Couldn’t be happier with the work Completed by Chapman. The team arrived at the scheduled time, took the time to protect my hardwood floors, and left my basement cleaner than when they arrived. I am impressed by their attention to detail and quality of their workmanship.

At this point it feels like I have had Chapman work on everything in my house except the pipes themselves. I mention this because over the last 18 months I have had them replace 2 Furnances, 2 AC units, 1 Water heater and help to diagnose a leak and fix the issue (toilet flange that settled and opened up a gap in the floor).I have gone back to Chapman Brothers time after time because they are professional, their office staff is friendly and informative and their plumbers are personable, thorough and do high quality work. There are probably companies that you can get to do a cheaper job of it but it will cost you more in the end, what you are paying for is a company that is well run, well staffed and so far as I can tell stands behind their work.Glad to find there are still companies that do business like this.

Service call was yesterday. Tech was extremely knowledgeable. He was concerned about oil in ac overflow pan, good news is it must have been from old system so no extra charge there. I also thought I needed to reinstall a toilet because it was loose on the floor. Tech told me he could do it, but really all I needed was to shim it and caulk it. This was easy so I said I would do it myself. It is rare to find a company that is so honest and trustworthy. They are not looking to just make extra money by tacking on jobs. Today I called Chapman to install a Flo by Moen web enabled leak detector, their honesty earned them more business from me!

We have been using Chapman Plumbing for many years now. They have fixed and repaired our toilets and drains here in the house. They have a quick response time and they do great work. I had my boiler serviced as it stopped working, resulting in no hot water and the service technician John was knowledgeable and professional and resolved the issue in a very timely manner.

Let us preface our review by saying we have an older home which had very specific needs and limited space to work with. It should also be noted that all of these projects needed to be precisely timed around a concurrent foundation repair (I-beams encased in concrete being placed along all of the walls in our basement).Over this past year, Chapman Brothers completed dozens of repairs, including:-conversion from oil to gas heat (steam oil boiler to gas combi unit - all in one boiler/water heater)-oil tank/water heater removal-steam pipe removal along all walls in the basement-removal of steam pipes and conversion to pex water lines to all radiators throughout our home-complete air conditioner/condenser replacement/associated electrical work-sewer line replacement-2 sump pump replacements (1 with complete battery back up system and pipe repair)-lots of plumbing work...and I probably forgot a thing or two...Reliability, communication and punctuality were key to working alongside the foundation repair company, gas company, water company and town - all while allowing us to keep our sanity through such a big repair. The concurrent foundation repair made this a complicated and unique project to begin with, and our living in the home with a 1.5yr old while all this was going on just made it that much more interesting. For example, most of the plumbing needed to be temporarily installed before putting in the final piping, so we could live in our home while this all went on.Chapman went out of their way to make this happen with no interruptions in gas/water/waste removal service. Also, ultimately all the plumbing/gas lines needed to be run around or over the i-beams placed along the walls-but neatly-so we didn’t waste too much space because we were refinishing the basement again. Some work needed to be slightly altered and redone after we hit some “bumps in the road” with our other repairs. Annoying but true, and without hesitation or complaint, Chapman redid the things we needed redone. We had a 1.5yr old running around and they worked around and humored him every chance they had.Needless to say, there were a lot of factors that made our project anything but easy for anyone. But Bill, Tom and team did everything they could make all of this as easy as possible. They were thorough, organized, productive, clean, punctual, patient, reasonable, flexible, and most importantly honest and kind. Their attention to detail still impresses us. Who knew plumbing could be so clean and organized?!The clever ways the guys found to work with what we had with was impressive / in-and-of itself. Further, these guys didn’t come in here trying to sell any fancy fixes or promise us the world. They came with obvious years of experience and, frankly, just helped us make everything work the best way it could for us and our specific situation. There’s something to be said about having a job done correctly, but it’s something totally different being able to say you had it done right the first time (Any homeowner who has had subpar work done knows exactly what I mean by this.). Bill and his team became a huge part of our lives over this past year and we respect them and their work more than we can say.These guys had countless hours of work ahead of them yet never hesitated to stop and answer a question we had or offer a suggestion on a way to make our project work better and within our budget. They were punctual, used their time wisely and productively, yet didn’t rush in and out carelessly. What I think is even more important to emphasize is that I can honestly say I trust chapman brothers. As a homeowner I would typically feel vulnerable saying that about a contractor, but not for a second when it comes to Chapman. They are good, honest people who show absolute pride and craftsmanship in their work.Needless to say, my family and I will be lifetime clients of chapman brothers and will continue to refer them to everyone we know.

When I first called, I was greeted by a friendly, helpful voice on the other line. We discussed the problem and I’d requested that someone come out either that day or the following morning (I had sitting water in my ceiling). She told me to expect a call from a technician later in the day to discuss further details. Unfortunately, I never got the call. I called again that evening and they were finally able to schedule something but not until two days later. Although I was a little annoyed that I never actually got to talk with a technician and they came later than I’d hoped, he did arrive on time on the scheduled day and fixed the problem in a short amount of time. So far everything is good!

Excellent service. Gas furnace was not turning on and I called Chapman Brothers. Melissa was great in scheduling same day service. The tech, John, arrived on time and diagnosed and fixed the problem. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost and will definitely use Chapman Brothers again.

This is the first time I hired this company to do maintenance on our gas boiler. Juan arrived on time. He was very pleasant and patient with all of my annoying questions. He was neat and very organize, polite and very knowledgeable.I will definitely hire them again. A fantastic company. My contractor introduced us to Chapman Bros when we renovated our house. Weve used them for all HVAC and plumbing matters since. Recently woke up without heat and learned our 40 year old boiler was leaking fluids. Someone arrived within a few hours and repaired it same day. Always can rely on them to wear masks, explain alternatives, and be willing to answer questions.

Still waiting since last Tuesday for someone to return my phone call with an estimate for the work that needs to be done. Right now all theydid was cut a hole in my bathroom wall.

Chapman Brothers have been a lifesaver for us. Our furnace gave out in peak summer and we knew we had time before we needed to install it for winter so we got quotes from a bunch of contractors. Chapman Brothers were not the cheapest but the knowledge and experience that Tom brought was second to none. As luck would have it, we ended up needing to do the installation much earlier because of an upcoming new arrival in the family. Tom and his team were amazing - drop cloths everywhere and tidied up the place after. A couple of days after installation, the new machine turned off. Quick text message to Tom and he turned up in less than 10 minutes to follow up. He dropped by on consecutive days, always messaging before just to check up and make sure everything was working. Weve had a couple of technicians over since then for various items and theyve all been on time, courteous and professional. They explain what the issue is clearly. We are so glad to have found these guys and they are on speed dial for any of our plumbing and heating issues! Thank you Tom and team!

Our home is almost 100 years old, which means we needed to hire the perfect company to add central air. Tom and his team at Chapman Bros. Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning were fantastic. They made multiple stops by our house to answer all of our questions and to show us exactly what they would do in our home, before we even hired them. So many other companies never called me back or stopped by and I never heard from them again. Chapman was there, did an excellent job and as a result we are extremely comfortable in our old home this very, hot summer!

In fact, I was impressed with their willingness to come by on such short notice.When I called at 3:30pm the receptionist was far from warm and seemed irritated with me calling to check in. She said they WILL CALL ME a half hour before they arrived -- which they never did.Bill called me this morning to tell me he had stopped by and knocked/rang the doorbell. I was in the home the whole time and didnt hear anything, but Ill take him at his word and he seemed truly apologetic, even offering to come to the home this morning (unfortunately I had to take the time off from work yesterday and therefore couldnt today).He said the company could not find where they put my phone number and thats why he never called. I believe him on this, too. I get that things happen but the attitudes I received from the different folks I spoke to there was icing on the cake for having lost a day of work. Melissa who I initially spoke with was great, though.Initial review:I would not recommend them at all. Completely unprofessional and they wasted my entire day.I waited all day for them to arrive and even called when they were running late to be told I would receive a call 30 minutes before they arrived.Four hours later I was finally able to get a hold of one of the technicians who told me the guy had been here hours before and that nobody was home — which is complete bs. I was in the living room by the door all day and they never called me once.

I live in a 1920s Tudor home. It is really not made for air conditioning. The Chapman team did an incredible job fitting my house with a fantastic AC system to keep me cool all summer. It looks great from both the inside and outside. The crew was amazing, even through the challenges of my old house. I thank Chapman for their hard, and great, work and would recommend them to anyone looking for HVAC guidance.

Highly recommended! Bill came out and installed a gas line to our BBQ. At first, before seeing Bill I thought the gas line would be seen from the outside, but Bill was able to hide everything, and the results look great. He was very knowledgeable and made sure what we had was adequate for the BBQ. It was a great experience and I would hire again for any future jobs.

Nearly $2,000 to replace our 40 gallon hot water heater seemed pricey, but we had no time to shop around. The two technicians did a professional installation, although Id give them low marks when it comes to friendliness and customer service.

Bill Chapman came for a first-time consultation on a potential water problem in Springfield. He was forthright, honest, observant and extremely knowledgeable. And more than fair. I would not hesitate to call on him again and would recommend him to family and friends.

I contacted Chapman Brothers when my furnace broke down the day after the January 16 snow storm. Tom, one of the owners, was at my door within an hour. He was able to get the furnace running temporarily and had one of his workers (with parts)at my home early the next morning. Both these guys knew exactly what they were doing. I have read some reviews claiming they are not the cheapest.. well... let me say this.. they changed the same part that I had changed 5 years ago by the company that serviced my unit semi annually... and Chapman Brothers price was LESS then I paid 5 years ago... GREAT service ... GREAT price.... GREAT experience... Thank you VERY much...

Chapman came to my House quoted me a price for a fan motor replacement of $451 to $758 and also charged me a $69 service fee.My family was in the Heating Business for 80 years in Manhattan and I could do the work myself. I looked up the part number on the interment and could buy one for $159 max myself. So I figure $400 to $500 is high but fair for the right job. Everyone is entitled to make an honest living.It was literally a 4 bolt and job and should not take more than 1 hour to complete test and retest. But hings did not go as I anticipated.They claim the part cost $210 and charged me $742 in total. Since Chapman spent less than 2 hours in my home. I think the cost and the horrendous attitude to my wife was unprofessional. Chapman used to be a good shop and I cannot recommend them any longer. I did not expect these games from them.

I did $40k of work with Chapman on the basis of Bill, the owner, telling me that they are loyal to the community and are focused on service. Over the past 4 years, the Chapman office staff have consistently given me the runaround and failed to service the major installations they have done in my home. They are happy to take an annual fee, but don’t schedule service, don’t follow up, have bad record keeping and you have to fight for any service you are lucky enough to get. The majority of the technitions are good and nice to work with, but I for one will be looking to move my business to a company that has a professional office staff, has follow through for maintenance and actually honor their service commitment. Such a major disappointment from a local business!

More than one generation of my family have used Chapman Bros for at least 50 years. I’m always happy with the service, and everyone who works for the company is great. Fast service for emergencies (which in Cranford can mean flooding and related disasters) is always appreciated. I might have taken away a half-star for pricing...I’m sometimes a little surprised by how expensive a job turns out to be. But other than that, they remain my go-to service providers.

The faucet on our shower refused to shut off late on a Friday night. We contacted Chapman Brothers and their plumber came over immediately, was able to shut off the water and said he would check on Saturday morning whether the necessary part to repair the faucet was available (he also took a picture of the fixture). On Saturday morning he confirmed the part was available, contacted us, and came back to repair the faucet. He was very polite and very professional, and we will definitely use Chapman Brothers for all of our plumbing needs.

We called Chapman Bros. on the coldest day of the year - and they came, no questions. They restored our heat. They even followed up a few day later just to make sure everything was OK. They are the best!

Chapman Brothers is terrific. I called 4 local plumbers on a Friday night. They were the only company that responded. They came by at 7am Saturday morning and fixed the problem. Very efficient, very responsive. I highly recommend them and I would definitely use them again.

I am very happy with the service from Chapman Bros. They came quickly on a Wednesday morning to repair our furnace when we had no heat. And came back a few days later when some safety features of the furnace needed to be reset. Pricing was fair and they were very responsive when faced with a family with no heat.

Top notch professionals. They installed a brand new central air unit and converted my house from electric heat to gas.I talked to 14, yes, 14 different vendors, but decided with Tom and his team. They clearly explained everything they needed to do and did it right.As far as communication, I called their answering service for an issue that was not related to the new system they installed. (I was worried about a vent I thought could fall and injure my 5 year old) The technician was in my house the next day and fixed it at no charge. Thats how they work.A+

Called them to do work at my church. The receptionist was A1. Kind, respectful and attentive. The service i needed required a tech to come out on a sat. Due to its being an emergency. Im all too familiar with the “on call” techs who dont wanna work on the weekends and this tech was no different. He tried to diagnose my hvac over the phone and without ever setting foot on my property, he determined my issue called for an electrician rather than a heating/cooling technician. I would have gave them 1 star if it wasnt for the pleasant receptionist.

Timely and professional

They installed a new boiler and relocated a radiator. Price was very fair. Installation was smooth and clean. I have few complaints. (For example, it was hard at times to get them to schedule me in.) I plan on using them in the future.

I have used Chapman Brothers for my plumbing needs for many years and I have always liked their professional service and staff. However, today I am annoyed at one thing that happen during a service call. Every year I have them out to either service my AC or furnace to make sure they are in proper working order. Before the service call I went to their web site and downloaded their $25.00 off coupon for any service. The technician did an excellent job in cleaning our my AC system and making sure the compressor, etc. was in good working order . However when it was time to pay the bill he called the office to determine if my coupon could be used. That is when he said that the coupon could not be used because this is not a service call it is a maintenance call. I dont know about other home owners but when I call a professional to come to my house to work on whatever in the house I consider that a service call. I think the Chapman Brothers coupon is very misleading as written and should be corrected so that other customers are not fooled by this word play.

Had two different plumbers for two situations , Paulo and Anthony. They solved the problems and they left the bathroom spotless.

On a Monday morning, two hours after my 6:45 AM emergency call for a clogged sanitary drain, the Chapman truck with Paulo and Mike arrived to resolve the problem. After a brief inspection, they brought in a motor-powered snake and ten minutes later the drain was clear. They cleaned the area, loaded their equipment and drove away at 9:30 AM after 45 minutes at the site. They were a professional team that worked well together, and they are a credit to the plumbing profession. If you have a plumbing or heating emergency, call Chapman Brothers first.
