The best car repair place I’ve been to, the owners are a sweet couple that take such good care of you!! I went in for them to replace the car key fob battery and they did it right away and were so nice about it. Won’t get service like this anywhere else.

Ok this is the 5th car I am taking to Tools in Hands for inspection. Mr TIM has always been honest straightforward mechanic. I cannot imagine taking my car elsewhere. Inspection is exactly what to expect and if he passed you then know you have a good car. Very friendly service and they will always find ways to accommodate you.

Really impressed with the level of service and especially the price. They found two small things with my inspection and called me to explain them and offered to let me fix them myself. I know my way around a car enough and could easily see that I wasn’t being jerked around. They even went above and beyond with one of the minor repairs to make my day. Would highly recommend.

My experience with Tool in Hand was frustrating. They misdiagnosed a steering rack leak and failed the Maryland safety inspection of my newly purchased car. Thankfully I had another mechanic double check and the steering rack was fine, but Tool in Hands mistake still wasted many hours and the cost of another mechanics diagnosis, as well as the cost of reinspection (elsewhere). But it would have cost me over $1000 (in addition to my time and the lost vehicle time) if I trusted them and replaced the whole steering rack as they recommended. Id recommend going somewhere else.Edited to add: there was, and is, no leak from the steering rack. I dont know why Tool in Hand would have said that, but it seems to me that the two most likely explanations are incompetence or dishonesty.

They are the best in town because they are honest. Honesty is a trait that is very hard to find. I can recommend Tim and Carol wholeheartedly.

Top-notch professional service & care for your car! What an amazing place. Went in early this morning as I had purchased a pre-owned vehicle and was wondering if I had made a good purchase decision. As the car needed a Maryland inspection I brought it to Tool In Hand after reading all of the good reviews. Needless to say - the service was very professional and punctual and they answered all of my questions about my car - yep, it was a good decision to buy it! The cost for the inspection was also very reasonably priced. Nice!

They won a customer for life. My mechanic was in Gaithersburg unfortunately he died 2 monnths. I was in search of a Honest Mechanic. I just stopped by this store to see how much it is to fix my Dashboard Light.Instead of Charging me ,$118.50 Labor. The mechanic showed the honesty by showing me how the light dimmed off from the dashboard.I went to 2 other places they told me Over $150 expense.Tool in Hands you are awesome. I am so sorry I dont remember the name bur I know he was Eating a Donut ,😊

I had my vehicle Maryland inspected here. When you make appointment here they are fantastic on getting your vehicle back in the shop and started right away. My vehicle had two manor things that needed to be taking care of before it would pass. I took care of the items myself. Then it had to of course go back to them for re inspection once again they didnt waste any time getting the vehicle back there and started to re inspect it. The receptionist on both appointment were up beat and cheerful. 5 Stars all the way guys and gals.

I have dealt with this facility on a couple different occasions. I have an extensive background being a retired automotive repair technician for Dealerships as well as Independent shops. I can tell you That this repair shop is the prime example of what all other repair shops should be. They are honest, reliable and trustworthy. Being an old school tech it is very hard to allow someone else under the hood of my vehicle. ToolInHand in Frederick is the only place I have found for a long time.

They were very upfront about their prices and they plug the hole in my tire very quickly.

I had previously gotten a state safety inspection at another location and wanted a second opinion on repairs. They insisted that I actually go in the shop and look at what needed to be repaired, which was the same as the previous inspection, however there were three additional and blatantly obvious things needing fixed the other shop had missed. Total for all repairs with cost of inspection was $600 less than the steading rack replacement at the other shop. Inspection was very quick and very thorough. Repairs were reasonable with the costs explained beforehand.

Ive been coming here for now about a year and I cant think of another place to take even my oil change now. Always work with the owner Tim whos a great grandpa charm character. And his wife sometimes covers the front desk. Feels very family oriented. But you can email, call, leave a voice mail and Tim will get back to you literally asap. You leave a voicemail at 8pm, the next day I get a call back around 7:45 which is earlier than they even open (8am)! Hes great. Remembers me and my husband. Tries to remember your car. Offers to do just the labor work and you can buy the parts yourself. Which I love! (Hard to find)The only thing is their weird hours. Theyre only open from 8-5 M-F. Which if you work an average job (I work from 9-5:30) I have only enough time to drop my car off but not to pick up. Thats ok!! See Tim is totally fine keeping your car and offers to set an arrangement for you to pick your car up after hours. Ask him about how you can do that, its easier than you might think. If you end up leaving it overnight though he will charge you I think $20. Thats just really so you dont abandon it he says lol. Its a small place with a big place in my heart. Truly. Dont let theseedy whole in the wall vibe distract you. I recommend them to all my friends!

Went here for a state inspection. They need some things that I thought was silly (steering wheel cover, fabric in ceiling hanging slightly), as well as legit things like a power steering hose leak and a wheel bearing. They were able to get me in within 2 days. I was very thankful as my tags expired then too 😬 They offered for me to do any work myself to save money, which was nice. Their prices were also really reasonable. Because they did some work on my car, they did NOT charge a reinspection fee and sent my pass form to the MVA very quickly. I went to the MVA same day and they already had it!

They are doing good job but not honest about price. They have hidden cost and make reason is state of md. They Supposed to tell customerBeginning about time and mileage’s laws and than customer adjust their time go back and fixed their problem with the vehicle.
