Adopted two kittens from there recently. Great experience. Everyone there that we dealt with was caring and helpful. The kittens were there for a while as they got over a virus they arrived in. Its clear that they were very well cared for during their time at Baypath since they are cuddly kittens who love attention. This would not be the case unless the people at Baypath were great about socializing and taking care of the kittens. Thanks Baypath for your great work!

Had to do a long application to adopt a cat, the lady told me I could pick up the cat the next day. I arrive and they told me to go away and that I need an appointment. Which I did a whole process already for the cat, had to repeat myself over the phone for the cat again. Than I drive there and I was told I didnt have an appointment which was a lie cuz I was told the day before about it. Than I was told other people wanted the same cat after I arrived there. Wasnt told that after all this unnecessary stuff about adoption that they choose the right owner and Id have to wait weeks to even receive the animal after paying 300$. Like why would anyone want to go through this trouble for a cat.

Love Baypath ! I have been a volunteer at Baypath for 4 years, I also have adopted a dog and fostered kittens. What drew me to Baypath to volunteer was the love that the staff and the other volunteers have for the animals, and how the animals are treated on a day-to-day basis. They are not stuck inside the building inside their kennels they get multiple walks, playtime, and enrichment every day and lots of love! They also have an amazing network of foster families, this is a great way for the animals, cats and dogs to be in a home setting, maybe an animal that needs a little more attention or needs to focus on a certain behavior. they do everything they can for the animals to give them their best life.I’ve seen a few reviews of people disappointed they didn’t get to take home an animal. this is not a pet shop, they want to make sure that each animal gets in the appropriate home to thrive and to stay in that home and not be returned for whatever reason it may be, whether it’s a cat peeing outside of a litter box or a dog that’s jumpy. Baypath employees pay attention to detail of each animal to place it in the correct home, which I love and wish every shelter would do.I personally volunteer with the dogs and I get to see a lot of what the public doesn’t see, we take the dogs on field trips and Sometimes for sleepovers, we do different activities with them. such as training classes, take them swimming, hiking, pet store etc.So for those looking for their next furry friend please don’t let the few negative reviews deter you elsewhere. Go to Baypath! I know some feel the adoption process may feel daunting, just know it is in the best interest of the animal and you and your family! To everyone who works or volunteers at Baypath keep up the great work, thanks for all you do!

The staff go above and beyond to make us feel welcome every week.I became a temporary foster for a dog a few years back. He had tested positive for heart worm upon arriving at Baypath. It was love at first sight when I met this dog Frankie (then Ernie). Frankie had a long road to recovery. The support from the staff at Baypath throughout his treatment was unwavering. I have been involved with Baypath Humane Society as both a volunteer and as an adopter for many years. They have helped so many animals find their forever homes. They dont discriminate because of age or breed. If any animal is in need of extraordinary medical care or treatment they find a way to get it done. If an animal has a terminal condition, they find foster homes so the animal can live the remainder of its life in a loving and nurturing environment. I have so much respect for the organization because I have seen first hand how much love and devotion they have for every single animal and how they dont give up. They fight for every single animal every day.

My sister and I came here to adopt a dog. The person helping us INSTANTLY met us with nothing but criticism and negativity. Let me start by saying I know the process of adopting a dog isn’t easy and you have to get to know them. There’s also a lot to learn in having a dog and caring for them. That said, this person instantly went on a 15-20 min rent about how and why she shouldn’t have a dog. She criticized my sisters living situation(despite it being a stable one) as well as having a car and a number of other things. She then went on to describe all the dogs being fostered and why she couldn’t have any of them. Furthermore she refused to even let us visit the one dog they had there.Awful, unkind, straight up rude and a terrible experience for a stable adult looking for a first time adoption. I’d give zero stars if I could. I cannot even begin to express the level of disappointment and anger I feel after leaving this place and seeing how affected and discouraged my sister was from the adoption process.I’d say don’t come here but dogs need homes. Come for the dogs, ignore the people.

I adopted my first cat from Baypath a few years ago and they were super helpful in calming the nerves of this first-time cat owner. I dropped off some dry food that my cat wasnt eating, and made a comment about how she wasnt much of an eater and that that worried me a bit. They immediately gave me some food that they knew picky kitties liked, all without my asking. They didnt need to do that, but it was this going above-and-beyond that made we want to volunteer at Baypath and do my (little) part in helping the animals as I know the staff at Baypath does. Seeing first hand how much care and compassion they give to these animals is incredible. They really are looking out for the welfare of the dogs and cats and do their utmost to place them in homes that they believe will be good for the animal and adopters.

As a CPDT certified trainer, I have been involved with Baypath both as an adopter and a volunteer. Under the direction of Liz Jefferis, the Shelter Director, I have watched Baypath evolve over the past decade plus, to become a model shelter. They employ all the techniques and science-based protocols that provide an enriching, stress-reducing environment for the animals in their care. Their staff is well-trained, knowledgeable and is concerned first and foremost with ensuring that animals are being placed with the greatest chance of a successful match. Anyone can send a dog or cat out the door, the key is ensuring that once that animal leaves it never has to endure another transition, that it truly has happily found its forever home. Baypath truly excels in that endeavor!

I am surprised to see people giving this organization poor reviews. I found them to be dedicated to animals and placing them in appropriate homes. Those unable to adopt, there must have been a reason they did not feel it was a good fit. They adopt over a thousand animals each year. If they didnt let anyone adopt, this number would be zero. When you go there you should realize they are trying to deal with phone calls, visitors and animals. This is not a pet shop, they are not trying to sell the animals to you. They cannot tell you what they do not know. Many of these animals were strays, so there is no history or definite age. Once you meet an animal, if you dont feel a strong and loving bond, this animal is not for you. Please dont be discouraged by the negative reviews. We just found our perfect companion and could not be more thrilled. They didnt force her on us, did not lie and tell me what I wanted to hear. They shared what they knew and let me and her bond, which we did....

Ive been a fan of Baypath for quite some time. Its not only an incredibly well run shelter with healthy & happy animals getting all the best in love, treatment, & support & transitions, but also a phenomenally run non-profit. Let me explain, whenever I donate I always want to know what the overheard costs are -- how much is really going to charity? Well, Baypath is incredibly transparent in their dealings -- you can view their financials... Like myself, youll wonder HOW DO THEY DO IT? Executive Director Elizabeth Jefferis & her team (especially shelter manager Cornellia) set an example for animal shelters across the country. If youre looking to adopt a pet, this is where Id go. If youre looking to donate to a local charity? This is where Id go. If you happen to be in charge of an endowment fund, please reach out & ask about their capital campaign -- their long terms goals promise to be a resource to not only Hopkinton, but animals & other shelters throughout the Commonwealth.

I wish I could give a zero. Horribly rude staff and hate that the dogs are kept outside in not clean pens in 90 weather and an extremely humid day with little to no water in their bowls, so much for passion for animals? I’ve been to and volunteered at several kill shelters in Miami and Georgia and they even know better in this heat it’s not far for the dogs!I asked to see and adopt a puppy and this older short haired employee REFUSED me service because I’m planning on having a family some day, implying that I’m pregnant (I am not! I just had surgery so I look bloated in my stomach). I have had dogs all my life and know that is totally false. You can’t judge a 4 month old puppy with a non existent child again I’m not pregnant but her attitude and looks made me feel like she thought I was lying!I also asked to see a cattle dog that required prior experience. I was also REFUSED without even being asked if I’ve ever had any type of herding dog experience. I have had nothing but herding dogs my whole life!!!Further more when my fiancé asked why the employee didn’t think getting a puppy now would be okay if we planned on having children in a few year like 3-5 years she said “because they bite” a 3-5 year old dog who is trained should not be biting. After saying this to the employee he stated that our friend is an animal behaviorist and we also know a vet who both said now is the time to get a puppy she simply said “they don’t know anything” excuse me ma’am? Can I see your degrees?Absolutely horrible “humane society” terrible service extremely rude staff. Dirty looking facility with tarps all over and signs not to look behind them? MISLEADING PRACTICES AND RUDE MANAGEMENT Visited the shelter last week to make a donation that my 12 year old son saved his money to purchase items on the shelters wish list. Was told rudely by the manager, leave it over there without even a thank you. Fine, we do it for the pets. We started the adoption process that day for a puppy we fell in love with, the final stage which was supposed to be today, the meet and greet with my other dogs. Upon arrival we could not find the puppy outside, even though when I spoke to the shelter yesterday they said she would be back there today for the meet and greet (she was in foster). Walking in with my two children upon inquiring i was told , SHES NOT HERE. SHE WAS ADOPTED THIS MORNING. After talking to the shelter yesterday and confirming that my references had completed their calls, the shelter informed me I was the only applicant and that I just needed to come in for the meet and greet. When I told her that, the manager waved a clipboard at me and said, your references never called back. A LIE. (Both sent me screenshots of their phone records detailing the time and duration of the call after the managers response today) I told her that I had spoken with the references after their calls and was sure that they did speak with the facility and was rudely dismissed with a They did not call. Horrified as there was families around and my 2 children were now confused and devastated, I opted to leave as not to upset those around. Stopping at another shelter on the way home as I now had two heartbroken children, the woman at the front took one look at their faces and I began the we were at the final stages of adopting a dog and she said Oh no,,,, dont tell me.... Baypath. Apparently this happens quite a bit there recently, as recently as someone who posted earlier today about the same thing happening to them today, which was promptly removed. The Board of Directors need to take a hard look at the practices of this shelter and the management.

The animals were great! We were going to adopt one cat and ended up adopting two! One 9months and one 8yrs old! They asked for references and called them to make sure the animals were going to a good home! We love our new fur babies!

I called to check if I can come by to look at and talk about foster/adopting a cat for my kids. An extremely rude Eloise answered with pretty much No! No foster..we are very low on cats. Not a place you can bring your kids to play with cats. etc etc. Sheeshh...my kids are cat lovers. We have good intentions and not playing with their cats. Please change your tone. Rescue animals need better spokespeople than this!

The staff was extremely rude Im not saying the volunteers Im saying the direct staff!! I went there today an man do I feel bad for those poor dogs they put so much dirt on these dogs names!! They literally make it impossible to adopt Ive had over 5 of my friends go there to try to adopt ans save a poor puppy and they made them feel the same way i felt completely (disrespected)!!! My friends all now have dogs now because they went to a way better shelter! I strongly recommend u not to go here if you are a serious inquire!!!

My boyfriend and I stopped by with the intention of meeting some dogs as we are looking to adopt one soon. It was crowded when we got there so we wandered around and looked at the dogs on site. We met a fantastic volunteer who answered some of our questions about a couple of the dogs. We decided we wanted to meet 2 of the older dogs and went to find an employee to do so. That employee was extremely negative, judgemental and condescending and went on and on about how we would be a terrible fit for those 2 dogs and all of their others despite being responsible, active people with some dog ownership experience, and owning a house with a yard. After listening to all that, we expressed our interest to still meet the 2 dogs so we could see how they interacted with us. She instead got another employee to give us the same spiel, so we left very frustrated, without meeting the dogs. Needless to say, we will not be returning and will look elsewhere for our adoption.

Absolutely amazing. We were working with a few different shelters and organizations and Baypath was on a whole different level. I would highly recommend adopting a pet here!

This group is special. They do so much more than the average shelter can ever imagine. They have a tremendous presence in Jamaica with Tammy Browne and Montego Bay Animal Haven. They are CRITICAL to the work Tammy does in Jamaica. Please adopt from them and show your support as they rescue animals in all kinds of predicaments. Their mission is so wonderful.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. They are not interested in finding the right match and dont care about disappointing people. They discriminated against my elderly mother due to her age and werent honest about it.
