They are supposedly a non kill shelter however they are putting my stray dog ( whom me and my neighbors took care of for months) down. I have been crying nonstop all day. This is animal cruelty. I would never send a dog to this shelter EVER. They claim he can not be adopted. BUT, he slept inside my house and lived peacefully with my two other dogs. He is the sweetest dog I know. MULTIPLE families have offered to adopt and work with him, but they are still putting him down. Also they will not even let my family say goodbye to him. PLEASE DO NOT EVER SEND A DOG HERE. I would give them 0 stars if I could( this is the dog. His name is Murphy.)

Everyone we spoke to was outstanding and they helped bring our babies home after they broke out of the fence. it is so clean in there and honestly the nicest shelter i’ve seen. even with having to stay overnight they seemed so happy and well taken care of. will continue to support this shelter! thank you guys again

The facility is new and really nice. We were after a younger dog than those that were there at the time. It is a great setup. Youll likely see volunteers constantly taking dogs out for walks - not only for exercise but to help them stay comfortable around people. You check in with the desk and then you can go back to look at the dogs in their kennels. Any that you are interested in you can take to a small room to visit with.

Lovely Shelter! We dropped off a box of gently used old towels for the cages and we were impressed with how Clean everything was and no bad odors! Nice spaces for the cats & dogs to play. And the get to know your pet adoption areas are great. Check it out!

If you havent been in a while they have made MAJOR changes to the facility. Sadly, but needed more space for animals and more greeting rooms. They had 2 big boys in the same cage (bonded pair) and a pit in the same room that if I was really to expand our family would have taken home today.Please consider rescuing a pet from Edmond Animal Shelter!

We recently adopted a dog from Edmond Animal Welfare! He is the sweetest boy and the adoption process was great! He came home healthy with no food aggression, knowing basic commands AND good on a leash!!I’ve been blown away

We found two puppies wandering around early morning. Severely malnourished and we took them in for the night. We have three other dogs so we couldn’t keep them. We went to surrender them to a no kill shelter and they told us to call Edmond. So, we took them there and Josh was the rudest person I ever met. He acted like we were abandoning them and kept questioning on how I found them in a neighborhood and why I was driving through that neighborhood. My fiancé went in for me because he made us wait in the heat with these two dogs. And everything she said to him he just ignored and never said anything. I like this shelter but he needs to go. He was the RUDEST PERSON.

Absolutely terrible experience here. On my way to work there was a puppy running alongside the highway. Naturally I had to intervene so I picked him up, took him home and gave him food, water, and a bath. Called this shelter to ask if I was able to drop him off there until his owner was there. They said I could but they were probably going to kill him. My land lord was coming by today and I had no option but to take him there. Upon arrival they hurled insults at my mother, accused her of being a lier multiple times. And didn’t want to except the dog but finally did. I’m just astonished at how unprofessional and rude these people are.

The adoption process was really simple and me and my wife couldnt be happier with the process, we found the dog we wanted to bring back to a forever home!

Weve recently adopted a wonderful dog and the sweetest cat from this shelter. The application process was easy and the $25 adoption fee for each was definitely worth it! The staff is super friendly and helpful. 10/10. Would absolutely recommend!

We adopted a dog here and the entire process was super easy and fast. Animals had there own space and an outside play area and every time I would stop by to look, staff was our walking dogs. Recommend highly!

The Edmond Animal Welfare compound is a well thought out facility run by a very dedicated group of paid staff & volunteers! Its newness affords the humans who run the place the opportunities to give the tlc needed for its animal occupants.A side note- there are places that you can see were built by the lowest bidder .We ended up giving a forever home to a beautiful little dog named Petunia! The map directions were clear and accurately got us to there location. A lovely time was had by all!

I really liked this shelter. It was clean and the layout was nice. They seem to do a great job with adopting animals out because there was only 1 cat and a few dogs when we went to look for another cat to adopt. I definitely got good vibes from this animal shelter and will be back when we are ready to get another animal.

For being a pound, this is a top-notch facility. The dog’s pens are always clean, and the animals are well taken care of. The service provided by the shelter staff is exceptional. They are extremely helpful and kind. I’ve adopted three different animals from here over the past 13 years and never had any regrets. Saving the life of a pet while paying such a small adoption fee that includes neuter/spay, vaccines and any necessary tests and post-adoption exam (if needed) is such a great deal! I just adopted a kitten yesterday and couldn’t be more pleased with her and the entire experience!

Rude customer service. She accused me of being someone else right from the start. She then continued to scream at me on the phone.Thought people who worked there cared about animals?

I love Edmond Animal Shelter. We have adopted 2 dogs from them and the staff couldnt be more nice or helpful. Their animals are well cared for and transition nicely.

This is the best animal shelter Ive been to. They are the cleanest, all of the animals were well taken care of and they even had treat dishes attached to the cages that you could give to the animals. They offer a low adoption fee and they give you supplies when you adopt. These people are doing it right. They also had a large crate outside that they use for a safe overnight drop off option. These people really care.

Great place staff are amazing

It is always sad to go here and see so many animals that were found roaming but the facility is always clean and the staff has always been friendly. Yes, I go often and take toys for the dogs going to a home bag. If you need a dog or cat please start here. They need good homes and would be appreciative of your love. Pricing is inexpensive and the animals have seen a vet. Do not forget this great shelter

We were there ,2minutes to closing this was in 2014 they let us in we picked a small dog he is such a blessing to me and my child I want to thank you for all you have done. His name was Elroy it is now pepper and he is still going strong.

We got out sweet cat Wicker from here!Shes been a wonderful addition to our home.The fee was $25, and they gave us a file with all the information they had on her.The shelter itself is very clean & friendly.

Love this place! Super friendly staff who do a great job. When we got our cat, they gave us tons of information on the pet which helped out tons. I also spun a wheel and got the adoption free which was nice! The adoption cane with a bag of treats and toys which was super cool!

Lost dog called Edmond Animal control 5 days later I get a call Jock was found and got a call back. There were 10 sightings in that 5 days on Next door thanks for everyone who helped bring him home.

Staff was wonderful!

So I went today to kill some time and look at the cats. Ive been looking for an elder cat that speaks to me and Id love to own for its last few years. Ive been before and there was 2 young girls who were very friendly and were very welcoming. Well I went today and there was an older lady working who made the entire experience terrible. I assume she runs the place because she processes the volunteer applications she says. Well anyways the older cats were VERY dirty and I offered to wipe one of them down to help and EVERY response and interaction I had with her was ABSOLUTELY rude and not helpful. She then asks if Im looking to adopt that same day and if not that I wasnt allowed to interact with the pets and just hang out. She treated me like a child and I was completely humiliated. I hope she finds a different career path and someone like her younger employees should be in charge. Thanks for ruining my day off and my past pleasant experiences. If you have the nerve to tell me to leave when Im offering to help then maybe you should take care of your cats and recognize elder cats cant clean themselves very well and need assistance. Ill return as soon as she finds a new job.

I love my daughter and I were headed to the Walmart on Danforth and Santa Fe and in the process, we stumbled upon a little old dog lying in the road near Mitch Park so took him to this shelter to get him some obviously much needed medical attention. They were extremely friendly even though it was only 15 minutes until theyre closing time and the lady said that she was pretty sure somebody tried to drop the dog off with them from Piedmont a week or 2 previously and I guess when they couldnt get assistance they just dumped him somewhere but they took him in and gave him the medical attention he needed.

Its a very nice facility and not at all over crowded. Thats probably due to their very low adoption fee of $25.The staff was very helpful and efficient with the adoption process.We got a million dollar kitten for $25.Thank you.

They are very helpful didnt find my dog but they are very nice and helped me to get my little dog on the list to be found.

Attended a low cost vaccination event with my sister so we could get her pup all fixed up. Genuinely, some of the most caring and compassionate people Ive come across. Not to mention the others attending the event who were nice as can be as well. It was hot, and there was a long line, but the staff made you forget with the cold water and baby pools. Thanks!!!

Charged me 75$ dollars to get my dog back after another dog ripped its collar off and dug a hole under my fence(which I cannot find for the life of me) This place wouldnt work with me or set up a payment plan, I had to borrow money just to get my own dog back THAT I LOVE. And if I have to pay that much just to get her back because she was vaccinated this year yet, then that money should go towards vaccinations for MY dog.

Found a sweet little dog at a gas station and he was almost hit by three cars. We couldnt keep him because we have 2 dogs and a cat in a tiny apartment, but the Edmond Animal Shelter took him in. They were very nice and patient with him. I hope he finds a wonderful home.

I had a question so I had called, someone had answered all my questions and they were very knowledgeable and had given me honest answers. I have also been to the facility and they always keep the place clean and are very good with the animals.

Very nice people and place. Went to see if my cat that is lost might be up there. Unfortunately she wasnt but the staff are very helpful and friendly. They had some cute kittens if anyone is looking for one.

We have gotten both our cat and dog here! This is a wonderful shelter, with good prices and cheap microchipping. It is clean and well organized. The people are helpful and tell you the bad with the good on the animals there. Pictured is Gilbert the cat (formerly Trey) and Leo the dog (formerly Gill).

I give 2 stars because I will say it is very clean BUT they dont care about their animals or the people who adopt them. I adopted a very sick kitten without knowing from them (vomiting blood) and when I came back a week later to get help they took him back and acted very rude and gave out 0 empathy. The lady told me the would probably just euthanize the baby kitten. Ever since they came into new management theyve been terrible. Also while I was walking in one of their volunteers was walking a dog who tried to come say hi to me and she aggressively yanked him by the leash and yelled at him. Very disappointed in this place.

I went here almost a year ago to get me a new forever friend as my dog of three years had passed away. I loved meeting all of the animals, I was in search of a new kitty and had many to choose from. The staff were friendly and let me take my time finding my perfect pet. I look forward to adopting from this shelter again!

On a weekend trip to OKC, My boyfriend and I decided to look at an animal shelter to kill some time. It was an okay shelter. You got to see all the cats and dogs that you wanted and meet them and hang out with them as much as you wanted. Some of the dogs looked really skinny though :/ But it was still fun!

Very pleasant experience when adopting my kitten from here. Very reasonably priced and the people working cared very much about the animals well being. She was to young to get her rabies vaccine but they called me when she was old enough and I went down and got it at no additional cost since it is included in the apportion fee. I would adopt though this shelter again.

I found a stray at 122 between Bryant and Coltrane at risk to myself I managed to get a large Mastiff mix into my car. Brought it to the shelter that was not busy. They would not take the dog because it was not officially Edmond. Even though dogs don’t stay in a district and could have come from Edmond one street over. Not helpful or kind. Had to go across town to the OKC shelter. They were extremely busy but so much more helpful and kind. They were not surprised about Edmond. They had heard similar stories about refusing assistance. So disappointed in this agency and how tax dollars are spent

I needed to have my old cat friend of 18 years euthanized. The staff here was very kind. They promised to perform the service as soon as possible so that my baby was not left sitting in a cage. This was a very sad occasion which they treated properly and humanely.

Staff is very helpful and have now adopted 2 great pets from this place. Always hard to walk the cages. Please go and help give these friends a home!

This shelter is clean and the staff is very friendly. Everytime I have visited there are volunteers helping with the animals. We have adopted two fur babies from the Edmond shelter and we will forever be grateful for the good treatment they received before they came to live with our family.

We adopted a cat from the Edmond Animal Shelter. The people working there were very nice and helpful. The animals were clean, healthy and well cared for. The shelter was clean and sanitary.

Just recently got our pup from there. Our dog chewed his collar off and we had searched for over a week for him and found out he was in a place another city over. Was informed one of the people their wanted to keep him and he refused to bond with them and only then did they list my dog. Luckily someone on facebook had seen one of my multiple postings and tagged me. Nice to know that if my dog would have bonded with a stranger my 3 and 1 year old would have lost their dog theyd been asking about since he got out of the yard. He was clean, feed and returned home which is all we care about.

Always a great experience!

My mother unfortunately had to put her beloved dog down because he was approximately 12 years old, very sick, and could not be saved. She is low income and did not have the money to take him to a vet to be put to sleep. The people here at Edmond Animal Shelter were sweet to her on the phone offering to help for a much cheaper price than the vet. But once she went in, so that poor Butler would no longer be suffering, they were EXTREMELY RUDE and would not even let her be with him as he took his last breath. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES and do not even deserve a star! You call yourselves animal rescuers/lovers but you let a sick dog go to sleep surrounded by strangers instead of the ones who love him all because she could not afford to take him to a vet. & was extremely rude to a furmom who was beside herself with grief & pain in having to do the unthinkable. I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED!!!
