I recently sold my car and had to discontinue the insurance. Sounds like a simple matter, right? Not so much.First I had to get the Virginia DMV to acknowledge that I no longer had a car. If I canceled my insurance while the DMV thought I still had a car, they could yank my license and fine me. The DMV instructed me to mail the plates to Richmond, which I did about two months ago. No one has seen them since. I suspect they are in a DMV mailroom in Richmond, but no one knows for sure.Trying to prove my lack of a car has been a mess of un-returned phone messages and unanswered emails.The only bright spot was the competent, courteous, responsive people in Buster Nelsons office. Cecely always responded immediately and knew how to guide me through the process. With her help, I succeeded. My insurance has been canceled back to the date I sold the car, and a refund check is on its way.It is even remotely possible that the DMV will find my plates someday and issue me a refund, but probably not. Cecely does not work there.

I was with Buster Nelson for about three years while I was living in Virginia. Going into the office was always a pleasant experience, everyone was very nice and I never had to wait very long. Mr. Nelson himself is a very friendly guy. The reasoning for three stars is because of their lack of communication via phone. It is near impossible to speak with someone on the phone. You can leave messages, but you do not often hear back from them. For one issue, they had taken care of the issue I had left a message about, but did not follow through with me to let me know it was handled. Another issue was multiple calls over a weeks time span and then I had to call my new out of state agent to contact Mr. Nelson on his cellphone to get a response. If you have the capability of going into the office every time you need something, this office is sufficient, but their phone communication needs improvement before I would recommend them.

Giving a major shout-out to Samantha Rose of this establishment! Ms. Rose provided excellent customer service when I reached out for help with a car loan. In a time where technology is popular, it is great to know that there are still people who genuinely care and ensure you feel it. Keep up the great work you and the staff provide to the community!

I’m 46 years old with a spotless driving record who has been with State Farm going on two decades. I have always been more than satisfied with the representation and professionalism that State Farm has always given me. In my time with this particular agent of State Farm however, this “agent” or particular agency hasn’t showed me either. The agent has changed multiple times in the last decade alone which I probably should have took concern over. I have never experienced as much unprofessionalism and total disrespect and disregard for a client than I have with this office “agent”. They can easily change your policy and tell you one thing only to be lost and baffled and rude in trying to explain why what policy you end up having and the amount you’re paying isn’t what was earlier discussed. They are unorganized, in knowledgeable and extremely unprofessional at their job at hand. Insurance is too vital and important to have to leave in the hands of an agency so incompetent and unprofessional. I would not recommend to anyone to put your trust and faith into this agency. As State Farm themselves are a top notch insurer whom I will continue to use and recommend to anyone, I personally cannot say all “agents” of State Farm are created equal. If you choose to put your life’s Insurance needs with State Farm, be smart and find yourself a good agent of State Farm. However and unfortunately this agent isn’t the one.

They answer and return calls when you want to buy a policy. I left 4 voicemails no answer, left a message with their 800 number and no answer. They finally answer, i specifically ask them to cancel only the auto insurance. They cancel all my policies. I spend the next two weeks leaving messages asking about my policy to see if the homeowners was in place. I then get an angry letter from my mortgage saying i dont have insurance on my house. I call until they answer, because they ignored my voicemails again. They answer and take 20 minutes to reinstate it, i request them to send confirmation, They do, but do not send me my dec page so i can send it to my mortgage company. It is finally resolved. My house is sold 2 weeks later. on 08/30 I call to cancel at 430est. They are closed for some reason and i leave a voicemail. In the voicemail i say my phone number and email 2 times asking for a response when canceled. Today on 09/09 they say they have already canceled it yet online it shows active and full in force.Sabrina was rude to me, rather than saying they forgot to cancel it she lies to me and says it takes 30 days to cancel a policy even though when they messed up and cancelled my policy they did that in less than a week. Hopefully the policy is cancelled now, still have not had any confirmation sent to me that it was canceled or being cancelled. I have been with this agency for over 4 years, never once took longer than 1 hour to get a call back, but all those calls were buying not cancelling.Edited 09/11/2019My policy is still in force. Are you for real fright now? 30 days to cancel a policy? If that is your company procedure to take 30 days to cancel a policy then more reason to avoid your company as a whole. I am glad that your company has decided it takes 30 days to cancel a policy that took 5 minutes to issue. Also interesting that Geico, Allstate and every other insurance can cancel same day and SEND A CONFIRMATION OF CANCELLATION. Still have not received that. You replied to this review faster than you responded to my voicemails, since you know, you never responded to my voicemails, but hey an empty reply to a review on google makes sense, not you know, actually resolving the issue at hand.

Absolutely un necessary and a waste of my time . I originally called the office to request a policy letter that showed proof of my daughter auto insurance policy that her father started for her.From the initial conversation with the receptionist I felt as if things werent going to go as plan. I was direct to the on duty manger Courtney. whom just seemed to be very clear of the company policy and procedures. I stated to Courtney that my daughter resided in my home a different location than my ex husband and that I needed information for my current insurance company to confirmed my daughter was listed on her fathers policy. Seems like an easy request right? Not for Courtney and this office which confused the situation called me a liar, when my ex husband and myself called them to confirm the permission for me to access my daughters account. Then this employee refused to provide me with the proper documents needed for my insurance company. Seriously that entire establishment needs major adjustment . Definitely not a company I would recommend to anyone . Do yourself and family a favor Stay Away From Buster Nelson State Farm Agency ...Save yourself the headache ....
