My best friend is a massage therapist so when I go for massages I am always comparing everyone to her, to make sure they are up to par with quality of massages, communication, attention to detail, and so on.I have been with massage envy for approximately 5 years now at 2 different locations 1 in NY city and the other MD. In both locations they are professional and hit all the marks I am looking for. Every therapist has their own style and techniques so if one doesnt work for you just go to the next.All in all Massage Envy ROCKS!!

I thought the process for scheduling an appointment was simple and easy. The office has taken precautions during the pandemic, with social distancing floor stickers in the entrance, masks on all employees, and masks on for patrons. I filled out a quick Covid symptoms survey before I entered and another upon arrival. Before the appointment, I was given a simple questionnaire to fill out to note preferences, areas they should focus on in my massage, and it was quick and straightforward.My massage therapist, Gayle was ready on time, introduced herself, and asked me further questions about what I would like out of my session. She was very communicative and a pleasure to chat with, although its worth noting that the majority of the massage other than when I opted to say something wasnt spent talking - which for me is my preference so I can focus on relaxing. While the whole massage was wonderful, I especially enjoyed her skilled scalp and neck massage. The music was a good volume and the lotions and oils smelled lovely. Overall a great experience and I will definitely return.

Chris was very skilled at knowing where the pain was and exactly how to treat it. I’ve had intense neck pain for a whole week from one bad night and it was almost completely gone after the 60 min session. Also taught me lots of good tips to help recovery at home

This was my first and LAST time ever going to this ME location! First, let me say that my massage therapist Shelia was wonderful, but the customer service of the other employees that work there is horrible. I had to call 4 times yesterday to reach someone in order to schedule a 60 min massage using a gift card I received for mothers day. At the time of booking the young lady on the phone stated 2 times that I would be responsible for paying a $10 balance after applying my gift card. However, once I completed my massage Ryan the receptionist states it would be $50+ dollars. She then told me that the massage was booked for 90 mins instead of the 60 mins that I CLEARLY booked. I guess they expected me to be looking at a clock while getting a massage. She then calls her manager Ronnie and explains the situation and he/she states that I am still responsible for paying the 50+ that I was NEVER quoted due to THEIR negligence. Then when I asked Ryan if I could speak to the manager Ronnie who was on the phone at the time, he/she refused to speak with me. The receptionist seemed more entertained by my frustration rather than empathetic. You can tell them girls are just there to get a check and go home. But, the staff is a clear reflection of management. I will NEVER EVER go back to this ghetto location.

Nicole is one of the best therapists I have encountered! Shes unafraid to mobilize joints as she manipulates soft tissues. She also understands that a little bit of discomfort is necessary in order to bring about healing. I dont get massages for comfort, but for rehabilitation. She is wonderful!

She was good, courteous and very professional, but for future visit, I would like a little more deep tissue over body massage with my legs, feet and back. With me being on my feet on the weekends from 4 to 12 hrs that deep tissue massage would benefit me best. Overall good experience.

Unpleasant experience since the beginning, I went with a friend who booked a facial for me and instead of that I got a massage. I had previously a massage in this location and it was wonderful. When I asked her if my service was a facial her answer was :what are you talking about? And she Sent me to the front desk where the lady nicely confirmed that she had a massage booked. I agreed thinking that I was going to be treated as the first time. After that everything was a nightmare, during the massage she touched my feet even when I mark in the chart that I dont like it and I told her twice to dont do it. I got completely stressed due to tension. Then every instruction was given in a very harsh way. My first language is not English but I can assure that I can understand more than 80% of the Language, that wasnt a impediment last times. Last night and today the pain in my lower back is unstoppable even by taking painkillers. This for sure is my last time going there.

The Massage Envy - Columbia is wonderful! I started going there years ago after my mom gave me an ME gift card for my bday. I was hooked after that first experience! Ive had nothing but positive interactions with the front desk staff and every single therapist (most recently the fabulous Tarlana!). Ronnie, the front desk staff person, was warm, friendly and focused on meeting my needs. Im one of those rare folks these days who stays loyal to businesses that treat me with respect and courtesy. The ME-Columbia team takes it a step beyond that by treating me with kindness and genuine care for my well-being. To me, thats priceless and absolutely deserving of my loyalty!! Mike was a fantastic massage therapist! The check in and check out was very slow and I waited much longer than any other massage envy locations. Usually I can check in within 30 seconds and check out just as quickly. It was unclear what she was doing and why it took so long. Check in was about 5 min and check out even longer

This ME location messed up my appointment time and acted as if it was my fault. The person that was giving me the massage seem to be flirting with me the whole time. She talked to me the entire massage. I couldn’t relax it was uncomfortable plus I asked for a low pressure massage, but it felt like the high pressure massage. Very uncomfortable!

I have been a member at the Columbia/Elkridge location almost 10 years now. All the massage therapists have been fantastic. Never had any scheduling hiccups. Everyone has been consistently friendly and behaved professionally. They don’t try to push extras on you all the time. Covid restrictions are inconvenient - I imagine much more so behind the scenes, but everything is running smoothly. I do miss the tranquility room though. Good job everybody.

The customer service is the worst, and they are clearly running a scam. We tried several times to cancel service right after COVID and nobody picked up. Sent emails to the fictional “account manager” (there is no phone number to call??) who refuses to get back or talk to us. They basically have taken our $500 and are telling my pregnant wife of 8 months to come in and take her remaining sessions or forfeit our money. Why exactly would we jeopardize our health and our baby’s health during COVID? We have not been to you since February, how can you keep someone’s money when you have not provided a service? We want a refund. These people have no decency, ethics, or professionalism. They should be shut down immediately!

Refusing to accept my request to cancel membership.I originally joined as a member 10 years ago. At the time I was told that my monthly membership fee was locked in for life. After 10 years of multiple fee increases combined with struggles with finding available appointment times, I finally decided to cancel my membership. Friends who recently cancelled their me memberships were able to cancel on site immediately at their request.While in the store, I requested to cancel my membership but was told cancellations could not be made on site. That an account manager would call me to complete the process. I requested confirmation that the request had been submitted to the account manager, but was told there was no ability to provide confirmation. And I could not call the Account manager myself. 10 days later, I had not heard from the account manager. I spoke with the store over the phone and again reiterated my request to cancel. They asked if the account manager had called me. I told them I had not heard from the account manager. They indicated the account was closed.Two weeks after my original request, an account manager texted me, telling me I had to respond to her email to process a cancellation request. I let her know I had not received an email from her but had spoken with the store over the phone and they confirmed my account was closed. She stated accounts cannot be cancelled unless she authorizes it. I offered to come into the store to sign the form, or have her send it to me by text. No response from the account manager.So far I have tried to cancel in person, over the phone and by text, but the cancellation has not been accepted.This is absurd! Cancelling membership should be a simple transaction and no more difficult than joining as a member. There is no reason not to accept an in person cancellation. It certainly should not require authorization of one person who is unreachable.Instead of putting up barriers to prevent members from canceling, Massage Envy could improve their service so members dont feel the need to cancel in droves.Fair warning, if you are a massage envy member planning to cancel your membership, be prepared to not be allowed to cancel in person, or immediately. Cancelling your membership will be a slog-fest through artificial barriers put in place to make it difficult to cancel. Start the process well in advance.Or better yet, dont become a member in the first place.

The front desk and the esthetician were incredibly nice. After $100 and a 60 minute facial, I initially left with soft skin and decreased redness. However, about 2 hours later, I was left with clogged pores anywhere the products were placed on my skin (upper arms, upper back, chest, face)..... I also wasn’t told what was being put on my skin, which is partially my fault for not asking, but it would’ve been helpful to know so I know what product reacted with my skin so poorly. :/

I have been trying to get in contact with billing department since March, it is now July. They have handled billing in the worst possible way during this Pandemic. I have been waiting for a call back for months. Every time I get in contact with the front desk, they say someone will contact me within 2 weeks... No one has. I cannot get help with my account and I cant believe as peoples lives are falling to pieces that I have to stress about my Massage Envy membership. I will NEVER recommend or go to this place again. I made an appointment yesterday the woman on the phone was very nice. However I came in for my appointment and I was started just a little late, I understood sometimes people fall behind of schedule. Well I finally got in the room took my therapist about 10 minutes to come back in my room, then she had some sort of an attitude so I just continued to lay there and see what happened next. Once my massage really started it was 10:14 and my ending time was 10:56 . That is not an hour . I paid for a 60 minute massage and I got about a 43 minute one. Lastly once I was finished getting dressed she told me she would meet me in the hall way with some water and she was never there I ended up just walking out to pay and leave. I regret even giving a tip or keeping my mouth shut while I was there.

I took a risk coming here and regret it. First I requested a female, they gave me a male masseuse. Second, I requested firm to deep massage and during the massage,the masseuse stated that he couldn’t do deep massage. He even advised that I requested for someone who does a deep massage the next time because I really needed a deep massage. 🙄the exact reason for me making the appointment in the first place. Lastly and most important, they charged me three time. I am still waiting for them to make that correction and refund me the amount. They have gravely inconvenienced me and the manager was condescending, brash, and rude. She seemed very unwilling to resolve my issue considering it was her staff who made this error.

I have never written a review until today and that shows that this place was super awesome! At first I tried setting up an appointment on a weekend when I first moved to this area but at the time, members only could receive services on the weekends. They have recently changed that policy and Im glad they did. From the beginning I was greeted by a very professional and polite staff. I forgot the ladys name at the front desk but she was super nice. I got a facial done by April, which was extremely amazing, my skin felt and looked 20 times better after my facial. She was very knowledgeable. Hands down the best facial Ive had in 7 years. I can see why Massage Envy has the reputation it has, its well deserved. Its a bit on the expensive side but its worth it. I will most definitely be returning. If you are looking for spa services in the area, Massage Envy is number one.

Would post 5 stars, the people here are great, EXCEPT today I had bad experience with a masseuse named Shantel. She was very short in her way of talking, questioned me multiple times on what I wanted done as if she didnt believe me. (I have been coming here for quite some time now and always get the same thing). Then, as it states in my chart, I asked to lie on my side. She gave me a look and rudely agreed as if I was going to be a major inconvenience by doing so, then left the room before I could even say anything else. Just a lot of bad energy off her as if she either didnt like me or didnt want to be there. And why would I get a massage from someone like that and then also have to pay said person for their work? I left the room to find her, but couldnt so I went to the front desk and said I needed to cancel and explained why.Listen, My little sister passed away a few months ago, Ive been in two car accidents that have physically impaired me, and Im about to move my life across the country. The last thing I want to do is feel anything but relaxed, which one should feel at a massage. Ive never had an experience like this before and do not wish to repeat. I will make sure to never book with that lady again and will make sure the people I know are aware.

This location must be very successful because getting an appointment takes 3 - 4 months planning. If you travel for work or schedule is not fixed I would consider another option for massages. I am going to lose 6 monthly payments because I am not free before noon and they are booked in the evenings until June. Bad choice on my part so canceling my membership. Will look to another location to use my credits. I recommend asking about scheduling times before you sign up. I didnt have this problem in the last location. Someone should consider another franchise in the area to relieve the pressure from this location.

Several years ago I stopped going to the Columbia (Maryland) location in Marie curie Drive. My reason, horrible customer service. Moment ago, I called this location to take advantage of a gifted message. Samantha answered the phone. I explained I was redeeming a gifted message,and the day I would like to use it. Samatha was quick to give me the days that 90 minutes messages where available. She even praised the technician. I was not aware that my gift was 90 minutes. Samanatha then put me on hold, explaining that she had a “customer” in front of her. I found this as odd since I thought I was a customer. Anyway, 20 ,imputes later ( I remained on the phone for a reason). Samantha comes back to the phone as if she had never spoken to be prior. In short, she forgot she put me on hold. Then she couldn’t find the gift that was given to me. Instead I had to hang up and call the person who. Gifted the message. Call back the c9lumbia (Maryland) locati9n. Luckily another Hong lady answered the phone. Was was competent enough to assist me. W/ the 60 minute gift that was left for me. Customer service is the one thing thing that makes us standout from all the other people who provide us the same service. I left because the customer service here was substandard. The Columbia, Maryland Franchise which includes the Ellicott City location on Route 40 is TERRIBLE! Although Im a long time member, the level of customer service has become pitiful! Their ability to offer a full range of services is AWFUL! Its next to impossible to make speciality appointments. BEWARE once you have an appointment, youre likely to show up and be told its either been canceled or that youll have to choose a different service because theyve switched therapists and they dont all offer the same therapy. VERY DISAPPOINTED with the downhill slide!The front desk personnel, both in person and over the telephone, are rude, unpleasant, people who dont know how to smile and have no idea how to provide customer service.What should be about stress reduction and relaxation becomes STRESSFUL and FRUSTRATING. Even the franchise owner Korry is unresponsive and apparently non-caring. As they told me on the phone He almost never comes in here, so we dont know how to get in touch with him. When pressed, the rude girl said maybe someone here can send him an email and ask him to call you.Its been 3 months. ALL my appointments were canceled by Massage Envy via email yet they are holding my money. I received a rude email saying that they hired someone specifically to provide the services my therapist had been providing except for the specific type that I require for a health ailment and that she doesnt work the same hours. Im not sure what good that does me. I need something quite specific at a specific time of day. Ive sent emails - NO answer from the Franchise owner. Ive left voice messages after hours and nobody has addressed my issues. I cant reschedule because they wont answer my phone calls during business hours - I think theyve flagged me as a difficult client despite the fact that theyve been the ones to act unprofessionally. Even if they would answer my calls, they arent offering what I need. BEWARE dont start the New Year off letting these people rip you off.

I cant even review the quality of the services themselves, because the customer service here is so awful. Being new to massage envy, I called to set up an appointment, was almost set up, but then was put on hold for an extensive period of time. I understood that they may have been busy so I hung up with the intention of calling back at a better time. Called 2 other times and was put on hold each time, for at least 20 minutes. The day of the unconfirmed appointment, I get a call from a staff member, accusing me of not calling back and implying that I lied about not knowing I had an appointment, because I had received a text message (I didnt). I tried to contact management directly to relay the experience, but no response. Just bad business that left me feeling really awful and completely uninterested in using their services in the future.

I recently reactivated my account, and spoke with Amanda at the front desk. The customer service is always top-notch, and they often go above and beyond whats expected for their patrons. I cant recommend them enough. So worth the price of membership!

Five stars for the aestheticians at this location. I’ve had 3 aestheticians over the course of the past 14 years, each of them have provided value and a level of service that should be highlighted.Unfortunately the level of service, or lack thereof, provided by their on-site management team needs to be addressed immediately. I visited today to request a freeze on my membership. I received a dismissive response from their manager that their “accounts person” would reach out to me in 8-10 business days. I understand every company has policies and procedures in place, however, it’s equally as important to honor and respect your customers by providing a level of customer service instead of acting like you’re bothered by a customers request. The manager stated, “It’s easier for us to go through the accounts team”. 8-10 days to follow up with a paying customer hardly seems “easier” to anyone involved when a freeze should be easily processed in the system.Even worse, when I asked the manager to provide me with the information for the contact who would be able to assist me; I was told “We don’t give out that information”. Interesting....why would a company make it so difficult to get in contact with a decision maker?A simple request to freeze a membership and the inability for a manager to appropriately help a customer, and instead give an attitude, just lost a 14 year loyal member. I’ll take my business elsewhere to a company who values their customers.

Many convenient locations, nice staff. However! You must be a member to use their service on the weekends and everyone else must come during the week. As if your week is not busy enough. Not ideal for gift cards
