All the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The mechanics are very thorough and I trust them to do only what is needed on my car. The owner is always giving back to the community. I feel very fortunate to have them nearby.

My first repair at Palumbos was superb. My second experience broke my trust. I asked for an estimate to install a hitch for a bike rack to my car. The mechanics inspected my car and the hitch and then initially quoted a reasonable fee of $260 for two hours. Then the woman at the cash register quoted a price of $350 after the mechanics told her two hours. When I brought my car in for the hitch installation, i received a phone call a couple of hours later from Palumbos stating they needed to charge me an additional $500 for brackets, effectively increasing the bike rack hitch installation price from $350 to $850. I emailed Etrailer customer service, the seller of the hitch I had purchased, and they told me the hitch attaches straight to my specific car model using the small parts that were provided in the box. Etrailer even emailed me video instructions for my car model and alas, no extra parts like $500 brackets were needed. I then took my car to UHaul in Guilford and UHaul installed the hitch for $162 versus the $850 Palumbos quoted, no $500 brackets needed. This experience has made me question whether I misplaced my trust.

Peter Palumbo is generous with his time and extremely helpful. I came in on a Saturday when he was closed looking for an assessment of a car I was considering buying. He took the time to help me with very little notice. I will definitely be back.

I had just begun swapping out the bumpers on my 2011 Tacoma when I realized my little socket wrench just wasnt cutting it. I bit the bullet and gave Palumbos a call hoping to borrow some extra torque so I could finish the job. They welcomed me in and loosened the six offending nuts so that I could drive home safely and finish up myself. Took all of three minutes from the friendly neighborhood shop -- thank you, Palumbos!

Ive been going to Palumbos for about two years, and have consistently been impressed with the service I have received. I have found them to be attentive, knowledgeable, courteous, and very fair. I appreciate that they have taken the time to explain things thoroughly to me and have gone on multiple test drives with me to properly diagnose issues I have experienced with my car. I also appreciate that they take pictures of the parts that need replacing, which helps me to better understand an issue. I completely trust their explanations and work. They are great! Replaced my headlights for free and just asked for a donation to the food bank. Even gave my toddler a little truck to take home! Recently had them do a diagnostic on a “weird noise” my car was making. They figured out the problem, did the leg work to find out it was covered under warranty, and set me up with a dealer to fix it for free. Above and beyond. Highly recommend.

I had my front brakes done here and I needed them to be fixed fast!! Palumbos got me right in their schedule and I was back on the road within a day. They called to verify the estimated amount for the job and once I gave the O.K. they had my car back to me that afternoon. I didn’t have to wait until the end of the day! My first time there. I made an appointment for a front end alignment.The people at Palumbos are very friendly, professional, and efficient.While I was waiting for the alignment to be done, many people were coming in to drop cars off. I could tell that most people were greeted by name, so there is a lot of repeat business. That says much about a company. The alignment was great. Car tracks straight as an arrow. No grease on steering wheel, or seats. Seat not moved, mirrors moved, or radio changed. Amazing! Great job to all! (No, I dont work there.)

They are available within days for an appointment, have shuttle service and loaner cars, and are the most friendly and helpful of people. Called Palumbos on a Thursday morning to see if I could get a tire mounted on a rim, tire rotation and alignment due to a bent rim thanks to a deep pothole. I dropped the car off at 11:30, got a friendly courtesy ride back to work, picked the car up at 4:30. No hassles, nice results, very pleasant people. The even gave me a cute little box of chocolates with my keys. Sweet, literally and figuratively.

The staff and mechanics are very courteous, understanding, knowledgeable, friendly, and are there for you. It is a hometown feel when you call it walk in. Everyone knows your name and greet you with a smile. Their prices are reasonable and do not push you to have more work done to add to the bill! Mr. Palumbo has been a fixture in our community for as long as I can remember and is always there to lend a helping hand to the groups in Guilford from carwashes to purple flags!

Having lived in this area for decades, I was surprised to find this gem set back off Boston Post Road (Guilford). They are the most honest shop I have ever taken my 3 vehicles for service. I have lived in town now for 13 years and have been lucky to not need much in the way of Automotive service. Recently I needed major work done on one vehicle. Palumbos Automotive went well beyond my expectations of a repair shop. I have now found my one and only go to place for basic services(oil and filter, all fluids and the like), Tires(Way better than Town Fair) and anything major. If you need service I highly recommend! From the service writer to the technicians, they are all top notch in my book.

I honestly cant say enough superlatives about Palumbos. They saved me at least $8000.00 vs the price I was quoted from the dealer, and did a much more thorough and effective job than the dealer was proposing (the dealership would have just replaced expensive parts - then reassessed, and although Id paid for an evaluation, the dealers evaluation was very superficial). The dealer actually stated that one of their mechanics would be willing to give me something for the car, though it wouldnt be much. Today, I have my car back, running wonderfully/normally, and it cost me less than 1/5th what the dealer was proposing.The price differential wasnt because Palumbos did a lesser job. Absolutely the contrary. They did a much more extensive evaluation and assessed the mechanical issues much more accurately and fully than the dealer.The bottom line is that Palumbos is an absolutely outstanding shop, can fix anything, and you can trust them. They have my very highest recommendation, and I will use them exclusively moving forward.

I felt really taken care of throughout the whole process. Maggie communicated with me daily about the status of my car (it needed several major issues corrected), and she worked with me to find the least expensive, best options for what I needed done. My car was done exactly when promised, and I am very happy with the work (runs great!). They even cleaned my wheels, even though it was a rainy day!

Palumbos DOES NOT offer emissions testing, though the very friendly woman at the desk did state emissions repairs are done on site. Please note Ive never had my cars serviced at Palumbos, and wanted to add this note, but had to select stars. As such, Ive added five stars as that appears to be the average, and I didnt want to disrupt that based on the many positive reviews.

I would like to thank everyone at Palumbos for their excellent service. I had a small issue with my Prius and they were quick to assist and even when they had a full day of work ahead of them (I saw the pile of keys), they took the time to fix my issue in a relatively short time, and for reasonable cost. I was so happy with them I am going to take my other vehicle in for a service appointment there instead of at the dealership. Thank you again, and see you guys soon.

Palumbos really cares about doing the best job and providing the best service. They went out of their way recently to diagnose and effect a repair to my car and make sure I had a way to leave on time for a planned trip after a last-minute problem surfaced. It was the first time Id put them to the test this way, but certainly not the first time Id witnessed their high professional quality and genuine interest in their customer. I even got a call the next day to make sure Id arrived safely! Sure, youll get a friendly smile and a functioning car back at a lot of places, but I doubt that anyone inspires greater trust than Palumbos between their honesty, skill and service orientation.

We were in need of two used pick up trucks for our business. We talked with Peter Palumbo what we were looking for and how much we were looking to spend. Lela was very helpful when I called for an estimate on a tune-up. She took my information and got me a good estimate and explained any possible exceptions before I even made the appointment. Once I got there they took care of my car and got it back to me quickly. When I picked the car up she told me that the car was in great shape and there wasnt anything else that looked like it needed attention.

My battery was dead this morning just when I was supposed to be going in for an oil change. I called and Peter was on his way immediately to jump the car. I was amazed at the quick help. I have used Palumbos many times over the years and find them always friendly, competent, and reasonably priced. Good location, too, for walking to the green and having a coffee or going to the library as your car is fixed.

Had an AC issue with my car and was able to drop it off without an appointment. They got to it in less than a day and a half. Job was completed and the cost seemed in line. They even delivered the car to my house since I could not get off work before they closed. Great place and great people.

Palumbos is a honest, fair and competitively priced. They have been working on my familys cars for many years now and have done everything from an oil change to building a new engine. They also provide options in their service at different price points and are honest in what needs to be done right now and what can wait. In my most recent visit I had new tires put on my car and the estimate was cheaper than the bill presented to me for payment. I mentioned this and it was verified in the computer and changed immediately. Great service, super friendly staff!

Ive always really disliked auto shops. But my experience at Palumbos was excellent. I went in saying that I needed new brake pads and rotors and left my car there, a few hours later I got a call saying that my brakes were in good shape and the reason I had thought I needed new brakes was something else entirely, which they promptly resolved. I couldnt believe it, an honest shop!!! They could have easily just charged me $600 and replaced the brakes and I would have been none the wiser. I am very impressed. These folks are absolutely worth it. If you want your vehicle to be taken care of, these are the people you want doing it. And to top it off, they are extremely pleasant to deal with, which is like the cherry.

These guys never fail us. My wifes Suburban died and needed a new alternator and battery. Matt and Lela were ready when we got there and had the Suburban back to our house the same day! You want the best? Go to Palumbos and youll have it.

After getting a laundry list of parts and labor from the BMW dealer I was sceptical I was being taken for a ride because I use a wheelchair and cant really check for myself. Well I took my car back and brought out here to find that the pump and check valve I was told to replace were plugged and didnt need any parts at all. Emissions passed and checked up and in a few hours. 5 stars!!!!! gotta appreciate honesty these days!

I cant rave enough about how helpful and friendly the staff is. I have had a couple of tire dilemmas in the past couple of months (thank god for their road hazard warranty, I highly recommend it!) and they have helped me right away. They look out for their customers and it definitely shows!

We have our cars regularly serviced at Palumbos. Simply stated, probably any garage can repair the problem with your car, but we keep going to Palumbos, because we are not only buying the repair, we are buying trust and a relationship - and we have been very pleased for all of these years in every respect.

Last winter my wife hung her car up on a snowbank trying to maneuver out of a tight spot in our neighborhood. I was up in Providence, so she called Palumbos. Peter Palumbo himself came out to free up the car - just the most recent time that weve experienced the above and beyond philosophy that his shop operates by. Great work, fair prices, community-minded - you will not be disappointed.

What a great place! Not only did they do a great job on what you would expect with an oil change, they went the extra mile. They serviced my daughters first used car purchase and took the time after the appointment to go over safety items. The receptionist took her outside and taught her how to check her oil!! She felt like the receptionist was more like an aunty! My daughter found her car care home!

Trust is vital when taking your car anywhere for service, because you dont really know whats wrong with it most times. Id been to places where I was pretty sure recommendations were made more to line their pockets than to treat me fairly. Not the case at Palumbos. I never feel like Im being squeezed, and I always walk out feeling good about the work thats been done. And thats not easy to say about most places. Took my Buick in and after looking at it for a little while they strongly advised me not to get it repaired,I appreciated the honesty but they charged me 140 dollars just to look at it (every mechanic I have been to before hand would do a diagnosis free of charge)even after I explained to them I had a very tight budget. Then when I went to pay the receptionist couldnt have acted more annoyed that I had to call somebody to help me pay and had to dictate to her the credit card info (because Im waiting to get on disability).Then I recently bought a Subaru to replace the Buick they advised I get rid of,the Subaru sustained a small crack in the gas tank before I got it,special patches are made for these types of situations,countless videos on how to even do it yourself (if you can get the car up on something) and patches for sale online. I called to get a quote on how much it would cost them to patch it and they first told me I would have to bring it in to get looked at(for 140 dollars again) to see if they could apply the patch but they would likely have to replace the tank. I said I would call back to make an appointment as soon as I could,which I did. When I called the second time another receptionist took the phone from the first one and outright told me they would not patch my tank and wouldnt even try (despite all the information online,youtube videos and testimony in forums about how well it works ). I cant tell if theyre price gouging or ignorant in advances in technology.

They placed special focus on the parts that are easy/safe to do at home.Check it out: they told him that he could bring his car in and theyd find what part(s) need replacing, and then he could take the car home, do the repair, and theyd recharge it for him. Which would save us fistfuls of money.For real, Im telling everyone how awesome these guys are. And none of the cars in my family is ever going anyplace else except my husbands garage or Palumbro!

Oct. 3, 2011 Palumbo’s Automotive in Guilford, CT really cares about their customers. I recently took a used truck to them for pre-purchase evaluation. We were traveling through CT when we began having car trouble, we went and the young man there was extremely helpful and even showed me how to prevent future issues. Extremely friendly staff and overall great service.
