Taken great care of our cat who had to get his leg amputated due to multiple fractures. We have visited multiple times and although wait times have been pretty long on a few occasions (is expected when visiting any ER vet), they have been very attentive and kind throughout this stressful process, they even remember him when we bring him back for visits! There is a tap house and coffee shop in the same parking lot which is super nice to have access to while waiting. I would highly recommend this vet over others in the Portland area.

It’s definitely a hit or miss with whomever Doctor you get and the type of information … Some are super informative and semi empathetic others like the one I had initially and now again this evening was cold and a tad sarcastic… Not at all the bed side manner I would appreciate right before trying to get some rest due to worries about my puppy. But she made sure to tell me a few times that hopefully she won’t be calling me in the middle of the night with bad news .I am thankful for the 24 hour Emergency Vet services. With Covid things are more difficult to not be able to see your pet. And to solely rely on various techs and vets with different levels of manners, it’s a degree of ups and downs along with the sickness of my pet that makes this time even more stressful and sad.

Do Not sign anything under duress!!! After being up for 48 hours with a puppy having seizures and then taking her to ER sitting there in tears in and off phone with different people telling them how I just want the best for her. I was given the option to sign some papers to turn her over to a pet rescue. I was so distraught. They told me she would need to spend the night in er for observation. It could be a liver shunt (which is survivable with surgery and special diet for life) or water on the brain which is not. Blood tests would tell. I was told they would hold the paperwork until the blood work came back as I was unsure what to do. I was so confused. When I called the next morning they told me I had surrendered her to the rescue!!!! I Didnt!!!!

I cannot say enough good things about the staff and care at this emergency hospital. Everyone is short staffed right now and wait times are through the roof, but they gave you proper expectations from the beginning and followed through with them the entire time.I took my six year old Corgi in with a concern at around 9PM on a Sunday evening, after about an hour wait a vet tech came out and did a quick exam on my dog. Since she wasn’t in immediate danger it was a 10 hour wait, we waited at home and received a call when the doctor was ready to see us. They were upfront about the prices for the tests they were going to run and they quickly found the issue with Pepper: a bladder full of stones. They were compassionate and understanding of all my questions and provided me with a few different options. We opted for immediate surgery so an obstruction wouldn’t form. They gave me an estimate and came in a few hundred below the original quote. They took good care of my pup and provided me with excellent at home instructions to care for her post-op. I really hope I never have to go to an emergency vet again, but if I do it will be here.

My family is so thankful we found you when our 5yo GSP, Bella, needed urgent medical attention. I was able to reach a receptionist without being put on hold or going through an automated phone tree, when we arrived she was assessed by a vet tech within 10 minutes of arrival, we received a phone update by the vet within 30 minutes and there was a well explained treatment plan for our doghter. Bella is doing fantastic — we can’t thank you enough!

Everyone here is so nice and they were able to help me before my paint chip eating pup got any sicker. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick the turnaround was given how busy they were. With COVID, I have reasonable expectations of vet visits, ESPECIALLY at the ER. Every veterinary clinic is struggling and doing their best to help as many pets as possible. When you visit an animal ER, please be nice to the staff and understand that if your pet is not critical, you wont be seen quickly unless you have some magical timing like I did. No matter how long I would have waited, I would have been patient, kind and grateful.

As the closest ED to us for cats, we called ahead to make an appointment for an emergency visit and let them know we were coming in. We were turned away over the phone by this and numerous other hospitals in the area. We finally went to DoveLewis in Portland and were told that if we had waited any longer our cat would’ve gone into kidney failure. I’m not sure how a veterinary emergency clinic can claim to handle emergencies while turning away potentially life-threatening cases.

I’ve had two animals go to this location with no issues, aside from them asking us to call but rarely answering the phone—but just called to get a very dismissive rude girl who answered the phone. I’d been calling all day to finally get ahold of someone for her to be dismissive and rude on the phone. I get you all are busy, but it doesn’t mean to be rude to those asking for help for their loved ones. My suggestion, do something about her, bc I it was rude enough for me to write a review. Won’t be going back. Thanks!

A big THANK YOU to the staff! My cat was a stable patient so we had to wait for a long while before being seen on what was an extremely busy Friday night.During that wait, I saw so many pets come and go-many rushed in cradled in arms and blankets or boxes even. One family brought in their old Patriarch Dog who was heading for the Rainbow Bridge. Their hearts were broken but they were also so grateful to the attention and care that was given to them and their beloved pet family member-I know because I talked with them. Many of those same pets rushed in returned home with their owners and just a few had to stay the night for further care and observation. What I witnessed over that time was a relentless care, compassion and even an upbeat tempo by the front desk staff, the doctors and technicians who took personal time and attention out for every animal/pet owner coming to them and (in most cases) going home with their proud pet parents. This is a pet Trauma Center for the lack of a better term and for folks like me, who have just moved here and dont have a regular Vet (and cant get one for at least a month) and have to rely upon these specialty locations to help care for our animals when we deem them in distress (even if its not an emergency) it is something to behold and is quite humbling actually-at least it was for me. Im truly grateful.Thank you for the good work you do and will continue to do!

I literally cannot say enough about how wonderful this place is. We had an extremely tough situation with our cat, Kitty. They made it SO MUCH easier. Their communication, bedside manner, safety, and competence went above and beyond expectations. I was encouraged to call any time I wanted an update. Every single person we interacted with was kind, appropriate, and clearly an animal lover. When the shifts changed, they stayed knowledgeable about the situation and just as communicative. When we finally needed to put Kitty down, they made sure we were as comfortable as possible. Even though they were busy, they made time for us, listened, and got everything right. Wonderful, wonderful place! (Cat tax included)

Called ahead because we had a cat who had been neutered that day and had opened his wound. Wanted to just have him checked for safety reasons. Was told to come in. We show up and call. No one answers after it rang more than 10 times. Hung up and called back. It rang and rang, finally the call is answered and were asked if we filled out paperwork. What paperwork? We just arrived and no one called. They said they emailed it. Cool, would have been nice if someone had even mentioned it was being sent. They come outside to get the cat and say nothing more about the paperwork. They just say theyll call when hes done.An hour and a half later a tech comes out and asks if we were able to do the paperwork. Really? Get yourselves together people! We ask for an update and she knows nothing. We start filling out the forms and then get a call from a different tech asking if we want to leave the cat inside while we wait or if wef rather he wait in the car until the vet can see him. We ask what she means....and if nothing has been done, how long is the wait. She says its 4 to 5 hours and we should have been told that when we arrived. So now not only have we sat there for 1.5 hours with no forms but NO ONE told us anything about a wait time or bothered with any update prior to this. We said to just forget it since the cat was resting comfortably at that point, wed just wait to see our own vet. The tech on the phone got a bit snotty and said due to the open wound, he should be seen. We explained were aware of the wound which is due to being neutered earlier in the day. She brings the cat out and then proceeds to say that the vet was just about to look at him. So why did you call and say it would be 4 to 5 hours before he could be seen and ask if we wanted him to just wait in the car with us? It just seems like theres no organization at this place. I could understand being busy (which there werent that many people waiting)....but if you have protocols in place regarding how to handle paperwork, patients, etc, then why did multiple staff members screw up and not tell us any info? And we werent the only people being left in the dark because others were outside waiting for animals who also hadnt been told about wait times or had any updates and were getting upset. I hope we never need an emergency appointment again and if we do, Ill be looking elsewhere.

My 8 year old Pit Bull was lethargic for less than 12 hours. Her stomach was getting bloated. My vets office said I would need to take her to Cascade Referral because the bloating was not good. At Cascade, they took x-rays and told me to take her to Tanasbourne Veterinary immediately for surgery. They gave me the worst case scenario and I was devastated. Cora and I headed to Hillsboro we arrived at 6:30 pm. They were waiting for us. Her surgery was at midnight and the doctor called me afterward. I was impressed. Cora had to have her spleen removed. She was doing well after the surgery. I picked Cora up the next afternoon and she was her old self within 24 hours. The cost was $2700. Coras life was worth every penny of it. The staff at Tanasbourne never missed a beat. They were perfect. I would go there again without hesitation. And I have has two animals that did not have a good emergency room visit. I was grateful.

Brought my dog in after she cut her back leg open. It wasnt that serious, and it was a Friday morning, so I knew wed be waiting awhile. The staff was friendly and let me know that it would be a few hours, as they see pets in the order they arrive UNLESS a serious case comes in, which is as it should be. Eventually my dog was seen, and the vet called me pretty quickly with her recommendation and a plan. It felt like a fair price for the exam, sedation, stitches, a cone, antibiotics, and painkillers, and they even trimmed Fridas nails while she was sedated. Yes, it took all day, but as I couldnt even get an appointment with my normal vet, and they did such a good job with Frida, I think it was worth it!

This review is our story, pros, and cons. Our story:My 9 year old German shepherd male had a sudden onset of vomiting, drinking huge amounts of water, and purging again, plus very dark urine. Called them at 4 pm and said their wait was 10-12 hours. I decided to stay at home with my boy until the morning. I called at 5 am and they said 3-6 hour wait. I packed everything up and left. Fortunately, we had a 2 hour wait. Because we sort of live in the boonies and my dogs dont really see other people, I was so hesitant to let them take him from me. They did a urinalysis and blood test which revealed high liver levels and bilirubin in his pee. We opted for imaging which revealed enlarged liver and pancreas. They gave us the option of a 24 hour IV fluid therapy or a bolus dose so he could go home, but his enzymes were so high they really wanted the full day. We agreed and they enforced that we can call at any time for updates. I called the next morning about an hour before the re-test time wed agreed on. They said to call one hour after the test was performed so we could discuss the results. I did, and my baby was responding well to the treatment. We are three days home and he continues to get better.Pros:The staff We encountered were kind to me and my pup. So I was hesitant to leave him for a full day, they really enforced it was the best option for his health. The staff members are all very busy at most hours of every day but theyre all trying their best to take care of everybody. There was a clear explanation of the test results that were out of normal and what each treatment purpose was.Cons:The clinic is busy at all hours. They have a lot of customers and have to treat those who need the most immediate treatment first. I respect this and completely understand it, but even though I know its necessary, its still very difficult to have to wait for them to get to my pup oh, I cannot blame this on the staff at all though.Occasionally, I will be on hold for up to 10 minutes when I call, this goes back to how busy they are. They apologize each time for the wait and I told them I was understanding, I believe this made our rapport much more professional.Price. Yes they were expensive, but none of my other normal vet would take our pup so soon. It is an emergency clinic and I truly believe that they were not meant to have as much overwhelming business as they do now because I dont think anybody was prepared for veterinary offices telling their clients that they couldnt see them that day due to cov-19.All in all, I truly recommend Tanasbourne Veterinary emergency. Attached photos are my babe 3 days home.

Ive had to come here with two different pets, each time the vets & staff have done an exceptional job. They are 40mins-1hour away from me, but it is worth the drive if your pet is stable. They are very busy and can have a long wait, but they do their best to take care of your pet & prioritize their emergencies (just like an ER for people). My 9 week old kitten had a very major surgery and the staff was very reassuring about the procedure. They are open 24/7 and encourage you to call to check in anytime, even after sending my baby home. Ive always paid slightly less than the quoted amount- they do have ways to help you pay not at all once too. Would highly recommend!

I cant speak for the whole organization but one woman answering the phones is absolutely awful. She was rude, dismissive, and even tried to lie to me. I had just spoken to someone else a moment before when my phone phone dropped the call so I knew what she was telling me wrong. I told her what she was saying wasnt correct. She responded by saying that if I didnt like what she was saying I could just leave and then literally just hung up on me. I brought my dog in on the afternoon of Friday, July 2 and then again very early Saturday morning July 3 when he went into hyperthermia. He is okay now after a weekend stay. This was 1 month ago. They still have not submitted the insurance claims, 2 total, 1 for each visit. I have had to send them the forms THREE times now and explain twice that he needs TWO sent in. 1 for Friday and 1 for Saturday. These people are impossible to get ahold of. You have to call repeatedly and let the phone ring and ring and ring. Many times, having to just hang up the phone. Someone answers, gets the chart up on the screen and still doesnt seem to understand whats going on. I am so beyond frustrated. My Care Credit is maxed out and my other dog is now limping but I cant bring him in anywhere because these people have repeatedly dropped the ball! My care credit should have been reimbursed by now, but my insurance company doesnt even have the claims! I have emailed. I have called. I have done all I can do. You cant even drive there and go inside. Its curbside only. I have NEVER experienced such horrible customer service via an animal clinic in my life and having 3 fur babies, the oldest being 13 years old, Ive been to many. I called my vet and was told they were booked for the day and did not have any concern for my dog. I called Tanasborne Emergency Vet and they told me to get right in ,they would have a stretcher ready and cared for my situation immediately. We were told on the phone there was a specialist in at the vet until 7 pm for my little guy and we rushed there from Central OR to rudely be told “uh we do not have any specialists here for anything” and so I hesitantly decided my pet was in bad enough condition to just stay put and have them care for him. Within a short amount of time of him being taken back, the vet tech came out in front of a full waiting room and handed my dead pet to me and said “he has not heart beat, he’s passed away” it was the most heartless way to inform someone of their pet dying. My little guy was only 4 years old, it wasn’t like an older pet who we knew might not make it. He became very suddenly ill. Please second guess your decision of coming here if your animal is in any life threatening condition.

Firstly I’m going to say I’m extremely grateful that they were able to save my cats life, twice. They are knowledgeable and probably very good veterinarians. What gets to me was the passive aggressiveness and contempt towards us the second time we had to come in. The first time was so great everyone was kind and cut us a lot of slack, but my cat has the tendency to eat things he shouldn’t and it’s beyond simply picking things up off the ground, he was a kitten learning to jump up high where I couldn’t see. I was placing things up to get them away from him because he hadn’t been jumping yet. It does take one mistake to cause a world of harm sometimes. Unfortunately I had to learn this the very hard way. I take responsibility and we’re always so mindful of these dangers now. The way my partner and I were treated the second time only at this vet, not my local one (they were so kind and aware this was his/our second offense,) was so sickening. We were concerned for our cats life, spending everything we had to save him. We were treated as awful as I feel they were allowed to without it being overt. This is not the first time we’ve experienced this kind of condescending behavior either, with one cat who has a skin disorder we were given a lot of attitude about her having fleas. There was no offer of receiving flea medication that was effective. They didn’t even give us any advice for her skin condition, nothing to apply. No information at all. It has put me off entirely to going to the vet when I’ve gotten better information on the internet!

I had decided to only wait 8 hrs total...but, no one answered the phones for an hour...so we HAD to stay another hr... Too, they kept stringing me along..when I would call, they would tell me we were 3rd in line, first in line, 2nd in line etc.. To me it was very clear they were way understaffed and having extreme problems organizing the appts. that came in! Many (about 30 of them) were taken in (or picked up) before my dog was! He only needed about a 10 minute appt...they already knew this because I had let them know at the first, he appeared to have kennel cough. He could have been seen anytime between other patients with more dire injuries/illnesses.Not a good first impression! Too, I am very disappointed as I have heard very good things about them, from a lot of previous patients owners. Finally, 9 1/2 hrs later, a vet tech came to take Ruger back! I was in shock (we were preparing to leave..).I wasnt sure if the lack of attention was due to them believing he was probably contagious, and they didnt want that there, and were hoping we would go away? Or, they were trying to discourage people like myself (none of the local vets could see him for a week) that didnt have real emergencies from going there. ..Well, they partially got their wish. I will be avoiding that clinic like the plague! I will only consider taking one of my pets there, if they are close to dying. Then that is questionable...they might make us wait 4 hrs. for that!

There is no rhyme or reason to how they are taking clients during these massive wait times. People with non-emergencies are, clearly, going ahead of other people. Negative parvo tests STILL get to go in ahead of bloody facial discharge. Weve waited almost eight (8) hours on a 4-6 hour window given at check in. Covid cannot continue being an excuse for poor service.

We are from St. Louis. Took our dog Roberta here had bone lodged surgery and it was like the receptionist didn’t seem like they really cared about hospitality. They first told us $250 to start with Xrays then they ended up randomly tagging on a extra 200 for what I don’t know without our consent! It seemed like they kept forgetting about Roberta we literally gave the receptionist our number two times and was told they would update us they kept claiming we never gave them our number even when we sent it over on email & paper like twice to them in front of them!!! They told us we would get updated when they would feed her around 6 and call us never did and call us around 9 never did! Every time we called they didn’t answer!! The receptionist didn’t seem like they knew anything or wouldn’t tell us anything about pricing Or how she was no communication skills... The bald guy from Chicago with gauges was the only guy that seemed like he cared and helped us correctly in the end. So props to him. We paid to be taken care of not confused! They kept trying to keep her for longer and longer when we told them we won’t have enough money to pay for that long of housing here after so long. They didn’t understand. We had to sit in their parking lot for over 30 hours just waiting for them to let her go. Hoping they don’t up charge us. They have bad customer service someone was yelling at the vet techs because they wouldn’t help their dog we heard the dog yelping. And they wouldn’t help the pup after being ran over. The receptionist were down to take our money so quick but after that we didn’t get anything they told us they would do. I’m putting my dogs life in your hands and what your just gonna forget about her. Kinda greedy to only care about their time and money. We asked if they could check on her barley a response on that. So I don’t recommend coming here. They might try and keep your dog or deny you and not tell you correct pricing till after they do something. When we are the ones paying so much money for her barley have gas money to get back home. They literally gave someone’s dog back super injured!! It was traumatic to see that and hear how upset the other lady was. I feel bad for her and their pup. The worst customer service at a vet ever ever (front desk wise) . We felt really ignored and forgot about.

This team is incredible. My 5 month old Golden retriever puppy was admitted for emergency surgery and Dr. Ashley Crowley and the rest of the team saved his life.( it was a high risk surgery with lots of complications) Every single staff member I came into contact with was extremely kind and professional. They took the time to thoroughly explain all the procedures and post-op care. They are so busy but they took the time to let us visit him in recovery. They kept us informed when the surgery started and called us with updates on how the surgery went right after. It is absolutely terrifying seeing your baby in pain but the staff here are very compassionate and supportive. You can really tell they are passionate about what they do. Couldn’t recommend this team enough. Thank you all.

My indoor cat managed to break his arm, and I initially took him to Dove Lewis, which was a long drawn-out process to get x-rays and determine he needed surgery. Thankfully, their vet was able to coordinate with Dr. Thomas at Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency, who was able to get him in for surgery the next day. Everything was quick, the staff seemed to take great care of my cat, and the communication was great. He’s been home a few days and doing great, and follow up visits have been quick and painless. Hopefully he continues to heal and can get his cast off and return to his usual craziness.

I called them so see if they would remove a few ticks from dog because I am squeamy and didnt want to make a mistake and leave the head in that could potentially cause infection. They refused to do it for me and when I asked if they could recommend somewhere that would they told me no vets do that. Excuse me what? Would never recommend to anybody. They clearly dont value their jobs as animal helpers and healers because yes its a simple task but its just that? Why wouldnt you help someone who wants to make sure its done right and their pet remains healthy? Horrible. Not to mention the tick had been there for longer than it should so I wanted to make sure my dog doesnt have Lyme disease. But thank you for turning us away and saving our money.

BEST emergency vet in PDX metro. I hope my cat never needs emergency services again, but if he does I will not go anywhere else. Definitely worth it to drive out to Hillsboro even if you live on the east side. My cat was in and out at Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency within 24 hours after he swallowed a sewing needle. The doctors and vet techs took such amazing care of him. They were very transparent about any and all potential costs up front. Before doing anything, they gave me a price range. I felt they were very honest, and when it came time to pay the bill there were no surprises. A payment plan was offered as well in case I couldnt pay up front. Thankfully, I didnt need it this time, but it was good to know that the option is there. With regards to communication, I was encouraged to call every time I wanted an update on his condition and even though they are crazy busy, they reassured me I could call back any time and it would not be a bother. The doctor made time to make sure I knew what was going on and answer questions every time I called. Everyone was so kind and caring and I cant imagine how difficult it is dealing with stressed out pet parents all the time. These hard-working people do not get enough appreciation for what they do! Anyway, this is all to say that I am very satisfied with this clinic and I highly recommend it for anyone that finds their beloved pet in need of emergency care.

My regular Banfield office can often take a week or longer to get in and for acute situations (both were infections) I need quick, responsive care and to start antibiotics ASAP.Both situations my pet was treated quickly and the team was very thoughtful and precise. Also, for an emergency vet, this location has great value for the service.Luckily both situations for my pet did not escalate to a worse stage had I waited to see my regular vet up to a week later.I’m so grateful for this vet office and the urgent services they have provided to keep my pet healthy and pain free.

If you can go elsewhere, you should. I thought it was expensive at the time, turns out they charged me 3x the standard rate for antibiotics and lied about it being flavored (no wonder he hated them!) - not that I was given a choice of meds anyway. Pros - they are open on Sundays and they did adequately treat the condition. But besides the expense, covid restrictions meant no entering the bldg so I had to stay at my car for 4 hours in a snowstorm with no nearby shops open and no place to even use the bathroom (after driving 2 hours to get there). They kept saying it wont be long, so I couldnt leave. Overall, I felt taken advantage of and poorly treated because it was a Sunday emergency and nowhere else was open.

On Memorial Day 2021 my Springer found poison, Zinc Phosphide. I live in Saint Helens and my vet was closed, all locations in the area were closed and running out of time I rushed Sitka to this clinic. Shortly after taking her in I was told to wait and the Doctor would call me. Also I was told to fill out some detailed paper work which I did. The doctor called me and asked me the same questions that I answered on the paper work that I filled out with no exclamation why she was doing so. She told me what she wanted to do and it was disgustingly obvious she was more concerned about the money she would get then my dogs health. I told her that I only had a couple hundred dollars and that I totally understood, they needed to be paid and that I would, please do what you can to save my babys life. She told me to wait, that she would think about it, what she could do for a couple hundred dollars, it was so unprofessional, it was pathetic. What they did was then write up 2-3 thousand dollars worth of charges and put it in front of my face and I said I cant pay that amount right now, arent you required to save a dogs life? She looked at me and said a human doctor is required to save a human, we are not required to save an animal, I about dropped to the ground. If you have lots of money then this may or may not be a good place to bring your animal, Im not sure how good they are. What I do know is that several of them are in the wrong business, money is all they really care about. I would recommend if your vet is closed and you have an emergency go to Dove in Portland, at least they put the animal as top priority. My Sitka was given a 1-5 chance to live, and after four nights and five days in the hospital at Midway Vet Clinic, she survived. Not once did they mention the cost until I brought her home and as I promised Tanasbourne I gave them 1000 dollars and they gave me three months to pay the balance, because they care about the fur baby, not the all mighty dollar. I will never ever bring any pet to this location again, they should be ashamed of them selves especially the vet that treated my dog, if you want to call it treating her. They sent me away crying like a baby.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a vet and if I could give them negative stars it would be -100!My husband waited 7 hours (I waited 3 of them after a full day of work) just to be told we would need to wait longer because they didnt deem our dog critical enough (even though another dog came in after we had been there almost 7 hours with similar symptoms and got seen within 15 minutes). At that point we just left. They finally called us after what would have been 8 hours of waiting. (FYI-They dont allow you to leave and come back so you are stuck there in their parking lot or they will give your spot away!)Staff was very unprofessional and didnt even come out to check on our dog. Just let us sit outside for 7 hours and told us to wait in our truck instead of in the waiting area! We had to check in every 1-2 hours to see how much longer the wait was. At hour 3.5, we were 1st on the waiting list but had to watch 15-20 other pets go in before us who didnt seem at all like they were life-threatening (one was just getting stiches on his paw and came back for a second appointment an hour later). One dog got seen right away in the parking lot and their only problem was that they were bloated from eating too much food while our dog had trouble breathing, had been throwing up blood a few days prior, hadnt eaten her food in several days, and had a really bad cough and nasal discharge. Guess we werent a high enough cash ticket for them to prioritize our dog!!!Heed the 1-star reviews!!!!! They are spot on!!!!! Dont come here unless your dog is currently throwing up blood, gushing blood, or ate too much food!!!! They wont see you unless they are and they will charge you out the a$$ for it!! We took our small dog here this week after it was attacked by a larger dog. While we are grateful they helped him and got him sutured up.We were dissatisfied with the time it took them and the clinics lack of communication between the reception and the back. We were initially told he would be ready at 3 pm after he was brought in mid morning, but that was pushed back to 545. We were only told that after calling at 5 to check again after worrying he was there for so long without water and were initially told it would be another 1.5-2 hours for him to be seen before someone from the back alerted reception that they had actually finished his procedure. Then after arriving at 545 he wasnt brought out and released until 630pm.In addition to this another injury that required sutures on the opposite side of his head was not even found by the clinic and was found by us when we got him home and then verified and treated when we took him to our normal clinic for a wound checkup today. Which this clinic also initially said was too soon for a wound check, but had we not he would have had an additional untreated and undocumented injury. We understand this clinic has a lot of patients and emergencies, and that our dog had a decent bit of fur covering the other injury, but we still feel a more thorough check should have been performed following a serious attack by a larger dog.

I called back to update the ER as requested, but nobody answered for a while so I waited a bit then tried again. They tell me it’s a 5-6 hr wait I said yeah, from the time I called right? They said oh no the person you talked to said she asked if you were here and you said no (I had said I was there). I was parked there waiting for an hour and a half to be told that they thought I wasn’t there. I said ok, I didn’t say that because I was physically here, so do I have to start the full 6 hours from now because someone misheard me? They said sorry, yeah. I said ok that’s frustrating, no thanks bye. Then they called back and said I hung up on them. I said no, I told you I don’t want it anymore. Then she said ok I need to know if you still want your puppy to be seen. And I said no again. I don’t want to go there anymore. Then she said oh sorry hope you find someone to look at her. I said yeah, me too? I don’t understand why they didn’t put me on the list like I called and asked for the first time. I even said ok I’ll call heart and soul, but in the meantime I’m on the list right? Apparently I was on a “note” but not added to whatever queue they have. Like a sticky note? If I could go below one star, I would. For the past couple of months, I’ve had to take Jake, my dog, for emergency care for seizures. In that time, our experience has been abysmal. In one event after calling to notifying that we were on our way, Jake was actively seizing in my truck, I was on the phone with them and no one came out to get him even as I explained he was having another seizure. I had to go in and ask for help but was met with attitude instead of concern. Their lack of concern and urgency is unacceptable.During another seizure event, I had to leave Jake there so that they could monitor him. I was told I would be called and provided updates. For 16 hours, not once did they call me or leave me any sort of notice on how he was doing. I had to call them only to be put on long holds or was told someone would call me back. Their communication not only with me, but with their own employees seems nonexistent. I spoke with 5 different employees and each one provided different updates. No one was on the same page.Jake passed away. Tanasbourne Emergency Vet took care of handling his remains. He was to be cremated and his collar was to be retuned when we picked up his ashes. We were told that in 2 weeks we should receive a call to come get him. So 3 weeks later we did not hear back from them, I called and was told me that they left me a voicemail to come get him. I never received the call or a voicemail. When I picked up his urn I was told that they had lost his collar, and that there was a chance that it was disposed.Throughout Jake’s struggle with his illness we’ve had to deal with the Emergency Vet and we have been miserable in doing so. If there was another emergency vet anywhere closer, we would have changed hospitals. I question if we even have Jake’s remains due to their incompetence. We did complain to the manager. She was kind and offer a full refund of the cremation services but that doesn’t make it right.I was giving them the benefit of the doubt due to COVID, but the manager told that they have new staff. With that in mind, I question their professionalism rather than under staffed.

We got a call the next morning during the shift change and the new vet on duty wanted to firm up our time line on medications. She called and explained no changes to his eating or drinking. She also explained that he would need to be tubed if we cannot get him to eat by midnight. She offered for us to stop in and see if we could get him to eat. We stopped in and were able to get him to eat but they suggested he stay another night for rehydration and possible tubing at midnight. We didnt get a call this morning, Tuesday so my fiancé followed up at around 6am. When he called they said he was doing great. He was in great spirits and we could come get him to take him home. We showed up to take him home and the staff was a little lost. I guess the AM vet didnt make note that we were going to pick up. Our 16 year old Whippet, Jack was attacked by another dog. The deep, gaping laceration was a horrific 4”-5” across his thin neck. Our emergency began late on a Saturday night and went into the next day. The first evening Dr. Houser did an exam and gave Jack a pain med injection and his neck was wrapped to keep the laceration in place. He was watched, warm, and kept comfortable. This is an emergency vet hospital and level of urgency must be determined in order to treat the most dire first. We know that Jack was well cared for overnight. The next day Dr. Schwinn listened carefully and went over Jack’s health and medical history and considered every nuance of his potential risk for anesthetic and surgery and how she would proceed. Because of Jack’s advanced age and some health issues, we were so scared he wouldn’t survive. We know that Dr. Schwinn employed the proper type of anesthesia due to seizures and opted not to use a certain anti inflammatory with concern for Jack’s kidneys. She double sutured; the top derma layer as well as the layer underneath. We could not have found a better veterinarian to care for Jack and we are so grateful! When we picked Jack up his wound was clean and tidy with beautiful “X” stitches. In addition to Dr. Schwinn, the entire staff was sweet, professional, compassionate, and patient, and kept us all as well informed as possible. Thank you so much for saving Jack’s life! The price for all of this, this wonderful gift was somehow less than expected and as thoughtful as Dr. Schwinn herself. In closing I have to mention that this is my second experience with Tanasbourne Emergency Vet practice. Several years ago my Italian Greyhound’s life was saved here when she was bleeding everywhere from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. She is a beautiful, healthy 14 year old thanks to the amazing quality care she received that day. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Our chicken was seen by Dr. Aaron Sears, and he was very kind and compassionate when explaining the situation to us. The staff are all competent, and while the wait time is a few hours due to the COVID situation, they are all doing the best they can in terms of saving as many lives as possible. Highly recommend for any pet emergencies.

The worst experience I have ever had! Went over my dogs symptoms and also let them know we saw our Vet days before but her systems seemed to have gotten worse over night. Called my Vet and they said to head over to Emergency ASAP. I called this Tanasbourne “Emergency” they agreed for me to bring her in ASAP....I got there at 930am and they “reviewed” my dog for 1 min at a red tent and said it will be a few moments before we can see her. At 130pm I gave up and took my dog back to my Vet (who said they would see her again) the they told me she needs to stay overnight with a drip to help ASAP. The Vet then referred the Pet Emergency in Tualatin and once there - they took her in immediately in for help at 330. At that same time (330) Tanasourne called me to have me bring my dog back up to the red tent. They had no idea I left hours ago!!!

Don’t take your pet to this hospital! They are negligent! And now my sweet kitten is dead!I took my 9 month old kitten to Tanasbourne Emergency at my veterinarian’s urging for a possible urinary blockage and I was not given sufficient information about his illness to understand his treatment options or what symptoms to be watching out for. They told me he had FLUTD not a blockage, but did not explain what was needed to prevent a blockage from occurring. They did not explain the condition he should be in after discharge. Or what to do if he continued to refuse food or water (he had not eaten for two days) When I got home my cat could not walk properly and soon was unable to move his legs, I have never given him opioids and the label said it could cause sedation.I found him dead in his crate the next day. I called and spoke to Dr Schwindt (avoid her!!) she asked me what she could do for me and I said I wanted a refund since the care I paid for was appallingly insufficient.Later I spoke with two different managers who called to get more information and I was told they would change their care policies because of what I experienced. The owner of Tanasbourne Emergency refused to refund me I am told because the three medications I was prescribed for my cat were the proper protocol. However, I was not informed verbally or in my paperwork what the medications were for, or what was normal and abnormal for a kitten on pain medicine with FLUTD. It is my firm belief that my cat would still be alive if I had received the care that I paid for and that the least they can do is to refund me.

We deeply appreciated Dr. Aaron Sears and his staff in their care of our cat, Fred Rogers. He was calm, empathetic, and explained the situation clearly and in detail. It made a very difficult situation a little easier, and was one of the best handlings of an emergency situation I have been in.

I cant thank these vets, techs, aides, and administrators enough! our 8 week old pug puppy got parvo, and they nursed him for almost four whole days. He is finally home with us and continuing his recovery. I cannot stress enough, they saved his life and they worked with our budget--and understood about our realistic limitations and kept it in mind the whole time. They were communicative and let us call regularly for check-ins with the doctor, and they were so compassionate with us and with Comet. These folks deal with some intense situations on an hourly basis, it seems, and they do so with poise and grace and skill and Im so grateful for them!!

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!I paid almost over a thousand dollars for my overnight visit with my cat. They were unable to identify the cause of him not eating or drinking in that 24 hours. Took him to my daytime vet, and they found painful gingivitis on his back left gums within 10 minutes. This veterinary office will do nothing more than treat your pet. They will not do a good job of finding the actual issue. It is also VERY VERY OVERPRICED. How can you not identify a simple issue when charging me that much?

Nothing says “essential” like not allowing you to be in the room as the vet sees your pet. Nothing says “professional” like waiting 3 hours to be seen just for them to bring your animal back in 5 minutes because they are too cowardly to work with the animal who they deem as overly aggressive. She probably wouldn’t have been so aggressive if she had familiar faces there to ensure her that everything would be okay! Can’t believe I paid almost 100 dollars just to sit in the car and wait! Total scam!
