Its been a year since I started training at GB FLL, and I would not want to go anywhere else. In fact, I am relocating from the South FL area for work, and I still plan on training HERE, why, because the level of knowledge, and the family feel you get here is unparalleled. Ricardo Pires is one of the most experience coaches out there, and as a result Ive improved my game (even after me not training for over 5 years) within months of training there. Now theres also a second head instructor Alexandre cafe Dantas with incredible experience, and plenty of discipline for the training. This is legit BJJ training team. If youre looking for quality instruction, look no further. I have been to a few schools and been around various professors, but Professor Cafe is truly in a league of his own. Aside form being a world champion, he cares about his students. He takes the time to watch, teach and help progress students with their techniques. I progressed so much in only a few short months with him. It is an excellent school, environment, and you will not be disappointed.

This gym is honestly the best gym Ive ever been to. The professors there (Ricardo & Victor Pires) have created an amazing family atmosphere. I felt welcomed from the moment i came through the doors. The training is very technical and very well taught. It really is an ego-free gym and everyone is there to help better one another. 10/10 would recommend.

Down from New York on vacation and wanted to take a private class.I tell you, these guys are first class all the way. They made me feel comfortable and welcome and most of all , were careful to be safe with me.The next time Im down to visit, Ill be sure to visit Gracie Barra again. Ricardo, Phillipe and the other teacher in the 6am class were awesome and nothing but welcoming. I tried out a few classes and would recommend this anyone at any level of fitness. Unfortunately due to distance I couldnt end up signing but if time wasnt an issue I would definitely pick this jiu jitsu spot because of the friendly atmosphere, clean mats, and good vibes.

I had the privilege of being present at the Grand Opening of this gym in April 2015. I fell in love with the space right away. To start with the little things which are also big things, the space is gorgeous and full of light. I get a little claustrophic in small gyms but this one is huge with nice big windows. The locker rooms (one for men, one for women) are spacious and yes there are showers! There is a nice lobby area for visitors when you walk in the door. Master Ricardo is an exceptional coach and instructor (a friend of mine described him as legendary so that should tell you something) and his son Victor is well on the way to following in his footsteps.

I have trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Gracie Barra Fort Lauderdale for one year already. I can only say that I have been very satisfied so far with my choice, and here is why. Reason #1: Professor Café is a proven world chapmion who has been Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and an active competitor for around 20 YEARS ALREADY. The techniques that he shows he proved to be working in jiu jitsu and MMA competitions. Reason #2: a very friendly athmosphere and multicultural environment. Everyone is very helpful to each other. Reason #3: a clean and nice gym. Reason #4 Gracie Barra franchise is a well known brand in jiu jitsu. Look it up on Google.A previous reviewer put one star and mentioned bad customer service.Honestly, I experienced the very same thing with this school when I was shopping around. I had to contact this school 2-3 times on Facebook and over the phone to get information. But eventually, I checked a few martial arts schools and decided to attend Gracie Barra Fort Lauderdale. When I showed up for my first class at this gym Professor Ricardo apologized for being busy. Honestly, I think this is the best school in Pompano Beach/Fort Lauderdale/Oakland Park/Wilton Manors area. Come check it out yourself, you will not regret.

This school is awesome! I recently just started training and I am pleased that I found such amazing instructors. I do the Muay Thai class and then go right into the Brazilian Jiujitsu. There is so much to learn and train I can honestly say I am addicted.

I trained under Ricardo and Victor Pires in Ohio for a couple of years. I have trained for multiple sports under a multitude of coaches, and the Pires family are more than just knowledgable. A good coach teaches both his / her sport and concepts that can be used in everyday life, and the a smart student learns more than just the techniques of the sport for which he / she is training. I have never been as thankful as I am for the time that I spent learning from these teachers. If youre in Fort Lauderdale FL. and you want to learn Jiu-Jitsu, than this is the place to do it.
