Edit: After seeing my review, I was contacted by the director. We had a short phone conversation and another appointment was set with my new resume writer. Everything was delivered, as promised. All of the necessary communication was done quickly. It looks like things have changed for the better, as my previous resume writing expert is no longer with the company. I appreciate the effort and all of the work that was done to complete this process and to make it right.One of the worst mistakes I made was hiring these people. Just as M S has stated in their review, spoke with Jason once, that was it. You then get pushed off to someone else, with the worst experience. Felt rushed, very rushed, took his time getting back to me and when he did, instructions were not the best. I ordered a resume, cover letter and a LinkedIn profile makeover. Received the resume and an attempt at a profile, that I had to do all of the work on. Received a doc and had to input all of the information, without any guidance, in the profile. A little difficult being a first time user.Never received a cover. Sent an email after I received the all of the other documentation and got nothing, no response from anyone. Got a lot of talk and hot air and a waste of money. I will not make that mistake again. I was thinking that everything was going to work out because I had paid for a professional to help me get everything together. I was wrong. I am a software developer, and I applied everything I learned in this program and applied to just a few companies that I really wanted and I felt qualified for. I didnt get a single response. I then reached out to an old professor that took one look at my resume and told me that it was essentially garbage. It was way too fluffed up for the tech industry. Too much fancy wording and not enough real information. He helped me rewrite it and then helped me to apply to some jobs, I got calls back within a week.On top of that, when this professor reached out to the hiring manager for the company I now work for he explained the situation and she even remembered having seen my resume come through. She said, and I quote, It was just so over the top that I immediately set it aside. Not exactly the response that I was hoping for from a professionally written resume.I imagine Sound Advice Careers is really great for helping some people in different careers but they need to learn some more about resumes in the tech industry.OLD POST:I bought their silver service package and it was completely worth it. The modules put together on how to approach a job search had a great advice but specifically a few gold nuggets that made all the difference in my own job search. They were tips that had never even crossed my mind. To be honest, I was skeptical paying for a resume and job search help but it was worth every penny and I would highly recommend to friends or colleagues. The master resume and cover letter were really great and helped me stand out as a top candidate for multiple jobs. I was prepared to take several months, even up to 6 months, to find the right job but with the resume, cover letter and information in the modules I ended up with multiple interviews in a matter of weeks and two really good offers. Truly hard to believe given that only 6 weeks ago I was frustrated and discouraged with the job search.
