Weve been eating here for years. They recently updated the interior, so its pretty nice inside. Their dim sum is always delicious. The staff are very busy and forgot several times when we asked them to bring us stuff, but otherwise, they are very nice.

I went here with my family. It was during labor day weekend so it was not too crowded. The amount of variety of dim sum they had was awesome. I was too full to try even more stuff. Food is delicious. I will come back again. We are from philadelphia!

Glad to see this place is open again. One of the better Chinese restaurants in this area with a decent sit down area. They adjust spice level upon request which is also nice.

Food was horrible, came to the table half way cooked. Nephew and i were the only 2 people there but it took 10 minutes to get service. The original New fortune was great, this one is the worst chinese restaurant ive been to in awhile.

I really enjoy the dim sum but I havent try out their other menu but I really like the dim sum menu they have variety of dishes. The Taro cakes are delicious. They great selection of seafood. I was having trouble finding the dessert cart to come around but other than that it was great.

Been coming here for years for weddings and dim sum. Food here is average Chinese/ Cantonese. Prices are reasonable and there are plenty of parking spots for large events. Traditional dishes served here are well seasoned and I dont think Ive ever had anything sent back to the kitchen. Out of all the dim sum places in MD Oriental East and Silver Fountain are at the top.

Great Dim sum. Loved the pork congee. The Chinese dragons for lunar New year were fabulous. Good service

Their Fried Rice is Sooooo fricking good I cannot even describe, along with the lo mein which is very delicious, this is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Close by so go there from time to time. Always get the dim sum. It is just average. They are very disorganized and the food isnt always very hot. Gets the job done if yiu want dim sum amd live close by.

Food was fresh and delicious. We came on a weekday evening and there were only a few customers. Service was prompt. I understand their dim sum menu and food is delicious as well.

They graciously set up a fixed-price banquet of six courses for our book club for $30 a person. This made everything very simple for the large group! Food was great. 19 people all sat around a huge round table, with a lazy susan in the middle. Great evening!

The restaurant is very large and can accommodate many people. It wasnt very crowded when we were there on Saturday evening. We really enjoyed the three dishes we ordered and the service was great!

The gentleman that was working the front (supposedly helping carry out order customers) neglected me even though I was in the front of the line. He gave better service and spoke more pleasantly to the Chinese customers over me and this white elderly couple. The couple and I looked at each other, like are you serious? Horrible experience. I cancelled my order and left. Never coming back.

Dim sum. All the dishes youd expect for dim sum are found here. Push carts are plentiful with lots of varieties. Too bad their air conditioning wasnt working 100% on one of the hottest days of the year. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the food at New Fortune where is is plenty of free parking.

This place adequately scratches the itch for dim sum. It is huge...cavernous. they make decent to good and occasionally very good things that show up on the roving carts. Getting the cart you want to show up can sometimes be a challenge. But good all around. There are better places in the DC metro area but this will do for sure.

This is only place i eat fried rice and other asian foods from. I trust them and theyre always pleasant people

I tried this place for lunch at the recommendation of a Chinese friend who said this was some of most authentic Chinese food in this area. The interior is big but nothing fancy. The staff were very friendly and explained the dim sum menu to us. They roll out many dishes on the carts and you just start choosing what you want to eat. Theyll make sure to make what you want if you let them know. We enjoyed 4 or 5 different dishes and paid $25 for our meals.

Solid place to eat thats open late with food that hits the spot. Get their chicken chow mein (pan fried noodles)--its so good, I go there for that alone. Id also recommend the deep fried shrimp cake in taro and sticky rice which are available during dim sum. They also have great noodle soups. Service is on par with other Chinese places; not super attentive, but never annoying.

Outstanding restaurant and very honest employees! I left something expensive behind and they kept it for me and I was able to pick it up the next morning!! Highly recommend!!

Very disappointing. The AC system is broken. Theyve installed a system near the entrance but its completely unable to keep up with the size of the room. On a hot day, its actually hotter in the restaurant than it is outside.Theres also not much to choose from in terms of dim sum with only three or four carts going around; one of which is some kind of sweet tofu dessert.When we couldnt take anymore of the heat, we asked to box up our leftovers. They gave us the cheapo styrofoam boxes that dont hold in food well if theres a lot of sauce. We asked for a plastic bucket and they claimed not to have any, despite the fact the fact that they gave one to another table. Lastly, it took 15 minutes for them to run our credit card. More time to bask in the sauna.

Excellent dim sum. Apart from that, the menu is vast with fantastic options. The service is solid good but not excellent. Depending on your personal taste the frequent weddings with karaoke can either be a horrible mood killer or a fantastic form of entertainment. Still, some of the best Chinese food in MD. Note: they do not really serve American Chinese.

Old school Hong Kong Cantonese spot with dim sum carts every day. They have a large space that has events (weddings). There is something for everyone one. From tame American Chinese to the more exotic. Food is decent so give it a try.

Horrible, I couldnt get any service for 20 minutes. It took way too long for the food to come. I do not recomend for anyone to come.Dirty cups, dirty plates, and they took my menu when i wasnt finished ordering! Dont come.

This place sell some of the best Chinese food in Maryland! Their dim sum rivals that of some of the dim sum Ive had in Los Angeles and Honolulu! Who would have thought a restaurant in Gaithersburg Maryland would serve excellent Chinese food!

I love Dim sum because the carts of foods is on the wheels and your just picking what you like. However, the dishes isnt fresh. The service has improved slightly since Ive been here before. Overall, its good eating.

This is by far the best dim sum Ive ever experienced with the best steamed pork bao and shumai that Ive ever eaten. The only possible negative is that we live so far away way from it and will have to wait a while to return.

Second time here for dim sum and definitely come again when in the area.All the dishes weve tasted were very flavorful and big in portion size. Our only regret that they dont offer wide variety of the steamed dumplings like snow pea leaves and shrimp/scallop dumplings, spinach and shrimp dumplings and many others from veggy/seafood category that the other places like Marks Duck house, Oriental East and others do.BUT what they offer tastes really great and the service was wonderful both times.

Staff was rather inattentive and rude, the place looked dirty and cluttered, and while the food was okay from the menu the dim sum menu was mediocre. If you’re vegetarian don’t consider going here.

The ambience of this place is like an American Restaurant trying to look Chinese. It just doesn’t match. The food is pretty average; if you want to enjoy a good traditional Chinese dish, don’t go there. Their service is pretty good, waiters make everything to keep you satisfied, that being said the food quality is just not good enough..

Food was good. Nice variety. Customer service a little lacking. Waiter I had was extremely annoyed that I questioned the menu item I ordered because I didn’t know what it was. Cashier was impatient and rudely told me to go get cash or other card (neither of which I had). He couldn’t (or too lazy) figure out how to use a card with chip malfunction. Insert three times and swipe. Someone else had to do it and he was running around in the back complaining that he already did that. To the owner: you should think about training your staff to have some hospitality and customer service skills.

Sucks by NOVA standard. Background, I was originally from HK, which was the birthplace of Cantonese food; I have spent three years working in Cantonese restaurants in San Francisco, which also has the best Chinese food in the US. I dont recommend this restaurant to anyone who seek authentic Cantonese good. I went to this place for dinner during a Monday night in December. I ordered Ginger Green Onion Oyster, stir frog, and also Beef with Radish. All dishes were served cold...the beef with radish was very terrible because the radish was sour (which means it has rotten). The stir fry frog is also terrible because it has too much starch....plus they didnt cook the frog in the pot that they serve, which is a no-no in authentic Cantonese cooking. Even the tea served in the restaurant tasted funny, it has this black pepper taste thats not suppose be there. This place would have received four stars if its in somewhere like Indiana. But in Northern VA and DC area. Its not worth the money.

Lots of varieties but the taste is average. I still come here, though, because there isnt that many dimsum place around that push out dimsum plates on carts, and I can choose what I want. A place my wife and I will go if we want to be able to choose small dishes and have fun tasting

I went for an event. The food was good but the service was terrible. Some at my table had finished dinner before I got my food. And since we were a group, the tip was included. Never before had I wanted to stiff the waiter. :(

Over 40 health code violations this year. Place is filthy. Staff argues with each other instead of caring about customers. Food is cold and greasy. Had been a long time supporter of this restaurant no longer. Many other better options in Montgomery County.

So disappointing. When you receive the bill, make sure to double check because they over charge and don’t admit to it. I approached them about the extra $7 that they charged me and they denied the overcharge. This happened the last time we went to New Fortune but I thought it was a one time mistake. I assume this happens a lot. Be cautious when you receive the bill. I attached a picture or the bill. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worse enemy.

This restaurant has decent food for its price, but is often overcooked. Orders for pickups are sometimes mixed up and the staff does not answer my phone call for a swab or refund. Overall the food is ok and management is bad.

I went recently, and it was okay. Everything was decent except for this over cooked turnip dish. The servers doesnt speak the best English, but then again I cant pretend I know the dim sum dishes by name. It really is point and gesturing experience with the server naming the ingredients for me. Since I figure you are what you eat, it is good enough for me.(Update: I kept going back to see if they are open, and they havent. The funny thing about their waiter is that even though I mostly order the same dishes, they would send out something different. Kind of wish they had a simpler menu though food is worth the wait.)

Great food, we have been ordering carry out from here since Covid seems to be hitting restaurants hard. I will say it seems like there is a new chef, but the standard dishes are still good. Dishes we have found to be regularly good and we often order are the salt and pepper shrimp, dry beef chow foon noodles, deep fried crab claws, chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, shrimp and walnuts, pork buns, singapore noodles and salt baked shrimp with chili.

I used to go here but because food start to degrade also dirty and some left over that they dont sell dimsum and resell next day. I told the waiter to get me new one, he brought out same old dish. Dishes really bad and dirty most of time. Also calculate your bill before pay, there 2 times I caught them miscalculate my bills.
