Great school with great instructors. Even during covid-19 doing outside classes it is impressive. Gets us out of the house! Recently Mr. Exaros organized a 3 month long Olympics with different events each week at home which was fun. A young girl won the grand trophy at the end that was bigger than she is... Her parents couldnt fit the trophy in the trunk of the car 😁 I am a student with both my son and daughter, and I highly recommend for kids, teens and adults. An activity for life.

We cannot say enough about this dojo. I am not one to normally write reviews about places however Mr.Exaros has been so incredible I couldnt help but speak about him, his family, and his dedication to being a treasured mentor to those fortunate enough to be a part of the dojo. I have never met someone who is so passionate about his job and helping kids. Throughout the pandemic he never stopped putting the health and welfare of our kids ahead of everything else and that continues. The way that he makes sure to continue to throw in extra activities and opportunities when others have just thrown in the towels speaks volumes of how special of a person Mr.Exaros is. Our son has been part of this dojo for many years now and we have seen him grow in not only his physical abilities to perform certain karate techniques, but also his self confidence and mental strength has grown tremendously.

I started training at East Montgomery Martial Arts when I turned 50. I wanted to switch up my workout routine and thought it would be a nice way to spend time with my teenage daughter. It is a great workout and a nice way to remove ourselves from the busyness of life. The discipline and respect that is taught in the dojo is invaluable to our young children and teenagers and will serve them well as adults.

I have studied at East Montgomery Karate Academy for 16 years. As a child, I quickly fell in love with learning the techniques and enjoyed my training. As I matured, I found that my training helped me to stay focused in school and increased my self confidence and self awareness. These attributes were increased upon receiving my black belt and joining staff. Now, as an adult, I have found that my karate training has helped me in the work place. I learned at a young age how to be a professional and am able to carry that into my first real job. I would recommend East Montgomery Karate Academy to anyone interested in the Martial Arts. In addition to weekly classes, the academy conducts karate camps, picnics, and so many other fun activities!!

Sensei Parys on Mondays class went above and beyond for my son this week. After a long day of Kindergarten, coming home to do some chores and homework, my son tripped on his way going into the dojo and the days frustration and exhaustion was finally too much for him. He was hysterical for a few minutes, and I couldnt calm him down. Sensei took time out of organizing the class of 17 other students, and personally addressed him, calmed him down, and encouraged him to join the class. Ive seen professional academic teachers without the ability he has. Its rare to find someone so well rounded in a personal and professional manner. It meant a lot to my son, and myself. He went onto have a fantastic time in class. This is the only dojo in the area that offers a traditional Japanese style of learning. An individual experience for each child and parent, with teachers that enjoy teaching, and enjoy teaching and being around children. Its operated as first, a passion by the head instructor, and a business second.

I entered East Montgomery Martial Arts Academy in March 2003 at the age of 43.While I had trained in martial arts in my early 20s, I had spent the subsequent years trying to find a dojo with the right feel for me. My nervousness about joining into a class with people with much more experience and physical stamina was quickly dissipated. Every class was filled with people (many quite a bit younger than me) ready to help me out. The instructors practice respect for all students of all levels and require the same between students.Do you ever have a day when you are too much in your head and are feeling stressed out. I have found that spending an hour working hard and putting all of my energy into physical performance clears worries out of my mind, as well as giving that endorphin boost. Win-win!I have developed many strong friendships with people of varied backgrounds and ages, and truly feel cared for within my Kokoro Kai family. These connections are invaluable to me, these are my classmates, social circle, and playmates (camp, adventure club activities).I would recommend the East Montgomery Martial Arts Academy particularly to the more mature student interested in always learning more: physical fitness, martial arts forms (kata), weapons, positive approach to life, and ways to calm your mind.

All of Mr. Exaros teachers are trained by him and are professional, technically skilled, and work incredibly well with children. I like the variety of teachers (age, gender, style, etc) as they all bring a slightly different style to the consistent curriculum rooted in discipline, respect, and hard work. My daughter has enjoyed the teachers, the training, and her classmates. Her confidence has increased and karate training has benefited her in many other sports. Class scheduling is flexible at East Montgomery, making it easy to have a multi-sport child. Mr. Exaros has a deep commitment to the community and improving the lives of the children in the community, whether partnering with the township police, to provide informational sessions on relevant issues in our community or providing self-defense classes. There is also a strong sense of community within the dojo, similar to a traditional sports team. There are semi-annual Shiais (like a recital or tournament) and frequent group events, tailored to specific age groups (e.g. hikes, 5Ks, overnight camps, Kids Night Out). I consider Mr. Exaros an expert in his field and a lifelong learner of the martial arts with a passion for his students.

The Rock family has been part of the East Montgomery Martial Arts program since 1996. We started with our oldest son Ray joining when he was 6 years old. The program reinforced his confidence and respect, while teaching him life skills as well as karate. Ray was promoted to black belt, then moved to NYC to attend NYU, and now lives in Brooklyn as a successful young man. We credit Mr. Exaros and the EMMA for contributing to Rays success. Our second son Michael started also when he was 6. Michael has thrived in the program, and now at 22 and a third degree blackbelt, is still actively engaged with the Dojo. The Dojo taught Michael life skills along with respect and understanding responsibility. Michael is now at Drexel University and pursuing his career in sports management. The Dojo has been a key tenant in Michaels development, and we are thankful for the role that Mr. Exaros and the EMMA community has played. We now have our 17 year old daughter Natalie in the Dojo. She started when she was 6, and is now a brown belt. The experience they give a young lady is uniquely rare and very important in todays world. Natalie has developed confidence, and is more prepared than most of her peers to be self reliant as she gets ready to go to college. As parents, we are deeply grateful to the program that Mr. Exaros has developed and shared with our children as they were growing up. I would highly recommend them to anyone, and would be happy to discuss with any inquiring parents. Thank you EMMA!

Everyone is friendly and treats each other with the utmost of respect. The instruction is top-notch and it is wonderful to see how the higher-ranking belts all take part to help the lower-ranking students improve. The facility is well equipped and spotless, the hours work very well for us, and there is plenty of parking. My son started BJJ to supplement his wrestling training in the off season. The BJJ program is very hands on and they do a lot of sparring. This has really helped with his conditioning, and this past season he was in noticeably better shape than many of his opponents. He has been able to incorporate some BJJ techniques into his wrestling, giving him a competitive advantage. The training has also really helped him with his strength and flexibility. He now likes BJJ much more than wrestling.Ive also been very impressed with the attention the Dojo pays to safety. It seems that my son gets some kind of injury every week in wrestling, but that has never been the case here. People are much more aware and in control of what they are doing, and I believe that is instilled from the top down.Im very thankful that my son is part of this institution.

I joined the East Montgomery Karate Academy (EMKA) sometime in the late 1990s. The Academy has played a very large part in the individual that I have developed into today. The EMKA, among other things, taught me self-discipline and how to respect others. Moreover, the EMKA not only taught me how to be a Martial Artist, but also taught me how to be a successful individual in life. If it wasnt for the EMKA, I do not believe that I would be preparing to go to law school this fall. I thank Mr. Exaros for not only teaching me karate, but also teaching me how to be a better individual in life. If it was not for the EMKA, I do not believe that I would be where I am today.
