I have used the services of FVH for over 30 years and have never had a negative experience. The office staff are extremely pleasant, friendly and efficient, And Doctor Heidi.... I can,t say enough positive things about her. She helped me through the last year of life with my previous Sheltie that developed kidney problems with care and compassion. Most recently she spent 20 minutes on the floor of the office evaluating my current sheltie, for a knee issue, rather than examine her on a scary, cold metal table. I have moved 45 minutes from Folsom and yet, I will continue to utilize FVH. They are like family.

Dr. Fischer took an aggressive approach to treat a pretty sick cat. Steps that lead to a very significant improvement in his health and sense of well being. She kept in touch by phone during the early course of treatment to insure we were on the right track. Her willingness to step up to the plate and treat the cat without the need for endless testing and head scratching was refreshing to say the least.

I am very happy to find them aftrr moving here from bay area. 3 of my neighbors recommended them.Jack, my dog and I had scuffle with 4ft rattlesnake in backyard 3 days ago.Lucky outcome for us.Jack will get snake vaccine in 2 weeks there to protect him better.Follow up 1.I found out while saving our two dogs from the rattler, I was hit in 3 places.Found out next day in shower when my left hand was numb anddropped the doap, and saw 3 bright red bites and scratches on one arm and leg.Urgent care treated me inspection, disinfection, with shots, and a pain killer.Jack had his 3rd shot 2 weeks ago. He is now ready for the spring round up when it comes.Happy New Year!

I was nervous to get my cat her needed rabies shot for my apartments yearly compliance. She is an indoor cat and typically doesnt react well to strangers. I chose this vet because of their deals on Wednesdays. I was very pleased with the care they showed towards me and my cat. Highly recommend choosing them

I give a 1 star review because they FALSELY advertise their low cost vaccination clinics as No appointment Necessary. I walked in today only to be told that my pet would not be able to be vaccinated because I dont have established care there. I would have to do a well exam. The person at the front desk was polite and said they could wave the well-exam fee and schedule me for next Wednesday. I am trying to get vaccinations for a pet that is being re-homed and dont need to establish care with the vet as they will likely never be seen here again. I believe they should make it known publicly that they will not vaccinate your animal until they have had a well exam with one of their vets. What a waste of time!Update: while I appreciate your prompt response. I did not see it clearly stated anywhere that a well appointment was REQUIRED. I sincerely hope you correct this. This was the only thing I saw on your website:Well exam -A well exam is a general exam with the doctor on a healthy animal. Many times these are necessary to refill a prescription like heartworm preventative to ensure proper doctor/client/patient relationship has been established.Unfortunately, Google wouldnt allow me to post a photo or I wouldve attached the one I took of the banner out front as well as screen shots from your website.

First time needing to go to veterinarian hospital to get my dog spayed. I set up the appointment for a week in advanced. When I went to drop off my dog the staff was very friendly and welcoming and seemed very knowledgeable for the questions I had. The following day I picked her up and the gentleman at the front informed me that there were some added costs due to her being in heat. He explained the procedure for the operation and was able to answer all the questions I had regarding the operation and costs break out. I would definitely recommend this vet hospital to a friend! Very friendly and I felt like my dog was in good hands.

Great docs and staff!

Besides few small nuances I think I can say that I like this place. The vet-doctor (Heidi) seemed knowledgeable and took time to talk to me and didnt seem rushed to leave as Ive seen other veterinary businesses. The only thing I didnt like is we discussed one person to come help and instructions were supposed to be passed to her but that didnt happen and some other boy was sent who seemed clueless and didnt know the details we discussed so I had to ask for the proper person and make sure they knew what needed be done. But again I can understand the vet got busy or forgot to give instructions nobody is perfect. Overall happy with the place and even the receptionist seems fairly nice. The guy I spoke with about medicine and gal who applied it were nice and knowledgeable. Anyways so far very happy with the place. Keep up good work.

Our veterinarian went above and beyond by calling us twice in 2 days to check on our dog after bringing him into the office for a heart condition. The fact that she took the time on a holiday weekend to call us meant a lot.A couple weeks ago we brought our sick elderly cat in to be put down. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist did a good job explaining what to expect, and everything went as smooth as can be expected. Everyone from the front desk staff to the veterinarian doing the procedure was extremely sensitive to the situation. We even received a hand written card from the office sending their condolences.Thank you Folsom Veterinary Hospital!

We took our very sick dog here and after about 7 x-rays and a exam the doctor was unable to tell us what was wrong with her, the only thing she could say was she would want to do a few more x-rays. Our dog ended up passing that night. I feel this vet is not competent and we are very disappointed in the quality of care.

True professionals,My dog had an emergency issue related to his post-operation eye wound healing. The dog had staples holding his left eye eyelids together that was supposed to protect his eye from dryness and infection. This morning, I found my dog in agonizing pain, shaking his head, and trying to rub his healing eye against his e-collar. After closer inspection, I discovered that the upper part of the staple was no longer attached to the upper eye lead; instead, it was freely floating on the eye surface, causing pain and creating new wounds. Forgot to mention that the initial surgery and the staples were performed at another facility specialized in ophthalmology; and they were unable to see us right away this morning referring us to our regular veterinarian. I called to our Folsom Vet Clinic, explained our situation, and I was advised to get there ASAP. My dog was literally taken inside the time I rushed through the door whispering we are having an eye emergency appointment...Due to the coordinated care of the staff, my dogs eye was saved and we continue healing.

I have been taking my dogs and cats to FVH for years. Basic care (shots, check ups) is okay, anything beyond that is terrible. After last incident with my cat I finally said enough is enough, time to look for another vet. Their focus is not a health of your pet, its how much they can get out of your wallet. Unnecessary expensive procedures would be suggested without any consideration of what really may be going on. Heres the last experience which did it.My indoor cat had some swelling on his eye - the first and only version of the vet was foxtail (how likely is that for an indoor cat?) They strongly advised to go in and look, didnt find anything (of course!), prescribed some expensive antibiotic and cortisone eye drops - ca-ching, ca-ching, ca-ching... Half an hour and hundreds of dollars later I brought the cat home, he was crying and screaming for hours as the anesthetic wore off, by evening his eye tripled in swelling and redness from all the digging the vet did. I finally wised up, read up on eye problems, got herbal eyewash kit ($11.03) and we, my cat and I, never looked back.Make a book The nature of animal healing by Martin Goldstein, DVM, your desk bible before your visit to any vet.

I had been taking my 2 German Shepherds to this vet for about 2 yrs. I started to notice once I got my 2nd puppy that they charged a lot for individual doses and packs of heartgard and frontline. They advertised themselves as a discount clinic and they may be on office visits, but they make it up for what they charge in other services and the meds they prescribe.I had enough of them when I took my 10 year old shepherd in because her limp had gotten worse. I already knew she had elbow dysplasia.. They still took 2 xrays for $186 and then went on to prescribe the most expensive anti-inflammatory meds. I told them I couldnt afford $8 a pill, but they didnt seem to care. After doing some research and talking to the Germans Shep org I discovered there are many generic drugs that work just as well. I went to another vet, got a prescription and bought a 2 month supply for $25. My shepherd is doing great now, no thanks to them. This clinic is out to make money and does not care anything about your pets is my experience. There are many better choices out there.
