My first time here Hannah did a great job Im on my hair. She listened to me on what I wanted and made suggestions. This is the only place I will come to now.

Took me a long time to find a Barber shop that will give me what I want and not what they think I want. This place is awesome great cut and first time someone touched my beard besides me and it looks amazing will always go there for now on.

My shop now . Had go use another barber there than my usual. Boom still a great cut.

I love getting my hair cut here! Everyone is great at what they do, and they are all friendly.I especially love to visit Paymon. Besides everything I just mentioned he pays more attention to detail than any barber Ive had in all my 26 years. If you arent getting your haircut here, what are you doing?

Great staff and really warm place to go in to and get a hair cut

Fast efficient friendly service and you seriously dont get hair all over yourself. The clippers are hooked up to a vacuum. Nice and there are places nearby to get a quick bite to eat afterwards. Plus the bus runs by there. Never a problem.

I got my hair cut at this place earlier today, and the service was phenomenal. The guy I had, Paymon, was an excellent barber, who actually listened to what I wanted. I showed him a picture of my preferred style (the one on the right) and he made it look exactly like it. Best barber Ive ever had!!

Definitely has got to be the most professional, clean and welcoming Barber Shop in town. Did try several of them before I settled at University City Barber Shop. My cuts from Chris are ALWAYS on point. All the Barbers there seem to have their own usual clientele that keep coming back for a reason and Im sure its because they always leave content. Do recommend this place and I have to friends and family and they have made it their own spot to get there haircuts.

This is the best barber shop in the NIU area hands down. You cant go wrong sitting in anyones chair. Its nice to see everyone there is taking the pandemic seriously as well.

This is my go to barber shop for the last five years, its really a pro level shop and the real talent is Chris and Chewy, these two are legit. Jordan is a future prospect that is tightening up his cuts. I was pleasantly surprised on my last visit by the blonde lady barber I think her name is Kelsey? She gave my some a new style with a razor sharp fade. When I got home my wife was all over me. She had me looking good. Avoid the rookies in the back of the shop unless your getting a just because cut, however I do appreciate Chris coming over and giving feedback to the rookies, this shows pride and quality in his shop. Best barbers in the county.

This was by far the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. The girl who cut my hair I believe was in training and took her time and did a great job, her work was reviewed and improved upon by a more experienced barber and the time and care spent on my hair and beard by them speaks volumes about the pride they take in their work. I’ll definitely be coming back.

There are not too many barber shops in the Dekalb area with barbers who know how to cut all grades of hair. University City Barbers does and they do an excellent job at it.

Got an OUTSTANDING fade by Anthony! Dude is kinda new but can snap! This is refreshing because I kind of had a rocky experience there my last time in. but after reading the reviews it seems to be a trend with a barber that is no longer there. Staff if nice, and shop has a modern old school feel but could use some more TVs, got to keep up with the times.

So it was a great place and really nice people but I had a new person cut my hair and made me miss class and kinda messed up the back of my head. I made sure to give them like an hour and half cause I didn’t want to miss class. like I completely understand you gotta learn and stuff but it’s just a little frustrating cause I had to pay for this and like I wasn’t really satisfied cause he was gonna leave my line up looking weird . I probably won’t go back ima just stick to just driving back to Chicago to go see my guy. But like everyone else there was doing really clean haircuts it was just my experience I’m pretty sure in a couple of month that new guy will become better.

Went in today looking for a new place to get my haircut and decided to stop by this barbershop because of the reviews and Im glad I did, though I get my hair styled in a simple way, alot of time barbers have trouble with my line up due to a scar and an inverted widows peak I have but the guy that cut my hair did a fantastic job and was real cool, I also usually dont converse with barbers, but this guy was real friendly and was able to both work and talk fluidly without making errors, dont know his name but he was a tall white guyPositives:Not expensiveGreat working staffStaff is also friendlyCleanGot seated at a station immediatelyNegative:Dont have options for razor(But understandable since many locations do not have that option, and the barber also stated that they might start using them soon)

Ive had first hand experience with most of their staff, and theyve all been fantastic. Truly devoted to working with their customers, even when theyre exceptionally picky (like myself).

I thought about driving the hour home for a cut at my usual place, but decided to go with a well-reviewed local place instead. I biked over, the wait was short, but two things really ruined my experience:As soon as I sat down the gentleman asked me how I usually keep my hair, what products I use (its curls around the edges, and goes afro if I dont use mousse). Before I could even say what I was in for or how I wanted it cut he proceeded to tell me I was ruining my hair and their product (holding it 3 inches from my face now that Im in the chair) was what I needed to buy. It took me 3 attempts to get him to confirm that I just wanted a 1/2 inch trim all around to tidy it up. If I was a regular and actually knew this guy, maybe Id want to take his advice. But on a first visit? Bad first impression.Haircut was horrendous. I have no hair, sitting here back at home. I asked for 1/2 inch (my hair was maybe 3/4 down my ears), and he just went to town. Im left with this tuft on top of my head, because he claimed he knew what would look good. That simply doesnt give you creative freedom when I ASKED for a simple trim. Its going to take a couple months for it to grow back, but I certainly wont be.

Chewwy provided excellent service, staying after hours and not rushing even though he had to stay late. He took his time and made sure I liked what he was doing before he made any changes and did an excellent job on my hair and beard.

Definitely one of the best if not the best barber shop in town. There a variety of barbers and they have quite a skill for cutting hair (duh). One of the best and well known is Chewwy. I personally get Jorden since hes good and not that busy compared to Chewwy. My friend has gotten haircuts from Chewwy and is always on point, especially when it comes to style. Not a long wait but the barbers dont rush you out nor do they rush your haircut. I tend to come here once a month and the prices are fair and cheap.

I have been going here for a few months now and love how kailee does my hair and beard, don’t even have to tell her how i like it, as she just remembers every time! Friendly staff and highly recommend coming here

Walked in the door and was immediately sat down for a haircut. I am very pleased with the out come and the guy who cut my hair took his time and made sure he got it right. Ten out of ten would recommend I am defiantly going here for future hair cuts.

I have a standard part to the side combover haircut, I asked for a trim, zero fade and the guy cut all the hair off the left side of my head like im some 12 year old. Good thing I can wear a hat to work. Never coming back here.

Kinda long wait but worth the wait

There is a guy work there his name Aiman. He is the worst barber I ever have. Not clean. does not know what he is doing. smell bad. I did not see him clean the razor. tons of unorganized napkin in his drawer (you cannot whether it is clean or not).

This place is hit or miss, every time I get the female barbers they either mess up my hair or give me something I didnt ask for. One of them I could tell she was new and was in training because another barber had to come over and cut my hair. This occurred many times during my visits here as it seemed people were avoiding her. Then theres another one that gives me cuts that I dont ask for, pretty frustrating paying 15 bucks for these cuts everytime.

Im not the type of person to get impressed with haircuts but I went there and it was very friendly environment but the haircut I got has got me multiple complements after just a few hours and I plan on continue my visit here it also raised my self esteem

Ive been going to University City barber shop for a long time. Chris and the crew do a nice job.

Ive never gotten a better cut or even a comparable cut anywhere else, period. The few times Ive succumbed to infidelity I still ended up making the trip to University afterwards to have them cure the unwanted side effects of my promiscuity.

Great place for a real mans haircut. I go in to get my beard trimmed and head buzzed on occassion (Im just not that good at it myself) and though theres always a line, I usually get through quick, and they usually give me the buzz for free!
