Very Friendly staff. I suppose its actually a positive thing that there were not as many dogs to choose from to adopt than I was expecting. The dog kennel areas were clean and fairly large which was good to see. I would recommend visiting this location if youre thinking about finding a rescue. They also had a very good variety of cats to choose from.

I pulled a wretched little thing of a dog off the street of TJs north zone. It had more ticks then all the Tourette YouTubers combined. It was as disgusting as it was sad. So I took the dog knowing I was going to be taking it to the Humane Society. The dog had issues needless to when I brought the dog in they held it handle it with care and reassured me that they werent going to kill it but theyre going to find it at home. Cant tell you how good that makes me feel knowing they werent just going to off it if they couldnt find a home right away Humane Society doesnt get much better than that

I brought in a cat that could have either been lost or a stray. I told them that we were looking for an owner and that we would keep that cat of we couldnt find his owner. They told us they snip the ear of cats to indicate they are fixed. Never in a million years did I think snipping the tip of the ear meant chopping off half of it. How am I supposed to tell his possible owner that I took him to a place that chopped off his ear? I told them I wanted updates while he was there. I got no calls until he was ready to be picked up. When I do pick him up you tell me he was previously fixed and you still cut off his half his ear. I would understand why it would need to be so much if the cat was definitely a stray. But I had explained multiple times that we are looking for a possible owner! Also the cut is jagged, it looked like the vet didnt even care about this cat because to them it was just another stray. I fully understand that this is partly my fault, because I was naive and did not understand how much of his ear would be removed. But I feel like I put my ultimate trust in this place and was let down. Please be more transparent with people about this surgery. There are plenty of people who are just as naive as me when it comes to this subject and we need more explanation. I will give two stars because the staff was friendly and they did all of the check up for free, which is very helpful in these situations I just wish I knew exactly what I was getting into before leaving the cat in their hands. I am leaving this review for people like me to read and maybe they can ask the staff more questions about it than I did.

They only list the # for the call center. When the call center transfers me to the Escondido Campus, no one picks up. The call center wont give me the direct number. I dont expect theyll return my message. I hate to take an animal for euthanasia without giving a heads up.*Follow up reviewFor euthanasia, they cant allow you to be present. You will have to go to a vet if you want to be there until the very end. Calling around nearby I found prices between $300-$115. Here it was $40 + $10 for communal cremation. Its not about being cheap - for many of us on low incomes this is a reality.Despite the negatives mentioned, I changed this to a positive review because the staff here is compassionate and found a way to accommodate me as much as possible within what could be allowed. These are good people doing a good thing.

Is this place a joke? First you have to sit through 2+ minutes of COVID-19 hysteria before you can even get to the menu prompt, then I tried selecting the option for the receptionist (4) which goes to a voicemail box that has not been setup yet - so I tried calling back again, sitting through the entire prompt again on COVID-19 to get their on-call officer, which then just cuts you off as a disconnect. Ive got a tiny 3 week old kitten that we found thats in critical condition and Im just trying to get some advice on what to do and nobody can even bother answering the phone. By the way, Im calling at 10AM on a Friday, so its not like this is an after-hours emergency or anything either. Great humane society. F-

I’ve had a long bumpy road with my dog. He was amazing with my kids but he was so aggressive with everything else. Nothing could come in the yard, he couldn’t leave the yard and he had killed other family pets. This past weekend he attacked our newer kitten in front of the kids and I finally lost hope. We brought him in to be put down it was a super stressful and emotional situation for the kids and I. It was pouring rain, I made the mistake of parking by a car that also had a dog in it the kids were crying about the dog. Finally we made it in, the staff was amazing , so helpful! They helped calm the kids they helped muzzle my dog they walked us in and sat us in a room to say our goodbyes. I explained my kids didn’t know and they staff was so helpful about keeping it from them. We spent our last moments with our good boy and things went smooth. The girls were so kind and understanding. Before going in I had called in, thanks so much to Molly I poured my whole heart out and she listened and was such a sweetheart. I appreciate them so much for making such a hard time in our life go so smooth.

Staff and volunteers were kind and knowledgeable on both the adoption, vet and surrender side. The animals (domesticated, farm and unique) appeared well cared for. The adoption cost ranged from $25 to over 125 ( kind of pricey), I was told it was for general upkeep of facility, animal food, care, community aid and rescue services.

We had a very positive experience going through an adoption process here. The three counselors took as much time as needed until they felt comfortable with human and dog interactions. As we came with 2 dogs that needed introductions, the dogs met individually then spent time as a group playing. The staff cares deeply that the animals find loving forever homes. We consider each pet we adopt a blessing in our lives.

Called them on a neglect dog. When it was all said and done. The dog was put down. The dog was so bad neglect it had to be killed. The owner nothing happened to her. She went and got another dog. So what is the point of calling on a neglect dog if nothing happens to the owner. I talked to the inspector of the case. My thing is if you have to kill the dog. Because of the neglect do something to the owner! A fine or jail time. Just do something it is better than doing nothing. So I can see the point of report neglect to dogs

Staff was mostly very friendly. They were patient and took a lot of time introducing various potential playmates to our dog, Ross. They were knowledgeable and gave good advice. After about an hour and six different dogs, we ended up with an awesome little Chihuahua who is an absolute sweetheart. Turns out he was potty pad trained and that made life a million times easier for me! They sent us off with food and flea treatment. The only negative was that the chihuahua wasnt bathed and really needed to be. That and one staff tried to convince us to go to another shelter and look for a dog there as the new pup seemed indifferent to our dog. But all in all, place seems clean and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely drive from east county to adopt there again.

They have only a few collars and leashes to choose from so bring a collar and leash &/or crate to the adoption; if not CHECK OUT THEIR FREE COLLAR BOX before purchasing one there. The harness was $2, Ill give them that. Overall, it was a happy, quick, hassle free adoption :) just FYI all animals are spayed/neutered before going up for adoption.

Absolutely thankful for my two dogs being found and held at this location. It was clean and staff weren’t as friendly as I hoped but maybe it was because the power had gone out and they had no computers for the time being. They refused to give me back my dogs until I was able to pay for them being held for the day ($100 each!!) but told me I had to come back to pick them up once the power was back in service so payment could be made. Thankfully it came back up about 30 mins later and I was able to take them home. My dogs were considered to be “aggressive” and were placed in separate but very clean cages with toys. I could tell by the look on the staff’s face that they do not take kindly to pets that aren’t 100% happy go lucky - which only one of mine is.My overall experience with them i’d rate as a 7/10 only because I know they’re probably used to seeing animals everyday and have become desensitized to certain aspects and I totally understand that. Reoccurring training of the staff in regards to customer service would greatly help to improve this. Also, I know there probably isn’t anything that can be done about the pricing, but maybe in instances like the power outage/divine intervention, dismissal of the fee or maybe an invoice sent to their home address?? as telling your “customer” they cannot have their pet back until the problem resolves itself is not the solution.
