First off, I m a newbie. Only been going to Schurmans since 2009 (20 years). Steve and his crew, have cut my hair as an Air Force officer and since I retired in 2004 and became a US government civil servant in 2009. Impeccable. Consistent, high quality service or myself and my family (me, son, father, visiting guests) whenever I go there. Outstanding! My go to place to get my ears lowered.

This place has been operating for over 100 years and they will probably be open for at least that much longer. Friendly male barbers, family run. The barbers actually talk to you the entire time and they take their time to do a good job for a reasonable price (cash only payments). The inside decor is very homey and comfortable-looks the same as it likely did when it opened. I enjoy coming here after going to Sport Clips for years. I have a manly haircut now instead of a boys.

Definitely the best place in Dayton to get a haircut. Ive been going to designer salons for the past 10 years and they cant touch the ability this barber shop has. Ive been seeing Lynn for the past four months and weve developed a great barber/client relationship. I will continue to get my hair cut here as long as Lynn is at Schurmans! Be sure to bring cash, as it is CASH ONLY (like most barber shops).

Great haircut

I tried many barbers before finding Schurmans. A couple things that are important to me in a barber service: it must be walk-in friendly, good conversation, and the haircuts should be consistent. Schurmans covers all of these and more. Ive had haircuts from all their barbers, and theyre all great!

I quit going to this Barber Shop after years of loyalty. While the owner is fantastic there are several very outspoken bigoted racist barbers who have said horrible things in front of a crowded room. The latest was a Barber suggesting a peace strategy of bombing the city of Mecca in order to cleanse the world of Islam. Some patrons of this shop may like this talk and agree with him, but I do not and will not be using them anymore.

Best place by far for any UD student to get a top notch haircut the ladies will love. Also barbers are awesome.Bonus: believed to be where the Wright Brothers got there haircut.

I dont typically leave bad reviews, but this has been bothering me since I went in Schurmans in June. I called first to confirm the hours and that they were walk-in and the guy was super friendly, told me to come on up. It was a Saturday at mid-day; I arrive and there is a room full of people waiting (not a surprise on a Saturday). One guy and one woman are working. After sitting there for almost an hour, I learned that the next (3) people were waiting specifically for the guy. So that left the woman to cut my sons hair when she was done with her current male client and we were the only other people in the waiting room. However, I over-hear her (talking loud enough so that I was sure to hear her) telling her customer that she is going to lunch when shes done with his hair cut. (which would leave us to either wait through her lunch or wait on the guy to do 3 more hair cuts in front of my sons. My son is 9. It would not have taken but 15 mins for her to cut his hair before going to lunch- especially when wed been sitting there so long already and no one else was behind us.It was extremely rude and extremely unprofessional. They even could have planned for her lunch ahead of time and evaluated the wait as people were arriving to accommodate a lunch for her. Horrible Service.

Everything has always been great, then a newly hired woman gave me the worst haircut Ive ever had. I cant imagine she was doing anything besides trying to demonstrate hate.

Reasonable cuts & pricing. Some of the barbers are too opinionated and free with their thoughts.
