Where do I begin.......So I have been a YMCA MEMBER since the mid 80s and never had such a miserable experience with the YMCA. This year has been trying, but the YMCA has not made it easier. Last year, as the pandemic began I realized my bill went up from the YMCA, My wife works for a local hospital and we had a discount that the YMCA gave us for that......when pandemic began, it stopped...no prob. The hours to the YMCA changed, abruptly... No prob. Child watch care center was no more.....ok. No more basketballs were given. Ok. Then the family pool closed......alright. so that basically leaves families like mine, with small children, no options to visit the YMCA. I kept my membership in hopes of the YMCA keeping their word, but no. After realizing I hadbeento the YMCA maybe a total of 15 times in the last year, and paid over 1000$ in dues for the facilities to never be what they were, I was disappointed.....so I finally put in for termination of my membership, begrudgingly. I have old ties with the YMCA that kept me wanting to think they cared about the service they provided. But no. My membership is still active, 8 days after my termination request, 8 days after I spoke to Everyone at the branch with my concerns. Nobody cares. Shane, the membership coordinator was not helpful, nor was anyone else. Im really disappointed. I could go on about the facilities, but I wont. Over it. Just cancel my membership, please. Theis YMCA is a racket and I have been a member in California, Pa, Texas and Delaware ✔️.....and never again will I use any YMCA, as I have the most sour taste, and the worst is that the staff, was not helpful I any way. They must hate their jobs, and I guess that explains why they can get no staff to work here, as they may have 3 regular employees who work there. R
All the instructors are positive and motivational. A great place to workout especially if you have a big family like I do. There is something for all age groups to do. I wish the daycare would be open from 1pm-4pm and the facility would stay open later on the weekends for people who get off work late along with given the youth a positive place to be on the weekend. All staff are friendly and genuine. I went from 420lbs to 350lbs in a year in this facility because of the various programs and encouragement of staff/members that make you feel welcome each time I entered the place!
Granddaughter going to summer camp - so much to do - arts and crafts, Gaga ball, games and the pool
Do not use vending machines here. They will take your money and then the ymca can’t do anything about it and then when you go to contact the vending company they also do not help. Don’t buy anything from their vending machines.
We have been members for over 20 years. We like the various fitness classes and the gym and the swimming pool. I regularly go to Tia Chi, Zomba, yoga classes and use the GYM and swimming pool regularly. The staff are experienced and helpful.
I have really become a serious member of the exercise classes over the last year.I have had one on one training on all weight machines ( free)I cant tell you how much I enjoy the 8 lane pool!!I have gotten very healthy, lost a lot of weight, and increased my energy levels tremendously. There is not a single instructor, life gaurd, front desk workers ( Steve who always makes me laugh) that I dont enjoy seeing daily. All in all it has/ is a wonderful experience where I have made many lovely friends.I feel like a fish out of water.no pun intended now we have sadly had to close due to the Virus 😭I would highly recommend the DOVER YMCA.You will never know how healthy you can be until you try!!!
No one ever answers the phone.
As senior citizens, my wife and I REALLY appreciate the four lane pool. At 88 degrees (F), it is a wonder place to relax and do her physical therapy routine.
I love the different activities that are available. the camp counselors were very involved with the kids and I liked the sign in/out process.
The facility is well kept and they have a lot of up to date equipment. A nice play to workout and play a good game of ball or two. 3 stars because the staff is rude and tend to lie quite often.
I absolutely love working out at the Y! Some of the staff could be a little friendlier. Most of them are amazing. The cost you pay is ridiculous, but in the end its worth it. The hours of operation should be longer, especially for the price you pay!!!!!
Awesome staff and facilities. The instructors are amazing and we couldn’t be happier. I would recommend this YMCA to anyone!
The environment is always friendly, clean and easily accessible. I participate in Yoga, Tai Chi, BodyFlow and Zumba. The instructors are fun, skilled and enjoyable to be around. I have not tried the gym or pool yet.
Lots of activities for the young and old. Staff friendly and helpful. Clean facility.
Great staff. Endless dedication. Got my husband out of a wheelchair to a walker; something 3 inpatient rehab facilities couldnt do. Wonderful.
Staff was super nice to our family and there were plenty around to answer our questions and provide direction. Locker room quite clean too. Free coffee such a bonus! Hope to have a long relationship with them.
I am glade I joined the YMCA. It was only for swimming lessons but I enjoy the gym as well. They are family friendly
Facility is clean and big. The staff are super friendly. The equipment is nice and they have two pools with a sauhna.
Very thorough on the basics!! Extremely friendly!
The Ymca is a good place, the thing that I do not like is the hours. I have a job and school and whenever I am able to workout I cant because the gym is closed. I might switch to club fitness for the 24 hour service.
Nice place for a family. My kids love the pool. The renovation and expansion are nice, but wish they would re-do the locker room for the small pool.
Amazing staff. Friendly. Very clean. Great programs. Fun group fitness classes.
Staff is very friendly, facility is top notch, and a great variety of programs for all age groups.
Parking gets a little tight but its a great place for the family and its always very clean.
SUE HERR-STAFF EXCELLENT FACILITIES-RYAN EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE-PROBLEM NOT ENOUGH HANDICAP PARKING-THANKS-ENJOY KEEPING HEALTHY.
I like the classes and the staff. The gym has the right equipment. It is a very good Center.
The basketball courts are almost never open, which is the only reason why I got the membership. When you call and ask about open gym the staff lies and says there is none yet I have friends thatll go and it will be open. Plus the same people on staff always have an attitude.
It is very nice place to have many family members.
Overall a great place for family and friends to hang out and have a good time
Great placer to Work out and have fun with my family
One person can ruin the entire experience. Sheila at front desk..frumpy lil woman. Guess what? You really do have carts to carry supplies. Guess what else? You give the community group a bad image with your ugly sour face
I initially joined the Y so that my kids could take swimming lessons there. I never thought Id end up joining the Y myself. Its definitely not as fancy as the gyms Im used to going to but their classes are amazing and instructors are dedicated. I love all the les mills classes; grit, body combat, body flow and body pump. The gym area is basic, plenty of cardio machines, weight machines and free weights area is small and limited. The gym needs a major upgrade. Locker rooms and bathrooms are old. Kids area is simple, my 6 year olds hate it, its prob better for toddlers and babies. If youre in this area and need a gym, Id definitely recommend this one. It does the job.
Please, be careful when you cancel the membership. They will not cancel your membership until you realize you keep pay your membership fee. This club is really horrible due to the membership service. I cancled membership, but they never canceled the service. I paid the fee for two months. And, never got refund. They told the manager will call you, but I never got called. Also, this happened twice for me. Last winter, I canceled the membership, but they didnt cancel. This is their habbit. Fortunately, I got refund previous one, but never got refund the second one.So, I visited here several times. Waste time and money due to horrible staffes. Crazy!! I am so disappointed in this YMCA, dover.
The Y has a lot of great programs I specifically use them for my sons afterschool care and for summer camp. I am a single, full-time working mom so its tough handling these things. But their billing practices are very inconsistent and sometimes downright offensive. I wont go into detail but me and other mothers have had same complaints if there were more convenient camps/daycares around Id def change places. The counselors however are AWESOME so I give them much respect and appreciation. Staff was always nice.
Do not join if you have kids extremely disappointed in this place the youth gym is never open and open swim on school days is 715pm do not join the ymca if you have kids
They are a good ymac
Should stay open later on Saturdays
Great staff!!!
Love it
