Rude experience. Had bought from this place before and the guy was helpful and kind. Yesterday I checked the website (open) and called ‘we are open but assisting others’ before driving an hour and a half in the middle of the day. Was met at the door by a woman talking in close range to 5-6 others. She seemed confused by the interruption and asked what I needed. Explained I wanted to buy clay. ? There were boxes and bags within reaching distance. “Sorry, We aren’t open. We are moving. you can try Ceramica in Cary” “But I just drove from Wilson?.....” I was a little confused by and in the open doorway my mask had slipped down. “Please pull your mask up.” She says. I never made it into the door. Buying local, playing with clay at home, and general kindness are all good things. It would have taken minutes to update the website, apologize for the inconvenience, or hand me a few bags of clay for the cash in my pocket.

A special thanks to Mack for the incredible management of the office, general community culture and helpful website. A very positive environment and encouraging group. Mack offers great coaching and instruction. Definitely a. Judgement free space. A beautiful gallery upfront with strong rotating collections on reasonable offer. A lot of talent showcased here. Durham needs a whole lot more of this energy and initiative in order to grow forward into the 21st Century.

Cool community space for those interested in clay. Offers classes for all skill sets, in different methods of working with clay, and also offer open studio time for those who wants to do their own thing. Really supportive community.

A great escape where one can practice or learn to make pottery. All the tools you need and teachers too. A wonderful experience for the newbie to the art of ceramics or a great studio space for the experienced.

Great studio! Wonderful working space, knowledgable and friendly teachers. They also have a small clay supplies section... reasonably priced and stocked pretty well!

I take classes here and have for many years. Claymakers has a very large selection of clay and glazes (reduction and oxidation). They have 3 electric kilns, a gas kiln, a soda kiln, and a couple of raku kilns. There is a store with a wide selection of tools and underglaze, and of course, pottery. And of course, a gallery which is constantly mixing things up. The classes teach from raw beginner to all kinds of advanced classes, thrown and hand-built. There is a lot of open studio time to practice what you’ve learned. The instructors are great and the students friendly and having fun. If you’re interested in clay arts at all, come by and have a look.

Great place to take classes. Some of the folks there can be rude to newcomers, in that regard, DAC clay studio has friendlier people.
