I showed up in a hurry because I had to use lyft and only had 10 minutes to exchange my instruments and the staff were very fast and knowledgeable of my instruments. Kurt took great care setting up my electric and adjusting the trust Rod in my acoustic. Great staff and great service!

Been doing biz with Skips for almost two decades. I was excited when Elk Grove opened and it used be a decent store. It has gone steadily downhill over the years, leading me to wonder why I keep hoping it will change and why I keep trying to give them business. They rarely have what i need and having to seek out help from someone that gives the vibe that they have better things to do stinks.The Sac Skips on Auburn Ave has a much better vibe and selection. I dont think the employees in EG know what its like to have a great neighborhood music store.Its not just about the gear. I can get gear online. I like going to stores. Its the smile and the enthusiasm that keeps customers. This customer is now gone.

Last year I left my flute there to be repaired,Leaky pad.It was cleaned and given back to me for a charge of 50 dollars.Looking for another flute repair tech that is not a thief

Been doing business with Skips for over 30+ years at the Auburn Blvd store when I lived in Sacramento and now since I moved out towards Galt, Ive been doing business with Pete (store mgr.) and his staff for over 10 years at Skips Music on Elk Grove/Florin Rd. Staff turnover is high as it usually is in this type of retail environment but Pete has been the mainstay at this store for many years and has treated me and my family with respect and fairness whenever we shop at his store.Elk Grove, in my opinion, is a blue collar town and there really isnt a demand for high dollar musical instruments and the store can resemble a ghost town at times but nonetheless, theres a good selection of gear aimed at beginners, weekend warriors, as well as gear meant for professional musicians.Can they compete with the big box chain stores on pricing? Yes they can and have beat or matched anything found online.Is their repair department always able to repair on time? In my case, my sons saxophone had to be sent to the Auburn Blvd store for a tune up and during the time, the repair tech went on vacation and we were not told of this and the saxophone took much longer than expected to be finished. Upon pick up of the saxophone, the cost of the tune-up wasnt keyed properly into the computer and it took 20 minutes to finally find the invoice. Things like this happen and Pete was embarrassed about the entire ordeal and gave us a break on the bill. Cant beat that at CG.

Drum stick shelves are always in bad shape and missing several sizes. I play Vater sticks, which they were out of, and was told they are not going to caring Vater anymore. WHAT?!?! Went to buy set of Remo Pin Stripe Heads and they only had a few of most sizes and of course missing the one size 14” to complete my kit. And no I don’t want you to call the Sacramento store to see if they have it, I need it now. The last 4 times I’ve went to purchase from this store I walked out empty handed and disappointed. SKIPS... PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER!!!

I was there 10 minutes before they opened and was standing in the cold, which is fine, when they opened the door to let an employee in. I asked if they had strings for my ukulele so I didnt have to wait in the cold for 10 more minutes and all I got was, I dont know, we open in ten minutes and he shut the door. There wasnt even a glimmer of caring in his face or voice. Needless to say if the employee couldnt give me 15 seconds of his time I wasnt going to wait 10 more minutes to give them my money. Horrible, horrible customer service.

My brother is a DJ,He wanted to but a Barringer speaker but they said they dont sell them. The guy Matt told him that the Peavey was the next best thing. Shortly after purchasing the speak he had to bring it back because it was giving him problems. ..they took it in for repair, then later after not using the speaker for months, he went to use the speaker again, and it still gave him problems. So he had to take it back again. When he arrived the guy in the speaker department began to test it while he tried every excuse in the world to avoid replacing the speaker. When the manager got involved they both kept giving him excuse after excuse. Then they told him his worranty just expired smh, then they said he would have to pay $100 to get it to the repair department, then he would have to pay up to $600 for the repair!! Wth? Then the manager said he would waive the $100...but my brother would have still pay for the repair smh..all of this was very unecessary! !! All they had to do was just exchange the speaker...it was a faulty speaker from the beginning. This is really awful business, and obviously they dont stand by their products after the sale is done. They were pumping it up in the beginning just to make the sale. Im warning *ALL CUSTOMERS, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING EXPENSIVE!!!! at the Elk Grove Guitar Center....they will not return your money or exchange it if there is a problem. My brother paid hundreds of dolls for that speaker for nothing. So much for customer appreciation.

Just call trying to find out if they have any bubble machine juice, kept me on the phone for 20 minutes, someone got on the horn and said, hold on Im going to call the department again, another 10 minutes nothing, unbelievable just spend 30 minutes on the phone for nothing
