In 2015, we had to have my 17-year-old kitty, Dusty, put to sleep. I was there the day he was born and it shattered me to be there the day he died. The staff at GLAH were supportive, compassionate, and gave my son and I the time we needed at the very end to say our goodbyes.Last week, (January 28, 2020), I brought in my 18-year-old kitty, Taffy, for a quality of life evaluation after noticing a number of disturbing signs that her health was failing rapidly. There was a substitute doctor attending that day but she and the assistant were equally supportive, informative, and attentive to my concerns. Although the option to euthanise was discussed, they assured me that she was not in physical pain or distress and so I elected to bring Taffy home to care for her. One week later, Taffy passed away peacefully after a night spent curled up in my arms. Losing her after 18 years has been just as devastating as losing Dusty was.Although these are sad stories, I am sharing them to illustrate that the staff at GLAH acted professionally and compassionately through both of these times. Although a variety of options (testing, medications, etc) were offered and discussed, I never felt like I was being pushed to spend money for the sake of spending money. I would have emptied my bank accounts for either of my kitties but neither of them would have truly benefitted for any length of time and the staff assured me of that instead of pushing me to spend. I will not be having any additional pets as I cannot bear the thought of going through all this again in the future so I would just like to take this time to thank Glen Lake Animal Hospital for helping us through both end-of-life situations.

Many veterinary practices these days are sterile, impersonal and havean ever changing roster of veterinarians. Glen Lake is in an old farmhousenear the village with a simple, homey feel that feels like a good, old time veterinary practice. But,best of all is Dr. Shelly Brooks who is an ardent animal lover and advocate who takes every measure to make sure animals in her care are protected safely and with evident compassion. She explains everything and presents various possible approaches for the best outcomes for your pet. I am so lucky to have found her. Ill remember her forever.

Have been taking my pets there for years. And now they will not refill insulin for my 13 year old dog without seeing 3 times a year. There is no need to bring him in as I do his blood curve to make sure his blood sugar is at a normal level. They also prescribed my dog medication for his heart that was unnecessary. Great to know they are so concerned and do not even have the knowledge to prescribe the right medication. So now they refused to refill the insulin prescription and told me to find a new vet. Do your self a favor and avoid them and go to Daniel Webster Animal Hospital. Look up how someone from there practice was stealing money from their customers in December of 2013. They run a real tight ship!

Glen Lake is the best!! We have been using them for 4 years and each and every time we go in (be it a well or sick visit) that have always tended to our dog like he was their own. This last visit our little man was crying with some pain which made me in turn cry (nobody wants to see their fur baby in pain) and the staff was great. Dr. Shelley Brooks is always gentle, kind and patient. Her personality reveals her passion and compassion for animals. I completely trust my little man in her care. The feeling I take away from my experience at Glen Lake is one that makes me feel like I am being a good pet parent. The relationship we have with Dr. Brooks and Glen Lake can be likened to that of family. You feel at home when you are in their home.
