Order a kit of drum sticks from this store. Received a notification about my order. That was back on September 10, 2021. Have not heard from them at all. No texts, emails, nothing. I called them on September 26, only to find out that my order was back ordered and date of arrival is unclear. Seemed like it was a common practice for them. No apologies. They did not think that they needed to inform their customers that they don’t have the item. Horrible customer service and business.

Went to get violin strings replaced today. After waiting long (we got there at 11 and there were quite a few people already) Micahel said it would be ready in an hour. After two hours, we called to check if the violin was ready, and he said check back later. We went back at 6:30 pm, after 7 hours, nothing has been done. He pulled out the violin and started working on it. He gave us a pity few dollars discount for our waiting.There might be good business with bigger receipts going on today. However, it was very unprofessional for Michael to be treating a customer like this. Very disappointed.

The staff at this location are amazing. They are so knowledgeable and friendly. You can tell the staff are musicians and love music. Very inspiring for budding musicians!

After 8 hours of waiting for strings replacement, we found out that it has not been even tuned. $70 for all that. What a business. I would give zero star if I could.

This evening my husband bought a violin off Craigslist and we took it in while running errands because we happened to be in the shopping center. The three people in the store were so helpful! We thought we needed to get it restrung and they told us that wasn’t necessary, which saved us time and money. They tuned it for us, gave us advice on how to get started, showed us how to put rosin on the bow, and helped us pick out a good book to learn with.

The manager, Mr. Michael at the Ellicott city location was very very helpful in setting up the focus rite instrument for our laptop. We appreciate his help and patience with us!

The phone rang for far too long and then a young man finally answered and rudely asked if I was someone else. He even went as far to ask my name and last name. I didnt even get to ask about the rentals before I was turned off. Very unprofessional. I recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Had a wonderful experience buying a Christmas present for my grand daughter. Jordan was very polite and knowledgeable. I always shop at Music & Arts when I need a musical instrument for a gift.

I recently had to order a cymbal case and was calling around to various music stores in the area. I was blown away with the experience provided by Music & Arts. Andrew picked up the phone and was more than happy to find the cymbal case that I was looking for, and even beat the prices of their competitors in the area! The process was quick and easy, and my order showed up after only a few days. I live almost an hour away but would gladly return to this store just for the high levels of customer service I received. Highly recommended.

I have never had a bad experience at Music & Arts. Everyone I have encountered has been knowledgable, professional and friendly. Molly was fantastic! My daughters clarinet was having some issues that would require it to be sent out but that was not an option since she needed it. Not only was Molly able to quickly find a solution for us and exchange the clarinet, but she did it with excellent customer service. Plus she has cool hair and shoes:)I would recommend this business to all my friends and family without reservations.

My husband and I were looking for a guitar, and Molly was amazing at helping us figure out exactly what we wanted. She showed us the difference between an acoustic guitar from a classical guitar, and helped us with ensuring we had everything we needed from a case to recommending books. We thoroughly appreciated Mollys helpfulness and being able to have someone walk us through the process. Further, the other staff in the store we friendly. 10/10 would recommend.

Custer Service is pathetic. Went to get my kids cello tuned along with replacing end pin bush replaced. CS agent says that they dont carry end pin bush. After showing the part online and mentioning that is is sold instore, they replaced it.When requested to tune the instument, they mention that I should do it myself. As an adult who never used these instruments, I was shocked to their response. My kid is not trained to tune it. With an exorbitant amount being paid for rental and insurance, the response I got was really disgusting.

Great place to rent or buy an instrument for your budding musician. They offer in house lessons ($$$), but no family discounts. Repairs are sent out and take quite a long time. Often loaner instruments are available, but I take my repairs somewhere else. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Worth a visit.

Where do I start about this place.... Customer service to product selection, this place is an A+ establishment. Special thanks to Jorden, Josh and Andrew for helping our church order three keyboards. We will definitely be coming back here for all future purchases.

Great experience! I am an adult that has been interested in picking up the violin for some time now. I came in looking for a beginner instrument after not finding what I needed elsewhere. I didnt catch the name of the woman that helped me, but she was super helpful. A lot of questions were answered and it was fun to look around afterwards.

This is a music store and also offers music lessons. They have a good selection of instruments and sheet music on hand. You will be able to order anything they dont carry in stock. Music lesson prices vary by teacher, and they have them for most of the instruments. They will set the lessons up through their monthly debit program. We choose this place since they have good knowledge about the schools band curriculum.

Andrew and his team in ellicott city deserve a great deal of recognition!!!! I have been to many Music and Arts stores, however, I have never had quite the service I got from this team. From the moment I walked in I felt welcome in the store. They helped locate items that were harder to find and also talked to me in great detail about rentals for my son.Thanks for all the great help guys!!!!

I really enjoyed taking lessons at this store with Amanda Holmes (low brass) for about 4 years. She a fantastic teacher and prepared me extremely well for studying euphonium in college, so I would highly recommend studying with her at this store if youre a low brass player.

Not happy at all with this store. I tired to turn in my instrument early but the boy in the store said not to until August . I turned it in and they charged my for months I never even had the instrument. They turned me into the credit borrow, which upset me. Been trying to get this straighten out with them. I now how a negative remark on my credit report. I think there charges for there mistake was wrong. They did not even have my account right in the store as well. I ran into a former employee and he told me they do this to many people. Not good at all. Do not want to ever work with them again.

Renting and purchasing experience in Ellicott City, MD store was fantastic. Consistently receiving rental invoices months after purchasing it with no one answering their phones, holding the phone line for +20 minutes with no luck, but they love charging the late fee every invoice! and threatening collections! Their message said they return the call within 1 business day... repeatedly hasnt happened... poor billing dept service is an understatement.

Rental is easy. Scheduling lessons was not a good experience because no one was consistently available every week and when I approached a manager there was no effort to remedy the problem. The response to my child who had nothing to do with the decision was Im sorry you didnt like your lessons. That was clearly not the problem.

My students had unpleasant experiences renting instruments here. If this only happened to one of them, I would give benefits of doubt and not bother to leave a review. Unfortunately this happened to more than one of them. Some had experienced false accounting issues like other reviews stated. Some had received problematic rental instruments. I typically refer my students to Perrins in Baltimore since Perrins is a professional violin maker/dealer and is excellent. But due to the distance some went to Music & Arts for their convenient location in Ellicott City. I will not recommend this place again.

Worst customer service and company policies.1) Long wait times, no courtesy towards customers. They make you stand in lines for hours at a time.2) Need to call phone customer service for in store charges? They never refund inappropriate charges and I had to dispute through credit card.3) Insurance is a scam. They charge you for everything. Dont ever take insurance.4) Rental equipment is old and charge you for deficiencies which pop up in a month.

If you need any type of instrument this is your place. Joey and Josh were very helpful when I was trying to decide which violin was just right.

Good people but bad accounting (could get robbed): Few years back the company changed its accounting and the manager who runs the place made a mistake of billing me someone elses account. I was paying off the remaining balance on my kids instrument. The manager collected what he thought was left on my account (turned out to be someone elses account). I paid the bill. The company (located somewhere else in the country) closed that ladys account but kept mine open. I kept getting billed (on my credit card) for monthly payments (the balance stands at $113.16). Everytime I drive to the store, the manager is baffled and does not know what to do. Last I heard from them was a call from Andrew who promised to take care of everything and send me a refund. That was in May 2017. I AM STILL WAITING....

Well, the staff members are kind and fine. The issue is LDW insurance and rent system of Music&ART I think.My daughter borrowed Yamaha flute 3/22/2017 at here and lost it Jan 2017. I reported this loss to Howard county MD police department and got a report number.My all stressful experience was started at that point. Music&Art members denied to accept this theft incident and they denied to cover it with LDW insurance.I paid so-called LDW insurance for 18 months till now. However, they told me this insurance is only for loss in cabinet or secured location. They insisted that if some lost an instrument in non-secured location they dont cover it. They did not tell me LDW insurance limitation before.Anyway, senior staff members borrowed me old flute instead. However, it is too old. That was 7 month ago. Today I visited here to change this old one to more proper one for my daughter.They told me , They can not give another one. Moreover, I can not even quit the rental contact either.Wow, that means I am stuck in this weird flute rental contract for the next couple of years to pay 35$ monthly for this old flute !!!Does anybody know how to handle this kind of issue?
