I didnt get my haircut from Merlot himself but his apprentice or colleague. I think his name was Richard or Robert. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and and the lowest I wanted was a number 2 on the sides. I literally grew my hair out for 3 months so I could do something different. Look at the pics and tell me whats wrong here. And then they charged my 40bucks. Didnt realize how bad it was until I got home and ran my hands through my hair whats left of it. Horrendous.

If you live in the area, don’t bother going anywhere else. You walk in and you’ll immediately be in a better mood. You’ll walk out with a great cut and have had a great time. It’s the kind of place you just want to hang out.

Ronnie Coleman is a Very poor barber that not only lacks barber skills but also is not a man of integrity. I’ll be contacting the licensing board regarding his business.

I came to Houston a few months ago and tried out a few barbers but I found my spot at Merlots. First of all he is very talented. I have a Jew-fro which is inherently difficult to cut and he gets it right every time. Also his location in Rice Village is optimal since its close to everything. Merlot is the man, no two ways about it.

Came there at the crack of dawn and left feeling like a new man! Merlot is the best in town! I just asked him to make me look good and he did just that. It was my first haircut since I grew my hair back from chemo and I dont regret stopping by. Highly recommend!

First off, they support local businesses and local artist, the place is clean and the two gentlemen are very charming, and hold customer service to a higher standard.Thats why I gave them two stars, I would have given them none based on my haircut.I have waves and curls, I specifically showed the assistant(?), not the owner, TWO pictures of a medium length haircut that showcases the waves,perfect for my face.THEY Chopped MY HAIR, all of it, curls, and waves ?!?!Then after I showed him yet again the picture, he continued to chop my hair ?!?I said I would make it work, but I was dissatisfied and disappointed, I dont think this barbershop is for me.When my hair grows back, I am going somewhere else.Update: I contacted the owner, he was understanding and more than apologetic.This is the kind of service that makes me want to update my review.Customer sevice, and cleanliness is 5/5, the haircut wasnt it this time, but they have made up for it .

Merlots is the best barbershop in Houston. Merlot is always timely and precise with his services. The price is truly reasonable and with appointments available from 7am to 7pm Monday-Saturday, its truly convenient too. If youre looking for a great consistent grooming place to call home, this is truly it.

The fellas at Merlots treated me well. My cut was stylish (and affordable). My barber took his time making sure to get it just right, and worked with me on some modifications. I enjoyed some good conversation over a complimentary glass of merlot. Really nice, cozy, mom & pop-type shop. I recommend em.

Merlots barbershop is the best shop In Houston that I been to. The barbers in there great people they have smooth jazz music playing and u can have a glass of wine while u get your haircut. Go and experience it for your self I promise you will love it.

So I go to this place asking for a professional business haircut that is easily manageable. What I got was a badly done fade (which I didnt ask for) and unequal hair length on both sides of my head. Also, on one side, they used a razor so deep into my hairline that it now looks like I have a receding hairline on one side (look at attached pic). To be fair, they did ask me if I liked my cut at the end, and I said yes because I only realized how bad it was after I washed my hair. I had to go to another place so they could try to fix this mess. If you just want a nice professional business haircut, STAY AWAY!

Get hooked up in Rice Village? Yes you can. Give them a quick call to get an idea of the wait time. I generally go right when they open around 7AM. Ask for the close fade. Im losing my hair worst then LeBron James and he still made it look good.

Ronnie was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! My 16 year old son, as picky as he is, IMMEDIATELY decided that Ronnie would be his barber from now on! The shop was located in a nice area, and the atmosphere was pleasant. My sons hair NEVER looked better! Thank you again, Ronnie....you have a customer as long as we are living here in Houston!

Oh my Lord! This is one of the worst experiences ever. The Gentleman doing the hair cut DOES NOT seem to have ever learned how to do a hair cut. Place is sloppy. He does not have the hands or the stance of a barber. If you have a 4 year old a comb and a pair of scissors you would see more skills and finesse than this guy. Maybe he has Multiple Sclerosis with numb hands, maybe he has some other disability but he should not be doing hair cuts. The $37 stung even more because I have had many $5,$10, or $15 cuts that were far superior than this fellow. I wish I had videotaped it and could show it to some Licensing organization to see where and how did this guy PASS to get a License- ABSOLuTELY AWFUL and ridiculously expensive for a super amateur!

Folks, if you skip Sunday church is Ok, because they have miracles on shelves over here! It doesnt matter what you look like, youre gonna walk out fresh regardless! Dont worry if youre looking droopy or raggedy or hungover or whatever, youll walk out fresh! You can even bring your girl with you and shell get a glass of wine so she dont look at you mad while she wait. Overall, it was a great find in the West Univeristy area, true Houstonian vibes and great service.

This is the worst placer ever. Please reconsider before getting you hair cut here. Mine looks like a mess. I had to go to another barbershop to fix it and still i have to wait until it grows again. They treated me well but still my haircut was NOT ok.
