I’m not normally one to leave reviews, but the level of customer service provided by Eli from Mountain Side Gear Rental was above and beyond. I have very little backpacking experience. Eli and staff were knowledgeable, their prices were reasonable, and they were very helpful in ensuring that we had everything we needed. On top of that, my flight into Denver was delayed, and didn’t arrive until 9:45 pm. My plan was to drive to Aspen that night and start our hike the next morning. Eli was kind enough to come into the shop at 11:00pm to give us our gear and ensure that we had everything that we needed. His willingness to do this prevented me from having to stay the night in Denver. Couldn’t recommend this shop enough!

Outstanding staff, service and professional expertise. We were looking to rent a pair of ski-shoes (ski trekking) and they were the only shop in Denver that had them. We rented a pair of Altai Hok skis for a week and were so happy with them that we decided to buy. Phil gave us a super deal on the purchase of two pairs that couldnt be matched anywhere online or in stores. Great place - highly recommended.

Found this shop while pricing out childrens snowshoe rentals. Couldnt be happier with the price and the fact that we could keep the gear for 3 days! The owner was super nice and friendly, and even showed me how to put the snowshoes on my little guy. Love supporting a local business and would recommend this shop to anyone!

I am weaning myself and my family away from ordering everything on Amazon! I questioned my decision when I was having trouble locating some specific camping chairs I wanted. I found Mountain Side Gear Rental and they SAVED THE DAY!! Not only did I find what I needed there, I found so much more! The shop is not huge, but very well stocked. The staff was happy to help me with all of my questions and even ordered 2 more chairs for my in-laws, because they wanted a set also. Their rental gear is top of the line, and already has me planning a few trips that I might not have had I not stopped by. The staffs knowledge and enthusiasm was very welcome.Supporting local business makes sense, especially now. Getting A+, face-to-face (with masks) customer service is something youll never get on your computer and keyboard. Check this place out, you wont be disappointed.

So stoked to have found this place!! I came out to CO for a camping trip and, like any classic camping trip, I forgot something important: my tent! Luckily, the team at Mountain Side saved the day. I was able to grab a tent on my way out of the area. The manager there was super helpful and nice. He gave me awesome area recommendations and got me even more excited for my trip! I also grabbed a cooler while I was there, which was something I wasnt going to bring along but it ended up being SO much better that I did. Would highly recommend!! Thanks Jake and team!

Great selection of equipment for snowshoeing, hiking, and camping! They even have avalanche gear for sale. They seemed knowledge and had really reasonable prices.

We came in to get some spikes and poles for a loveland pass hike. Jake was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about hikes in the area and showed us how to properly use all the gear. I wouldnt rent from anywhere else, top notch equipment and service!

Me and a buddy were heading up to Wyoming to Shoshone & Bridger-Teton NF for the eclipse last year and we rented gear from here. The owner could not have been friendlier. It was our first time backpacking and he took his time and explained every piece of equipment to us. All in all we did 25 miles with over 6K ft of elevation in 2 1/2 days. The Deuter backpack was perfect along with all of the other equipment. Ive now become absolutely hooked, bought my own gear & am taking a 12 day backcountry trip in Jasper, Banff, Yoho & Kootenay in AB/BC! If youre looking for someone to outfit your trip, I would definitely come here

Should probably make it a little easier to see your cancellation policy as far as I could discover the only way to find the cancellation policy was to go back through the checkout process again. Had I found it last week I would have canceled then. Maybe the next time.

Reasonable prices, nice gear, staff was insanely nice. We asked about renting fishing poles which it turns out they do not rent, at which point the owner offered to lend us his personal fishing pole. Will come back again and again

MSGR saved the day! I was one of the thousands who owned the Pieps/Black Diamond DSP sport avalanche beacon that has been the topic of a lot of issues. After seeing first hand how easily that beacon could be switched from send to off or search mode, I immediately sent it to Pieps/Black Diamond for warranty replacement. Unfortunately its going to take 2-3 more weeks to get a new beacon back and that was 2 weeks ago. Thanks to MSGR I was able to get out some early season splitboarding I had planned already before my new beacon arrived.Thankfully MSGR has the BEST beacons, Ortovox 3+ (which I have since bought and plan to return or sell my new replacement since Ive lost faith on Pieps/Black Diamond).MSGR was also super responsive and helpful when I tried to return their beacon on a holiday. Super rad people and great gear.They also have a good deal of gently used gear and lots of back packing/backcountry things to buy.

Very happy with my experience at Mountain Side. I received gear for rental in excellent condition and for a great price, and for the size of the shop theres a very good selection of equipment and supplies for both purchase and rental. Ill definitely be coming back in the future.

This is SUCH a great service and company! My boyfriend and I were going on a 4-day trip and were flying so couldnt bring much with us. Mountain Side shipped the box straight to our motel the day before we left. Everything was in perfect condition and worked great during the trip. The 2-person backpackers kit was perfect for us, with the small details like the soap, waterproof matches, and rope really making a difference. The backpacks come with rain covers (MUCH needed as we got very rained on), as well as detachable day-packs. The only thing we added to our order were trekking poles which were super helpful with our heavy packs and river crossings. The only gear items of our own that we brought besides clothing and food was water filtration, water bottles, and of course a fuel cartridge. The first aid kit they include we never had to use (they charge you an extra $12 I think if you open it), but it was nice to have it as security. The cookset was particularly my favorite, extremely compact with the 2 bowls fitting into the small pot and the stove being very tiny and folding up easily. As for the company, they were very communicative and helpful and sent UPS tracking info as soon as our box shipped. I also did a lot of research on the different online gear providers, and Mountain Side is the best deal for the amount you get by far. Next time I need gear for a trip too far away to drive, I will definitely go back to them!

We flew into Denver and were driving to the Tetons and Yellowstone to camp for the week. We needed to rent a couple things and this was the perfect place! The equipment was nice and clean. We were in and out in no time.

Used one of their camping kits by mail and it was excellent. Had it delivered to a hotel and sent it back with a prepaid label after a few wonderful nights camping in NM. Super easy and had everything we needed. Im so glad these guys exist! I live on the east coast and love camping in the west and now its a lot easier.

We rented a very clean, new, and in impeccable shape 3 person tent for our camping trip. The tent was super easy to set up and pack up. It included a footprint. We had ample room for my boyfriend, our 70 lb dog, myself, and some spare clothes and necessities. The prices are amazing and we will 100% be returning for more of our camping needs!

Really helped us out with an affordable toddler hiking carrier rental. They allow after hours pickup and drop off as well. Conveniently located between Denver and Golden.
