We had an amazing time! It was a highlight of our trip if not my favorite thing. We enjoyed ourselves so much we booked another session at the end of our week. Sam and Ridge were very supportive! They explained things so well. They made us feel comfortable and were so encouraging. We laughed at ourselves and celebrated too. Im no expert surfer now but they made us feel like we were awesome. I could hear them cheering behind me and were genuinely invested in our experience. If I was a boss somewhere hiring for any job and either one of them wanted a job Id hire them! Put a great face on the company. Wish we could go back and hang with them in the water again! Some day.

What a fun, positive experience! They communicated the change in location well, and everyone seemed to genuinely love what they were doing. No pressure to buy the photos, but I’m glad I did— excellent shots. Enjoy this experience, should you book it!

I rented a SUP from surf HNL and had a great experience. They were very friendly and accommodating. I had never been to Ala Moana beach and had only surfed once before so they gave me a few quick pointers before I headed out. They are located right on the beach which is very convenient. Would highly recommend 👍🏻

My sister and I booked a lesson and had Sam and Ridge as our instructors. This was by far one of our favorite things we did. We loved it so much, we booked again specifically with Sam and Ridge. These two were amazing. They were great instructors, great at helping and guiding us through our lesson and cheered us on like rockstars!. They by far made this experience what it was! If you are considering this experience, DO IT!! I hope to go back and do this again with them!

I had a great time at Surf HNL! My instructor Nate was patient, friendly, and helpful. He got some good photos too! By the end of my lesson I managed to ride several waves standing up. Would definitely recommend.

Surf HNL was the best experience!! The instructors were extremely helpful as our group was varied in age and ability. They made us feel safe the whole time and went out of their way to make sure we had a terrific experience. The highlight of our trip.

Just had a private lesson with Nate today to brush up on my surfing fundamentals (I’ve taken a few classes previously but forgot a lot of it). Nate was a patient and kind instructor, and he gave me a bunch of tips to improve. I caught a few waves under his guidance—I highly recommend learning with Surf HNL!

Move your ugly van! You don’t have a boat at Kewalo Basin and should not have a parking permit. It’s unfair to boat owners to use our parking as a cheap convenient storage unit.

My sons wanted to learn how to surf, and SurfHNL were great. They were patient and informative. Both boys caught some waves by the end of the lesson. We would book lessons with them again.

My husband and I brought our 6 and 7 year olds for surf lessons and we all had so much fun! The instructors were so amazing and patient with the kids and with us! We had the most fun! We will definitely be going back for more on our next trip! I wish we could have stayed out there all day with them! Amazing and 5 stars all the way!

I am a travel agent and booked with this company for my niece to learn how to surf. Her instructor, Nate, was very friendly, helpful, and very attentive. We couldn’t have been happier with the service he provided. I would definitely recommend them!

My kids are 9 and 5 and loved their surf lesson with Nate and his team. They were patient, kind, and took great care with the kids. They had an absolute blast and Nate was kind enough to take some pictures and videos with his GoPro while they were out in the water. Highly recommend them for first time surf lessons, especially for kids!

What a great team of surf instructors these guys and girls are!!! I was uneasy about the whole idea of surfing because Im a plus size and just the waves in general, but this... definitely was my highlight of Hawaii. From the beginning, Jon was amazing, actually all the instructors were... Jon, was with me the entire step of the way and just made me feel safe in general. I really appreciate the care he and this company took in order for me to learn how to surf. Definitely wish I would of booked earlier in my trip so I could book another lesson.

These awesome surfers provided my family ages 4-40 an amazing time. They were attentive, amazing with my kids (4 and 5 yo), and made sure our whole group had a great time and weree successful and safe. It was the personal attention we were looking for in surfing lessons. We could not be happier with our experience. Dont skip out on the media package, our pictures from here were a highlight of our family vacation.

Ray was great at following up and also informative. Kiley and the SNL crew had my daughter riding waves in the first 10 minutes in the water. This will be a regular stop for us when we visit Hawaii!

Fantastic experience with expert and patient trainers! Communication was on point - from the moment we arrived in Hawaii Girls Who Surf confirmed the reservations, made sure we knew where we were going and offered great restaurant ideas (where the locals go) after the lesson. The best part that we did not know before the lesson is Girls Who Surf take photos and video of us while we are getting our lesson! A super way to remember hanging ten in paradise!!! Thank you Girls Who Surf!!! We will be back for more lessons!! :D

We went to this location looking for another surf school that we discovered is now closed. SurfHnl was so nice and accommodating. They took my two girls, ages 10 and 16, as a walk up. They had the best experience. I wish we had done it earlier in our visit so we could do it twice. You have to option at the end to purchase the photos and video that they took during the lesson. The instructors work very hard to give each person plenty of attention. The younger kids are 1 on 1 riding tandem with the instructor. The guy with my oldest daughter would bounce between two students. It works out fine, because while one student is riding a wave in, he’s helping the others out in the water get ready to catch a wave. I would recommend this surf school, and we would definitely do it again.

Its a perfect hang 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. Its great for kids as young as three because theres a surfing dog to go with young children and each child has a person on the board with him or her. Its a safety first operating AND incredible fun. We did lessons again we liked it so much. All four of us surfed and stood up. Great organization

We met up with our surf instructor Cherry last Saturday at Eisenhower Beach.We spent some time on land reviewing the basics and going over tips & pointers that were new to me (even after having done 2 other surf classes with other agencies).Those tips proved invaluable once we got out on the water. They allowed me to catch my own waves, how to not wipe out in the whitewash and how to ride the wave as long as possible.I can confidently say that my friends and I had a blast and will definitely be taking another class from Surf HNL (Kapolei) again!! Love love LOVE the crew at Surf HNL!! We live near Nimitz Beach, the location that Surf HNL uses for lessons on the west side of Oahu. Ive been back twice now for lessons - first by myself and then with some friends and visitors. The staff is professional, encouraging and fun - what more could you ask for when learning to surf? Everyone in our party got up on the board and had a GREAT time. I highly recommend Surf HNL - you will LOVE them!

My 10yr old son has a blast. The teacher made the first experience caching waves unforgettable. He stills remember how amazing was that day. I was surprise he can learn with just one lesson. So, I highly recommend them.

My wife and I had never surfed. We took a lesson on our honeymoon from Surf HNL. Casey and Iniki were our teachers. They were great teachers. They kept it simple. We both were up and surfing in our first couple tries. Their price was competitive for the area -- 109 $/person for 2 hours of lessons and surfing. Getting the pictures and video was a little more expensive than I thought at 60 $ for a DVD with all the pictures and video. Overall, it was a great experience -- one of the best of our lives!

AWESOME TIME!!! This was our second trip to Hawaii. Booked with Surf HNL again. Signed both kids up for 2hr lessons. Staff was excellent! Would highly recommend choosing Surf HNL. Pictures and video were amazing.

Well it would be a great place for tennis if I play tennis. Its a great beach is at the very end of Alamo park The last beach on the right you will.

Loved our lessons with Girls Who Surf! Our whole family was able to surf and play in the waves- even our 9 year-old daughter was able to get up thanks to the staff. What a great experience, the whole staff was full of the aloha spirit and eager to share this wonderful sport with us Colorado folks! They were so thorough in their teaching and they were very helpful. I would bring a cooler of ice-water and snacks for the family as surfing takes a lot out of you!

Great time surfing with these guys and gals. This would have been my 4th time out with them over the last couple of years. A lesson and a bunch of board rentals. They are my go to when Im vacationing there. No worries about a ride either because theyll pick you up!

This may be my first review ever, my experience was that good. I had a private lesson with Miku, who is an EXCELLENT instructor. She gave clear directions, and was very helpful, encouraging, and fun out in the water. Would do again 10/10.

Instructors were great! Our family has had three surfing lessons and Surf HNL was by far the best! First timers in our group were killing it!

The adults did a group lesson and the kids each did a private. We had taken some lessons on Waikiki, but its always crowded. There was literally no one there on the beach while we were in the water. We had a fantastic time, and the kids were wild about it.

We took a small group lesson and the instructor took some photos and videos of us during the lesson. The confirmation email I said it would be available for additional pay. I wasn’t happy about it because I was told that other places would burn you a dvd for pictures and videos taken during the lesson without extra cost. However, I was willing to pay for our memory. I didnt even get to see any of them. It was our first lesson and I was anxious to see the videos. I regret that I didn’t cancel the lesson. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Look for other places for your surfing lesson.

Absolutely incredible experience! We had an amazing time and the instructors, Mike, Kris, Nicole, and Andrew were so knowledgeable and friendly. They even brought a gopro so we had AMAZING pictures of our lesson ! It was seriosuly like hanging out with friends. If you are looking for awesome instruction and a good time hit them up!

I’ve been going to Surf HNL for years. Without exception these guys know what they are doing and are absolutely fantastic with kids. Quite honestly, they’re also great with big “kids” like me and have shared helpful pointers that have improved my own surfing. They are incredibly accommodating and are flexible as situations constantly change with family life.My oldest son was initially apprehensive about paddling out but the Surf HNL team was so patient and helpful that he quickly overcame his fears. He initially rode tandem with an instructor and eventually learned to surf on his own board. Jon has worked with my son and daughter for years and it’s been fun to build the teacher/student relationship over time. This past trip my son also worked with Chase at the Eisenhower beach location and had a blast.I can’t recommend these guys enough as they are terrific instructors and just good down-to-earth people. They teach at two locations: a break called Concessions at Magic Island near Ala Moana shopping center and Eisenhower beach which is close to Ko’olina. Both locations are fun. Ask for Raynette to book a lesson or even a weeklong set of lessons like what we normally do. You and your family will be thrilled!

The instructors were friendly but I was very disappointed with what I paid for. If you choose them book a group lesson. That’s all you’ll get even if you pay for private. Save your money and just rent a board.I booked a two hour private lesson online in advance which was to include “30 minutes land instruction & 90 minutes surfing time” and “One to one student to instructor ratio”.When I arrived I was put into a group of five other students with four instructors. I said that I purchased a private lesson, but one instructor said he would spend most of his time with me.We were given about 10 minutes where we were shown how to stand up in three steps, did a group stretch, and headed into the water. During that time I probably spent 20-30min with my instructor and received little advice. Instead I was told surfing was learned through “trial and error”.

Surf lesson was great. However, do not waste your money on that clown they hired to take pictures and video of you. Most of the photos were selfies of him. Complete waste of $60.
