I highly recommend this barber shop. The barbers are very nice and they can cut hair really well. The atmosphere is very calming. They even offer shoe shining and repair. Just an overall great experience.

When I described what haircut Id like, Ryan asked me if I had any pictures of my hair where I thought it looked great. I told him that I never thought my hair had looked great. As of today, thats changed. Ryan did an incredible job and I commend him to everyone. You have earned a loyal customer.

I work downtown about a block from this place and I have been more than impressed with the service you get. This is an old school barber shop with three chairs. You can get a complimentary shoe shine while you wait for your haircut. I started going there a few months ago and couldn’t be more impressed with the level of professionalism and by their skill. Ryan is who I always use. You can call to set an appointment or you can go online and book your appointment and have them text you to remind you.The place is super clean and the people working on your hair will be extremely talented. This place embodies what you expect from a high end barber shop. There is always interesting conversation and if you aren’t the type to chat they are just as happy and will still leave your hair looking like a million buck. They will use the old school razor blade and foam and for me the scent brought back memories of my dad.

I just moved here recently from Oklahoma and am currently in the pursuit of finding the right barber. First, Norvell is the life of the shop, extremely cool dude, the man has jokes, and provides interesting conversation. A beer was offered when I stepped in, which is a nice amenity. I had an appointment with Juke, the haircut was $30. I was a little disappointed, that no straight edge razor was used to edge up the neck line or sides (I don’t know if this is something you have to ask about to receive. I saw Ryan do it on his previous two). I don’t know if they wash your hair or not either, my previous barber did. My only other disappointment was not much was done with the top, this was probably due to me not articulating what I wanted properly. The fade provided was good though Overall they seem like good guys who are having a good time. I’m going to continue to look around but overall not a bad experience or a bad barber.

If you work in downtown Dallas and prefer a normal haircut, this is the place. Easy to make an appointment and a half hour in the chair. Ryan asked great questions and gave me a great cut. Exactly what I needed.

I can honestly say that Roberto gives some of the best cuts in town. He’s very consistent and he’s an all-around great guy. This place has excellent staff and service and I would highly recommend stopping in.

This place isnt called Sovereign anymore, which confused the hell outta me. I walked around the building for 10 min, convinced this barber with a different name was trying to steal customers from the real joint around the corner (lol).That small detail aside, I had a great experience here. It seems like its just two guys (and a shoe shine guy) running the place, so the venue has a very personal vibe. Both of the gentlemen made pretty hilarious commentary the whole time, both were polite, and I left with a good cut for just $20. This place is gem hidden among seemingly countless overpriced salons tailoring to men. Go here instead.Heres what really got me, though -- despite that I walked into my appointment 10 min late, despite that they only had two barbers, AND despite that two guys seemed to be waiting for their haircut, Roberto saved my chair. That was a totally unnecessary gesture on his part and it meant a lot. I would have had to cancel my appointment had he given someone else that spot. I will definitely be coming back!

Juke has been my barber for over two years now and hes AMAZING! I call him my hair doctor. I can show him a picture and he can replicate it better than the picture. Hes super friendly, very detail oriented and always willing to work with my schedule. He goes above and beyond to make sure I leave his chair satisfied. Could not ask for a better barber!

I am in absolute disbelief, they Shaved my HEAD!!!!!!I walk in at 11:30 today and they tell me it will be a little wait as there is one in front of me. I wait 35min what is about right and everyone is really nice and looks like good banter is going on. Perfect.The guy in the last chair grabs me in turn and asks me what I would like, I tell him a Bald-fade with very little off the top as I am trying to grow it out some from where it was. Pretty simple common cut for guys these days.He grabs his clippers and gets to work on the fade portion of my cut, he never lets me face the mirrors in this time but I know he is doing well just on his fade. As he starts to blend it to the top he pulls out his scissors and starts trimming the top and just evening it out. Then the Magic happens, he spins me around a couple of times as the mirror flashes in-front of me, grabs his trusty clippers and hits me right down the middle with a number 4.......... I looked up at him trying to see what he had attached to the clippers and a couple more quick passes I saw all of my hair fall. he takes off the back clip on my robe and hits the back of my neck with a razor, I know the damage is done.I ask him why he cut off all of my hair and he gets really offended, acts like I did something wrong and tries to tell me because my hair was uneven up top, well that may be but that is because you just cut it!!!!! As I sit there in his chair I ask him what we are going to do, he says well we cant put it back as I stare at him in shock, as I walk towards the door he is on my tail and I say you dont expect me to pay for this and he says yes, why would you not I fixed your hair. No....... you absolutely just destroyed my hair, and then acted like it was my fault. I have never in all my 37 years had someone do what you did to my head.... its like you gave me the hair cut you wanted and not the one I asked for.Never again!

Great shop. Ive been coming here for about a year now to see Juke every few weeks and he never fails to impress. He is professional and listens to what you want and more importantly gives you what you NEED. I have recommended this shop to anyone and everyone I know. Between Juke and Roberto, this shop has something special going.I definitely recommend getting an appointment online before hand, expecting a walk in is very difficult as these masters are booked up for busy hours days in advance.You will not be disappointed.

Robert is the man! He listened to what I wanted and did a fantastic job. I was a little worried because African American hair can be pretty difficult for some barbers but he is a true pro. So if youre on the edge and looking for a guy that can cut a black mans hair hit up this shop and talk to Robert. He also did an amazing job on my face. You will end up paying about 35 for both but its worth it. Dont forget to tip this master hair sculptor.

Didnt have to wait just walked in guess I got lucky but my experience was very professional and decently priced! The female hairstylist did an outstanding job with my low skin fade, and this is coming from an EX NYC resident. I have a difficult hair texture to work with so I always have this small fear when I get a haircut from a new barber/hairstylist and she did not disappoint!

Went in to see the barber Jacob for a razor fade. He didnt use any shaving cream with the razor fade, causing my skin to break out and nicks with bleeding everywhere. He seemed higher than a kite in the sky. When he asked me what I wanted, I told him specifically that I wanted one part longer than the other, he didnt listen to that either. The length of hair on each side of my head was uneven. When I originally called in to set the appointment, I was quoted $25 for a razor fade. When I went to checkout it was $30. He finished a haircut that usually takes 40-50 minutes in 20 minutes or less. I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN. DO NOT GO HERE!

Gentleman, DONT COME HERE! I asked Jacob for a simple cut. A buzz on the sides, and not to touch the top. Hes almost done and takes his BUZZ clippers TO THE TOP OF MY HAIR. What kind of self-respecting barber does that? His excuse was to even it out. Also, the buzz on the sides isnt even same length all the way around. My blind grandma couldnt even screw up a buzz cut.Also, cuts here are 25 bucks!!!!TLDR - They suck are cutting hair here - just go to BrassTacks in the Bishop Arts District. They actually know what theyre doing and the guys that get their haircut there look really put together so they know whats up.

Juke Higgins has been taking care of my beard and my son’s hair for several years now. He’s a skilled barber with an eye for detail and the little things, which I really appreciate (as a super-picky guy). If you’re looking for someone who really knows what they’re doing and is a hell of a stand-up person, Sovereign Barber Shop is the place to go.
