My boat trailer broke down on Interstate 65 late evening, and they were there quickly to tow and solve my problem. They were able to get me back on the road first thing in the morning, and took great care of my boat trailer at a fair price based upon my needs. I would highly recommend!

We were on the side of the parkway for many hours last night. Called around to find someone to help us. These guys came and saved us! After 28 hours of no sleep the last thing I needed was a busted wheel bearing in the middle of no where. I told them where I was with very vague details because I didn’t know myself. And they came and picked us up faster than anyone else ever thought of. We got to their shop and they immediately went to work on our hummer! Within 30 minutes we were fixed up and back on the road! I grew up in shops because my daddy was a mechanic. This place was our saving grace and we so thankful!! The guys were super sweet and helpful! If you need help and want it done right and fast, call these guys!!

I took my truck in because the check engine light came on. The mechanic who was there, checked the code and told me they couldnt provide service and I should probably take it to Ford Service Center. They saw me promptly, the mechanic explained everything in lamens terms, and provided good service I believe. But... while the mechanic was checking the codes, he was enjoying a cigarette inside my vehicle. I paid $50 to have my check engine light read, told they cannot help me, and some cigarette ash left on my floorboard.

Absolutely would recommend this company. We were broke down on the expressway early evening on a Friday night, pickup, camper and two dogs.....We called and within less than an hour was towed and safe. BLUF: Excellent service quality, fair price, and next day turn around on a major repair for a 11 Honda Odyssey with towing.Over the labor day weekend I noticed my van was a bit low on power steering fluid. I topped it off appropriately and went about refilling with the recommended P.S. fluid. I worked the wheel to remove air bubbles from the system and just at that moment a seal blew out in the rack area (drivers side) of the rack and pinion. I was able to diagnose it correctly myself and opted not to try and tackle this one myself in the driveway in the oppressive September heat. Carls crew towed the van to their shop on a Tuesday at 0930 and I was driving it home the next day after I got off work. I believe they had it ready even a couple hours sooner and they didnt have the part on hand that first day either. I know the cost of the replacement part and the total they gave me seemed more than fair for towing, installation labor, and an alignment on-top of that. The staff was very friendly and kind and were willing to address any questions I had. Again, Im very happy with the quality and speed of service they provided us to get our families mommy-mobile back up and serving the family as it should. Ive already recommended them to personal friends. Now I hope you can take my word in recommending them to you. Thanks Carl and crew!

Broke down near Elizabethtown. Googled Auto repair near me Carls came up closest. It said it was closed, but I tried anyway. Joe, the overnight tow truck operator answered and I told him my situation. He said hed be right there to pick me up.He put our SUV on the flatbed and hooked up the utility trailer we were towing to the hitch on the flatbed. My wife and our dog got in the tow truck and we were off to the shop within 30 minutes. He unloaded the SUV and trailer, then got his personal vehicle and took us and our luggage to a local hotel. He said the mechanics come in about 7:00 a.m. and would call me.At 9:00 a.m. Mike called to tell me what was wrong and what it would cost to fix. I gave the O.K. and he said it should be done around noon.At 11:00 a.m. he called back and said it was ready to go. I said I would get a taxi and be over to pick it up. He said Ill send someone to get you. 10 minutes later, Dale was there to get me. By noon, we were on our way. This is what customer service should be. These folks set an example that everyone should strive to duplicate.Thank you to Carls for your help.

My Sisters air conditioning on her Pontiac Bonneville on a Friday evening when she was at Mammoth Cave! Towing was not a problem, Insurance would cover most of that. But need a place open on Saturday. These guys were GREAT! They showed us what was wrong, gave us a price and how long it would take. The price was 1/2 of what a repair shop in Louisville, they said if she did not want to spend the money, they could just unhook the air conditioning and she would be fine. That is why she cintinued to Mammoth Cave. But just unplugging it did not help as the serpentine belt was still having issues as the air conditioning culch was not turning.Carls did a fantastic job and done in the 2 hours they said. There were very nice and friendly. Also their office and bathroom are clean and smell nice. That surprised my sister since the one in Louisville was so nasty.I had google and read the reviews before giving her a couple of options. So glad she decided on Carls. Highly recommend them.

Highly recommended. I came in based on a recommendation from a friend. I had a squealing noise under my hood that started suddenly. Came in and was told it was coming from the alternator and the idle pulley. In the end it was just the alternator, so I saved money because they didnt just replace both parts like some less reputable shops might do. The honesty was greatly appreciated, because I wouldnt have known any different if they replaced both. Service was done in a quick manner, and the labor cost was very reasonable.Fast forward a few hours later and I go to start my vehicle and it wont even turn over. Since I just had service to replace the alternator I give them a call. Without even questioning it they send someone out right away in a tow truck. The gentleman arrives and tries to figure out what the issue might be to try to avoid a tow, but he cant find anything obvious. My car is towed back to the shop and it turns out to not be related to the earlier work/issue, but I have a bad starter. Thankfully they worked me in right away and swapped out the starter. Another repair cost, but now Im good to go.Mind you this was all on a Saturday, and the second repair was completely unscheduled, so on a Saturday I had two repairs and a tow completed, and altogether in less than approximately 4 hours (which includes my time idle at home not knowing the starter was shot). I couldnt ask for a better experience, even with needing two parts replaced (lol). If you want friendly service at a fair price, while being able to have peace of mind that you are receiving trustworthy service, go to Carls! Thanks for the awesome service, and know you have earned a loyal customer! I just hope its a while before I have to come back. :)

The down side is they never asked me if I wanted any other work done. I was ready to get an oil change and new wipers had they asked. Also, they were only going to replace the flat tire (with a slightly smaller one) and not make a suggestion to change out the other front tire so my alignment would go out of wack from different sized tires. It took me to ask them if they had a 2nd tire and to replace both front tires. Even though there was 4 guys just standing around not doing much, they seemed to be in a hurry to get rid of a paying customer who was willing to pay more.

Im from northern IL, and my family and I were traveling from home, to northern Alabama to visit my parents on Christmas Day, and we got into an accident on the highway in Elizabethtown. Carls was the closest tow company, and the man on duty (I dont remember his name) agreed to come and get us. As it was Christmas Day, and absolutely nothing was open, he was very helpful in finding some place to drop us and all of our luggage (for two adults, a small child, and an infant) off. Aside from this, everything that unfolded afterward was absolutely ridiculous. First of all, when my insurance company sent a tow truck to bring my car to the facility where my car would be inspected for an estimate, Carls forgot to send my keys with my car, and it is apparently protocol for them to do so. Then, after being inspected, my car was towed to the shop that would further inspect my car, still without keys. Now, at this point, Im still unaware that Carls had my keys sitting an an office, forgotten about. In fact, I wasnt even informed of my missing keys until 2 weeks after the accident occurred. Skip forward a few days, after insurance calling around, they find my keys! In an office, at Carls, forgotten about. The shop my car was at could not even start their estimate without my keys. Another week went by, and I find out, even though its their fault my keys were missing in the first place, that Carls Auto Care & Towing is now refusing to cooperate, and will not pay to ship my keys to the shop. Now, Im going to reiterate that I live in Northern IL, about a 5 hour drive from Elizabethtown, otherwise I would have gone and gotten my keys myself!! The shop my car was at in Louisville then decided that they would pay for shipping my keys, and insurance agreed to cover it. A field agent from my insurance actually ended up driving to Carls to get the keys and then drove them 50 minutes to the shop in Louisville. That was 3 days ago. Today, insurance coverage for my rental car ended, and work hasnt even been started on my car. 25 days went by without ANYTHING happening with my car because the people at fault for losing my keys refused to cooperate. (Ahem, Carls). I get that the accident was not their fault, but everything that unfolded since the accident has been directly their fault. They also told me that they dont do repairs, which must have been a lie considering all of the nice reviews on here tell me that they do, in fact, do repairs. Maybe its because Im from out of town, and they dont want to deal with it, whatever, but the way they handled this whole situation is very, very, unprofessional and caused me and my family a lot of unnecessary stress. I would not recommend this tow company to anybody, ever.

Only reaso you get 1 star is they wont let me give you zeroI hope this helps Mike (mechanic?)HOW RADIATOR COOLING FANS WORKStep by step instruction on how an automotive radiator cooling fan works. This article pertains to all vehicles.Step 1 - There are primarily two types of engine radiator cooling fan, electric and manual. A manual fan is connected to the engine drive pulleys and is controlled by a thermo fan clutch which senses radiator heat and engages when the engine is running at higher temperatures. These thermo reactive clutches are constructed to freewheel when not in use, and become connected using a silicone grease which expands when heated. This unit uses a set of shaft bearings and seal to retain lubricant and are normally bolted to the water pump of the engine. A clutch fan can fail one of two ways, it can either lock up causing poor mileage accompanied by a whirring sound, (like a small airplane is taking off.) Or the silicone grease can leak causing the fan to freewheel while failing to pull air through the radiator.I would think if a vehicle is dropped off and a radiator cooling fan is what is requested you dont change a perfectly good thermostat and then saying that the engine type is notorious for over-heating and cant be repaired. I had already removed faulty fan. You didnt realize it was missing?
