A wise person once told me, Never buy what you can rent. That is true in so many ways, and this is the place to rent what you need. When something goes wrong and you need to dry out that carpet. When that big screen TV mount needs a hammer drill to set the bolts in your fireplace. When you have to pay for your daughters wedding mistake. When you need to take down the 80s wallpaper in the house you just bought. Kentwood Rental has the tool for your needs. Well maybe not a total solution for the tool your daughter is marrying.

Very bad experience.. the guy said he had great equipment for my sons graduation and I specifically asked him weather his tent will hold up if it was raining. He said don’t worry even if it’s storming our tents will keep everyone dry and having fun. Then the slick owner msgs me last minute talking about how his 30 foot tents got destroyed because of a storm and that he can get me the 20 foot one and they will do just as good of a job. Lier!!! Shame on you. You ruined my sons graduation!! I hope someone does the same to you. Do not trust this business!! Be aware they will screw you over and they will not return a call ever. Be careful do not trust the owner

Rented a tent for our Church Anniversary. We were told that we would be getting a nice clean white tent. Instead we received a dirty dingy tent and the guys who put up the tent said they would spray it off if we had a water hose. So they used our hose to spray it off🙄. When we called and complained the manager said I suggest you part ways with us and never use our services again By the way we rented a 20×40 tent and we paid over $700. We would never recommend anyone use Kentwood rental!

The owner is terrible. This place is awful. Super unprofessional and guy up front can barely handle phone calls let alone any stress. Biggest hot head if Ive ever seen one.

My grandfather and I have rented from here a couple of times, had no problems and they (the owner) offer advice or ideas by asking questions on what and why you might need to rent something, which to me might give you a better idea and solution than you go in there for. Prices are cheap for something Im only going to use one time anyway.

Bruce, the owner of Kentwood Rentals, physically threatened me on my property.We reserved a tent on 3/20/21 for a baby shower. Our reservation ran until 4pm (see attached contract). Kentwood arrived early and put the tent right where we asked, so far so good. Bruce then arrived at our house approx. 3:10pm while we still had guests under the tent. My wife kindly informed Bruce that we had the tent reserved until 4pm and that we were still entertaining. She asked that he come back closer to 4pm when our reservation expired. Bruce told (he did not politely ask, he rudely informed her) that if he didn’t pick up the tent soon he’d be working until 5pm. He doesn’t work until 5pm on Saturdays. Either he’d leave the tent until Monday or he’d be back in 20-30 minutes. The tent was directly in front of our garage and we couldn’t wait until Monday for it to be removed, so she asked that he come back. We moved our guests out of the tent and essentially ended our party early knowing that Bruce was returning. When Bruce arrived approx 3:30pm I simply asked for an explanation of why he was not abiding by the contract his company issued. Bruce got loud with me, explained that he told “that woman” (my wife) that we could keep the tent until Monday. Bruce and I loudly disagreed with each other and kept arguing as he was taking the tent down. I was about 10-15 feet away from Bruce as we were arguing. He aggressively approached me twice, the second time he got right in my face, pointed his finger at me, and loudly said “do you want to escalate this”! No mask on btw as he got into my personal space.Tent was loaded on the truck and taken away about 3:50pm.I have a client-facing job. I try to treat everyone with grace and respect especially during the time of COVID. The way Bruce treated my wife and I is simply inexcusable. Bruce broke the contract issued by his business, interrupted our party, was extremely rude to both of us, and threatened me physically on my property.Do not patronize Kentwood Rentals. There are plenty of rental businesses in the Grand Rapids area, take your business elsewhere.I’m sure Bruce will reply to this, deny this happened, and defend himself and his business. If you need corroboration to my review simply see the other one star reviews here detailing how rude this man is.

DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL PLACE. I booked this place prior to Covid in Feb 2020 for our wedding in May of 2020. We had to move our wedding out 1 year because of restrictions and now have to move it out of state as restrictions in Michigan are still 25 people. The 50% non refundable I totally understand when the agreement was made and Covid was not around. Every other place I have called and had things reserved through was able to refund me my money. The individual that answered was really rude and doesnt care for anything other than taking peoples money. These was something that was beyond my control and if they really need to steal peoples money to make it through Covid then so be it. Would never use this place again even if they were the only ones in town doing rentals. Go elsewhere and save yourself a headache with unprofessional and rude individuals.

There counter area and storage area are immaculate, tools are always clean and in top-notch condition, owner and employee are helpful and patient, prices are very fair. A great local business offering a good service at very competitive prices.

I love going to Kentwood Rental for all my party/event supplies. I have used their services for my daughters birthday, retirement parties, kids summer camp events, etc. and I have never been let down. Their supplies are almost always available, they have reasonable prices, they help load and unload the equipment and they are second to none in the city. I recently had an issue with picking up some supplies due to my small car, and I was afraid to mention it to the employees/management. I walked in, informed them of my tough situation, and they swiftly gave me a refund for it no questions asked. I LOVE KENTWOOD RENTAL and you will too.

Great experience . They were flexible with us for a grad party during covid when I didnt know if or when we could have party. Helpful with recommendations for us. Delivery and set up went off without a hitch. Pick up of supplies was easy as well. Would use Kentwood Rental for any future parties!!!

Always have great equipment to rent

Very affordable rental services, I believe they are also family run which is great. I used their items for my wedding and they did fabulously. Ill be recommending them to all of my friends and family who are planning events.

They are so expensive but organized to get the stuff loaded up in the trucks. Hard to put the tents up. Cute white chairs.

They always have what I need. Cost is reasonable and service is generally above expectations.

My main drain plugs up every two years or so. When it does I rent the 75ft snake for around $60 for 4 hours. Well worth it.

It did seem like they could have had more employees in the loading area. But, both pick up and drop off guys worked hard and the young lady in the office was cheerful, helpful and seemed to know the products well. We called ahead with an estimated pick up time and they had our stuff all ready to go.

Stopped in to rent a couple keg coolers when another rental place fell through at the last minute. Service was quick, friendly, and simply wonderful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for rentals. I can only talk pricing on the keg coolers, but they were as cheap as anywhere. I will definitely be calling them first next time!

Best rental shop in the area by a wide margin. Friendly staff, easy to get in and out with your tools. Reasonably priced. Great for party rentals too, much nicer to have the crew set up your tent and deliver the tables and chairs vs wrangling your own.

I have been going to Kentwood Rentals for probably 20 plus years to rent items like power washers and rototillers and have always had excellent customer service! The most recent experience is the best yet.We had just recently lost power due to an ice storm and chose to go there to rent a 4000 Watt power generator. My sump pump at home was filled to the brim, and discovered that after over two hours of using several buckets to remove the water I had just begun to make a dent!I wanted to Kentwood rental to pick up a 4000 Watt power generator but discovered when I got there that it was too big to put in the trunk of my car. The owner offered to deliver it to my house that was about 5 miles away for no additional charge!As I was driving home ahead of his truck delivering the generator I got a call from my wife saying that the power had come on which was about a day and a half earlier than expected! Upon calling the company to cancel the order I was told that the owner would be happy to return the generator and credit back my days to posit! What better customer service can one expect and I thank them sincerely for what theyve done.

I see the most recent reviews must be employees or friends of the business because there is nothing other than the stars..DO NOT GO HERE!! The owner and employee who helped us are definitely not working to help there customers. They should consider taking a step back and letting real professionals do there job.

We rented tables for a school/non-profit function and were told by the man working there at pick-up that all educators and consultants were idiots. We will be utilizing a more professional business in the future and suggesting our clients and community partners do the same.

Kentwood rental did a great job supplying a bounce house , chairs and a tent.The guys came and set it up and took it all down. The next day we ran our sprinkler system and notice the water bubbling in two spots.When we called and reported the problem no on has yet to return our call. They did a great job supplying our party needs but did a lousy job fixing our sprinkler system. No phone call has yet been returned.

The say they close at 6 pm. When I arrived there at 5:55 pm the doors were locked no one in sight. Then I saw the employees walking out to their cars. I asked one of them Can you help me? he told me we close at 6, then looks at his phone for the time. (still before 6 ) then says sorry were all closed up. I had gotten out of work early to do this. I guess I will just rent from someplace else.

Went there looking for some beverage dispensers, there was a distinct lack of customer service. I kinda felt like they were doing me a favor somehow. I did not feel welcomed there at all. I still rented from them because they had exactly what we needed. I went there a day or two later to inquire about an item that was currently on rental. There was a young lady working this time, I assumed that the service would be different, I was wrong. I got the same cold treatment I had received from the gentleman a day or two earlier. I get the feeling they dont like their jobs or something.

We rented choral risers for a childrens Christmas Concert where 400 people attended and over 100 children ages newborn to 5 years old sang Christmas songs. The risers were delivered for our practice but then picked up on the wrong day prior to the actual concert. When I called and talked with the manager he laughed at me and said thats classic. The money was refunded but the experience was horrible.

Never go here very bad customer service along with very junkie rentals. The second day I had it some wire came out which caused it not to work brought it back up there for them to just plug it back in. I think they do this to get extra money when confronted they were very rude swearing, and threatening me because I just wanted to pay for what I needed it for not pay for it to sit in my driveway. This place is a joke and must need the money because they could care less about the fact of my company going behind because of there rental no apology at the fact I had to lug this thing back up there to have a wire plugged in. So from now on go to the place on 28th which is has pre mixed cement and way cheaper and very polite.

I had to get a tow dolly and was a lot cheaper than uhaul. Actually uhaul was trying to nail someone in a corner with a list of expenses in the hundreds. I went to kentwood and got the dolly. They hooked it up. I went and got the person and thier vehicle and brought them home and dropped off the dolly. The dolly was rusty. Who cares. It is used stuff that sits outside. The lights worked fine.

Worst customer service I have ever seen in my life, went there to rent a tow dolly and when I came to return it I had a couple of questions and this older guy,I assume the owner or manager, came in and said in a rude tone: yeah what do you want? I still needed to ask my question even thou he was rude, so I began to ask, I didnt know the name of the part, so I was trying to explain, when he interrupted me and said: anyways, what do you want me to do about it? and I wasnt even done explaining or even asking, I said: you know what never mind, and he said ,ok whatever.I have never experienced such a crappy ,rude and uncomfortable service not to mention the dolly was rusty, and so, hard to deal with, the lights didnt work due to the wires hanging and they were more expensive than U haul, I usually dont like giving ratings, but they were awful, and I honestly wouldnt want anybody to go thru what I went thru.

My sister and I went to Kentwood Rental back in May to reserve a heart arch and two pillars for her wedding this past weekend 9-22-12. Friday the 21st my sister went to pick up the reserved items at 5PM just before the rehearsal only to find out he didnt have a heart arch. Randy (the owner I presume) called a couple other rental places searching for an arch. He then sent my sister out to 28th and Chicago Drive to get the arch. She got there and found out it didnt have a heart. I called back to Kentwood Rental wanting him to correct the problem knowing that I was going to have a very unhappy bride to deal with and what I received was the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life! He proceeded to scream and swear at me over the phone and complain to me how bad his day was...not my problem. He wasnt willing to offer any explaination as to how it happens but he did say that if we had arrived earlier in the day he could have fixed it so basically since we waited til 5PM it was our fault! He then hung up on me! Monday the 24th my sister went to return his items and he was again an arrogant prick! After my sister told him how terrible the service was and that we would no longer use his business for future rentals he said Good, I dont want you as customers! Well Randy...incase you forgot bad news travels fast and with the help of the internet it travels even faster!! I hope your bad day was worth losing business over!

When I rode in to check out the heatgun I was to be renting, I was met with a sneer at the door for wearing bicycling helmet and evidently not being a person in a car. When I went to inspect it, I was asked what I wanted it for, and when mentioning solder work, I was met with sneers and Whatever as a response. When I saw the heatgun was -not- a temperature selectable piece, but an industrial, high power one that was beat to ever loving heck, I pointed out that it wasnt what I needed or wanted, nor that they had the selection they claimed, and was told If ya dont like it, go somewhere else.Thats their right to advise, and I wont fault that, but the uncaring and intolerant attitude, along with poor condition of the equipment made me bike an extra five miles just to find a better, friendlier, and more competant store with better condition tools. Try One Source Rental near 52nd and Division, for instance where I went, or U Rent It on 28th.Now, to be fair, their wedding and event items looked in great repair and condition, and their display room was well laid out and welcoming. Its a pity the people running the place werent.
