The boat ride was beautiful great entertainment and service was great! But seriously the food was not worth it! Pork was tuff and tasteless and the chicken was small and fatty. The helpings were very small of all the side dishes. We went home hungry! For $42.00 a person we should be getting a really good meal. I see from other reviews they are all saying the same thing if you want to make this a PERFECT night figure out this food thing it’s really not that hard!

The water is pretty. Ill give that to them. The boat itself is a total disgrace, however. Its very dirty, has dust hanging from the ceiling, and peeling paint everywhere. If you are into wildlife tours you are in for a treat, though, because live spiders are absolutely everywhere. The music choice is terrible and not family friendly at all. A couple of the crew members were very nice and the others spent the whole tour in the wheel house with the captain. There was no explanation of what we were passing on the boat either. They have a lot of potential and with a cleaning crew, better decor, different music, and an interactive explanation of the views this could be a great experience. The bathrooms were very nice so that was a plus. I just wouldnt recommend it as it is.

My wife and I really enjoyed this experience. We did the sunset dinner cruise. The food was okay, but nothing overly exciting. The views and everything else were great. The staff was very friendly. There was live music on the top deck which helped set a relaxing mood for the 2 hour trip. We would definitely recommend this! Just dont set your bar too high for the food.

I was disappointed. The ride is for two hours and the have a little entertainment at the beginning, some games and some comedy but it was very boring. They did not guide through the tour neither explained the history of the lake and how the port was created. The food was the worst part. Our table was called around 8:30 and the ride was over at 9:00. The quality of the meal was very poor. We paid almost $200.00 and it was such waste of money. This could be a really good entertainment if they get a better organization strategy. I wouldnt recommen it for dinner but only for sightseeing. One the employees was really nice with us, that was the only good thing.

We did the moonlight Cruise 8/14/20 and August last year. Last year it left 1 hour late. This year it didn’t leave at all because of the wind. Their website says it leaves at 10 o’clock and boards at 9:30 both times it didn’t board till 10 o’clock. If the boat is not going to leave the dock you should tell your passengers instead of waiting it out and refund their money.

By far THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!We were in town for my mother in laws birthday.I called and made a reservation the day before…..nothing was EVER mentioned on the phone that in case of cancellation we would receive a gift card. ((Had I known this in advance I never would have book the tour)) due to the weather our trip got cancelled and our $300 reservation was sent to us in the form of a gift certificate. I called and the lady I talked to was very unpleasant. But in the end asked me to send an email and that she would see what she could do in order to get us a refund. I sent the email and we never heard anything back.Husband called this morning and was told that I was never told that. EVEN THOUGH the lady was on speaker phone and he was able to hear the entire conversation! The lady on the phone hung up on him! So my husband sent a message and the response was a thumbs up! Really? A thumbs up!?!?If you go I surely hope you’re not from out of the area and your trip gets cancelled. Because all you will get is a gift card that you will probably never use AND a thumbs up. 👍

Mothers day disappointmentWe started our adventure arriving 30 minutes prior as suggested.  At 15 minutes prior when we were told we would board, still nothing.  It was right around departure time we were allowed in.  Immediately, we noticed the hair and debris between the table linen and the acrylic table topper.  Gross.  Grossness on the salt and pepper shakers, a calamity of deceased bugs in the window frame and what was left of a squished spider on the inside of the window right next to where I was seated.  The menu was slightly deceptive to say the least.  Poached salmon with Cucumber Dill Salsa, Virginia Chutney, Basil Cream Sauce was definitely salmon and definitely had dill on it.  Brown Sugar Glazed Ham with Jezebel Sauce, Sweet Pineapple Stuffing was actually hot dry ham and no stuffing.  French Toast Bread Pudding with Maple Syrup turned out to be French Toast Sticks straight from the freezer case at your local Walmart.  Crisp Bacon was limp (only from what I saw, as by the time we were told we could go up, there was none left and no more ever came).  Fresh Fruit Salad with Yogurt and Granola was missing yogurt and granola.  Chinese Ginger Slaw, Caramel Apple Salad was nowhere to be seen.  Pastries were all store bought.  Asked for Pepsi for my drink.  Got 1 and wanted a second. Asked for a refill and was told there was an extra charge for another later in the meal. The coffee I received was slightly warmer than the water the boat was traveling on.  At one point, one of the servers came by and picked up a cutlery wrap that was on the floor (possibly from our table) and put it on our table instead of discarding it in the garbage 4 feet from her.  Lastly, we received a front row show of a window falling out of its frame and clocking a child in the head.  The staff was friendly enough but this trip was a disappointment.  For 2 adults and 1 child, I would have rather found another way to spend $120 on my wife for Mothers Day.

I went on the Cinco De Mayo Cruise, this was by far the worst experience of my life. The boat is extremely out dated and completely disgusting. The staff is very young and not trained well. The only person that saved the night was the nice bartender. The Taco Bar was not as good as I hoped. Overall while the view was gorgeous, the water was rough and with the young staff, I was not comfortable leaving the dock. Very disappointed and wouldnt go again.

Nice cruise but these people seriously need to fact check the things they tell people. Our tour guide Captain Mike told us that Kennywood and Waldameer are the two oldest amusement parks in the United States. That didnt sound even remotely correct to me, so I googled it and found that not only are they not even among the top 10 oldest in the country, theyre not even the oldest in the state. (The oldest amusement park in the U.S. is Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT, which opened it 1846. Waldameer opened in 1896 and Kennywood in 1899.)He also informed the group as we watched a great blue heron pass overhead that great blue herons are not native to Erie, but that Erie is a flyway so they stop over for a visit. While it is true that Erie county is along the Atlantic Flyway, it is home to great blue herons year-round. Every credible range map of the species will confirm this.At the halfway point in the cruise, when it was time to turn back, he announced that we were going to make a 360 degree turn. A 360 degree turn? As in, all the way around in a circle? He meant 180, and sure, maybe he simply misspoke, but come on.He also told us that Erie is special because unlike other places, its still light after sunset. Im sorry, but what? Nowhere in the country does it get immediately dark after sunset. Yes, it stays light for longer the further north you go, but the concept of twilight is not unique to the Great Lakes.Overall it was a nice hour out on the water but the amount of misinformation was glaring. I realize nobodys perfect and Ive been wrong on a lot of things in my life, but it doesnt take a lot of time to research these things. Also, the road that runs along the shore is called the Bayfront Parkway, not the Bayfront Highway. Maybe this is a local thing that I dont understand, but this was the first time Id ever heard it called that.Google is your friend, guys.Update: Yes, we were on this cruise. It was the 4 p.m. tour on Saturday June 5th. We sat in back corner of the top deck. Perhaps I heard the captains name wrong, but everything else he said was clear as day.

Victorian Princess Cruise Line provided decent food with a nice little tour of one of the bays that leads into Lake Erie. The view was quite beautiful and the passage itself was smooth making it easy to walk about the ship getting our meal and using the bathroom (you can also mingle on the outer deck, though space is quite limited)- basic essentials to a good cruise were met. And another one - friendly and accommodating hosts/hostesses and waitresses - also present and appreciated on this cruise. The liner looks a bit beat up and drab but, hey, the little cruiser has been around awhile, apparently - thats okay. All in all the families in this little mini-vacation to Lake Erie had a good time. And VPCL helped make it that much more enjoyable! 🙂Thank you VPCL!!

Fine way to spend an evening - but wouldnt do it again.....I started this review out marked as four stars, but after reading everything Ive typed, it unequivocally got bumped down to a three. We were a party of four (two couples) who all received gift certificates to experience the Victorian Princess sunset dinner cruise. I excitedly approached the ticket window to check in, and was greeted by someone who could likely be dubbed she who hates her job the most in Erie County. I brushed off her mannerisms, as I knew I would never have to talk to her again.Online it says to arrive between 15-30 minutes prior to boarding (6:30). We arrived at 6:00 sharp, and boarding did not begin until about 6:45. Again, shrugged it off as we were visiting and taking in the scenery anyway.Once aboard, we chose to sit on the second floor. Everyone was seated and the boat was beginning to move away from the dock and the captain began talking. I cannot tell you what he was saying, as the speakers were so shot no one on our deck understood what was said. We heard something about life-jackets..... so, that kind of stunk. Glad we didnt need to use that information! When the waitress came to our table (about 20 minutes later) to get our drink order, we asked her what the captain had said, and if we needed to know anything about when to go downstairs to get the buffet dinner. (Ill discuss more on the food later). She responded very hastily when I release you to go get food, you go get it. Well, while that was mildly helpful about the food aspect......we still never found out about life vests or any other of the captains potentially wise words. When food was finally served, we all went downstairs to the chaos that ensued. There was a line strung to the other end of the cabin, there was no salad, no silverware, the staff was scolding one another like school-children directly in front of the guests. One guest went to tell (again, our waitress) that they grabbed the last of the silverware and she snapped back at them that she was aware and going to get more.Dinner was a bean medley, potatoes, pasta, stuffed chicken breast, and some sort of beef dish. As a vegetarian, I was pleased with three options of food to eat; however, the serving sizes were laughable. Literally. The family in front of me was cracking up. We were served 10 beans (a small spoonful). When the family asked for a second spoonful for their daughter, they got one more bean. One.more.bean! You got four halves of tiny red potatoes, and possibly 1/3 of a cup of pasta. The chicken breast looked good, but the beef looked very unappetizing. (I truly cant even tell you what kind of beef it was or what it was supposed to be). The others in my party had both and said they were good though. Dessert was good. A 1 square piece of a layered peanut butter fudge brownie.Moral of the food story: it was fine. It was your basic buffet-wedding food/basic catering food. Tasted good, but serving sizes were so small we ended up grabbing snacks on the 90 minute drive home.As far as the ships review: the third deck was awesome. Windy, but beautiful views. Unfortunately, the way the ship loops, you almost completely miss the sunset because it is tucked behind the trees of PISP for most of it.Note what others have said before: this is JUST a scenic tour. There is NO narration. That was kind of sad because, luckily, we were sitting with a couple that was from Erie - so they were able to point out what all of the cool buildings were (like the gorgeous water works building!), as well as pointing out where we were in the bay and regards to PISP. Without them, it would have been a really boring ride.Im glad we had the experience - and happier it was from gift certificates. The food was good and the Lake Erie sunset was beautiful, but we would definitely not spend our money to return to another Victorian Princess cruise.

Our party of four was sadly disappointed in our dinner cruise. It started off with us having to return to the dock after ten minutes to pick up the forgotten eating utensils. While we returned, and since dinner was going to be delayed, we were handed a roll and butter...which we had no way to spread. Next was a container of pasta salad that included two small slivers of black olive and three pieces of onion. Our dinner was a tangle of gloppy chicken, ribs, potatoes and corn on the cob. A member of our group found a hair in her meal causing us to feel leery about our own dinners. My corn on the cob was chewy and tasted old. The ribs tasted ok, but I passed on the rest of the meal. We will not be returning and will warn others to stay away from this sinking ship.

I have never been more outraged visiting a business. I am 38 years old, and I have never given a business a negative online rating. It’s tough working with the public, and I usually empathize and chalk bad experiences up to “it is what it is...”. That said- my family visited the Victorian Princess last night 7/3/2020. They did not adhere to much of what the CDC and PA Department of Health recommend or require to prevent spread of COVID-19. No hand soap in men’s room, social distancing not enforced in inside dining room (instead of every other table it was every table seated), mask wearing not enforced inside or out, etc. I took pictures all over if the company cares to detract from my account. Id love to hear from whoever is in charge as I was not going to take out my displeasure in the poor servers, bartenders, etc just trying to do their jobs. Whoever manages or owns this business- I have reported all this to the PA Department of Health. I hope my 69 year old diabetic mother or my 59 year old uncle, both who anticipated health guidelines would be in place when they got us these tickets, do NOT contract COVID-19.

I was not ever aboard the Victorian princess but being a member of the public while down at the dock was enough experience for me with what the morale of being on it may be like. My husband and I were sitting near where it would be docked at for quite some time minding our business and having a nice quiet take out dinner. Opposite of where we were sitting there was some type of booth (more than likely the ticket booth) where there were 2 staff talking the whole time while we were eating. About half an hour into our meal a van pulls up in which some type of staff member hopped out with relish trays in her hands as well as bags (more than likely getting ready for a private party). Her and one of the women from the booth came to her aide to help carry some of the belongings from her van. Quickly they both looked at us with glares on their faces while sighing at the same time. They then briskly walked around the booth and the woman that pulled up in the van then said, I dont care if we have to walk around, we got this! I then realized how unprofessional and immature she was being once the remark was made. My husband and I are good people and Im sure if you would have opened your mouth and communicated that you needed the spot we were sitting in we would have surely moved. Instead you copped an attitude and said an unnecessary comment that was only said to start a conflict. The other side of the booth was closet to the Victorian anyway to where they walked around to. So wouldnt it make more sense anyways to put the items there as far as making less work for themselves? And if you needed that space may be the women working in the booth could have spoke up beforehand and communicated to us that there would be a vehicle pulling up soon and they would appreciate it if we made room for them. And since you werent mature enough to use your words I ended up being the bigger person by picking up on your nonverbal and verbal cues by picking up our belongings and leaving the area because your comment was heard far and wide. Always felt there was a reason I never got on the Victorian Princess and this unnecessary attitude just confirms why.
