Was very helpful and even though they wasn’t for sure if they could get in on time for my trip. At least they were upfront and honest about it. Luckily they got the scooter I was wanting the following Saturday and all was good. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Excellent customer service provided from the minute we walked in the store by Kat until we received demo at our house and had our chair. She explained how the different chairs worked and answered our many questions. She said they could have tech bring demo to our house to make sure it would do what was needed.. The owner, Jim, set up a time that was sooner so we did not have to wait several weeks. The tech, Tyler, brought the unit to our house and explained all the features. We decided to buy unit and Tyler handled all paperwork. Kat ordered rain cover and checked to make sure we received it. Making our appointment online was super easy. Tyler was prompt, efficient, patient and very personable. He clearly explained to my mother what he has going to do and what the possible problems might be. OMG! What can anyone say for the best experience Ive had at a retail store in awhile. I took my Mother to the shop and after patiently showing her all the options for a scooter. On the way out, we noticed the transformer scooter. Long story short, I order the wrong scooter. When it came in, I noticed the error. They were willing to do anything to make it right. I absolutely loved the scooter and working with professionals who care about you and not just a sale. Would recommend them to anyone.

The sale experience was great delivery was no issue. Well after that everything when down hill. I started having issues with my Pride Scooter right away it would not hold a charge they replaced a part on the controls that did not work, carried it back they replaced the battery, carried it back they replaced the battery again, carried it back again now the warranty has expired they want me to pay 75.00 service fee I paid it for them to fix it and guess what they did not fix it I carried it back again and told them I was NOT going to pay again they said ok I pick it up and guess what it’s not fixed I call them and call them left messages after messages and they will not return my call. I really depend on my scooter and now I can’t go many places unless I am sure there is somewhere to plug it up or I may not make it back I FEEL THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME. So think twice before you make a purchase from them. Thanks Jim the manager for not taking care of your customer.

I was looking for a new mobility scooter. There one I had was a three wheel model and I had several incidences where the scooter tipped over. Jim and Kat were very helpful. I had multiple conversations with Kat prior to visiting the shop and she advised me of the much more stable four wheel models. I purchased one and am awaiting its delivery to the shop. Unfortunately, covid is still wreaking havoc with scooter back-orders.

I’m a right above knee amputee and right arm below elbow amputee. I had an amazing experience working with The Scooter Shop. At the time, my arm had recently been amputated and I wasn’t in the best headspace and definitely not excited by the idea of needing a power chair. I bought a Whill Model Cii from here helped by Jim a few years ago and he honestly helped me start to realize that as much as I didn’t want it, the power chair would help me immensely and he was right. I recently had to order a new battery and Kat was extremely helpful. I love my Whill. It’s allowed me to do so much more and keep up with my young niece and will help me keep up with my nephew as he gets older. My thanks to Jim and Kat for everything!

I purchased a lift chair which had to be ordered. Jim took the information over the phone, he followed up via email. The chair arrived earlier than expected and was delivered and installed the next day. The installer, Tyler was very pleasant. He delivered and installed the chair with chair. From the first day when we went in to get a rental to try before buying, he was very patient and understanding. Great place if you are looking for a mobility scooter. The salesman was very friendly, answered all my questions. He was very knowledgeable on all the different models. The scooter I purchased can be dismantled for putting in my car. He showed me how to dismantle it and put it back together. He was very patient as I dismantled it and put it back together. Price was right as compared to other scooter shops, which I compared prices before buying. I live in a senior housing complex on the third floor and the hallways are very long. I have serious back trouble and cannot stand or walk for more than 5 minutes. This Pride scooter was just the answer for maneuvering through the building and out doors. The scooter is very easy to operate and is actually fun to ride. You wont go wrong dealing with The Scooter Shop.

We called the Scooter Shop because the brakes on my mothers manual wheelchair were not working properly. She could still move in the locked position. I thought buying a scooter was nice and easy, we worked with Kat and she was kind and knowledgeable. I did do some online price comparisons and their price was the same and it’s the only place you can test ride before you buy, the others are online. My moms last scooter she bought elsewhere was too short for her legs and she’s not tall. It was very uncomfortable for her. Now, mom has a nice, comfortable, styling ride thanks to Kat and the scooter store.

He was clearly very familiar with the wheelchair, installed the new headrest, adjusted it for the correct height and angle for my husband, and fixed a cable that had become disconnected. The scooter was a terrific alternative to crutches while in a cast. It’s easy to maneuver and it felt safe to use. The people at the shop were responsive and helpful and were able to accommodate me immediately.

I feel as if I bought some independence! Kat was so great in helping me choose a scooter. I had my heart set on a transformer but I just couldnt lift it. Kat helped me choose another scooter that was much more manageable. Ive taken it out on a few test runs and its really helping me to be able to go where I want to go very easily. Being handicapped can put a cramp in your style, but this scooter really helps me feel free. I would highly recommend The Scooter Shop for any transportation needs. While I was there I was able to get a stand-up rollator also. I couldnt find those anywhere. All in all, a very productive trip.

Delivered it to my front door within a 72-hours, and provided a charger, and an operating tutorial.It should be noted that The Scooter Shop does not participate with insurance companies for their rentals, and will not file a claim on your behalf. That said, they do encourage their clients to submit claims independently should they choose to do so.If working with insurance is not an option. The shops out-of pocket rates are very reasonable and highly competitive, particularly for the DC-Metro Area. The staff understand that rental times vary for each individual, so theyre willing to work with you to determine an an appropriate rental agreement, too. I highly recommend them, trust them implicitly, and will return as a customer.

My husband and I are very happy with everything about the Scooter Shop. The staff is personable and customer oriented. We needed a minor adjustment to the wheelchair and they took care of it while we waited. They also made some helpful recommendations for a foot rest modification. Jim at the Scooter Shop helped me rent a scooter for my Mom to try out. It was such a good experience, I decided to purchase from the Scooter Shop. I feel very confident that if I have any issues at all, Jim would come right out and fix it. When the first scooter was difficult for my Mom to use due to her arthritis (controlled by thumb pedals), Jim showed me a power-chair model with joystick and allowed me a weekend rental for free. He showed me how to take the chair apart and it was pretty easy. My Mom liked it so much, she decided to buy it. And he had every color in stock! Trust me, give Jim a call if you are considering a scooter or power chair. Now is a great time to get one, my Mom has been so isolated and bored with the stay-at-home order and now she can join me on long walks with the kids and dog!

I have been looking for a scooter for a number of months. I called The Scooter Shop and spoke with Jim. He listened to my needs and recommended a scooter that would work for me. I need a scooter that would allow me to navigate the grounds of The Renaissance Festival, up and down hills and over rough terrain. I met him at the shop and he let me test drive a scooter. He showed me how to use the speed control to increase the power of the machine, and how to use the freewheel lever if the scooter needs to be pushed. Jim made sure I knew how to disassemble the scooter and put it in my SUV, and how to put it back together. I used my scooter for the first time this past weekend. It was perfect! Superb Customer Service AND Equipment!I recently rented found myself in need of a scooter for the weekend. This place is awesome! The guy Jack, was very friendly and came out in 95 degree heat to help me when I couldn’t find the shop. Not only did he do that but he fixed a minor issue without changing me, I still have him $20 just because they thought it was going to be impossible to get the piece back on my chair yet he still managed to! If you need a mobility device, the Scooter Shop is a “must shop” place. The shop showcases a variety of devices and the staff is extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and willing to help.Speaking of mobility devices, the Whill Model Ci is truly an amazing machine! Great indoors and out. The maneuverability is incredible, zero turning radius allows access through very tight spaces.Also, the Scooter Shop is very competitive with internet prices and perhaps most important – they are readily available and happy to provide support.

Fantastic customer service! Jim made sure our wheelchair was ready at our hotel front desk when we checked in and we just had to leave it there when we checked out. Our trip to Alien Con was made possible because we could rent the electric wheelchair. The hotel connected to the Convention Center by skywalk and it was possible to easily access every part of the Sheraton and the Convention Center. This was for a 6 foot 280 pound man and the chair was very comfortable and easy to use. The price for four days was extremely reasonable. When we got home I realized I had left a souvenir in the back pocket of the wheelchair. I called to see if it might still be there and Jim not only found it, he mailed it back to us!We give the Scooter Shop 10 Stars, an A+ and the Rose! Highly recommend 👍

Very pleasant and stress-free experience. First I had a helpful email exchange with Jim in which he answered all my questions. Then when I decided to try out a specific power wheelchair, Bryan brought it to my residence and was polite and knowledgeable, giving me clear instructions and answering my questions patiently. One of our employees needed an emergency repair. She was visiting from Hawaii and found her scooter was not working properly. We only had a small window of time before she traveled home for Tyler to come to our office in Columbia, MD to do the repair. My 3-wheel scooter was perfect for getting around the museums and streets of D.C. Easy to operate. Well maintained. The best part of the experience was dealing with Jim. I contacted the store in reference to a scooter I purchased and the seller could and would not help to get it started Jim told me what to do and my husband did it and it worked. We had it for 6 months and could not use it. Jim is very knowledgeable and from my description told me what the problem could be. I contacted the Scooter Store to rent a three wheel scooter for my wife to try out. We had borrowed a friends 4 wheel unit and wanted to compare. Jim brought a 3 wheel unit to our house but my wife was not as comfortable with it. In talking to Jim he offered us a trial on a Go-Chair a few days later and that turned out to be a very good fit for my wifes abilities with the joystick controller. We ended up buying one and were very impressed with his helpfulness, attention to details and obvious concern for my wifes needs. I highly recommend the Scooter Store.

The Scooter Shop Ellicott City has amazing customer service! Not only did they fix my 87 year old Aunt’s walker (which was not their property nor responsibility) where a screw was missing but they also let us drop off the wheelchair on Sunday when they weren’t even open!! My dad got a Juditta tilt in space wheelchair from them on a recommendation from the OT person at the nursing home where he was. We were told this would help relieve the pressure on his butt. This is a $3,000 wheelchair. Their response was great in setting it up and getting larger wheels for it as the OT person didnt order what he needed originally.That being said, their customer service since then has been pretty poor. I called more than a month ago to get a defective part replaced. I spoke to Jim (presumably the owner). I needed the wheelchair serviced at the nursing home. He told me it takes a while to get parts for it.My father has since died so I dont need service at the nursing home. I can replace parts on things myself. I still had heard nothing so I called yesterday and explained that I would do the repair, I just needed the part. I explained that it had supposedly been ordered more than a month ago. The gentleman I spoke to said they would check into it and get right back to me. A day and a half later I have still heard nothing.I would have serious reservations about buying from The Scooter Shop again. Pretty poor customer service...6/17/19 - UPDATEJim (the owner) did contact me last week after this posted. He apologized for what was apparently miscommunication. The person I talked to on the phone the most recent time misunderstood what I wanted and thought I was going to call them back.He had the part and we made arrangements for him to drop it off to me. The earliest I could do that was today. He offered to do it last week. The part was dropped off today and the young man who dropped it off was most helpful. He was under the impression I had the chair here, which I dont. So he allowed me to just agree that I would send the old part back after I replaced it.In our recent conversation, Jim also was telling me about the larger wheels on the original delivery. He said the OT person at the nursing home did order the chair with the smaller wheels but because it wasnt my mistake they ate the cost of the larger wheels. They never even told me that. They just did it.So, all things considered, I have to say, at least in my experience, The Scooter Store customer service has actually been rather excellent. Thank you all for making this a very good experience and I must say that I would absolutely do business with you again.As a result, I changed my rating to 5 stars.
