I took my relatively new bike to get checked after falling off of it. My front tire was flat. Soon after picking it up, I noticed that the front tire was still flat. I went to another bicycle shop and was told that the wrong size inner tubing was placed (a 32 instead of a 38). The owner of the second bike shop said the size they used was too small, which is why it was flat. He said this is likely because the supply is low right now. I wish Red Star has shared this information with me and discussed with me that they were using a different size tubing and what that would mean in terms of the bike’s ability to function. Hopefully this review will help them be more mindful in the future and avoid cutting corners for profit.

So I went to this bike shop to have an old bike be tuned up (basically to have its chain be lubed and generally be checked for any other issues by a professional). When I walked in it looked nice but the people working there made me feel uneasy. After I dropped of my bike for them to tune up I asked if I could take a look around and see what they sell (since they had a lot of parts and tools on the walls). The guy said yes but just kept waiting there, like I was suppose to leave or something, didnt help that after looking around a bit I notice that most things didnt have prices on them. After 2 or 3 minutes passed I decided to leave since it felt like I wasnt suppose to be there.Tomorrow came so I went to pick up my bike. After I paid same thing kind of happened. No small talk, no conversation about the bike, just transaction now leave the store.They did good job, but this place made me feel unwelcomed. Judging from theyre rating from the time I post this, Im assuming other people have had better experiences with this shop. They do a good job but they did made me feel unwelcomed. Sorry but for that, this place is getting a 2 star from me and Ill stick to YouTube and Amazon for future bike repairs and maintenance.

Great Experience ordered exactly what I needed and even showed me what YouTube video to go to so I can install it myself. Definitely will be using them more.

Great Service, I want to say something unexpected happened during my first visit, but thankfully the Owner was able to fix all the issues in my bike for a very cheap price! I will definitely be coming back here. I believe this is the best place to get your bicycle fixed not only because the people here really want you to be out there riding your bikes safely, but also because the atmosphere and customer service I received was exemplary of a Professional Shop.

I just got back from Red Star. I was riding and noticed a weight distribution and clicking problem. Christian (owner) diagnosed my problem and remembered me from 6 months ago. Apparently I needed new pedals. Christian took my bike for a test ride and quoted future work. I was barely off the trail! Thank you Red Star for the quick and convenient service!

Happy with my experience here. They tuned up my busted bike -- replaced some brake parts, inner tubes, cleaned and tightened, the works. Fair price. Definitely will return next time I need my bike serviced. I also feel like theyre doing a good job with social distancing -- not an easy task.

Great service! They specialize in repairs to get you back out there. The store it self is fairly small and limited selection on products. However, the employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. I recently had my bike shipped down to Texas. I needed a specific wrench to get my peddles back on and my tires were completely flat. They were able to help fill my tires and put my peddles on for free in matter of minutes.

Me and my son came to buy merchandise at the store on Saturday 7/25/2020. The sign said open. The old man didnt let us in the store we had to standing outside to tell him what we was looking he said no bike accessories. I thought we came to a bike store for parts.. He treated us like we was a criminal. Then he referred us to another store to buy merchandise. Trying to support business no matter how we look.

Im fortunate to work very near Red Star Bicycle - I highly recommend them for their outstanding customer service. Ive had several great experiences, including upgrading my mid-90s Trek for a new Scott, and getting my daughter a much needed upgrade to replace her (too cheap) bicycle for Christmas. What a difference its made. Christian knows his business. Support your local bike shop!

Kind of irritated with my experience so far. Dropped off my bike and had a conversation with the front desk that the front tire is squeaking really badly. I demonstrated this for them and told them that this was the only problem I had with the bike. After taking a look at my bike, the person that I spoke to let me know that more than likely a tune-up would fix all the problems. They even up sold me on one of their more expensive tune-ups, which I happily agreed to thinking that this problem would be solved. When I got my bike back, not only was it just as bad as it was when I dropped it off, but the new person I spoke to seems very reluctant to do anything about it. He told me that its pretty difficult to make it stop squeaking, and eventually I had to explain that it was the reason for bringing it in. It was extremely difficult to figure out what the next steps were in talking to this individual and it seemed like pulling teeth to get an answer. After about 20 minutes of him cleaning the rim and me having to come back into the store because it kept shrieking when I tested it, he said either they werent able to clean it enough to make it stop shrieking or I basically need a new tire.More why this is frustrating is because its specifically the reason why I brought this in and was told that new brake pads and a tune-up would fix this. If they had told me from the beginning that I would need a new tire, then I would have happily paid it. Even if they had called me after the fact and said this was the issue, I would have been okay. However, when I explained that I had an issue paying $90+ for a service that didnt fix my original issue - it seemed like the attitude at this point was that this was my problem to deal with. It felt pretty dishonest, and I dont know if I would recommend this place to anyone at this time.

Has been operating poorly since Covid-19. I have been turned away there for simple requests like inspection or pedal changing because it is a busy time

They have bad customer service. I waited around while the rep worked with another customer repairing his bike, only to be told that they dont service bikes there. How is that possible when you were just servicing another bicycle. There are better bike shops around Dallas. I will not be supporting this business going forward.

Love this store they have everything I was looking for food my bike. And the guy is super helpful ! He helped me take the bike off the car and put it back in. Definitely will come back and refer to my family and friends and to all! I had my inner tube changed and it only took 3 minutes. Super quick and awesome.

This is a great bicycle store. Especially the repair end of the operation. Christian doesnt try to oversell you. The young man that was there that particular day was kind enough to change out my inner tube twice after a blow out 20 minutes later into riding. He gave me a reasonable deal for a used tire that I really needed. Overall, very satisfied with their service. Thank you!

I waited a week-- after dropping off 2 English 3 spd hubs to be trued-- to learn that the work could not be done, due to rust on the hubs. When originally dropped off, the repair person told me 5 days, and that I would be called when the hubs were ready. Seven days later, I called the shop and was informed that the work could not be done, due to the rust. At some point, someone should from the shop should have contacted me to make this known. This was an acute oversight by the shop, and a waste of time.

Red Star Bike Shop is a great shop with reasonable prices. The bike shops here in Dallas are each a bit different but all have great customer service and Red Star is no exception. If your in the area near the Design District/Trinity Greenbelt stop by and let Christian fix you up with any/all of your cycling needs.

I was impressed by their reviews. Especially as a first time biker I thought they would welcome me to the biker world. I brought in a hybrid bicycle Inherited to me and requested for their basic tuneup service. When I came back the next day to pick up I could tell that something was wrong and I noticed that the front brakes were destroyed. But I am new to this bike world so initially I didnt really pay attention. I came back to the shop And requested to solve the issue. I paid for them to to fix the brake issue. Now after one day of riding use, my tire blows out.I typically dont write reviews but the service here is deceiving. I wouldnt recommend this shop if youre a first timer because they will take advantage of you. And they have a bunch of kids running the shop without adult supervision. Ridiculous!

Great bike shop! The guys there are very helpful and informative, we had many questions about sizing and the best style of bike for us and they had the perfect answers! Best part of buying a bike here is the free lifetime basic tune ups!

Highly recommended. Had my bike back up and running in less than 10 minutes of arrival. I showed up with a missing pedal(crank arm was stripped out) he hooked it up with old junk pedal and I rode home out the door spending about $20 part and labor. Cant beat that. Would recommend.

Was stranded on Trinity River Trail on Labor Day with flat and 3 kids. Owners re-opened shop and replaced flat despite having his kids with him. Awesome people and convenient location for Trinity River Trail and Design District. Also sells ice cream treats and cold drinks. Locally owned.

My first experience here was great. I needed a tube replaced, and Christian was friendly and helped me with a quick repair.Unfortunately that was a week ago. The repaired tire had already gone flat so I went back today, but I was asked to pay again for the repair that lasted less than a week. However, Christian explained to me how flats can easily happen with road bikes on roads in poor condition and let me know that if I have further issues with the repair Red Star will cover the repair.All around, I would recommend this great community bike shop.

You will pay 2 or even 3 times more for services in other bike shops. They are friendly and fast.

I was down at the bridge for the first time today. We were hunting around the area and stumbled across this bike shop. They are on the opposite side of the bridge from the restaurants. They were so nice! They told me all about their shop and how they have a bike ride the first saturday of every month. I will definitely be back. I love meeting people who start their own business and bring some fun to Dallas!

I bought a front wheel skewer from here and it broke when i tried to put it on, so i went back and he exchanged me a new one that is great, at no extra charge. Very nice and quick service.

The shop is located half a block from the east end of the new Continental Street Bridge, making it very convenient for cyclists using the Trinity River Trails. Need a flat repaired, forks adjusted or complete tune-up? Christians your man and Red Star should be your new bike shop!

Walked in needing a brake cable. Walked around the store a bit waiting to see if anyone (workers) would appear figuring they were busy. After calling out for someone, seeing if the workers were in the back, still no one. Waisted about ten minutes in that shop to go home empty handed.
