Thought it would be impossible to come to an agreement with my spouse, but Julie made it happen. She explained everything to us and was totally neutral, didn’t take sides. This is the best way to do a divorce if you and your spouse generally get along. It saved us an insane amount of money and time in comparison to my friends who are using lawyers for their divorces. It also helped my ex partner and I get off to a good start with our coparenting relationship, since there wasn’t a lot of fighting. I had a mixed experience with Mediation Northwest. We had a few issues during our mediation:1) There was an error on their equalization spreadsheet that made a huge difference in our decision to sell our house or equalize in other ways. This error caused the single largest fight Ive ever had with my ex, because we simply could not figure out why we werent able to figure out a fair solution using her spreadsheet. I found this error and reported it to her, and she denied that the error had been there during our initial conversation (which I know for certain is not the case). She never admitted that she was wrong about it being wrong during our first meeting, and we werent offered any compensation/reduction in fees for this error and I really believe we should have, especially since my discovery of her error probably saved her a lot of trouble with other clients. I spent HOURS on this spreadsheet, trying to make it work, only to discover I had been wasting my time because they didnt do QA on their spreadsheet after making changes to it.2) She stipulated that we should write in the agreement to not introduce new partners to the kids within the first year after the divorce. I spoke with another family lawyer about this and he told me that this isnt something that a judge would enforce if we took the divorce to court. I agreed to it because she had already convinced my ex that this was necessary and he was adamant about it because she pushed it so hard, but Im wishing I hadnt. Im all for being thoughtful about who we introduce to the kids, but this isnt something that the court needs to be or should be involved in.So Im divorced, and they did help get that done. Thats why they get 2 stars. But if I ever have to go through this process again I will not be considering this firm.*10/16/20 Updated from 2 stars to 1 star based on emails Ive received from Julie after posting this review. She wanted me to remove the review, and started off by complimenting me and saying she thought we could be friends if we lived closer to each other. However, she quickly showed her true colors when I didnt immediately delete the review. While she did admit the mistake that she made (partially - she still wont admit that the mistake was there during our session) and apologized, she then accused me of blackmail and attacked my character when I asked that she refund me for the wasted session mentioned above in item 1. Shes willing to apologize in word, but not in deed. My initial review stands, but is now reduced from 2 to 1 star because of the subsequent harassment Ive had to deal with.

The mediation was straight to the point, and extremely fair. Accurate accounting for the truth is critical in mediation, any and all questions I had were answered via the law. Knowing where I stood legally stand with disagreements and why lifted a very heavy weight off of me. Thank you for what you do.

Dont go through this mediator if youre getting divorced, especially if youre the primary breadwinner in your home. Shell enable and support the half that made the worst financial decisions. Shes overpriced and underskilled and relies on antiquated case law. In the end, youll pay her too much and wish you had just retained an attorney to represent you and not Julie to represent your future ex.
