Review №2

I braved this place for over a year and half having to live there because the price was alright (not worth what I was paying) and it was close to work. Only one dryer worked for the entire stay. Laundry was only in the basement and elevator was a freight elevator only available during moves that I got stuck in between floors for over 45 minutes once. Office staff is never there (which is inconvenient not only to pay rent but for emergencies and package pick up). I had to call the police once and they were not only super cautious about entering the building, but could do nothing about my problem because the Emergency number given to me at move in was no longer anyones phone number. At one point, one of the only 2 ways into the building was literally nailed shut because someone broke the door. Pretty sure that would have been devastating in a fire situation. When I first moved in it took over a week and a half for someone to come and fix the smoke detector (high ceilings make it impossible to reach). I really thought they were ignoring me to the point where I had to use a broom to knock it off the ceiling because the beeping made it unbearable to sleep. Speaking of sleep, if you arent overheating or freezing to death because of their ridiculous set up, you need heavy sedation to get over the fact it feels like all of your neighbors are living in the same room as you. You can hear EVERYTHING in the building. My neighbor was actually in a dispute with the owners of the building because his unit was leaking water with black mold. You can see the water lines in the ceiling that they continue to paint over. I was warned by other tenants not to complain too much because eventually they just get sick of you and evict you. The location is nice if you want easy access to downtown Detroit but the amount you pay to live there, you would think someone would actually care about you and maybe fix something more than every 2 years. One of the tenants built steps on the loading dock because it was impossible to move anything in and out of the elevator without hurting yourself. Tenants keep the building clean. Not to mention, no one has proceeded to forward my mail to my new address, which was given to them upon notice of my move out and causing some serious trouble for me. How hard is it to give post back to the mail man who has to stand there and put mail in the individual boxes? If its not coming to me, where is it going? I would normally never write something like this about anywhere but the list continues beyond what I have described here. There are other buildings within the Loft Place system that are OKAY however, this is not one of them. Save your money.
