Every tutor has been helpful to my son and in direct contact with his teacher to help align their educational services with the weekly lessons his teacher is teaching in class. My son was really struggling to understand certain math and reading concepts around November 2019 but since has developed more confidence, enjoys going to tutoring and most importantly is demonstrating he is showing progress at school in those subject areas as to date going on the end of January 2020.

I’ve been working with Colleen Dunlavy for the past two and half years. I was working on completing my bachelors in education. She is responsive and ready to help with any topic. Scheduling time with her was very easy. She goes above and beyond in every aspect. Every bump i crossed, Colleen was there to not only help, but to motivate and lift my spirit! I could not be more pleased with my experience with Colleen and he friendly staff! I would not have completed my program with a high GPA without her!What a fantastic resource, great tutor, I could not be happier!

I have never been to a tutoring place who places so much emphasis on helping their students grow. This has to be the most supportive place ever. Every tutor is super helpful and they really care about their students. I started coming here for SAT and ACT prep and it has been one of the best decisions ever. I have seen tremendous growth since Ive started. If you are debating on coming here, I say go because I felt so prepared while sitting for these standardized tests.

Positive attitude and supportive staff make this learning center the place to bring your child! The ACT/SAT prep was so successful that my daughter raised one individual part of the ACT 5 points and overall 2 big points. The staff is encouraging and kind and made this a place where she felt welcome. Thank you to the entire staff and especially Colleen.

I am so incredibly grateful for Colleen Dumlavy and her staff at Sylvan/ Homewood. After one conversation, she set up a meeting with my 17 year old son, and developed a plan to help him get caught up after extended absences due to health issues. She is incredibly knowledgeable, resourceful, flexible kind, respectful and patient; I cannot say enough. My son has been very resistant to getting help with school work, but he willingly worked with Colleen and her staff even during the Covid-19 school closures remotely. She was incredibly supportive and helped him regain confidence in his academic abilities. He was caught up with concepts in math (Algebra 2) and science (Chemistry) within one month, all make up work, and completed an English research paper. Colleen’s passion for teaching, and her positive, “can do” encouragement is admirable and I would highly recommend this center to any students!

Colleen is the absolute BEST!!!!! She is so dedicated to working with students and make sure you put your best foot forward as a student. I have been working with her since my Junior year of high school, and I am now on my way to college. It is sad for me to depart from her because she was a tremendous help in all of my subjects! If you are looking to do one-on-one tutoring with someone who CARES, pick Colleen!!!!!!!

My grandson started at Sylvan over a year and a half ago. Definitely improvement in math and reading. Colleen and her staff is really great. Best choice ever.

Amazing place and cheerful atmosphere. Kids really do learn here. I take my 7 yr old brother and he loves it. I love as well especially when he comes home excited and WANTING to do math.

My daughter is 9 and she hated to read. Unfortunately, her scores in reading and comprehension were starting to decline. I brought her to Sylvan for the Summer program. Now it is fall and she claims that reading is now her favorite subject!!!! She told me that since she came to Sylvan she understands reading better so she can enjoy it. Also, her reading scores have drastically improved. The tutors at Sylvan tested her to find her weakness and worked hard to not just strengthen her skills but to compliment what she already knew. I would recommend this Sylvan to anyone that wants to see a drastic change in their childs learning!!!! It Works!!!

The Director is a real gem. Shes so helpful and insightful. She will set up a plan to help your child excel. She and her staff are warm and friendly n they actually care!

I enrolled my daughter in Sylvans ACT prep class for 5 weeks and 1 day. She raised her ACT score from a 17 to a 22. She is going to take the test one more time. She is shooting for a 27. She will have 8 weeks to prep....YAY !!!! Go Sylvan....

I was enrolled in homework help in math, and ACT support. My ACT score was a 17 and when I took the test again it was 24. Sylvan has built my confidence, and given me skills to succeed.

Sylvan helped my daughter increase her Act score 3 points in 3 weeks. Colleen was very accommodating with working around my daughters school, work, and track schedule.

Updating my review from 3 stars to 5 starsI got a call from the staff to follow up on my review, which is so refreshing! We discussed my concerns and they were receptive and willing to understand my point of view.We have continued the sessions for the summer and my 2nd grader is already becoming more confident with math.Got a Groupon for my 2nd grader, very nice, they asked questions and listened to my concerns, my 2nd grader has had positive things to say about the tutors he has interacted with. I have heard staff make comments about parents/potential clients personally - very unprofessional thing to do.
