Great food, bread, and beer. I came here with a friend. The server brought fresh and warm bread to start. The bread was really good. I had the Portuguese steak for dinner. It was really good. The fries were fresh. We had a good time. It was a little noisy. I think there was an event going on, so music was a little loud. I will definitely come back.

I Come here all the time, I love the environment, the owner is always involved and pleasant. I went there for dinner last night and had the octopus. I must say a thousand stars to the chef... the octopus was to die for! I love octopus and I am extremely picky when it comes to it and I am impressed.

My wife and I had many meals at the Rivera Restaurant when Joe own it and had a great meal and excellent services. Today April 14 2021 we order take out .I order a rare steak and got it well done. and the portions were smaller. The Rivera Restaurant has surly gone down hill. We miss u Joe. Dont waste your money it not the same

Honestly if youre on the fence about ordering Portuguese food from a place outside of fall River Massachusetts, do not hesitate to try riveria. This was probably the best Portuguese cuisine I have ever tasted . Alot of places try to duplicate authentic recipes and terribly fail. This place is as good as the islands. I dont think Ill ever drive down to fall River or new Bedford again. Shrimp was awesome. Bachalo even better

This is my first review to ever make. Called the restaurant to place a Togo order. Ordered 2 apps and 2 entree’s, one of them being the stuffed cod. I needed to know what was in the seafood stuffing and was told by the staff member that neither her nor the manager knew what is in the stuffing. That they would have to ask the kitchen but they were to busy to tell us. So I canceled my order because I should be able to know what I’m about to eat. Very unprofessional and were insisting on why I needed to know.

Very disappointed with how the food was. Overcooked, dry, and burnt underneath. Not to metion i ordered one bowl of soup n i got charged for two! Poor service. It almost seems like my two pizzas were done way before the 30 mins i was told.I was recommend this place and this pizza specifically. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and this past Sunday my wife and I decided to order takeout for us and my daughter and her boyfriend.I called, said I wanted to place an order for pickup and was put on hold. One minute later Im hung up on. I call back and say again that I would like to place an order for pickup. And the girl who answered the phone replies yea were not taking any orders were to busy and hangs up on me. Really ? Even if thats true, there is way to deliver that message, being apologetic and with empathy. Done going there. 👎

Just recently ordered 2 chicken Mozambique dinners, they are not what was ordered, they grilled some chicken an poured a bit of sauce on it. Still going to eat it because its not worth the effort. Just very disappointed since Ive gotten the Mozambique dinner before there an it was really good, this not it really isnt.

Decided to call ahead of time to see if i needed to make reservations. They toldme, no just come in. There’s no line. I get there in less than 10 mins and they told me the wait is 30 mins. I told them I just called and they told me no line. We waited. Got our seats 30 minutes later. Waited for food for 2 hours. Found it strange but it was busy. So we gave it a few more minutes. Waiter comes to our table and ask us if we received our food yet. ????!??? Shouldn’t they know? Then toldUs, they put a rush on it. 20 mins later. I lost my appetite. Food got there. Sliced potatoes dried from sitting out and egg was raw. So from a restaurant i use to rave about.... somehow lost its way. It’s gotten to big and over worked, that with it, hand in hand has lost it’s love for the food preparation and how its being served and respect of the people that keep them in business. I wish I could’ve left the opposite review bc i did once love the food. But over the years,... it’s been a downhill spiral.

Ive been coming here for years and lately Ive been back far more often than usual. Past experience was always a great night but food was hit or miss. Lately the food has simply been divine. Service was always great and lately its been FANTASTIC. The new owner was so attentive helping out tonight at every table. We say in the atrium type room and sung Happy Bday to 4 different tables of people celebrating Bdays (myself included). Mozambique pizza, bitoque, bacalauah, clams food galore an amazing dessert.

Good food, nice place and not really expensive. I think they dont have enough man power that makes the service bad. They have a bar and live band in there. Lot of parking space available

My son and I decided to enjoy some Portuguese food like the last time. The food was great so we went again...there was nobody but us until a party of 6 came in and within minutes they were so loud we asked to move to another table. We waited for the food to come in and they got even louder. Drinking wine and beer like they were in their own kitchen. So loud we could not hold a conversation. I told the manager for a quieter place but nothing. We are our food and left. The food was good as usual but the experience may have been the worst in my life hence the one star. Just awful. I told the manager and the only thing she was saying is “sorry”. They may have been more money with a table of 6 drinking alcohol but they lost my business. It will be a long time before I step foot in this place again.

First time. Wont be my last. Was visited by Joe, the owner. He came to welcome us to his restaurant. We talked and he suggested octopus. With that, I ordered it and it was nothing short of amazing. The wait staff was extremely professional and very attentive. I am amazed at how well that place is run. Throughout the night I watched Joe visit many tables to check on things, as well as ours several times. Pricing was very reasonable, probs were ample. This needs to be a on your restaurant bucket list.

Came for dinner Saturday Jan 18 for my birthday. Food was great service from Matthew was awesome, the only down fall was the hostess was not very friendly. Walked in to be seated and no hello or a smile, hostess looked miserable. If your a hostess you need to welcome and greet customers, I dont know if she is family or entitled but she is making that place look bad upon entering.. When we left no Thank you or have a good night nothing from her. Smile honey it helps.

Went last night. Food was great but our waiter sucked. And gratuity was included in our bill of 28$. We should have the right to choose how much we want to tip. I wouldve given him only 10$ his bus boy was nicer and more efficient than him. So heads up yall they include tip in your bill.

Obviously we are all going through some hard times. All my food was burnt. Rice under cooked. My wife text me when I was on the way home... Dont worry about dinner, she had a suprise! She has ordered take out from this place ... To my surprise... My 13 daughter could have prepared a better meal than this tonight. I really want to give this one star.

My family and I have been going here for years always had a good experience. Friday I ate there order stuffed fish delicious. If your looking for some good Portuguese food this the place. Try the shrimp pizza highly recommend.

At first I was a little upset we drove 25 min to pick up our food drove home to find out its the wrong order. We called them and they remade the order and delivered it! They also added in an extra dish to make up for the mess up. That is QUALITY service 💜

Spent a couple of hours there for my sons graduation. The Portuguese food was average. The selection was okay but the taste wasnt. Flavor was lacking. The meat was dry. The room we were in was very cold. I wore my winter coat over my legs the entire time. The room next to us was very warm because it was heated with a pellet stove. I will not return here again.In response to the restaurants reply, if you knew that room is cold, why did you put us out there? I noticed another banquet room that appears to be indoors.

Food is delish...bartender Jr is very good at what he does. He is all about service and also very sweet. Kitchen seems to be a bit slow these days but...not enough to deter me from eating there!

Currently sitting in your restaurant at 9:04 PM. We are here as a pass threw for our anniversary dinner. We probably picked a bad day as a wedding reception is currently in progress. So far we waited about 30 minutes for a seat. A larger party of six was given seat preference over us. We ordered an appetizer and surprisingly it came out very prompt. Right after we got our cold table bread dropped off. My drink glass has been empty now for about 20 minutes. One guy came to gather the appetizer dish when we were done with them but never offered more drinks. Poor service on even a busy day.The food came out. Based on the above i was going to rate them as a three star. But well then our food came out. The broccoli was ice cold, mashed potatoes were slightly warmer. Stuffer scrimp was cold ( i think out of the ocean it would have been warmer). Steak was barely warm. Only positive news they at least cooked the steak they way we ordered it.

Never!! Have I ever had a Paella like this!!! Ive had it at spains...at Medieras and they cant compare to Riverira s!!!! Not to mention how inexpensive it was ...order for 2...got enough for 4!! And the delivered it to me at 8:45!! They were closing!! AND...not to mention the sweet young man who delivered it!!! Soo impressed...Im suggesting to everyone I know to order it!!! I drive by the restaurant and always wanted to try it. I got to sample the food at the Looff Carousel food and wine pairing event. They served big fluffy scallops. I was so excited to try it. Ended up with a mouthful of sand. Scallops were not edible. Incredibly disappointing. Never going to the restaurant.

Went for lunch about 1-1:30 and only a few people were dining, so service was quick and very attentive. Food was excellent. Portions large. Menu is Portuguese with everything from chicken to beef to seafood. Prices very reasonable.

I normally go here for family events. Today i was in the mood for something different and since i havent had Riviera in a long time id give it a go. WRONG MOVE. I called to place a order for take out 3 items. My wife picks up the food and when we get home they were missing one of the orders. The other one was made incorrectly. I called them to let them know. I guess if i wanted my food cooked Portuguese style i need to request it. If i wanted American food i would have ordered pizza. NEVER AGAIN will i go here. The American chicken was gross. Good thing there are other PORTUGUESE restaurants in East Providence.

Went to a retirement party 🎉 this evening. The food was excellent. The staff was great. The other patrons were very nice also. Had a small musical band, they were great.

Food was really good, however well never go back. Our server Sandy was easily top three worst servers Ive ever had. I understand people can have a bad night, though Id never risk it with a second trip. There are better restaurants to visit where you can have a far greater experience.

I eat here literally all the time. I could say that 5/7 times that I have been there, my food has been amazing. I always order the grilled octopus and you can usually tell whether or not the same chef is cooking it because sometimes its perfect and sometimes its just good. The braised short rib special is phenomenal. Although, it isnt on the menu all the time, I wish it was. I always just order from the specials menu.. then, one time I ate and order the paella for 2 to share and the seafood was bad.. the squid was obviously frozen and the lobster was bad, it had an awful smell and taste and made me sick that night. ALTHOUGH, the majority of the time it is really good food, it just takes a little to come out.

I came here for a family dinner for my great-grandmothers birthday. The food was bad and they gave us one waiter for a large group. I would not reccomend this place if you have any more than 6 people. They gave us automatic 18% gratuity tax but provided no more service than theyd give a single table.

I went to Riviera on a Saturday afternoon with my wife and two friends. We asked for a table of four, and told the waiter that we were waiting on a friend. In the meanwhile, we ordered appetizers and the waiter continually asked us when we were ready to order. Our friend had not arrived yet, and we kept telling him to wait until the friend arrived. Granted, I could understand if we were holding up restaurant business, but the restaurant was empty. And, our friend only took about half an hour to arrive.When my friend did show up, we ordered Paella. It was awful. The cheap, fake crab meat tasted like wet, mushy flour, and the rice was greasy, undercooked, and entirely misflavored.The waiter came to ask us if we wanted more to drink. We had kept the drinks coming steadily, and it seemed that he wanted us now to start on his wine list. I looked at the wine list, but there werent any wines I recognized. We decided to continue with what we were drinking. This decision apparently bothered the waiter, who decided that he would appeal to each of us individually almost insisting that we try his wine. I felt like we had just entered a pawn shop, because at that point it was all about sales.The drinks we ordered after we turned down the wine came dirty and watered down. They were served in dirty glasses, and black specks were floating in the drinks.When we left, I looked back at the restaurant and the waiter was staring at us through the window. It was creepy. The food was bad. The service was bad. The experience was awful. I will never eat here again.

Attended a post funeral colation at Riviera Restaurant and the food was spectacular. The room that we were in was perfect for the size for the gathering, lots of windows along with natural light helped create a comfortable setting. But as I said the food was excellent, fresh and tasty.

Had my baby shower brunch here. Food was good and service was prompt and courteous. I would go back.

Last night was very bad. Waitress Sandy came get our orders, left and did not return to us until after we started eating which the food came out to us after 1 hour and luke warm only. We spent a good two hours at the restaurant.

I can summarize the experience in one word, unsafe. It is unsafe to eat at this establishment. They completely disregarded my moms food allergy and wasnt able to tell us whether or not her food was safe for her to eat. Another plate was steak that had not cooked enough. They took it back and threw the same steak on the grill and brought it back out. Ladies and gentlemen, had that steak been bitten or touched, it was now on the grill that others food was cooked on. Disgusting. We were too weary to eat our food and the manager barely tried to make amends. Please do not take your family here.

Ive ate here a couple of times and have been to some fun parties years ago. I was there a couple weeks ago and the food was decent, but our waiter was a older guy and not once did he come back to the table to offer more drinks or ask how the food was until i called over another waiter to ask where he was.

Came in to get salad and calamari rings. The food very fresh and bread is delicious for dipping in sauce. My friend got scrimp Mozambique was awesome.

Disappointing. It seems to get worse every time I eat here. The last time I was here it took almost an hour before the waiter even took our order and we had to ask for bread after waiting forever. The food was just okay. Some things here have been tasty, but more often than not Ive been disappointed. Any other Portuguese restaurant in town is better.

I mostly have appetizers to share with friends and theyre all amazing. When I have a dinner its always the pork and clams (carne alentajana i think) and its the best in east providence. The pork is always tender which, for some reason, the other places cant get right.

The food was great when we finally got it. Waited 2 hours for our food. People that was waiting for there food got up and left!

Remedial, Portuguese restaurant. The food is authentic but, it pales due its unprofessional staff, lack of atmosphere with its drop ceilings and 70s motif, mold on the bathroom walls that is old enough to vote. No thank you. The place stays in business because, its light on the wallet. Note: If your date takes you here, dont go on a second date.

Service was unattentive. Calamari was a little chewy and the batter was overcooked and lacking flavor. The stuffing for the stuffed mushrooms also had a texture like play sand and lacked flavor. Filet mignon was at least tender but shrimp that I ordered with it again had the gritty stuffing covering them. Wont be eating here again.

Took days to get the order in. Left email then called 3 days later when it was ignored. Make it a point to tell them to disregard email. They call 2 days later to confirm internet order.?? Should have been my warning bell. Order fried fish only. I get the other fish with fish sauce handed to me after waiting 15 mins for an order set for a 1pm pickup and told its not ready yet?? 150 dollars later I will NEVER use them again.
