Its a great place for bird watching, It has 3 types of eagles about 4 or 5 different breed of hawks.

Nice to look around at all the wildlife.
Dallas Southside Wastewater Treatment Facility is one of the greatest places for an electrician, who didnt know the slightest thing about maintenance electricity, despite having over 30 years experience in electrical construction, to begin a completely new phase in his life and his experience. I will have been employed 10 years come the 14th of April, 2014 and there has not a day gone by while I have worked at this plant, that I havent learned something new and different about my field of work or from all the great employees that keep this facility an AWARD WINNER consistently year after year. Thats right, we get recognized; high praise no less, for cleaning up yalls messes, which you cant help, and turning them into something special. Some of you might frown, turn away and say, Id never work in a place like that, much less visit, its just so, well, you know, so crappy! Im sure crappy wasnt the first word that came to mind. You would be right though, after all, we catch everything yall good people put down your porcelain thrones, sort it out, clean it up, then send it back out to the Trinity River as pure water, cleaner than before you put it into your bodies. You really cant imagine the machinery and manpower it takes to get one 8 ounce glass of water, starting out brown as a bean, to end up crystal clear as a beautiful Texas spring morning sky. We are constantly petting, cursing, encouraging, bleeding and yup, sometimes even crying and begging to keep our equipment and our plant in top shape, consistently producing 110 per cent pure water like it was second nature. Shoot, it is second nature for a lot of us. Ive said way too much and said nothing at all, so I will leave you with this thought until I get a burr under my saddle and start spewing epithets again. A wise man once said, and he was probably a Texan, It is better to light one candle than to sit and curse the darkness...and the wolves in it! Hey, its a dirty job, but Im gonna do it. Ray G. Maintenance Electrician, Southside Wastewater Treatment Plant.
