I was driving across the country from Connecticut to California. There had been an oversight from the people who changed my oil back in CT. I lost all my oil in Indiana and was pretty freaked out. Atherton Automotive came to the rescue. The were fast, fair and kind! I was on my way in no time. And they had a garage full of cars they were working on. They could have made me wait for hours. I cannot thank them enough.Highly recommend!

When something went wrong with our car I was terrified of finding a shop. I know nothing about cars and didn’t want to be fooled out of more money for work that isn’t necessary . Not only did they call multiple times before proceeding with work, they gave me correct estimates and told me what needed done for the car to run properly and what could wait. They sent out an email with a a link to a very thorough list with pictures showing what’s okay, what needs done eventually, and what was urgent. I was expecting my total to be twice what it was. Everyone was extremely professional and thorough, and they explained everything to me. Our car is running better than when we got it and I don’t plan on taking it anywhere else in the future. I also got a text today asking how everything is running and if I’m pleased with the service. This is the best shop I have ever done business with. Highly recommend!!

My wife and I take our personal and company vehicles to Athertons for all our service. We have been doing so for at least 15 years. The Athertons have always been competetive and tell us what needs to be done and tell us what can wait that we should plan for over time. They stand behind their work and are timely in getting work done. We just finished running 5 vehicles in for service because while we are a little slow now we are going to be slammed very soon and wanted to get our service out of the way so we could respond to our customers. They managed to work all 5 vehicles in in 3 days with no advance notice.

I am so happy to have found Atherton’s. They are personable and professional. They explain my car’s needs and also work with me to get the most for my money. They are great on maintenance, but I have also had some serious work done to an older vehicle. After their work, the car has never run better. Our family has been using Athertons services for over 40 years, and we have never been steered wrong, or sold us something we didnt need. My latest transaction came as a result of Athertons doing a thorough inspection of a used vehicle I intended to purchase. Good thing I did as they uncovered several issues that were not visible but were safety related. Their estimates have always been very close to actual costs.

My battery was acting up and when they checked it, they saw it had a warranty. My service person called Auto Zone to see if it was still in effect and it was. He had the battery delivered to Atherton’s and then installed it. They aren’t just out to take your money. If they can help you save, they will. This is a fantastic repair shop! They are honest, reasonably priced and friendly. When my repair was going to take a while, they drove me home and back so I did not have to wait at the shop. The gas station has coffee and snacks too, so when I wait I can enjoy a cup! Recommend highly!!

Very thorough; great mechanics, and great prices. I got a 25 year old van and needed it checked over - the guys at Atherton gave me a complete list of things that were in good shape, as well as things that needed to be fixed. They were able to get my van in the day after I called them, and the dropoff, payment and pickup was super easy despite my crazy work schedule.

Went in for service on my Escape and Matt Jr. found a tie rod that was loose. I didnt have an appointment for that kind of work but he assured me he could make room to get it replaced that day. We needed to get the oil changed in our vehicle before we took a trip. Not only did they make time to change the oil but they also looked over the vehicle for us to make sure everything was safe for our trip.We appreciate them going the extra mile for us.

Van broke down at 3am on I-80 about 30 miles outside of council bluffs. Called AAA and this was one of their recommended shops. Had the van towed to shop and dropped off. I needed to get on the road as soon as possible, so I was at their door right at open. Matt Jr worked me in that morning even though they had a full schedule and had repairs completed along with complimentary check over of vehicle done before noon. Called me to give me updates and let me know where they were at. After speaking with them, I learned that the shop has been in that same location and same family for 4 generations. The only way a business can stay open and successful for that long is through integrity. They took care of me like Id been going there for a long time. Didnt try to sell me on anything unnecessary. Services performed were completed in a good time frame. Communicating is easy with the shop manager. They do a nice job of explaining recommended repairs and allow the customer to make an informed decision. Best Automotive Service Center I have ever used-no kidding! A few years ago, I was a loyal customer here at Atherton Automotive but had to move for a job change. In my 4 years living in Wisconsin, my husband and I werent able to find a comparable place like Athertons. We called in with a request for a check, and an appointment was made for the same day service. Athertons did a very thorough check, and did the service same day; parts that had to be ordered arrived quickly and appointment was made to complete the service. Staff was very friendly - both in the service department and in the store. My husband did not have a way home while the work was being completed, so Matt (Sr), the owner, gave him a ride so that he could go about his day until they called to let us know it was complete. Matt (Jr) explained the work to be completed, and the billing, so that there were no questions or surprises. All of the employees were polite, friendly, and professional. They have always treated us right, and we will continue to take our business to them. Thank you!

I had been going to the dealership for oil changes. When AAA brought me a new battery, they recommend Atherton’s. My mom used to take her car there years ago. My car was needing some repair work done so I went to Atherton’s for an estimate. I also asked at the visit for them to do an oil change. Not only did they waive the inspection fee but found my car dipstick didn’t have oil on it.For the oil change it was half the price of what I’d been paying at the dealership and so was the estimate on the repair needed. They even mentioned that I need valve stem covers. I was going to get them at the parts store but they had already put some on. Their service can’t be beat in my opinion.Pam Allen

I had a serpentine belt break and belt tensioner assembly go bad. AAA recommended this shop. They were fast, very courteous, with mid range prices as recommended by Consumer Reports. They offered me free coffee and even texted me several days later to see if all was ok. Never had a shop do that! They would be my main shop, if I lived close by.

My car kept needing a jump and I thought it needed a new battery and my tire needed repair fot a slow leak. The staff here told me I did not need a battery just to sell me a battery. They went beyond that to run a number of tests to find out what was draining my battery and keeping informed at all times. The tire lug nuts needed a special tool to be removed which I did not have. The staff called around and found a tool for me to have. They went beyond what they needed to do, keeping me informed on the work, letting me make the decisions, and keeping the cost down due to my limited funds. The total cost for the parts, diagnostic tests, and labor were unbelieveable low for the time they spent on my car. If you are looking for honest, friendly, and knowledgeable staff for your automobile needs you will find it at Atherton Automotive.

I have used Athertons before and pleased with their services. They are very good at their work and back it up. Good quality work. Most people I have see complain, do not understand that vehicles need maintenance. That does cost money. Every time they have caught stuff early, give you details and options on what to do. I had a issue in one of my vehicles where the dealership wanted to replace the turbo, which was working fine and Athertons found the tech bulletin on a separate issue that if fixed would save the turbo. If I had replaced the perfectly good turbo, the new one would have still gone out and cost me more money then just putting in the kit recommended from the manufacturer which Athertons recommended. I am glad I followed their advice, They have done great work on all my vehicles and never dissatisfied. Jr and his team do a great job.I would recommend you give them a try!

Brought in my vehicle for an oil change and to have my air conditioner looked at. Atherton quoted me $5600 in repairs. I had a weird feeling about it and brought the vehicle to another mechanic, along with the expensive list of repairs. Atherton quoted my AC repair at $4,000. It was fixed for $300 by another mechanic. None of the other issues on Athertons list needed to be fixed. Steer clear of dishonest businesses that capitalize on dishonesty and the assumption that customers are ignorant.

My boyfriends car broke down on our 1000 mile trip to Colorado. We got stranded in council bluffs and were afraid we would not make it to Colorado in time. Athertons helped so immensely. They had the car fixed in one day at a decent price I am so grateful for there help!

Atherton Automotive was referred to me by a friend to look at an aftermarket exhaust system on my 2015 Tahoe. I had taken the vehicle to the shop that installed the system when it began to make a rattling noise and they were unable to fix it. Nick the service tech looked under the car and discovered a bad mounting bracket and a crack in the exhaust pipe. He called Magnaflow and explained the problem and Magnaflow insisted on replacing the entire system. When I asked the dealer to look at it they refused as they were not the manufacturer.Nick also went through the entire vehicle and pointed out some warranty work to have done before it expired. Looks like Athertons is my new automotive repair shop!
