Music hall that is just wonderful after being renovated located on Dukes east campus. Sound and acoustics are incredible. Beautiful domed building and space. Seats are smallish but comfortable enough. Relatively small making for intimatel experience but sizable enough that it feels like real music hall.
Neat concert hall. Beautiful inside with wonderful acoustics. Located in an older, historic building. Parking to the hall was a bit of an adventure. Bathrooms are nice, but small, downstairs, and through a maze of well labeled twists and turns. I enjoyed the contrast of the historic building and modern concert hall.
Really amazing concert hall and performance area. I enjoyed coming here every time I had the opportunity to. Duke has done a great job with this building and it’s overall an amazing place to visit!
Built in 1927, renovated around 2014, this is an award-winning building that is just stunning in the quality of its interior design. Really, a welcoming and comfortable feel when you go in, due to the intimate scale of the space, as well as the remarkable and skillful use of wood in the acoustic structures. Attended a classical piano recital and could hear every note in pieces with wide dynamic range while sitting in the back row of the orchestra section.
I have performed at several concerts there, and it is a great space. I have also watched shows there and that is an even more enjoyable experience. The seats are comfortable and arrange to well. The building is old but beautifully designed. A great place to go ether your on the stage or watching a show.
A beautiful, historic old theatre on East Campus. Its been newly renovated and has wonderful acoustics. A great place to see your favorite musical acts. Duke attracts great talent.
Great acoustics and good line of sight from all areas of the auditorium! Like most auditorium venues, very close seats and no beverages available. (Not surprising to us, but FYI.) Arrive early to get close street parking, but be warned that you need to have a parking plan.
Clean and safe environment. Acoustics excellent. Easy access for Uber riders.
Great small venue on Dukes east campus. Free parking in the nearby lots during performances. Amazing sound and not a bad seat in the place.
I knew this venue pre-renovation when it was being used as a practice hall for the Duke wind symphony. At that time there was always the vague feeling that a chunk of the ceiling might fall in at any time. Ive seen two performances since the renovation. Its visually stunning, but more to the point, the sound is GOOD.
Acoustics are amazing. The auditorium is beautiful inside with elegant wood paneling that is contemporary and brings the sound alive.
Duke Jazz Band, great, really laid back. Auditorium sounds great
Baldwin Auditorium has wonderful acoustics, gorgeous design, and a convenient location. Staff were very friendly and helpful when I visited, seating was comfortable, and the experience was generally just a very pleasant one.
Great sounding auditorium. Parking is hard, esp. handicap. Far away.
Great acoustics but the blue lights are a bit over the top
Very nice auditorium compared to how it was when I was in undergrad there!
Nice intimate venue for concerts
This 685-seat venue on Duke Universitys East Campus is a true gem. Originally built in 1927 the auditorium was totally renovated in 2013. We were privileged to be invited to a performance of the Duke Medicine Orchestra and were struck not only by the professionalism of the large, all-volunteer orchestra but by the layout, superlative acoustics and comfortable seating of this lovely venue. We arrived early and were rewarded with excellent front-row balcony seats which afforded wonderful sound and a perfect view of the orchestra. A prime location but I doubt there is a bad seat anywhere tin this auditorium..The only possible disadvantage to this facility is its location on a major university campus where parking can be a problem. There are maps online and a video showing a number of nearby parking areas.
The renovated Baldwin is a wonderful place to hear music - the sound is great almost everywhere, comfortable seating, and great Duke ushers :)
Acoustically sensational venue for piano and string chamber music concerts
Good place for a concert with excellent acoustics from any seat. Home for Duke Performances concerts series
My favorite concert venue in the Triangle, Meymandi may be larger & grander, but certainly not finer.
Great home style Food!
Beautifully decorated and wonderful sound
