there for 3 hours while the doctors ran his tests. He also would not let me see my kitten [her name was Truffle], while we were doing the tests. I could hear my cat screaming bloody murder while they had her in there and I had no idea what the doctor did. The initial cost was supposed to be $95, but the guy charged us $500. The doctor said that she was PROBABLY having kidney failure and he could not draw blood from her at all. He also tried to tell us to keep the cat over the weekend, costing $2000-$3000.Okay, so doctor told us not to give her food and water. If she was not eating already, she would not eat anymore. He put this fluid thing in her to keep her hydrated and gave some pain medication. I asked him if I could syringe feed her water and he said no. I spent Saturday all night syringe feeding my cat water and it ended up that she did want food and water, but could not get up to eat or drink anything. On Sunday, she was doing a little better and had more energy thanks to some tuna broth and water that I gave her via syringe. On Monday, we took her to a different vet called the Animal House. In 30 minutes, they finished their tests and gave their condolences to us. They said that Truffle had a blood clot in her major arteries which had blocked blood flow to her back legs and was now affecting some of her organs because of the location of the clot. It could have been possible to save her IF the VCA had actually looked better and had been able to remove the clot, but they did not. My beautiful little cat had to be put down.

I will never refer anyone to bring theyre beloved furbaby here. I am beyond angry, upset and in disbelief. Earlier today we had a true emergency with out pet. When taken in yes he was immediately taken to the back to exam and perform x-ray. We parents feared the worse seeing our cat was brutally attacked by dogs. However to our blessing we were told right away from the doc he was just beaten up and will be good. She showed us the x-rays and explained he just looked bad but all he needed was pain meds & antibiotics along with rest. WOW we were so happy to hear such great news! $620 was no issue paying to treat our baby. However 2 hours later in the comfort of his home our furbaby passed away. How could this happen? Why did it happen?!! We are all confused seeing that we were assure he was fine. while my house is in shambles over this such deviation.

This place will try to scam you out of your money and will lie to your face about your pets condition.A few weeks ago the family dog, Sadie, a large rottie, got into a bottle of antifreeze my father left out in the garage, I found this out as I was getting off of work at 10:30 at night. This being the closest emergency clinic there was, we brought her there, we were signed in and brought into a room. By the time we are seen by the vet its probably close to midnight. They take her to the back to draw blood, to determine how much of the antifreeze compound is in her system. We are sent back to the room to await the test results. The vet comes back in and tells us she has FATAL LEVELS of the compound in her system and the only treatment is a 3 day stay in their facility with an IV drip of what basically amounts to alcohol at the cost of $2k.My family can not afford that, so after some hesitation, the vet informs us that another way to treat the condition is to make her drink high proof alcohol, though it is less effective. At the end of the night, we were out about $350.It is, as you might imagine difficult for even two grown men to hold down a 100+lb dog and force her to ingest a bottle of grey goose. But we got it done. So after a few days of waiting, and Sadie not keeling over, we assume the treatment worked, and we were happy. That is, until my father made an appointment with our regular vet to check for any kidney damaged caused by the supposed high dose of antifreeze. The test comes back and shows there was no kidney damage, our regular vet explained that if it was a fatal dose there would be detectable damage, and that she would certainly be dead.VCA lied about the health of our dog in an attempt to take our money while we were vulnerable. If you take your pet there they will try the same on you.
