I had a great experience, we arrived to the Fairbanks airport to get our beautiful SUV, the lady attending by night was so nice and very helpful and we did not take that long to get our keys and ready to go. The car drop-off was so easy too. We had any inconvenient with this rental company.

This rental location is beyond absurd.1) They told me that they are NOT budget, but rather a private company uses budget name. And they wont honor regular budget specials/fastbreak status.2) Unprofessional and greedy management. Reservation is a joke, and their priority/waiting list (whether you get a car if they oversold) is based off how much customer pays. If you booked early and paid at a lower fare, No Car For You...3) The worst part is probably how they manage the reservations. After a year of rental car shortage, all other companies at FAI have planned ahead and scaled back available reservations. Only this greedy location kept reservations wide open knowing they have oversold. I was there in mid-Sep of 2021, they had oversold more than 15 reservations at that evening. By the time I left airport around 11PM, there were about 20 ppl (including 2 families with little kids) stranded without a car. The cold blooded staffs at the courter did absolutely nothing.If you ever need to rent a car at Fairbanks, try to stay away from this place, or at least have a plan B.

They called me 4 hours before I arrived as a “courtesy” to let me know they did not have a car for me even though I reserved one months in advance. Budget, you knew you over booked! Why wait 4 hours before hand?! Lady who called offered me zero suggestions on other resources to find a rental. Luckily, someone overheard me at the airport and suggested Turo. Had to pay $700 more for a rental but at least I was able to get to my non refundable hotels. Budget, you are costing people hundreds if not thousands of dollars WHEN YOU DO NOT HONOR YOUR RESERVATIONS!!! Shame on you.

Book a rental in April for June in Fairbanks only to get to Fairbanks and be told sorry doesnt matter. DO NOT USE THEM. What a joke. I booked early because I know its busy in the summer. I even paid for it now have to work on getting money back

Had a confirmed reservation made more than a month in advance, charged to my credit card, and when I arrived, they had closed early and put a sign out front saying they were out of cars. They had just sent me an email and text confirming my reservation that day. Tried to rent from competitors who wanted $400 more than I had already been charged by Budget. Literally left a bunch of people stranded and didnt bother calling anyone to alert them to the problem, and certainly didnt try to help them obtain cars with another vendor. I cant think of a worse thing to do to loyal customers. Ive had good experiences renting from this location at least 3 other times this year, but this experience means I probably wont rent from Budget ever again.

I have recently rented several times from this location and have had a fantastic experience each time. Especially Angel, who was working the counter. She was very friendly and accommodating. Excellent customer service! Very short walk to the cars from the terminal building. Ill be sure to rent from Budget again on my next trip to Fairbanks!

I had booked a reservation in advance and as there was heavy snowfall we went for a mid size suv. Upon arrival they decided they couldnt rent that vehicle to us as we are not 25, and their cars they could rent us were all snowed in. This lead to a wild goose chase in us trying to find another place to rent us a car last minute and we ended up having to catch a taxi and pay near $100 / day for a Ford Fiesta at another rental place. I am very disappointed in them as this costed me and extra $200 for a less capable car and an extra couple hours because no one had the courtesy of checking all this information before hand and giving us time to change plans. Budget has lost a customer over this.

Incredibly rude desk lady claimed to be the manager and wouldnt let me speak to one. I had a car reserved for noon I called to ask to change that to 10. All good. They only take credit and Im renting for a week so my limit isnt that high. Said I would bring my mom have her pay and give her cash back. This lady all of a sudden says they have no car available and wouldnt put me on the phone with anyone less hostile.

I took my wife on a once in a lifetime vacation here to Alaska to see the northern lights. We had the car for one day. When we hopped in to catch the lights last night, the car wont start. Lights come on, starter just clicks. After several calls back and forth, they finally agree to pay for the tow. (After asking us to find someone to jump us, then considering making us pay for the tow.) We then had to find our own ride back to the airport to get another car. Compensation? One day discounted off our total. Great, considering we missed the lights with no chance of seeing them again while here, and missed our plans for the next morning due to waiting for someone to come get the car, only to be told the car previously had issues and then put us in the same type of car claiming they didn’t have more. (Though there’s several in the parking lot). A $35 refund and a promise not to charge us to fill the car back up (thanks, considering we cant fill it up anyways), is all we get for a ruined trip. Worst. Experience. Ever.

Vevesi and Crystal totally saved me. I had booked a car with Alamo on Priceline and when I came to pick it up they said they were out of cars. They overheard and got me a better car at the same price which was an incredible deal. It was hands down the easiest car rental experience Ive ever had and they were so kind, like everyone in Fairbanks! Thanks!

I came in on the midnight flight and the staff left a note on the counter apologizing that they did not have any cars. I was able to pick one up in the morning. The manager and staff explained the AFN conference that is going on. I appreciate their honesty. I appreciate that they were able to get a vehicle for me. I will be coming back to Alaska soon and I will definitely rent with Budget. Other counters need friendly staff like the ladies at Budget! I went down the line and asked if they can price. Other counters wanted to charge $145 a day. Ridiculous!What more can the ladies at Budget Do when they are out of vehicles? Fairbanks Budget needs more vehicles. They had a long line when I came back that morning to pick up a car. They are doing something right if they are out of vehicles and have long lines.Keep up the great job Fairbanks ladies

The service here is so bad that you cant imagine it. I have to give one star because there is no zero star choice. Yesterday was Thanksgiving night, so they close at 8pm. I was returned the car at 7:30pm. When I back to hotel, I found maybe I left something in the car. But they already closed, so I made phone call this morning 6:30am to ask about this situation. I want to make sure that the car I was used yesterday was in the parking lot, so I made phone call once the business hour start(6:30am). The person on the phone told me they will check it out and call me back. BUT I DIDN’T GOT ANY FEEDBACK UNTIL 1PM!!! So I call they again to ask about my stuff, then they told me THAT CAR IS ON RENTAL!!! They can only check the car on Sunday. What exactly did you do this morning? I cant understand. If so, whats the point of my phone call in this morning? The parking lot just 3mins away from the office!!! I really dont understand how difficult it is to check the vehicle in the parking lot. I hope I can get my stuff back!

I was in Alaska working the many wildland fires in the state this year. Pick-up was quick and easy from the counter when I arrived. I ended up staying a week longer than my reservation and it was a quick and easy phone call to extend my rental. The best part was after I returned the car. It was before the counter was open and I was unable to change the charges from my personal credit card to my fire department debt card. When I called to make the changes I was greeted by Sierra. She was very polite and professional and quickly made the change for me.

I was in a bind when I arrived at FAI. I had rented a car from another agency, and they messed up my rental. The ladies at Budget Car Rental went out of their way to help me. They were wonderful! They gave me an excellent rental, they explained everything about plugging up the heaters, and Budget has my business from now on. Kudos to their employees!

I feel this staff working at Budget Rental Cars Fairbanks INTL airport in Alaska is very unprofessional. When I called the airport pending my destination to Fairbanks I sensed a little bit of unprofessionalism on that call. When I finally got to Fairbanks, it was evident that these people dont have a clue of what true customer service is. This staff from management down to the newest person at the airport is clueless. DO BETTER, BE BETTER! I give them a thumbs down and dont recommend BUDGET at this location at all.

If you have to deal with Crystal you might as well wait for the next person on shift. I had a question about the charges and she told me she was going to go ahead and run the card then figure that out after. I was charged $40 extra for picking up the car 15 minutes early. Instead of telling me ahead of time she took it upon herself to make the charge anyway. Budget hires incompetent and dishonest people and will do nothing to help you resolve the issue after. Use the other rental companies with better reputations.

We rented a suv from Hertz ahead of time. Once we arrived at the airport we learned that Hertz didn’t have a suv for us. So I had to find another suv for us and after being on two flights and 12 hours later we were exhausted and just wanted to get to our cabin. Budget staff, Sydney and Vesi were so helpful and found a suv for our party of 6. They were willing to price match and we were in our suv within 10 minutes. A a big Thank you to Sydney and Vesi.

Sierra and the rest of the staff were very accommodating and friendly. She made us feel like it was home because of her welcoming demeanor. On top of that budget car rentals ensured that the vehicle we were using were in tiptop condition and was surely safe to use plus they were very transparent and simple with the terms and conditions. Prices were so affordable. We would highly recommend Fairbanks budget car rentals for everyone’s future Alaska roadtrips!:)

I was in a bit of a rush and dropped a five dollar bill. While I was renting with a competitor a wonderful woman at Budget caught me at the counter and returned my money as I wouldnt have realized I dropped it. Absolutely do not rent a car from these crooks! Do yourself a favor and rent from someone who is not u fed the Avis unbrella. This company will be adding insane charges to your credit card for weeks after you return the rental. Add to that the fact that the Check engine light, maintenance light, and oil change required light was on in the vehicle the entire time we had it and there was a big chip on the hood- fortunately I saw that or I’m sure they would have tried to charge me. I’ve rented a lot of cars through my years and have never dealt with such an unprofessional agency in my life! I did not want to give them 1 star but it won’t let me give less

The worst customer service Ive ever received and I travel frequently. I paid for my rental online, fully paid, and once I got to the counter inwas told I would need to pay additional money as well as a $200 down payment even though I had flight itineraries. I asked to speak to a manager because I had a confirmation number to show I had paid in full only to be told the manager was out until Monday and if i couldnt afford them, I was welcome to go down to Enterprise or Nation. I did. They accommodated me with a $4 down payment and an $18 car- much cheaper than Budget. Im calling in the morning to raise hell. This is not how you retain customers.

Very poor service. Booked a full size pick up and they tried to give me small Subaru for the same price. Robin was extremely rude and refused to fix the issue. I tried to call the 800 number to get a manger on the line since there was not one available onsite. Robin called over the airport police because she wanted to refuse service to me because I was calling the manager in reservations.

Budget at Fairbanks International Airport charged additional fees without any reason or my authorization! I returned the car in perfect condition and Budget employee acknowledged that everything is good with the return. Later I got additional charges on my credit card... There was a mistake on their side and after 2 calls to the office the issue was resolved.

If I could give ten stars I would. Evie was AMAZING! I came in without a reservation after a car accident, and she not only set me up with a car on the spot, she also helped me take advantage of the USAA coupons. THEN, when I returned the car, she worked it out with her manager so I could return it to a closed location across town so that I would be closer to Enterprise Rental, where I was picking up my new rental car. Wonderful customer service!

I had a good experience with this budget rent a car, but the staff needs to explain things better for out of towners. For example I was the one who had to ask them questions about plugging the car when it gets below freezing outside and what roads I was allowed to drive on. They did not tell me this....seems like you have to ask them. If I did not ask them this they would have never told me these things I needed to know. The staff needs to explain everything to the customer because most people that come here never drove in alaska and we do not know the rules of driving here. So make sure you get them to explain to you everything so you can avoid problems on the road during your trip here. Beware when driving the roafs and avoid snow banks and roads with snow not plowed or you might get stuck and need a tow truck which you might have to pay out of pocket. Drive in low snow or plowed roads and avoid the roads the budget staff tells you to avoid. Also plug on the car when temp goes below negative 10. Have fun!

I came in on the late flight and that’s the time Budget closes. I called a few days ahead and spoke to a CSR and she guaranteed someone would stay for that flight. When I arrived no one was there. Another company said,”They left early.” I was very disappointed because my wife & I had to take an Uber. That morning I called and ask to speak to the manager Vesi. She told us to come in and she will take care of us. Vesi and her morning staff took care of my wife & I. The way Vesi handled the my situation was professional! She is a very kind person from when I spoke to her on the phone and was the same way when I came in to rent the vehicle. The staff here is amazing and it shows that they will go out of their way to help someone.If I come back to visit Alaska I will definitely rent with Budget.

We had a really good experience with the staff of Budget. Initially we had booked a 4 WD and when we got to the airport they gave us a minivan. Driving in Alaska with snow/ice in a minivan is not safe at all. They told us that we could call back in a few days and if they had a 4 WD SUV available we could swap it. They did have one and the swap process was very smooth and problem-free. The supervisor also worked with us when our flight was delayed and did not charge us for an extra day. Good customer service. We would choose Budget again.

We picked up the car at Fairbanks airport, was told theres an additional $0.25 per mile charge, we confirmed at the counter this will only be applied the miles between the pick up and drop off location, which is the distance between two ariports. But when we returned the car they chagred every signle mile we drove!!! It dobled the charge of the online booking price. And when I call budget customer service, I was told Faribanks ariport is a licensed location... so they couldnt help! Completely disappointed!!! Bad service!!!

We just ended our trip on 29 Dec, and we rent a ford sedan car from Budget on 28 Dec, everything is work fine, we book online, and received their rental agreement, everything write there, 1 day is $ 50+, but today, when we check our bank account, we found out that, they deduct a $ 70+ with no reason! This is totally different amount with what we saw in the invoice/online booking and rental agreement.We tried to call the customer services, they push us away to call another hotline, ok fine, then we called, but another hotline say, they dont have any reference number in our rental agreement??!! WTH???!! the rental agreement is printed by Budget Fairbanks international airport, and now you told me, all the reference number in the rental agreement is all not by yours? And you told us to call back the first number that we call just now!! Alright, then we call back again, and the girl say she cant help us anything, and told us to call back the second number again and again! Basically, they just keep pushing to each other, and forever no one can answer you.We told the girl that we want to speak with the manager, and she hang up our call, very rude, and for us, a customer, who get deducted the amount that more than what we suppose to pay for.Again, if that car worth $ 70+ per day, i will seriously go for Hertz, all those branded car rental, and not YOU, BUDGET.

Budget is filing false claims that we have scuffed the bumper of one of their cars. This is provably untrue. The Fairbanks branch is a scam. On 12/24/2015 my wife and I rented an SUV from the Budget rental office at the airport in Fairbanks, Alaska for our vacation. At first everything seemed okay- the people at the front desk were slightly rude and short but we were able to get the car and go (they threatened to charge us if they had to help us to start the car due to ice and snow- which made no sense. Arent call outs usually included?). The woman at the desk specifically asked us to get a gasoline receipt when we returned the car to the rental counter and warned us that if their extension cord was missing then there would be a $25 charge for it. She was the manager and very short with us and extremely rude. When she left her assistant said if the extension cord gets stolen you can pick one up retail for $5 at the local Walmart. This should have been the first sign that we were headed for a con. The second sign came when they asked us to take a look at the car but ignore tiny scratches or scuffs. Heres the thing- when we arrived in Fairbanks there was a foot of snow on the ground and the temperature was at -20F. There was no way to SEE the bumper as EVERYTHING at the time was covered in snow...so we cleared the snow that we could from the car and left. We returned the car on 12/30/2015. In that entire time we never came close to anything else in the road (northern Alaska is a fairly empty place). We pulled in for gasoline en route back to the airport and, as promised, I completely filled up the tank before returning it. As soon as we arrived at the airport to drop the car off the manager lady was there and obviously feeling very rude. Looking at the gasoline receipt I brought her she said I know this gas station. Its, like, 10 miles away. You need to fill it up to replace that 10 miles. I responded, sensibly (in my opinion) that the indicator still showed full and that, as there was no traffic in our ride over (of course) there was no way that I had burned significant gasoline between the gas station and the airport. She responded by telling me that she would have her people fill up the car at $10 a gallon if that was the way that I felt- a clear threat. I shrugged and agreed to take the keys back from her, drove to another (closer) gas station and filled up the tank.... ...with ONE DOLLAR worth of gas. So she basically wasted our time when we had to catch a flight. At this point it should have been clear that this was a con. The second negative sign we received was when we returned to Los Angeles to receive a call that someone at Budget had found scuff marks on the bumper of the car and that they would have to charge us for these scuff marks because it looked like we had hit something. Please allow me to be clear about this: My wife and I never TOUCHED anything with that car. There were NO scuff marks when we left it. At this point, between the gasoline, the extension cord threats, and the false scuff marks report it is looking more and more like Budget Rental car of Fairbanks is playing a con game to squeeze money out of people in the winter months. There was snow covering the bumper (and most things) when we took the car out. We never hit anything (again- there is almost NOTHING to hit in northern Alaska in the winter except Moose...and had we hit a moose it would not be a scuff mark on the bumper).

Researved 5 vehicles a month in advance for a business trip. When my clients arrived not only were 26 people stranded without ANY of the five vehicles they were told that this Budget location “is not Budget and doesn’t work with corporate and we booked through corporate” Even standing there with 5 printed out confirmation sheets from booking through the 1-800 number they got no where and were turned away and were not given any vehicles. I called the 1-800 number and they told me that they always have this problem at this location (it would have been nice to know that when I booked). Mikayla at the counter was extremely rude and unprofessional and just kept saying over and over “we are not Budget”. If that’s the case maybe they should take down their big Orange sign and change their name. Now we have 26 people stranded with no vehicles.

Vehicle booked online with insurance and on the spot you wanted to sell my father once again an insurance, although he said no and showed the online reservation documents where explicitly WITH insurance you did not accept this. Either he should buy their additional insurance or he does not get a rental car. Would have been 3 times as expensive as online booking. Pure rip-off, managers inflexible and employees unfriendly and untrustworthy
