Every time I go donate the staff is very friendly amd helpful. Also I called to donate a couch and they came at the time they said they would and the two guys were very friendly as well. I always donate here because I understand the goods go directly to people, not to be re-sold.

I found that donating to Broward Outreach Center was a nice experience I was greeted with smiles and three gentleman came out to my truck and brought all of what I brought inside .Many blankets and womens cloths so that women there can get dressed up to find a job . Its a shame, I do not have mens or childrens clothing, they surely need them .They will take anything you have as people get on their feet they leave with some household items as well.

I have referred many people to this outstanding facility if you happen to be in a position and you need housing clothing work training they offer up a program that lets you stay there for 60 and sometimes 90 days depending not only is this facility amazing but right next door to it is a place called Jubilee and Jubilee is amazing place for resources as well as you can apply for ID there you can get food clothing hygiene supplies as well as a lunch offer free Plus you can sign up for food stamps there you can sign up to have your mail sent there and you can sign up for Legal Services as well and many other services everybody meets in the morning behind the facilities so its actually the alleyway just south of Scott Street East of Dixie Highway if you need services this is a great place to get started and rebuild your life sincerely PJ and God bless your endeavor

The Broward Outreach was there back when I decided I needed somewhere to go while I reminded myself of who I am and who I am not.. for which Im sincerely grateful and appreciative.. I see it as a place, for those who are willing to apply the efforts needed, to rediscover their worth and better themselves.

I donate clothing here every other year or so.... I dont know what the experience is like for the homeless living here, but Im glad these individuals have a place to stay.Five stars for the friendly and helpful staff I meet over the years. Always seem like they care about the place. They offer hot meals to the homeless, and provide volunteer opportunities to schools and the community.Room where donated items are kept, and i think people just look through and take what they need.I do wish donators were allowed to go in and pass out clothes etc., So its farely divided among them .They give tax reduction receipts, so if you have in good condition items u dont use anymore....please dont throw and call someone to pick up or drop it off yourself.

I have never been here but I personally no a person who has been in and out at least 12 time I feel that this place is enabling him to be okay with him reverting back to his old ways so many times. This person knows how to play the system quite well once again he has lost everything do to his addiction sooner or later u would think B.O.C woulda be a little tougher on repeated mess ups. It is a homeless shelter. I gave it 5 stars because it has everything shelter supposed to have. There is place to sleep under the roof, dinner and breakfast, shower. Other amenities really dont belong here. One thing that would be nice to have is WiFi. If you are not ready to sleep after dinner, you really dont have much to do other than watch a movie and smoke.

This place is fake they sell you a bill of goods just to get grant money. They preach help and love then they throw you out and back on the streets. I volunteer here so I see first hand what goes on. Sure many of the homeless can never be helped do to mental illness but Im not referring to them. The public is blind to the abuse the staff wields on the helpless powerless homeless. People complain all the time about the abuse but no one cares their homeless. These arent nice people.

I believe every single 1-star rating here. Theres a transitional living center in Houston, TX called Star Of Hope (SOH). Each and every 1-star review here reminds me of the bitter/sweet experience I had there.Bitter, because the staff there was just as broken as, if not more broken than, those of us who needed the service. I stayed at SOH 11 months 4 years ago, and I got to see firsthand how cold, careless, and corrupt people in these positions can be.Sweet, because its a good program if all the RIGHT people applied to be employed there. They werent all bad, but, its like they give in to peer pressure or something; Im still talking about the staff, sadly. Some were on the fence about how they were going to treat me, it seemed, because I was very observant, well-spokened, wrote well, quiet, solo, kind and was NOT desperate to be friends or accepted by anyone.I went there to see how I could utilize the service for my needs, not misuse, but I realized that those people had other agendas in mind. I left because I wasnt going to sit like a duck while they plot their moves. I only wanted a fresh start in a different state, not buddies nor foe.People, this system is DONE! I mean, DOOMED. The people in positions are worst than the actual needy. Theyre wicked.Take care of yourselves and the vulnerable.Set-Apart Spirit

Visited and found the place inhumane to individual needs. A lot of laughing at the expense of the troubled souls there. Where do they hire these morons from is anyones guess. Staff takes home foods adjudicated for center and feed them the leftover garbage(as reported by mole that passed through). No help in guiding where to find affordable place for those who want to leave as soon as possible. The food stamps for individuals should not be taken from them, it should be against the law to do so. Its tantamount to getting in their wallet and stealing them. They are FUNDED, why steal the food stamps when they also get food to run place. People who are mentally ill and even felons come in and out like revolving door putting at risk distressed individuals who are there because theyre not momentarily able to pay rent somewhere. Mayor of Hollywood, GET ON THE BALL with the homeless situation and hire professionals not the present staff without an education who by the grace ofGod are not in the same predicament as those they are supposed to help. Its a disgrace to humanity and a shame they get funds to maintain and help and all that is accomplished is to keep these individuals in a constant chronic homeless state. SOMEONE IN GOVERNMENT WHO CARES, HELP!!!!

I was in BOC years ago they have serious issues with management of the services! Now I was here in the early 2000s first if they still do it they had a man who was a Dr of Religion he would run classes with visiting preachers etc of various faiths this was ok until (I am not against Muslims in any way!) there was a man there to teach about the Muslim faith and he started getting very aggressive and yelling about the White devil!! They threw him out and banned him! I don’t think they screen properly! The next issue was they said they would help me obtain my CDL! (This would have changed my life for the better but it didn’t happen they said I wasn’t there long enough 4 months I needed to be there around 30 days!) and I didn’t complete something that it did! I had obtained my Forklift certificate and took a test it was like a SAT And I think I did very well I already had my GED and in the test I scored a “14!!” on my reading Comprehension that’s equivalent to 2 years of college! But treated me like I was stupid and needed to go back to school as if I had no degree at all! I explained to them the only reason I got my GED was because my parents moved a lot and I was held back a year so I took the GED while in High School to graduate on time! (The state I was in offered me this as a option to staying another year) (I’m so stupid I managed to score a network tech job without a degree? Hmmm) the person in charge of setting me of with the CDL training refused to honor the agreement they had with people looking to better themselves! I suspected it was due to prejudice and his own racism! I hope this place has Changed I walked out it was a waste of my time and hitchhiked back north to find help somewhere else! Also after reading other reviews I don’t know if anything has changed I think I was giving a false promise because not many people are serious about using the program they offered me to get my CDL and they always find a way to reject a person! Why I don’t know? Maybe it’s because the funding goes to a outside program (someone’s wallet) instead of BOC? This is a Buisness just like any shelter! Religious or Not! The Salvation Army is another entity that’s not 100% honest about how the donations are used but that’s another story! After being in BOC I lost a lot of Faith in these services there are very few that truly stand behind there purpose! As they tell the supporters!

The issue that Im having here would be the case worker. Ive asked the GSA about changing my case worker the GSA department told me to write a grievance. I was also told after being here for 3 weeks that I cant go anywhere for 2 weeks and if I were to go anywhere to write a C.A.R. Now that I have been here for 3 weeks I have attend my classes taken my educational tests put in the weekly required 4 hours for the education depart like your suppose. The case managers request that all the residents to place the C.A.R in their personal mail box that they check in the morning within 48 hrs, that has been done within that time and I still have not received my referral to leave the BROWARD OUT REACH HOLLYWOOD location. The meals that are provided to the children and families are undercooked or spoiled. One incident from the food being undercooked has caused an resident Ms.Linda to go to the hospital and she still has not returned, due to surgery. We are being treated with no respect. Talked to as if we have no rights. Things need to addressed Asap.

Ok so I havent been here but I have been in shelters before. One if you ever go to a shelter yes they take Ur food stamps because u have food there and have no place to store ur own, also they allow u to spend $10 a month on it so u dont lose your benifits and when you come out and on ur own u have all the foodstamps stored up Ive left with $1000 in stamps before. Also as of the jail thing and being treated like kids. All shelters have a time for bed this insures that everyone gets pleanty of sleep the staff can switch over shifts and make sure everyone is accountable for and that your able to get up and ready to go first thing in the morning to do ur daily chores. I do not agree that any one should be forced to have anything to do with any religion its just wrong, I am Christian but I would not force my belifes Id ask if people would like to join and educate but not force belifes on any one thats just respect for others as well as their right not to believe in what I do to have freedom to believe and what ever they want to beilive in. The locker thing idk if true or not but all peoples iteams should be respected and lockers should have cameras on them at all times. As of for phones, unless at work you do not need a phone u can write all ur important contacts down and use the phone during designated calling times if its important they will allow u to make calls for appointments or job interviews they like that but most phones recorded or take pictures so to insure everyones safty and privacy they take them you never know who doesnt want to be found cause of domestics or past gang stuff or escaping from bad situations of any kind. With felons in and out just cause some one has a recorded does not mean they do not deserve help especially if they are willing to help themselves in the process and truly want to change their lives around the ones who leave or get kicked out then they more then likely brought it apone themselves, but hey leaves a bed for some one else. Beds most are first come first serve unless there is a reason such as pregnancy elderly or other to do so. Keeping men from women, women from men is a must they dont want baby making or ppl hooking up getting STDs when Ur already in a rough situation. The staff should not redicule anyone for misfortunes it is wrong and unprofecinal but again idk how staff is so I cant say much on that.
