Went as an early birthday celebration with my mom and Aunt. Ordered the Cattipilar roll and rainbow roll, both came looking absolutely stunning, even the left overs looked great!! Price really isnt that bad, I think the one was $17?? Fish is excellent,

Enjoyed a lovely evening meal at Wasabi’s. We were graciously greeted and shown to our table. After a few minutes we were asked if we would like a better view table by the window as those patrons had left. Can’t say enough about the wait staff, very welcoming. We had the most beautiful view of the bay. The appetizers and sushi were delish! Don’t miss a chance to try all the fresh fish sushi selections. All local and good!!

If you want sushi that’s way too big to fit in your mouth come here. Service was decent with somewhat friendly staff. Sushi tasted like something from a grocery store. Also everyone’s sushi was on the same plate and if you wanted the food plated separately it’ll cost you $10. Don’t waste your money.

The hostess was incredibly rude. We were told we couldn’t dine in without a reservation. Which is fine, but she told us they had “plenty of room but you people need to make a reservation first.” I asked how can I do that and she said “try again tomorrow”.

Will never return to this establishment. The food is subpar at best and the staff/ownership is worse. There are so many better options in town, dont drive all the way out east end to be disappointed.

Its unfortunate that I have to write this, but while the sushi was great, the service was not. As paraplegic with a service animal, being accosted for having a service animal with me is not acceptable behavior for any business. I will not be returning and the would suggest anyone else with service animals avoid this establishment as they are outright hostile.

Fabulous food and service! Wow! Super clean, classy, and attentive servers. Otter stew, sushi, shrimp tempura. Great drink menu. Great menu. Weekly specials. You get what you pay for. Sushi bar needs a tip jar—unsung heroes. Get hoisin sauce on the side for the edamame. Need a new song playlist.

Why one star you may ask well here are a few reasons, as some one who enjoys quality sushi I had high expectations after reading other reviews. This sushi was... well let’s say it was one step up from gas station sushi it just wasn’t very good. Their salmon sushi was sockeye for heavens sake, everyone knows for salmon you use king or silver. The role I ordered was below sub-par also the miso soup was very watery and lacked seaweed. The way you order was also very confusing, if you come here you mark your order on the menu with a pen, there now you know cause they won’t tell you. If you want good quality sushi in Alaska don’t go to Wasabi’s bistro go to Fuji in Fairbanks Alaska. In my conclusion a bar is a good thing they have cause drunk is the only way the sushi is tolerable.

Long wait for good food, worth the wait if you have time. Service is good, they try to make the best of what is provided to them. And very good about explaining the wait, although unjustified. View is outstanding. Maybe just swing by for a cocktail

I gave 2 stars because the food was good. We took our family there and spent $400. Worst service Ive ever had. They knew they had slapped a 20% tip on our bill no matter what. Thats why they treated us poorly. The server took my drink to fill it up and never brought it back. I asked 3 seperate times and she said she would bring it right back.. The worst part is the manager is great. After telling him what happened some lady came to bus our table making rude comments to my wife about her handing over an empty plate. I told him she doesnt have the right to treat my wife like that and he stated Im sorry thats the owner..... wow if this place had decent service would be an incredible spot!!!

Being in homer we wanted to try out what a local sushi business could do with the fresh local fishing that the town has going on. Wasabis Bistro from reviews and pictures looked like the best place to do so.The seating was by reservation only, and they seemed to be social distancing tables which was fine by us.We decided on a table out on the deck so we could get a great view of the ocean. Though the deck did not feel like it was in great condition as the paint was peeling with obvious parts of the deck having rotting issues. Anytime someone would walk out on the deck the whole thing would shake making me very nervous to be on the deck.To my surprise even though the restaurant looks like its advertised as a Japanese sushi restaurant there were no plum wine options nor options for traditional meals only rolls. I wanted to chalk it up to being pandemic related and having a limited menu but there was no notes on the menu and no advice given from the waitress other than you had to pick rolls. Some wait staff had masks on while others did not which concerned us and those who didnt have masks on came very close which concerned us as it seems they advertise as a higher class restaurant and I would figure they would standardize and place more emphasis on safety even if only perceived. Our waitress at first was slightly short with us and forgot about our drinks so we ended up getting them only slightly before the meal came out and as the sun was setting and the air was getting slightly chilly we hoped to get our hot drinks a little sooner. The rolls are pretty expensive and they advertise something like 12 pieces for some of their rolls but they are cut in half from what you would normally get so they are smaller slices of a roll. I believe their price would of been more fair if the slices were more of a normal size. I requested gluten free soy sauce which is always a toss up on whether a restaurant will have it or not which Wasabis Bistro did however it was several years expired and they brought out the whole quart of it instead of putting it in a smaller vessel.I have eaten sushi from many places across Alaska and on both coasts of the lower 48 and would not agree that this sushi restaurant is the best in Alaska, sadly I cannot say whether it is the best in Homer as we did not try any other sushi restaurant in Homer (we will next time).Maybe Wasabis Bistro was once a great place to get sushi but their outdated decor, aging building, and offering mostly sushi rolls would suggest that they need to rethink and re-energize their business.

Worst service I’ve had in Alaska, waited over 45 minutes to even order food after the waitress had been by our table multiple times; then the waitress forgot to give out ticket to the chef so we waited another hour and a half till the food showed up. When we got the food it was cold on top of all that. I will say the sushi rolls were decent but other then that won’t be going back there.

Walked in and was stared at, looked at me twice. So I walked to the man just looking at me. Ask if they sell sushi, he’s says “No, were closed. He’s out hunting.” Granted I go in with 40 minutes till close. But it was just me. I just wanted a nice little dinner. But nope. So I walked out, clearly not wanted.

TERRIBLE! Worst restuarant experience my family and I have EVER HAD! Who ever sat us was extremely rude, bartender had no clue what was in the drinks they were serving, we asked for refills and the server never came back with our drinks, waited 40 minutes for our food and when it finally got there it wasnt right or good. To make things even worse, bathrooms had no soap or paper towels and we waited another 30 minutes to get our check. We will never set foot in that restaurant ever again. I strongly suggest taking your family some where else.

This place is great. One of the best views for a restaurant on the continent. The service was fine, but the food was amazing. Dolly, the chef, came out to our table and I did not know she was the chef so I asked several questions mainly I wanted the rockfish plain without a Thai coconut sauce. She not only complied, but put the sauce on the side. My mistake. The sauce was amazing. The eggplant pâté was awesome too. It is a little down the road from the tourist traps which is a good thing. But as i said sit in the patio and take it all in.

I am a sushi fanatic. This is the place in Homer for the best Sushi.I live in Homer and have been loving Colts sushi for more than 10 years. His first sushi place was in the back corner of the Alibi Bar, the sushi was good then and it is great now. Go see Colt for sushi in Homer. If you arent into sushi, Dali colts wife and partner in Wasabis cooks an absolutely awesome Filet mignon, and the Halibut Butt Dip appetizer is my families favorite.

This place is shady. Without reservations you simply wait and cant get service to be seated. At the door there is a basement that has warning signs (look at photos below) On wasabi bistros website it sais it is not recommended for children. Something about this place gives me and my husband the creeps. Before considering eating there also look at customer reviews who mention high prices , staff rudeness as well as they add 20% tips automatically.
