Best mechanics in the area, Great prices, Very honest compassionate owner. I have been using Gibraltar for years and after I moved away I tried a few shops local to my new house but was not pleased with the service I was receiving so whenever I need work done Im willing to take the trip to Gibraltar to save from the stress and headaches or lies Ive encountered elsewhere. I highly recommend them to everyone I know.

I had a rather complicated transmission problem. The complication came from dealing with an extended warranty company. Gibraltar not just changed my transmission professionally but they also worked diligently with the warranty company which added a lot of extra work on to them. If it wasnt for CC, Steve and their technicians, I may still dont have my transmission replaced. They go above and beyond. You can trust them with any job, small or large they will take care of you like you are family. Friendly, knowledgeable people who are in business to serve you the best they can.

Cannot say enough great things about the staff at Gibraltar! Cici at the front desk is so sweet and funny - after a long day of driving to pick up my brother who broke down on the GSP, Cici truly made us feel welcome. Steve is great and upfront, and the prices are the best I’ve ever seen. Even though the lot was completely full, he was so kind to fix my brother’s car in under 2 hours. He saved my brother the hassle of renting a car for work. I wish I didn’t live far away I would 100% go to Gibraltar for my car repairs.

I had my car towed here when I thought I had a transmission issue. They told me it was a much less serious issue. They ordered the parts and had the car fixed in a day. They were honest and efficient. This is the second time I had a car fixed here. Both times they told me the fix was much less than I had been led to believe by other people.

I came to this place just because it was kind of local and had good reviews but after being back and forth to this place I can tell that electrical issues are not their strong suit.I originally came to get my sunroof fixed because it wouldnt close, they fixed that but on the way home my car alarm started going off WHILE IM DRIVING, (which also may have led to a short in my battery). Then my battery died, I brought a new one from them and still my car wouldnt start. I took it back them to find the short, then it worked for a day and wouldnt start again 😡... the extra star is for good customer service

Taking my car to get serviced at a dealership or other auto body shop used to be something that I would put off for as long as I could because I truly despised interacting with almost all mechanics/service people. Majority of the time Id be spoken down to or taken advantage of for not being able to understand my cars problems.I came across Gibraltar who had amazing reviews and decided to try them out for an oil change. I was not disappointed in the least bit. I called ahead to make sure they had availability for me that day and they were able to accommodate me. Everyone I encountered was exceptionally friendly and professional. Of course, other problems came up during the oil change. But they went out of their way to fully explain what the issues were - going so far as to take me to my car that was on the lift to show me. And the price for it all was very affordable.Overall, super pleased I found them. As long as I live in this area, Ill never go anywhere else.

Steve the manager, owner was great at Gibraltor. Before meeting steve, I did an oil change with an auto shop on Ryders lane Miltown near target. I was told that my rear passenger side struts are leaking oil and I must replace them on my 2011 honda accord. I was given quote after an oil change for $697 by the same auto shop on Ryders lane Miltown. I approached couple other auto leading shops by NJ 18. They quoted around $700 and $1100. After meeting Steve at GIBRALTOR, they looked at the vehicle and found that there is no oil leak and I saved entire cost of replacing the struts as GIBRALTOR did NOT even CHARGE PENNY for this service. I recommend to get atleast second opinion at GIBRALTOR for your auto issues.

Steve is a man of his word. He told me he would not do anything to my car without letting me know first. He did a complete evaluation, it turned out to be a minor fix and only cost me a fraction of what I was expecting to have to pay.Im very glad I went to Gibraltar. I live 15 miles away from the shop but it was so worth the trip and I will make the trip every time I need to with no problem. If not for Steve and his mechanics, I would have more than likely been taken advantage of. Its been a long time coming that I write this review. This is the BEST mechanic shop in the area. HANDS DOWN. I trust them 100% with my cars. Ive never had such honest, down to earth, funny, and willing to go the extra mile to help their customers. They are truly amazing. I suggest this mechanic shop to everyone I know in the area.Though the suggestions might mean fewer open spots for me to take my car in, Ill take it if it means other people can experience the amazing service I do everytime I take my car in. He also gave me a completely honest evaluation of my car. It turned out that I did not need any other work done at this time.Johan was professional, honest and a real pleasure to work with. No pressure regarding the oil change (I chose the less expensive option) and no pressure to do any other work on the car.Excellent service! Thank you very much!

This is the 2nd time weve used Gibraltar/Steve car care. His mechanics are top of the line!! I love this shop, he doesnt make problems he only solves them. I was without power in my home for 5 days due to the storm, my car broke down on the 3rd day,my only means of air conditioning.Steve and his crew got my car right in and had it repaired the very next day,and on top of that was more than fair on the price.Ive been in situations before where I had been stuck with no car, and other mechanics had taken full advantage and burned me bad. Steve would never do that. He is honest and dependable and his crew are master mechanics. So worth the 30 mile drive.Gibraltar is #1

These guys went above and beyond with my one ton conversion van that is also my home. I had my radiator blow on the NJ turnpike, and got a tow to them as seemingly the best in the nearby area. The first time the guy stayed late to get us on the road that night. Afterwards, Steve called to check in on us and invited me to come in for a look over before our trip home. I chose to return the next week to check/fix various things (including my rear differential which is not an easy fix) before driving all the way back to Florida. (gf was moving out of nyc/get the stuff mission). I was even more impressed the second visit! I could not be more pleased with both of the mechanics who worked on my rig and their attention to detail. The second visit the mechanic showed me a damaged part, but he could fix it, left work to take it to his own home where he had a metal lathe and repaired it! Also caught another mechanics poor work on a break line, and fixing it with all this extra service being included within the original quote! They really took care of us, and I felt genuine concern for our well-being even though we arent from around here. These guys get all the stars!

This is one of the most honest car repair places that I have ever been to. I brought my truck here thinking that it needed transmission work. I had already been to one of the nationally known transmission repair places and was given an estimate in the area of $1500. This business is run mike a Mom & Pop organization, with integrity, transparency, and ethical business practices. It’s hard to trust your car shop today (especially if you are a female), but this is not in any way a concern at this facility. Would rate this business a 10, if it were possible. Kudos!

Update: yesterday they said the part would be in today but it’s now not coming until tomorrow. I get that the supplier is not in Gibraltar’s control but their misinformation has really been a little ridiculous. Now have to wait for a service to be done 2-3 days after I already was charged for it._______________Fair prices and nice people but honestly annoyed by their operations. I brought my car in for replacement of one part. I knew what was wrong and told them. I brought it in one morning right when they open and ask them if they had time to look at it. The guy said sure no problem we will call you once we look at it. I never heard from them and then when I called they said they would call me back as the mechanic was on lunch break. I still never heard back and then when I went there at the end of the day they had never looked at the car and told me they didn’t have time. Understandable that they are busy but they could have said so. I went back a second time with an appointment and they said they would look at it. I went back at the end of the day thinking that the work was done according to a conversation I had with them earlier in the day. I went I got my car I paid and then on the drive home they called me saying that they had to order the part and that nothing was done that day(I give them some credit for that honesty). I now have to go back a third time for a service that I already paid for but was not done. They should have told me on the first day if they did not have time to look at it. And the second time they should have told me ahead of time that they need to order the part and that it did not come in that day. They should not have charged me for a service that was not done yet .

Honesty saved me thousands! Ive done a lot of car repairs, even major engine work, over the last 50 years. When my engine would not turn even with a long breaker bar on the crankshaft nut I believed the engine was seized. I spoke to Steven, the owner, about having a used engine installed and had the car towed to his shop. I was surprised and relieved to be informed that the problem was a seized alternator.and repair was literally thousands less than I expected. I believe that the large number of positive reviews on this shop are very well deserved.

Steve is a gem! We have been coming to him for our worst car troubles for years. He gets an A from us for integrity and wonderful smiling service. I came once with my three boys all under 7 years of age and he was kind enough to drive us to the park to wait while he worked on our van. Then he came to pick us up! And more than once he proved a few other mechanics to be liars fixing what others quoted for thousands, for only a few hundred dollars. It has been a while since we have needed Steve but we are still sending all our NJ friends and family to him. (We just had our nephew tow his car there tonight!). Live forever Steve! We need more mechanics like you.

I have little understanding of car repairs. For years I had been going to the Midas shop in Edison, on Route 1. Everytime I had brake issues, I was told I needed the rotors to be replaced, along with the pads. Was shown the rotors and shown why it was needed, not that I had any idea if they were being honest with me. After reading the reviews of Gibraltar, I decided to give them a try. Needed pads, but was told, the rotors were fine. Was pleasantly surprised. With respect to the other work since my first visit, I couldnt be happier. Last year, the axle on my car broke. Its a terrible feeling to hear a loud clunk and then have your car be totally immobilized! Steves team had it fixed and ready to go quickly and for a very reasonable price. When I brought my car into the Honda dealership for a recall repair recently, I was told my control arm bushings needed to be replaced, and it would cost $600+ plus an alignment. I thought I should bring my car back to Gibraltar Transmissions to get their opinion. Not only did they have my car up in the air within 10 minutes of my calling to inquire about having them take a look, I was informed that my car did not in fact have a serious issue, and that it was perfectly safe to simply monitor in the course of my cars regular maintenance. They brought me in to have a look under the car for myself, so I knew exactly what was going on. Within minutes, I was back on my way.I cant recommend them enough.

I went to Gibraltar after having gone to Midas to have them diagnose the cause of several check engine codes on my 2003 Acura MDX. Midas charged $112 for the scan, and then recommended changing the 4 o2 sensors for $1100, just to see if this would remedy the codes.I called Gibraltar and spoke to Steve. He told me to bring it by and to have them look at it, as they dont charge to scan the car, and he suspected I was being ripped off. Turns out I was. The car simply needed another fuse. Steve charged me $50 to diagnose the problem. Would recommend them to anyone for their honesty and competence.

Steve, the owner at Gibraltar Transmissions really makes customers and potential customers feel comfortable. I contacted him after an unpleasant experience at the AAMCO nearby. Steve never actually did business with me, but explained things to me that the AAMCO failed to do, and confirmed for me the price range of the work that was done, showing me that the AAMCO did not rip me off, but simply had bad bedside manners, and questionable legal standing. In the future, while I strongly hope my car will never need that kind of maintenance again, Steve has my business and my referrals (note: he does more than just transmissions too!). I strongly encourage Steves customers to write Yelp and Google reviews for this business, so that Gibraltar Transmissions will have more online visibility than other places in this area. (Yelp, and possibly Google, considers it a conflict of interest for him to ask his customers to write a review, so Im doing it: Write a review!!)

I have no idea how good they are with transmissions. I went there suspecting transmission problem. They failed to diagnose one of the trouble codes. Since they had no clue, they did a tune-up which required removal of the intake manifold. That was costly, but they failed to notice that the manifold was faulty as well. So I basically ended up throwing away $800+ spent on the repair. Then they stopped returning calls. I would stay away from them.

Took my 07 matrix to a Ammco shop when engine light went on and i could feel the physical problems on the transmission when driving. All Ammco is telling me that the transmission needs to rebuild because of the problem and it will cost $2200+ to get it done. I have my doubts not because they dont do a good job on rebuilding a transmission but dropping $2,200.00 on a 07 matrix with 200,000s miles on it.So I start searching for another shop, after reading reviews on both Yelp & Google I found this shop and decided to give a shot. Let me tell you it is a good choice I bring my car to these guys. Took my car in on Friday, meet with the owner and after going through the diagnose and trouble shoot, Im told and shown that the OBD-II code is on solenoid wires, and this could be just the problem but cant be 100% until actual physical work is done on the transmission. They couldnt work on my car right away because they are fully commit to cars that are already in the shop until next Monday. Since my experience in the shops are great, going through the diagnose process, a tour in the shop and the wall of shame(where comparison between other shops quotes to their actual invoices who bring their cars over). I left my car at the shop for them to perform repairs.End result, $400.00 bill for transmission repair on 4 wires to the SLT Solenoid, plus $150 labor for front brake pads, front brake rotor and serpentine belt replaced (I provide the parts). Leaves me very satisfy with the choice I make to bring my car over. This place is the best auto shop Ive encounter in my recent memory, they dont throw in big words to scare you or replace part where not needed. They fix where is needed and charges you a reasonable price for their service.

I cannot thank Steve and his team enough. About a year ago, I started to have transmission issues with my 9 year old VW even though it only had 64k miles. I immediately took it to my local VW service department and the total for the repairs - over $8K! Needless to say, I walked out of VW and started to call local shops. I finally called Steve and from the very start the service was great. He immediately knew I didnt need a new transmission and asked if I could bring the car in. He and his team spent about 2 hours with my car to diagnose the issue (VW took minutes and charged almost $100!). After the repairs, which included a new tire, I paid slightly less than $2k! It has been almost year and I still couldnt be happier with the service. If you are looking for an honest local shop that will only charge you for the services you actually need, please contract Steve. Thanks again!

I would like to express a horrible experience I had with Gibraltar Complete care in East Brunswick NJ. I brought my 2010 Mercedes GL450 to them on 1/28/2016 and after 13 days of repeated calls to inquire about my car and numerous excesses they gave me a diagnostics that was completely wrong. The car had ABS problems accompanied by a single gearshift only in first. They removed the front seat and checked circuit relays to conclude that I needed a speed sensor control valve body in witch they couldn’t even fix.The estimated fix would have been around $2500.00. They indicated that Mercedes wouldn’t sell the parts. Thank God. After I paid $347.75 for nothing I picked up the car and took it directly to AAMCO in East Brunswisk at 5PM and within two hours had a complete different experience. The correct diagnostics was a wheel bearing was bad causing the abs sensor to be damaged. The vibration and damaged sensor was causing the transmission not to shift as a safety measure. I also needed new breaks and calipers to allow proper completion of the problem. The total fix was $2200.00 the repairs were out of my budget as most are. Peter Fiorentino helped me get financing and helped turn this whole experience around. I would like to express a huge thank you to Peter Fiorentino and the AAMCO team for their professionalism.

After 35 years of driving around New Jersey in close to a dozen different vehicles, this past Saturday was the first time I had ever experienced a vehicle with a transmission issue. I didnt feel comfortable taking it to my normal mechanic, since even though I knew they did do transmission work, I was considerably skeptical if they were the best people to entrust my beloved 2002 Saturn SC2 to. I needed to quickly find someone who was an expert in repairing transmissions, but wasnt a shyster and would rob me of my hard earned chingy ching. That same afternoon it was suggested I contact Gibraltar Transmissions, now located on Cranbury Road in East Brunswick. When I did get home in my poorly shifting Saturn, I looked them up on the Internet and sure enough there was a video on their website of the owner himself, Steven, pitching his services. I watched the video and immediately felt a sense of calm that if nothing else, this guy seemed like a knowledgeable Pro when it came to fixing transmissions. On the website there is also a prompt to call a 1-800 number to speak to him immediately. Even though it was late on a Saturday afternoon, I figured Id take a shot and call the number. Much to my surprise, Steven answered! My jaw hit the floor, and once I had collected it and started to speak to Steven, I was confident that I found a good person to help me out in my troubling situation. There was a palpable sense of urgency to get this car fixed in a timely fashion, since I was scheduled for jury duty later on in the week and my significant other would need this car to get to the train station. Steven started diagnosing the problem on Monday, Tuesday he received the part, and by Wednesday afternoon my car was completely fixed and running better than ever! And the best part is I got the car back before I needed to have it for my jury duty obligation. Steven Zarky, in my book, is a bone fide life saver! When I went to speak to Steven on Tuesday at his clean, well maintained shop, he not only showed me some examples of how disreputable and shady other auto service centers are (it’s his “wall of shame”), he actually gave me a tour of the shop and introduced me to some of his experienced and friendly staff. Could it be that after 30 years of looking for a trusted partner in my quest to keep my vehicles running at top efficiency (Steven does ALL repairs, not just transmissions), I had found the guy that Id be going to for car repairs the rest of my life? Im here to tell you I did!So as someone who just three days ago was decidedly up a creek without a paddle, because I took my vehicle to Steven at Gibraltar Transmissions, Im back up and running and it feels like I didnt even miss a beat! I strongly urge anybody who has a vehicular vicissitude that has anything to do with the transmission, dont get snookered by the folks at the dealer or the insufferable counter guys at the Mr. Tire and Pep Boys of the world… Just go to Steven at Gibraltar Transmissions in East Brunswick and you can rest easy that you wont be taken advantage of and you’ll absolutely, positively be treated like a cherished customer. Ladies and Gentlemen, it doesn’t get any better than that!
