Dan set a bar so high that we are now expecting other trades to do the same. We had 8 inch plank with a sand and finish that was out of the realm of other installers. No one would even consider the project unless it was engineered wood or reduced to 5 inch engineered. Thank you, our home feels like it is our home and one of a kind.

What can I say? Dans professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to his craft is unparalleled. I recommend him highly! There are just so many things to say about Dans approach and care compared to the other contractor we were considering:- Dan answered all of our questions pleasantly and happily, assuring us along the way that he wanted us to be confident that we were getting a quality installation.- Dan went out of his way to contact the distributor of our flooring product (wed ordered a high-quality engineered wood through our designer) to ensure that he installed it in such a way that wouldnt void our warranty. The other contractor didnt bother and wouldve voided the warranty if wed unwittingly gone with them.- He couldve cut corners on the installation and just given us a floating floor, but he opted to glue/nail the flooring to give us a more solid installation.- We had a room with very tricky walls, and Dan and his team took extra care to ensure that the flooring went in with a good alignment so as not to look crooked. Any contractor looking to simply get in and out with their money would not have taken the time to consider the best options. And finally, all of this happened while my wife and I were out of the country. It was such a relief to be able to trust someone with a big project like flooring installation, but Dans communication and competence at every step along the way gave us the peace of mind we needed to know that it would be done well.Go with Dan, you wont be sorry!

Five and a half months into a 3 week project with Colorado Custom Floors (CCF) we finally have our house back! After a complete debacle with a stair railing that did not meet industry standards or building code, we ultimately had to terminate our contract with CCF and hire other contractors to complete the work. In addition we found out later that they did not use either of the floor coating products (Arboritec or Loma) that were called out in our contract but rather used a less expensive lower quality product. He admittedly has not used these products for years. This created a situation where we were forced to move all of our furniture out of the house for a second time and stay in a hotel so the floors could be recoated with the correct product. Bottom line, If you are considering CCF for a flooring project be wary. Dan is a smooth talker but will lie and cut corners every chance that he gets. If you are considering CCF for a stair/rail project DON’T! They are not qualified or competent to do this work.

*UPDATED TO ADD* If you have worked with CCF in the past 2+ years, you may want to double check the material brands they sold you vs what actually got installed. We were contracted and paid for a very high end, very hard finish for our floor - either Arboritec or Loma brand. Dan installed a much cheaper and lower quality brand that he buys by the pallet. Make sure you are getting what you paid for!! Especially if hes paid you for a good review ;)Working with CCF was one of the biggest mistakes weve ever made as a homeowner. We eventually had to terminate our contract after repeated verbal agreements with the owner to adjust the contract, the final payment, and come out to do their repair work they had left behind. Many times after he had verbally agreed to do something, he would disappear for days and weeks at a time with no contact. We hired CCF to refinish some wood floors, remove carpet and install new wood floors, replace our carpeted stairs with wood, and replace our railing, posts and ballusters. According to their schedule this work was to be completed in 3 weeks. Once they started at our house, they did most of the floor work and the step work within those 3 weeks - except they skipped the wood filler on the entire floor as they were contracted to do and they did no QA/QC. This left us with a number of repairs including missing vent baffles, 3 floor vents out of square, 6 vents that are not flush with the floor (higher than the floor!), numerous nail holes unfilled, and many areas where the finish on the floor is bad/spotted/uneven.During that time they also did a number of things we did not appreciate; lied to us repeatedly, unplugged our sprinklers while we were on vacation causing us to lose many flowers/plants and some patches of grass, cut materials repeatedly in our garage even after promising not to - resulting in us having to deep clean all of our furniture that we had stored in the garage so they could do the floors, and they made little effort to protect the other parts of our home resulting in ridiculous amounts of repainting and cleaning we had to do on our walls and other areas. Now about the rails/posts/ballusters. CCF claimed they could not get iron ballusters and their suppliers were lying to them about the ballusters coming in. They claimed they were getting the run-around about the posts and the rails too. My husband seemed to have no trouble ordering ballusters and we received them 4 days after we ordered them. Im not sure why CCF wasnt able to do this, especially being in the business. During week 4 or 5, they eventually received the posts. However the quality of the 4 posts was lacking (not stain grade though they were supposed to be), and they (the OWNER of CCF and one of his employees) installed all of them incorrectly - out of plumb, wrong location and too high. Then they (the OWNER of CCF and one of his employees) installed the rail. It is 40.5 inches above the top step, and 38.5 inches above the bottom step (yes, thats 2 inches difference)...while code states rails should be 34-38 above the steps - so they didnt even meet code. There were other issues with the installation as well that dont meet industry standards, though we wouldnt know that until we had a real rail company come out to look.Where we go from here? We have sought legal advice and are working with new contractors to repair and finish CCFs work. We will never recommend CCF for anything to anyone.Given the possibility that CCF will reply to this review with a bunch of excuses and stories, its important for anyone considering CCF to know that the FACTUAL (and highly documented) bottom line is this: the portion of the work that was completed was not to the specs contracted nor industry standards. CCF made a number of verbal agreements to rectify the situation and walked away from every one of them.
