After renting here for 12 months, I spent a whole day moving to a less conveniently-located facility because this U-Haul location is so bad.I have: (1) been locked out of my unit (not billing related), (2) been trapped in the facility, (3) had papers in my “air conditioned” unit ruined due to humidity, and (4) measured the indoor temperature last week at 29 degrees Fahrenheit.All the while, I experienced totally inept customer service.1) Over the course of two weeks, I visited my unit after hours twice and was unable to use my card to get in. After going out of my way to visit during office hours, I was told, “Oh yeah the card readers don’t work on building D… we will get you PIN access.” U-Haul management should have notified customers rather than leaving it to us to figure out that the card reader wasn’t working.2) On December 11th at 5pm I entered the facility, which has one entrance and one exit off the highway, only to find construction trucks blocking the exit. After notifying the construction crew to my presence, I was still unable to access my unit or even leave the facility for 20 minutes. This could have easily been prevented by management coordinating to move U-Haul trucks that eliminated means of navigating around the construction trucks.3/4) Don’t expect the indoor “air-conditioned” units to amount to anything. For over a month this summer, A/C was malfunctioning in building D such that the floor had pools of water from condensation on pipes… the resulting humidity was enough to destroy any exposed papers items in storage. This winter, I measured the building’s inside temperature to be below freezing. I understand that things break, but at least notify your customers!When I was dealing with the broken card readers on July 17, 2020, one of the employees was not wearing a mask. I have included a photo of him (no mask) talking to two customers (both wearing masks) at a short distance. Regardless how you feel about masks, his attitude was objectively disrespectful towards those customers. This total lack of care is made apparent by every single U-Haul employee at this location by their inability to provide reasonably reliable unit access and/or notification of the facility’s state of disrepair.

Except for not being able to speak to anyone on the phone I texted & emailed. Finally I was able to get my messages addressed. Beth Thank you soooo much!!! Even got a nice truck clean & new & one month free storage.😁💯

I will save my detailed comments for the formal complaint as it wont serve the young man well to make them public, but the one star is due to the belligerent staff member at desk who has difficulty controlling his emotions. This is apparently known by others. Best for you to avoid Danvers location at all costs until this person is counseled or relocated to a job better suited for him.

I just called up, 9 am. I asked about there storage rates and asked to get into a space today. The guy tells me to call back because there busy. This is how you do business?!! Turn customers away? I said okay? Okay lol. Id give them another chance but I think that just explained how they would run things. Also the other reviews are not to promising. Not good uhaul.

Not a bad place if you need a truck last minute to move something or someone. My only complaint is I rented 2 trucks in 1 week and both times they marked the gas line wrong and told me there was more gas in the truck than was actually in there. I brought both trucks back with a quarter of a tank of gas more than required. Dont take advantage of your customers that are loyal to your establishment like that.

Manager Beth was very kind and helpful! We had been given the run-around by two different stores and Traffic by the time we were directed to her store to get a 1-way, but she had us hooked up to a brand new trailer with a free extension of our rental for our trouble in no time flat.

Never have i ever received such disrespect from an employee anywhere. Matt hands down was the worst employee anywhere he really told me sorry we are closed at 6:58 when I was on hold for 15mins on my way there then the phone hung up and I continued to call and then no answer. Matt said I don’t know what to tell you figure it out. I then proceeded to ask about the process and he said fine you know what I will do it. With the biggest attitude and I asked him why are you being so rude and he said we are closed! I never take the time to write a review like this but wow Matt is the worst employee

Worst and most unprofessional storage company I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They took money out of my account for a month of storage, proceeded to tell me I owed for that month, and then charged me late fees for it. Aside from that customer service hung up on me the first time because she said I was complaining and I told her I was simply explaining the situation, not complaining. The second customer service rep told me I have to physically go to the location to rectify the issue. I live out of state and I take care of family. So UHAUL is allowed to overcharge, then make you pay again due to fear of loss, and not be held responsible if youre not able to physically go to the location with proof because in the year 2020 this is the only company where management is not given an email address (makes about as much sense as them being at meetings at 7pm). So UHAUL is great for the free truck to move and free first month to store, and thats where it ends. Actually between late fees and being charged twice those services werent free at all. Im sorry, I guess they are good for nothing.

I placed an order online at 10am for some packing supplies (boxes, tape, mattress cover). When I went into the store at 5pm the same day to pick up my order it was not ready. The front desk rep complained about how no one had picked the order and how he would have to do it. I didnt feel like my time or business were appreciated here and based on the service alone I would not recommend this location.

Started out with a truck that had less then 1/4 of a tank of gas. Had to go to the gas station immediately aftye picking up the truck. They double charged my account. Was told there would be a hold and a charge upon returning the truck. The hold was an actual charge and when my wife called to inquire 4 days later the Owner/Manager was obnoxious. One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I recommend you stay far away from this poorly run company! Definitely not worth the headache moving is stressful enough you don’t need the owner causing more stress

The place was polluted. ..the staff was not at all knowledgable. ..both didnt know how to add a dolly to reservation. ..over an hour later. ..on a sunday...mid month. ..they moved all incompetent personal from Middleton location, witch we avoided from bad reveiws. .so we had a more undesirable experience with Danvers. ..the pic is twentu feet from office doors. .SAD.

DO NOT USE THiS COMPANY!!Update- as I stated and now have confirmed with my bank we were charged 2x. When my husband attempted to call back to get a refund the computer was conviently down.Just had the worst customer service from the owner/manager at Uhaul!! DO NOT use them. I called for a concern on the charge for a Uhaul rental. 2 charges on my credit card. She just read off the contract. I tried to explain her it was a clear charge/purchase on my account not a hold. When I called her out on her attitude and lack of customer she became irate yelling at me insisting she speak to me husband, he picked up the truck and signed the agreement.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!Drive the extra couple of miles for an alternative. I should have read the reviews prior to renting from them. Seems as the owner/manager has a history of terrible customer service.

Do yourself a favor & drive a few miles down the road to the Uhaul in Salem; thats where youll find a smile in customer service. It was easy, quick & friendly getting in & out, on what could already be a chaotic moving day. Salem is everything Danvers is not. The people I dealt with in Danvers were straight out rude. They act like you are inconveniencing them & apparently have forgotten what customer service is all about. I was poorly treated, spoke to disrespectly all this while I was kept waiting & waiting & waiting... then I went to Salem. Seriously save yourself the aggravation & go to Salem Uhaul.

After a lengthy medical recovery, a full year behind on rent,the inevitable happens,and I get the auction notuceat the no rehabilitation center,and called to let Chandel know i understood, and would try to find the money to settle up! The day of the auction I managed to get half of the money, the honest effort was rewarded with mu unit not being auctioned off, and a grace grace period to wait for funds to clear to my account! All these negative reviews are people in better position to pay than myself,but refuse to communicate with management! Everyone at the Danvers UHaul,showed concern, and compassion for my life altering medical situation,and Chandel was more than generous with the amount of time shes given me to get back on my feet! This kind of customer service is rather unique, and I can honestly say she has earned my respect, and Ill continue to sing their praise!

I came two minutes late to put two things and the staff were very rude and wouldnt let me in for even a minute but they let another guy unload a whole truck... very ignorant staff they do not deserve the jobs they have Ill be moving everything out tomorrow

Absolute worst company. I reserved a truck through the website two days in advance for 8:30AM. They call me 12 hours later and say they cant provide what they promised, but they do have a truck 20 miles away if I want it at 6:15 pm. and if I want that one I can pay the mileage difference? Terrible service, totally unapologetic, not willing to help or work anything out at all....

This place is poorly managed, to say the least. Linda the manager was very dismissive when we put in our water damage claim several months ago. Uhaul gave me a 1-800 number to call and sent me on my way. After about a month I called to check on the status of my claim in ARIZONA lol (I live in MA), they told me it wasnt found in the system to call the center to follow up. Called several times to discuss with manager, left messages after messages with no return call. I guess she never processed it and for that I will never do business with UHAUL ever again. And the funny thing is I work for a company that always uses UHAUL for relocating their employees for constructions projects across the country, and Ive let the HR manager know and currently searching for an alternative moving company. Bad service equals big losses (but UHAUL probably doesnt care anyways). No one is probably ever going to read this and so Ill take it for what it is, simply venting.
