Ive had a home receiver and digital piano repaired at Protech. They are knowledgeable and meticulous. Yes you have to let them take the unit apart, inspect and test it to determine what’s needed, as any competent electronics technician would do. Excellent service, fair pricing, honest, capable. I would highly recommend them

First time working with Protech, Ive had some unpleasant experiences at other repair shops here in Utah. Protech has been by far my best experience. I will be a returning customer.Dave was great to work with, he was responsive and communicated well over the course of the repair of my favorite stereo amplifier. If you want a shop that does good, timely work then come here.

I took my 40 year old Technics Turntable in for needle replacement (I purchased the replacement needle 35 years ago) and overall tune-up. I left a deposit and my turntable was ready in less than 2 weeks. The cost? $100 bucks. I dont know if that was a Good Value or not but Im happy with their work.

I do not understand the negative reviews of this company. So much so, I feel the need to post my first Google review to add my complimentary assessment to what I perceive to be incorrect impressions. I took a Sony ES receiver in for warranty work at their shop. I was checked-in and out the door in 5 minutes. They told me it would be 3-5 days before they could take a look at it. In 3 days, I received an email that my component was ready for pick-up. There was no drama, no problems, just courteous professional service. I would definitely recommend them and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Seriously after reading all of your poor customer support, I should start my own TV repair service. I already know I could fix every TV that comes in Faster and Cheaper. If I couldnt fix it there would be no charge. All people that are told they dont make the parts anymore, just look on Ebay and you will find it. Dont let these losers rip you off.

I had a 4 year old Sony television which wouldnt turn on. I did the troubleshooting with the Sony folks online. They referred me to Protech. I spoke to them telling them that the television wouldnt even boot up or turn on with the flashing red light and they said that it is still worth a 90$ visit to see if there was something else that could be done. The staff member who was very friendly walked through the door and said that there was nothing to be done. No further testing was even worth it as the mother board was shot. The individual on the phone could have told me the same thing and saved me 90$. Waste of time and money.Edit-3/17/2020-In response to the feedback from Protech provided recently-What you said about being unable to diagnose over the phone sounds like a policy, in this case the person over the phone could absolutely have made the same decision that the individual who visited made. He was told what the light was doing over the phone. The repairman looked at what the light was doing and immediately knew what was going on. This policy may be helpful in certain situations, but in this situation the policy wasted my time and money. It is a bad policy and I am suspicious that it is place to make your company money, which is not only a bad policy but an unethical policy. Rethink this policy as I will not use your company again.

I would like to give these guys the benefit of the doubt here but after reading other reviews I think I am in good company making this complaint. I have a couple TVs that have extended warranties on them the Store set up a service call from Protech to have them call and make an appointment with me. They sent a text having me make the appointment which was fine. When I called the woman on the phone said that the next appointment available was for the following Wednesday but that a Tuesday time might be available. She said she would call and tell me whether or not there would be a opening on Tuesday. I never heard back from her. The day of the scheduled visit I called about an hour after the time that I was given. I had to make time to meet the tech at my house for the appointment but when I called about when he should be showing up I found out that the woman forgot to put my name on the schedule. After giving me a run around about it she said she could try to schedule me for later in the day. Giving me a 4 hour window of time to wait. I didnt have time to waste the rest of my day waiting around for a possible no show plus the woman was not willing to listen that I wasnt going to make time later in the day and that I needed to make a new appointment. She put me on hold and after waiting a few minutes I figured she was just ignoring me so I hung up. I received a phone call about 5 minutes later from a man claiming to be the owner and the husband of the woman I spoke with. He proceeded to tell me that my service was cancelled. Believe me that was not something that upset me in the slightest. I contacted the store where I made my purchase and told them of the problem I had with Protech Electronics and ask if another company could come and service my TV. The store gave me another company to come and do the service. So much for thinking you are hurting me by cancelling my service call. And yes I will tell all my friends of the wonderful way you treat your customers.

Cancelled warranty repair based on reviews.Disclaimer: This review is based on my experience reading the reviews listed here, not based on direct contact with the company. We are working with LG on a warranty repair for our OLED tv. My experience with LG customer service has been stellar. They scheduled an on-site repair with Protech Electronics - an LG certified repair facility.I trust Google reviews - especially reviews from Local Guides like myself. Reviews are part of the complete repair experience and help us to select customer-centric and helpful repair facilities. We all want our electronics back in working order with minimal drama and fuss. Customer service is very important.Unfortunately, the reviews for Protech show a pattern of less than stellar customer service in our estimation. The reviews appear to be detailed and credible. Based on the reviews, we decided to call LG back and ask for an alternative repair facility. LGs excellent customer service provided an alternative repair store and said that they would investigate further.Protech will likely find this review unfair. Rather than replying to this review and complaining, we suggest that they look carefully at how they can improve their customer service - the best way to grow businesses in the digital era. We wish them all the best.

The first visit to my home was great, he was nice and instructed me that it might take two weeks for the parts to come in, I was ok with that. About a week later I got a call from their office the lady was not very friendly, and she told me that they would be able to fix it at my home, that is after she put me on hold to go ask the repair man. I said thats amazing. Then the next day the repairman came to my home and advised me he had to take the TV. I then called the shop and the same lady answered and tried to tell me I dont listen and thats not what she said. They proceeded to take the TV so it could be fixed. Then 28 hrs later they called and said it was done. That would be 7:00 p.m. the next day. He told me that he wouldnt be able to get it to me for two more days cause he has to be in Ogden in the morning. Not sure why you would call and tell somebody that they cant have there product till they get time.

I had a great experience with Protech. Our display had gone out on our Panasonic plasma TV that was about 3 years old. I called Protech, and they were very up front about the minimum charge for an estimate, as well as the difference in cost of me bringing it to them vs. them coming to me. They were also up front about the possible high cost of fixing the TV. I brought it in and within 2 days they had diagnosed the issue. They called back and told me it would be another $35 over the $65 minimum, and then had it done that day. They were very up front and nice, and communicated well through the holl process. I would recommend them to anyone.

This place is a absolute joke! I would not let them pay me to bring an electronic here. Main guy comes out when I came to ask if they could help with a unit, due to me being reffered from another electronic repair shop. He starts ranting on me for trying to let him know what could be wrong. I end up having to stop his rant and educated him on having some kind of customer service skills. He tells me well your not a customer. WOW! If you are thinking of having a repair done here I would think twice, I can only imagine how that would go. But since I am not a customer what do I know.

I was referred to Protech Electronics by Samsung customer support, when my Samsung TV recently broke. Originally I was scheduled for an in-home service call, but decided to bring the TV to Protech instead when Dave offered to diagnosis both the TV and an Onkyo home theater receiver I was having problems with, for one diagnostic fee. The subwoofer output on my Onkyo was not working and despite my troubleshooting I wasnt able to get it working. When I dropped off the TV and receiver, Rose was great. She told me Dave would get them on the service bench within the week and theyd let me know. A few days later Dave called me with the good news and the bad news. Good news, the Onkyo was fixed and it didnt cost anything additional. The bad news, the Samsung TV wasnt worth repairing and Dave offered to recycle it for me or I could pick it up. I asked him to recycle it, which saved me another trip.Rose and Dave were great to work with and Im very happy they got my Onkyo receiver working again. Having your electronics break is never fun but thankfully there are repair experts like Dave who can fix a lot of issues and get electronics running again.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU CALL PROTECH ELECTRONICSWhat youre about to read is my experience with a business that seems desperate, non-customer focused, money hungry, and just plain unfriendly.I was referred to Protech from LGs LiveChat to assist me with the parts list and parts diagrams for my TV because they were unable to do so. I immediately called and Dave answered. I kindly asked for the part numbers and diagrams, Dave exclaimed Why would I do that?!? I use those diagrams to fix TVs. Why would I help you by giving them to you so you can do it yourself?!?I then explained that LG referred him to me and that they said he would be able to provide me with the parts numbers and diagrams I was looking for. Dave continued to get angrier and yelled loudly through the phone WHY ARE YOU SAYING THAT!?! Unsure of why he was yelling, I apologized for anything that I may have said that angered him, but restated the reason I said LG referred me to him to get the part number and diagrams was because it was true and that they did refer me to him and stated their service center would provide the part number that I needed for the TV.Dave then angrily retorted WHY ARE WE ARGUING ABOUT THIS!?! DO YOU WANT ME TO FIX YOUR TV OR NOT?!? I then replied that I did not want him to fix my TV and without another word, he immediately hung up the phone on me and the line went dead.Im not sure why Dave didnt believe me or didnt want to help me, but Ive attached the screenshots of my LG LiveChat to show that LG did refer me to Protech Electronics and stated that their service center (Protech Electronics) would be the one who will provide me the part number that I need for my TV.I understand that Dave wanted me to pay him to fix my TV instead of me doing it myself, but this anti-customer behavior is too much. If Dave wouldve been helpful it would have been a great step in building a relationship with me, a potential customer that lives in his area. Sure, he loses the immediate sale, but theres the possibility that I try to fix my TV and, since Im not a TV repair expert, end up taking it to the kind and helpful place right down the street from my house to fix it because I was unsuccessful in my attempt to do it myself. Instead, Dave and Protech electronics decided that since I wasnt going to give them money immediately, I was of no value and yelled at me and hung up on me.I dont know about you, but I want to do business with people that are friendly, helpful, and respectful. The only experience with Dave and Protech Electronics is that they are none of those things. They just want your money and if youre not giving it to them, get off their phone line.

My Onkyo receiver failed a couple of months before the warranty ran out. I took it in here the next day as it was listed on Onkyos website as an authorized repair center. They took it and gave me a realistic time-frame of about a week or possibly two if he had to order in parts (because it might take a week to get the parts). They gave me a receipt indicating I dropped off my equipment for warranty repair and I left.A few days later I received a call from them saying that they had looked at it and that it required some parts to be ordered and that theyd probably receive them in a week.About a week later they repaired it and called to have me come pick it up. They told me to call them if there were any issues with it in the next 60 days.I thought they were very friendly, gave realistic expectations, and communicated with me well. I now have a working receiver again :-)I would definitely take my equipment to them again in the future. Thanks guys!

If there was a way to leave any lower of a review I would. Working with this company has been an absolute NIGHTMARE! We bought a warranty through RC Willey for our tv and when the backlight went out were told to contact Protech. They have had it for almost A MONTH! Yes, almost a MONTH! When we call the girl who answers the phone is absolutely rude and tells us the part (which is evidently) on the East Coast hasn’t even shipped yet. You can get a backlight for this tv on Amazon and we would have had it in a week MAX! Such an absolute nightmare. If we didn’t have a warranty with RC Willey and were Forced to work with this company we wouldn’t! Honestly, if something else went wrong with this tv we would probably just go somewhere else and pay out of pocket to feel like a priority. I don’t know if because we have a warranty and maybe they don’t make as much is why this is happening, or if this is a common issue with multiple customers no matter the account! BEWARE IF THEY TAKE YOUR TV IT MAY BE A MONTH BEFORE YOU GET IT BACK! When they took the tv they told us we would have it back in 5 days and they didn’t even LOOK at it for a week and a half. I understand being busy, but I would of rather them not take the tv until they had time to look at it. I would of gladly taken it to them once they were ready. As a business owner ourselves we are absolutely appalled at how they are running their company and are surprised they are still in business. Awful!

Im VERY grateful to Protech Electronics - they literally saved me over a thousand dollars because they went to bat for me against the manufacturer of my defective 60 LED TV. When I read the negative reviews I was left scratching my head as my experience was completely the opposite - but then I realized that the most negative reviewers wouldnt even attach their name to their review. Even if those reviews werent left by a competitor taking a cheap shot, I dont often find anonymous sources to be credible... and my experience validates that in this instance. After noticing major issues in my Sharp Aquos 60 LED TV, I called the manufacturer (Sharp) to file a claim. They told me theyd send out Protech Electronics to service it and that Id get a call later that week - but Protech ended up calling within about 3 hours of my call with Sharp. They were timely and responsive.Dale was the serviceman who came (on time!) - he is just an average Joe type of guy. Ill be honest - his appearance didnt convince me of his professionalism; there was no uniform, and he wasnt exactly clean cut (as opposed to the expensive competitors that I had used in the past for other issues)... but his knowledge and expertise blew me out of the water. In two in-home visits, Dale expressed in detail each step he was taking. I was never left in the dark, and he made sure I understood exactly what was going on. I learned more about my TV - and TVs in general - during Dales two visits than I had in my entire life prior. Because of his performance, I will ALWAYS ask for Dale if I ever need Protechs services again.Ultimately the problem was identified, but Sharp said the problem (a glaring/blatant issue in the picture) was in spec - meaning they werent going to do a thing about it (I had just bought the TV 3 weeks ago). I called Protech and told them what happened... and they went to bat for me. They contacted the manufacturer and did what it took until Sharp called me back and politely offered me a replacement TV free of charge. Protech saved me over a thousand dollars with their persistence and understanding - they went the extra mile even though they wouldnt receive a cent for the TV exchange.I HIGHLY recommend Protech because of this amazing experience. I think too many consumers dont understand the nature of servicing electronics... its a hit-and-miss type of deal. You identify one issue, but that doesnt mean its the only one. If people had more realistic expectations (which I do from my own personal experiences), I dont think theyd expect complicated electronic devices to be fixed with the first part the first time.
