Always gave honest and reasonable advice and recommendations. Its hard to find an auto shop that you feel like you can trust, but Holman is that place. Plus they have a great deal for full synthetic oil changes.

Holman Automotive is always a friendly place to go and perform great service. They will not tell you they can have your car done by a certain day/time if they arent sure if they can. I would recommend them with much confidence.

Mr Holman is a great mechanic with a great crew, which includes his mechanic son, who know how to fix cars at great prices. You do need an appt, usually a week in advance, and they are always busy. You must leave your car with them for the day. Good work at more than fair prices. They rebuild transmissions and install engines too. Sign out front says if you dont see what they offer for work, ask. Hes that mechanic you are looking for if you want to keep your car running for 200 to 300 plus thousand miles. A used car inspection needs a week in advance. Very energetic hands on guy who also teaches his skills to his mechanics and freely shares his knowledge with his customers. Trusted no nonsense competent mechanic with a great above board business.

Holmans is my go to auto repair place because they have very reasonable prices and is close to my workplace. I can drop my car off in the morning and its ready to go at the end of the day. Ive only had one big repair job where I had to leave it overnight but I knew that ahead of time and was able to make arrangements before I dropped off my car. They are also very honest and own up to their mistakes. I recently had a few issues with my car. The first time, I brought it to Holman and a few weeks later, I ended up having to have it towed to a place near my house and the other shop discovered that critters living in my garage were storing dog food in my muffler! Then I started noticing that my car was leaking oil so I set up another appt. with Holman. It turns out that some of the bolts werent tightened enough when they replace my timing chain. They were upfront about it and admitted that it was their error and didnt charge me for fixing the oil leak. They could have easily blamed it on the other shop and I never would have known!If you choose to take your car in to Holmans just be aware that they arent always the greatest at following up with calls. The first time I took my (previous) car in to Holmans I had read many of the reviews and my take-away was that I would need to be the one to follow up and call them to find out the status of my car since they are a busy shop. I ask lots of questions and I make sure they know my expectations up front since I would have to make arrangements ahead of time if I had to leave my car overnight. If I have to leave a message, they are good about returning my call. Knowing what to expect, I have found Mike and Nick very easy to work with. I highly recommend Holmans!

This is a great shop. Other than new vehicle maintenance and warranty work, we have had vehicles serviced with Mike Holman / Holman Automotive for over 15 years. We have always had extremely positive and consistently high-quality service. In our experience Mike and team have been professional, great communicators, fair on the pricing, and quick on the turnarounds. And while we have serviced several makes and models from Pontiac to Toyota, the shop really shines when you have a VW or Audi issue and Mike specializes in some of the quirky issues unique to some of those models. He has been great! I dont understand the harsh reviews.

Great first visit. My car was having misfire problems and another venue told me to replace all 4 of my ignition coils. I called around to get a few estimates from local shops. Then I spoke with Nick from Holman. Not only was their price the best, but he also better informed me that I do not need to get that much service done.In the end, only 1 of my ignition coils was bad. I only got the services done that my car needed. They got it taken care of very fast, and they were very nice to work with.

I really like the folks at Holman. I SO wanted to give these guys a great review but I cant. Our 2010 Forester threw a rod back in June and we had it towed to Holman, a local shop with a good reputation. We knew that the vehicle would be rendered useless if we didnt replace the engine, so we opted for a low mileage used engine imported from Japan. Except that we didnt get that. Our mechanic let it slip that they used a rebuilt engine, shipped in from California. I dont immediately consider that to be a major issue except that we had to bring it back numerous times to remedy a stubborn check engine light that stayed on. Holman had our Forester for a total of about SIX weeks, until late October when we moved out of the area. We were both working full time jobs, which made it difficult to be without a vehicle for so long. We never received an actual itemized list of what they tried, other than an occasional verbal one. They did seem frustrated with the situation too, but unable to solve the issue.We brought the vehicle to a shop in our new town that dug deeper and found bad components in the rebuilt engine. They were replaced with OEM parts by our new local repair shop. After five months and several hundred additional dollars, the engine is now running smoothly and there are no CEL’s lighting up our dash.I returned to Holman to inform them of this and gave them a copy of my repair invoice. I asked for partial compensation for an incomplete job that had cost us thousands. Mike Holman said he was unable to do that. According to him, Engine World would have replaced the faulty parts or even the entire engine- but that ship has sailed. He stated that he was done doing business with Engine World, which does not help me at all.In conclusion, I believe that our repair job was beyond Holmans capabilities and it was a big disappointment when they did not stand behind their work

Our entire family has had Mike Holman and his team work in our cars (domestic and Imported) for more than 20 years. He’s always been honest and fair with each of us. He gets our work done quickly and we know it’s done right the first time. THATS why we always call Mike when something is wrong or for just general maintenance. It gets done correctly the first time. There are six of us in our family and none of us have ever had a negative situation with him in 20 years. Mike has always exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Mike to work on your domestic or import vehicles. He knows his stuff! I think Holmans Auto shop is one of Eden Prairie‘s best kept secrets!! Highly recommend!!

This shop Mike and his rookie son that works with him are both dishonest, they do a horrible work, have the worst customer service in the world! They forgot to tighten and put the screw back together that holds the engine up right! So every time I stopped or changed gears the engine would shake because they didn’t tighten the screw! I DID NOT have a good experience and DO NOT recommend this garage.I know this review is lengthy, but your money deserves to be spent well, so please give it a read.Me being a car guy, i have knowledge of cars, and especially the one i gave in, so let that credential allow you to confidently believe in this review as i dont want anyone to get ripped off.I wish i believed the fake reviews because they proved to be correct.I went there a couple months ago for a transmission job. I was greeted well, and first impressions were good. I trusted the mechanics there at first.Soon, i could see they were HIDING things. I asked when i could have my car worked on. I was given a date. I went and parked the car in the parking lot as instructed and was told it would be pulled in that night.The car was there for a while, a week or longer. I was trying to talk to them, but they were evasive.Holman was EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH. Whenever trying to ask him questions he would just say yea, oh yea. Nothing he said was adding any input into the conversation. He was completely disinterested from the start.The other mechanic, Nick, was also hard to work with. Talking to him face to face, he was really nice and informative (beware of false info, if you tell them you dont know much about cars, THEY WILL LOOT YOU), but that was just his fake side. He was constantly changing things, keeping me out of the loop, ignoring, and lying to me.When i stepped into their shop, it was completely dirty, there were parts everywhere all over the ground; it proved quite a task to just walk around. The lack of cleanliness hardly hinted towards productivity, and since they work by the hour, that means more money coming out of your pocket.When my car was finally being worked on, it took so very long to get anything done. Since i was spending a good amount of money on my car there, i checked on it regularly. Every time i went, it was in the exact same position with nothing new done to it. It continued like that for weeks.It took a great deal of work and struggle to get the job done.They said at the beginning that they would give me a discount as i am a young guy, but we got to the final check and nothing was discounted. You CAN NOT TRUST THEM.Also, THEY TOOK A PART OF MY EXHAUST OFF AND DIDNT EVEN TELL ME, after a couple days and looking under the car i found out.I also gave a fuel filter to be put in, and he said he did. When i checked the fuel filter a couple weeks later because i suspected it was clogged, it was the exact same one. I tried to contact them, saying i wanted my part back, no response. I never did get that part back as i stopped trying, so i dropped another 5-10 dollars on a filter.Overall, i would recommend trying to find more genuine mechanics at other garages.I have been to many shops now, but i struggle to find a one with trustworthy, interested staff and fair costs. But there may be some out there, and it is worth some research.Of course if you pay a lot, you can get anything done, even here, but that is your decision. I am not telling you to not give them business, just beware if you do.Hopefully this persuaded your decision to give your car into this garage, and hopefully, even if they say this is a fake review, you will believe what was said above.

We have used Holman Automotive for many years. Our experience has been great. I have to admit that his shop is not like dealerships. They charge less and dont do unneccessary repairs. Unlike a dealership they dont have a very clean or organized looking shop but it seems to work. Their scheduling leaves a bit to be desired because of how busy they are. People who call them dishonest only have to look at the majority of the reviews and how busy they are to realize those negative reviews are either phony or are being made by someone who has unreasonable expectations. Mike has been in business for 22 years in a strip mall that has seen numerous other auto repair shops come and go. Obviously he is someone who is in it for the long run. Someday he will retire and there will be a lot of tears from his many long term customers.

Disappointed, this place just sucks!!! Bad customer service, bad job done on my truck. Also my brakes they told me the brakes were changed and good to go. I checked my car brakes still my old brakes were attached and on there. Shocked 😮 There very dishonest folks! One thing I know is never go back there that’s for sure. They lost a customer for life!

I have been taking all of my vehicles to Mike for nearly 20 years. As most other reviewers have said he is hands down the most honest mechanic in town. Take your cars here from St Paul even, it will be worth your while in savings. He has returned our cars with less than expected charges, sometimes even no charge if the repair was not needed or there was a simple adjustment. He is not looking to recoup every minute of his time, only to stick it to the big corporate repair shops that mark everything up based on make/model. I would love to tell you about my experience but after talking to some one twice during the week and confirming that I had to show up by 7:30 am no one was there. I waited twenty minutes and still no one. I ended up calling another local automotive care specialist and was on my way with my car fixed by 9:00 am. Still do not know when they actually showed up nor did I call to find out. I use to own my own businesses for 23 years and not once did I ever show up late or not open on time.

The head mechanic really needs to work on his customer service skills and learn how to verbally follow up with his customers.

By recommendation from a coworker we decided to use Holman to get a tune up. Had an appointment for Tuesday and was confirmed they could do the work. To make it easy for Holman we dropped off the car on Monday at 4 pm. Mechanic confirmed verbally that the car would be complete on Tuesday. Needless to say called Tuesday at 4pm and they had yet to look at it and said it would be done by 3:30 on Wednesday. Went to pick up on Thursday 9 am car was not done and had a bullshit excuse that his employee did get to it. No call to let us know. Told us they were too busy. No customer service, no care of others time!👎👎👎👎👎

Listen to the one reviews, especially Vikram K. who clearly described how bad of an experience you’ll get with this shop, especially the “yeah, oh yeah” misdirection. The dishonesty is repugnant, they’ll say they will work on your car in a day or two just to find out they started doing it way later. I wish there was a way to report the shop to some association. Not worth the time!!!

MIke takes care of my Mercedes Benz as it is his own. He repairs rather than replaces with expensive parts.He wont do anything that it is unnessary, why fix when it is running fine. Last but not least he is fair, honest and has very affordable charges, Wont go anywhere else, try him out and find for yourself that he does a good job for a fair price. Ram

I am very disappointed with holman automotive. It took me over a year to post this because Im not that type of person, but Im tired of getting ripped off by mechanics. I brought my jeep in over a year ago and he said the problem was my pitman arm along with a rear seal and I trusted he knew what he was doing. I do remember he had no help and was by himself. I picked it up later that afternoon and I got it back worst then when I brought it in. It shakes out of control when Im driving of speeds 50mph or more and its so bad that I have to pull over if I can or stop in the lane Im in and I will tell you its extremely dangerous as I have almost cause a major accident on hwy169. I did call him on this the next day and he just is so rude and wont take responsibility for this. I have grand children that ride in my jeep and god forbid anything happens to them he will be responsible. Also I noticed he responds to the good rating reviews, but could care less about the ones he screwed over. Thanks for nothing!!!!
