Had the pleasure of meeting John today at his local shop in Durango, CO. I started my encounter with him through a phone call where he was happy to answer the start of my questions and said that he was at his shop and could meet me.. Let me say that he was so personable and friendly right off the bat. He greeted me with a handshake and smile. (His workshop is so cool! He has turned the conex shipping container into the coolest shop!) I poured out my novice skillset with leather crafting and hopes and dreams of future projects. He sat at his leather covered table and told me to pull up a chair pointing to the stool nearby. He pulled out bits of leather and explained with great detail the styles, types, cuts, sizes, uses, and so on of the leather he had. He talked of where I should start and how I can approach my own projects with the limited/no skill I have. We talked of sewing and stitching, of gluing and designing. He let me see his tools and gear close up.Overall, he is an awesome leather craftsman and a true inspiration! I wish I could rate more stars cause he deserves it! I will be purchasing and doing business with John in the future!
