I moved out of an AMLI complex at the beginning of October. A few days after I moved out, the complex was sold. This means that AMLI corporate was in charge of refunding my security deposit. In September (before I moved out), I filled out a form stating that my security deposit was to be refunded directly to my bank account. My roommate and I decided to do this because we were now going to be living far from each other and did not want to deal with the hassle of having to both sign a check. I first contacted AMLI Corporate on 11/10/16, one month after moving out because I had not yet received my security deposit. I left a message about my situation and received a call back that day saying that it would be followed up on and I would be told what was happening. On 11/14/16, I had not heard anything. I called again and left a message. On 11/15/16, my message had not been returned and I called again. I talked to Catherine who assured me that she would follow up and take care of it. Catherine told me that they had no record of the security deposit needing to be electronically deposited. She said that she would talk to people and try to see if they could change it to electronic deposit. On 11/16/16, she called me to tell me that she was still working on it. I received a check in the mail for the amount of my security deposit on 11/21/16. On 11/29/16, I still had not heard back from Catherine about my situation. I called and left a message. Catherine called back and told me that they could not cancel the check and issue an electronic deposit.Not only am I very annoyed that my security deposit was not refunded how I was promised, the lack of communication and follow-up from the AMLI Corporate office is extremely frustrating. Although I had a mostly positive experience living at the AMLI property, I will never rent at an AMLI property again based on my experience here.
