We had lost our cat for over a week, we finally found him! The workers stayed longer so that we could pick him up, he was well taken care and was happy to see us. Thank you guys so much for taking care of our baby!!!

I adopted a dog from them last year name Buddy the kids was so happy we had a new addition to the family. Sadly Buddy dies when we got him home. I had to take him to a24 hour animal hospital in Des Moines. The ARL returned my money but my kids are so hurt . My girls ((who are 5& 7 at the time) stay up crying they eyes out.They gave me Buddy ashes and he have a picture of him head out the car looking happy with his new family. We are still heart broken. I hope to have better luck with finding a new dog for the family.

Went to them due to a missing pet. I was shoved a card to list my missing pet and told have a great day. I kept checking back even just in case she was found and we did not get notified. Yes she is chipped. Staff was rude all 3 times I came in. PS Not all ARLs in the same state are connected in any way. So dont assume they will check any other agencies. Dont try Finding Rover they suggest either, it did not find our lost dog that was at another ARL in a different town. Our dog chip was missed for 3 days! By luck I happen to email her original adoption agency ARL marshalltown with a missing poster, she was there. 60 miles from our home. They rescanned her for the chip and found it the 2nd time.

What can I say they help animals and make sure they get taken care of. Great place.

Staff was very kind however they were not truthful with why their animals were returned. We adopted a dog who was said to have been returned 4 times prior because of the high energy levels. We took him outside every two hours to potty and play and he did not have as high of energy as they said. They said he was kennel trained. False. He broke out of his kennel multiple times each time we reinforced a different way, yet he somehow broke out. He went from destroying trash to eating hair product and dishes to ripping the blinds off, breaking a desk and breaking a closet door off the hinges. Each time he broke out we reinforced and each time he broke out it escalated. We were not warned of his mental health in very severe separation anxiety. He was never alone for longer than 3 hours, but would always break out when Id be gone for 1 hr to get groceries. Another thing, when surrendering him they asked if I wanted his ashes because his mental health would just keep declining. I dont think they should have even told me they were going to put him down. I was surrendering him and telling them the truth. I believe he would have done great on a farm, always outside, but they dont adopt dogs out that would be outside dogs. Either way its in their hands when giving him back, no longer my responsibility. Why guilt trip me by asking if I want his ashes? I would adopt from them again HOWEVER Ill need a lot more info about the personality of an animal and need a full disclosure on mental as well as physical health.

I come here to drop off the socially best strays i find. Could be better, the amount of noise from the dogs definitely stresses the cats out, but what can you really do about it. Theyre still a great shelter, and the adoption locations are good as well.

Took good care of my fur baby while she was the for 10 days. They were so helpful and understanding too.

Got three cats. First one i got was so sweet i keep her. Second one tried to rip my arm off. After returning the second cat got another one. Prefect fit they both get along and they arent plotting my death, or attacking me like the second cat. Also be careful when picking your pet the staff normally dont know much about the animals. They will say every single pet is perfect for you. Weather its true or not. Took my time and visited daily till i got the two i currently have. I rushed the second which was a mistake. Mostly listening to staff not what i saw.

I have a question about your website it doesn’t really explain if you are able to go and play and get to know the dogs at the main place.

I went here as I found a rabbits nest in my back yard. As it look like an animal attacked it an two babies were dead I cleaned it outban found on alive. They pointed to a person who could help. However; they had one of my cats who a distured neighbor call in as being a stray and wanted over a hundred dollars to get her back which I didnt have I had to leave her there. I will never respect or forgive them for that.

Staff rock!!!! I found a old dog on a Sunday. Someone was working and came out to take the old pup .. she gave her such love.. if I lost my pup I want that staff to find him.

You need a pet someone will help you find the perfect one for you.
