I have a good experience overall. Yes you most meet all the requirements in order for their program to work. They are kind and allowed me to get documents I needed. Communication is key. Still going through the process and on phase 6. My case manager is very easy to talk to. I checked out their Facebook page and excited to grow with my mentors.

They never answer the phone. People are looking for resources, no matter how many times you reach out to them no matter what extension they do not answer the phone. Why have hours of operation listed and almost anytime you call throughout the hours listed no one is available to speak to you. This is ridiculous!

I am so sorry for the people that were not accepted into the program and I can certainly see why they are so disappointed given their tough situations. I do know that they have some strict rules. I want to take a moment to say that I know someone very close to me whose life has be transformed miraculously by the support Bridge Communities has given her. This organization is an amazing blessing for those who are accepted. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. I am sure it has to be so hard for this organization to make a selection among all the people who are in great need.

I first learned about Bridge as a caseworker for a shelter in DuPage. Yes, their program is rigorous, but it is purposeful. The program teaches the clients basic life skills to prepare them for independethood. I had pleasant experiences with staff, and the clients I have interacted with say nothing but great things about this organization. Keep up the great work Bridge. You are more than putting a bandaid over the problem!

Spent months -literal months going through all steps, all sorts of inquiries into our lives, which I understand to a certain degree for them to offer such services. Weeks worth of interviews and appointments in offices and various locations, gas and travel, time out of work and away from children to attend them, as well as phoning and emails back and forth- only to be denied, since others are a better fit, more in need and who qualify by whatever magical formula it is that works for this organization. There must be tons of single moms with zero other support-ever, whose children have never met their father, who pays no child support or anything else and left a struggling woman alone with his massive additional debt. Certainly a ton of folks who make around 20k/year TOTAL with several part time jobs combined, who don’t consistently have regular food available-it’s 8:19pm and I didn’t have any $ to eat at all again today, nor a committed place to sleep at night or even take a shower/use a bathroom/clean up.We have been homeless since the summer. It is colder now. Our car broke-yet Again. My laptop is so old-over a decade that it can’t even support the internet anymore-wanted to update resume and apply for better and more jobs. My cell phone barely works, has been reset so many times and has to be charged constantly plus restarted about ten times each day and counting.I get that others are worse off and that it is absolutely nobody else’s fault or responsibility beyond my own. But seriously. I don’t smoke, drink, do drugs, swear, even have a boyfriend or anything, no pets; I wanted to be able to make this happen so terribly badly. I thought it could work, yet once again... hope for each of us was brought up by this organization, only to be let so far down.I should also mention we applied two different times and were even shown where we would be able to live and met with mentors and such ween after week and they still didn’t thing we deserved anything after All we tried to put forth. Thank you for the thoughtful consideration. It could have really been some thing.

I honestly wouldnt have given even the one star. But i have to leave at least one.I spoke to an intake worker. Was in the process of doing an application and she was more being critical and treating me as if i was below her. She questioned each of my answers. As I told her via the convo.. I would rather be homeless than ever have to talk to her again!

I am still in shock. I was just denied HOUSING assistance because my wife doesnt have a valid drivers license! How is that even relevant? What does my wife having a license or not have to do with helping me keep a roof over my kids heads? Absolutely ridiculous.
